20 Best Museums in Mexico City | Condé Nast Traveler

"The former home of Emilio "El Indio" Fernandez offers a unique window into the world of this award-winning Mexican filmmaker. Few international tourists seek out the museum, but a visit offers deeper insights into Fernandez's life and the Golden Age of Mexican cinema in the 1940s and 1950s. As you walk around, you'll see his possessions as he originally used them. And the house itself, made of volcanic stone, is a well-preserved example of Mexican architecture during that era." - Susannah Rigg

Wow! The house is impressive! It was beautifully decorated for día de los muertos paying tribute to many artists of the golden age. The tour was very informative and well done! I'd definitely go back for any occasion!

Incredible home of the renowned Mexican director. Labyrinthine with several romantic sitting rooms. Would love to see it alive at night.

A neat place to visit if you've never been a bit of the tourist path. There's food and a mariachi band that plays in the afternoon.

Strange place. It is a beautiful house but it has no life in it and opening it to the public feels very much like a money grab. The entrance fee of 200 pesos doesn't include any guide, brochure or other information about the house or owner nor are there any signs throughout the house. Weirdly there was a horse tied up in the courtyard - no context - poor thing must be going crazy stuck there by itself not able to move more than a few metres. I don't know if there is an animal welfare organisation in CDMX but they should be called.

After visiting the house, you can completely understand why he was so in love with the house. The details and history behind are well worth the visit. The house has a peaceful atmosphere and it takes you back on time. The house is a gem and truly a work of art.

Beautiful quincentennial Mexican mansion. However rude people in charge. Even to close the door on you. Have manners. This a house with a lost of history to be run by ambition
