Montreux Riviera Noël

The Christmas market on the lake front with mountains in the background is amazing, we caught the train from Geneva which took 1hr and cost £70 return for a family of three. The market is huge with a great variety of stalls. You can easily spend a full day exploring the market and Montreux town. Brilliant experience and will definitely be back next year.

There’s plenty more to enjoy beyond the stalls: • Great food and drink — traditional Swiss favorites like raclette, fondue, and sweet pastries warm both heart and belly. • Ferris wheel with lake views — a great way to take in the market from above as the lights reflect off the water.  • Family-friendly activities — workshops, music, and charming little corners to pause and soak up the season.  The entire experience feels like a blend of classic Christmas tradition and lakeside elegance — a market that’s festive, friendly, and utterly memorable.

Always my favorite christmas market to go to every year! Lots of vendors and food options. Super busy at night and weekends, more relaxed during the weekdays.

Awesome Christmas Market that has the beautiful backdrop of Lake Geneva and the French Alps! Lots and lots of food and craft stalls down the walk. My advice is to show up at opening times to get a good seat for food and truly enjoy all the stalls!

It was our first Swiss Christmas market Experience. Flying Santa was amazingly beautiful. Fondue and all other local food stalls with cold breeze from montreux lake made it an unforgettable experience.

Montreux is beautiful but as most know it’s very expensive! The market at Christmas is beautifully done but the merchandise sold is a bit less interesting. Not many Christmas ornaments or Christmas things. A lot of non local but if you go towards the western most part of the market there are a few booths who sell local items. Mostly it’s typical things you find at any market.

It was super crowded when I was there as expected on the weekends, so that made the shop browsing a bit challenging. The ambiance on the other hand was great, a good selection of food and drinks. Just make sure you start searching for a spot to watch Santa fly by about 20 to 30 minutes in advance (it’s usually on the hour) to get a good shot. Catching him returning backwards was also quite entertaining.
