I genuinely cannot believe how badly Monzo has handled my situation. In my experience, their behaviour has been nothing short of shocking. They shut down my account without warning, without explanation, and without any sense of responsibility, instantly blocking me from every penny of my own money.
And then — as if that isn’t outrageous enough — they tell me I might be waiting 2–4 weeks to get my funds back. Weeks. Meaning I could be left completely stranded over the Christmas period, with zero access to my own finances because of a decision they refuse to explain.
It is absolutely infuriating. The lack of communication is disgusting. No answers. No support. No urgency. Just a cold, dismissive “wait for your money” while I’m left dealing with the real-world fallout of their actions.
In my opinion, Monzo has shown me they are unreliable, unprofessional, and totally indifferent to the harm they cause. Trusting them felt like a mistake, and this experience has made it crystal clear to me that they are not a bank I could ever rely on again.
If you value access to your own money — especially during something as important as the Christmas season — think very carefully before choosing Monzo.
