Monumento a Los Heroes de Iquique

Nice monument commemorating a battle with Peru during the War of the Pacific. 77 unfortunate Chilean soldiers were killed in a fight with a numerically vastly superior Peruvian unit. Tragic. No tickets, no wait, it’s a public monument.

Beautiful war memorial in the center of the town plaza. This Chilean monument may be the only one not vandalized as there are armed guards protecting it 😅

A beautiful monument to the heroes of Iquique who lost their lives during the Pacific War.

2020.02.22 Monument to the heroes of Iquique, Valparaiso, Chile. During the war in the Pacific, beginning May 21, 1886, this monument paid a tribute to the heroes of the naval operations of Iquique and Punta Gruesa. This Iquique hero monument is located in Valparaiso. The Iquique naval battle is a naval battle between a Chilean wooden ship and a Peruvian armored warship. Chilean commander Pratt (the statue on the monument) is about to sink on the warship. On the occasion, after jumping on the enemy ship to do the desperate struggle, the country was formidable, so cast a monument in memory.

Beautiful monument with great architecture. It is currently under renovation. If you come here at 6pm you can see them lowering the flag.

It is located near Plaza Sotomayor. Around the area there is small artesenal market to walk around and Muelle Prat is also not far from here.
