"Beat the Rain at Moody Gardens The Moody Gardens resort has two indoor "pyramids" that make a great escape on a rainy day in Galveston. One simulates a rainforest environment and the other is filled with aquatic creatures. You can also spend the night at the Moody Gardens Hotel if you're looking for a place to stay. 4 Best Day Trips from Houston

"It's hard to miss the aquarium, the key attraction at Moody Gardens—it is, after all, a huge glass pyramid. It's filled with sharks, stingrays, and seals; but the highlight are the otter and penguin encounters that let you get up close and personal with the animals. If you're lucky you might even get to see some of their training in action. This is a perfect stop for kids who need a break from the sun and sand in Galveston." - Diana Oates

We enjoyed a day at Moody Gardens exploring their pyramids, shows and time at Palm Beach. We were not disappointed at all. All of the staff were helpful and friendly. Our daughter loved seeing all the animals and was especially excited for the kissing monkeys. Palm Beach was a great way to cool off and end our afternoon at the park. We had a lot of fun in the wave pool and lazy river. We will be back at Christmas time for the festival of lights and ice sculptures.

Enjoyed the day exploring the rainforest and aquarium. The animals were all active and we got so many amazing views of creatures up close. My kids are in the age range where they will now stop and read the plaques and look more carefully at the creatures. They stopped and looked at the large fish of the rainforest for almost twenty minutes and talked about all the things they saw. They also enjoyed looking at the animals from many different angles, especially the sharks. It was a very memorable day!

Amy Jackson

Google
Great aquarium with amazing tanks, you could hang out all day if you wanted to do so, otherwise it will take about 1.5 to 2 hrs to walk though. Try to go early on a weekday before the animals get tired. The sea lions exhibit was great they were so active, barking, and playing around at 11 am. When we got to the jellyfish room it was closed for feeding but we waited about 10 minutes and it was open again, so just hang around if a room or exhibit is closed. The penguins were so cute as well.

Google
As a full grown adult this was fun. As an adult with nieces and nephews this was even more fun. The exhibits are well kept and accessible to see no matter how tall. They’ve done a great job. The penguin encounter (must buy an additional ticket for) was worth every penny. You get to go behind the scenes and actually interact with the penguins they have there. It was really something great.

Google
Buying tickets online (the day before) will save quite a bit. That would help with the cost. I did the aquarium and rain forest and each took about an hour and the cost was $60 at the door. They have some great exhibits and some animals I had never seen before. The young people spread out through the rainforest (not sure their title) were knowledgeable and engaging. They seemed to be assigned to particular animals (primates).

Google
Great staff, very clean facilities, so much fun! We did the family pass which included 2 date passes for the attractions and a 1 night stay at the hotel. It was perfect. We weren't super excited about the discovery pyramid; we thought it was going to be more hands-on but it wasn't. The rest of it was great! Very worth it.

Google
Loved this place. If you plan on going to the waterpark as well I suggest going by there first and dropping off your stuff in a locker whole you go through the pyramids. The Garden restaurant is amazing and the staff everywhere was knowledgeable and very nice. My whole family enjoyed it very much.

Google
Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas is a beautiful destination perfect for a relaxing day out. The gardens are lush and peaceful, offering stunning views of the ocean. There’s so much to see, from unique plants to fascinating animals. The aquarium is a highlight, featuring interactive exhibits where you can even touch manta rays. The 4D theater adds an exciting, immersive experience for visitors of all ages. It’s educational, fun, and a great place for families or anyone wanting to enjoy nature and entertainment in one spot. Highly recommended!

Yelp
My experience was just okay; I expected more since it's pricy. Overall, it was satisfactory, but there were some issues. We ate at the Aquarium Pyramid, and unfortunately, all the tables were dirty--there wasn't a single clean one. Additionally, the workers were just standing around playing instead of attending to the cleanliness. It was not a good place to eat!

Yelp
Bought the tickets to get access to the rainforest and aquarium pyramids for $56. As my friend and I were purchasing the tickets, we saw the 4d movie nearby, and we were interested in checking it out until we saw the price and heard how long the running time was. They charge $14 for a 12 minute show. Not worth it in my opinion! We started off in the rainforest pyramid, and it was such a surreal experience. It was cool to see everything from up top and then to end at the bottom. I was just admiring all the animal and plant life- throughout the exhibit, they have information boards about the specific species, which was super neat. Even got to see INSECTSSSS which were gross but intriguing. The aquarium pyramid was beautiful! It was nice and cool (temperature wise) compared to the rainforest pyramid. Viewing the jellyfish in the dark was awesome! They looked so pretty in the different colors of light. Spent a lot of time viewing the penguins and the seals + sea lions. It's entertaining to see them dive and swim around in the waters. The aquarium felt more packed than the rainforest, so once we got to the stingray station, it was packed with barely any space to move. I was still able to touch a stingray though! One of my favorite parts of the whole exhibit was the tunnel aquarium at the end. Although it was busy, there were still more than enough parking spots. Parking is free! Overall, the experience was totally worth it.

Yelp
They need to communicate better when things are closed and overall their prices are just too high compared to other places with the same or similar thing. We drove a hour plus to go to Palm Beach, having checked the website on the drive out there that morning - and no mention until we get there that a large part of it is closed which we discovered after we bought tickets. Palm Beach has a pair of water slides geared towards smaller kids with a set of other water features - which we find out was closed. That really only left the wave pool, lazy river and a splash pad, not much to do after we paid $106 for 2 adults and 2 kids. We complained and they let us have a credit for another Moody Gardens attraction at member prices. We went with the aquarium despite having to pay out another $20 on top. Tickets are typically over $40 for adults and over $30 for kids. There are a few very nice exhibits but it's small overall and we were done in less than 2 hours. A far cheaper option is the downtown aquarium in Houston which includes rides with the tickets and more for the family and kids to do. Or go to the Houston Zoo which added the Galapagos Islands exhibit and has nearly as much aquatic life in that one area that the Moody Gardens aquarium has plus the whole rest of the zoo. If you pay for everything at Moody Gardens to try to do in a day even with a combination discount you are still in for well over $300 for a family of 4. You're approaching the cost of a day at Disney's Animal Kingdom at that range which has 3 times the things for your family to do. Moody Gardens is not worth the price compared to their peers.

Yelp
Nasty front desk person Dana. Treats people she thinks are lower class than her like dirt. What she needs to realize is that everyone is a customer and she isn't any better than anyone else. Delivery people provide a service to your guests and your guests very much appreciate it. They would be appalled to know how badly Moody Gardens treats delivery people. Every other hotel, hospital, Airbnb, etc. in Galveston gladly and graciously accepts deliveries for their guests. And many happily provide a specific area for guests to pick up their deliveries. Stop acting like you're better than everyone else and take care of people like you're supposed to do!

Yelp
We had an amazing day at Moody Gardens! This is a great place to escape the heat and see sea creatures and rainforest creatures. The jellyfish room was so atmospheric and calming. There was one delicate set of jellyfish that were tangled with each other, which is not a good sign of their care. But hopefully it was a one-off because the room was really special. The educational movies were pretty pricey for short films, and I can't imagine what it would cost to bring a big family. This may explain why there were so few people there. But all in all, what a wonderful, comfortable, calming place to be when it's so hot outside.

Yelp
**watched bird get killed** I visited Moody Gardens today while in Texas for the weekend. There was a tiny baby bird in an enclosed cage on the bottom floor. My friend and I noticed these birds aggressively attacking the encaged bird and pecking its head causing bleeding and loss of feathers. My friend ran to get one of the zoo keepers to tell them what was going on. When he did the zoo keeper told him "no they're just feeding him since he's a baby" my friend insisted that was not the case but they still refused to come see what was going on. When he came back alone I told him he needed to go back and let them know the bird is actively being pecked to death and bleeding from its head. He ran back and told them once more how urgent the situation was. He still came back alone. A few minutes later the zoo keepers shows up but the bird was already DEAD. Maybe train your staff to accept direction from others around them or just don't put these birds in DEADLY situations. That was extremely hard to witness as we are big time animal lovers. Hence why we came. Do better. Won't be back. I've attached videos and pictures from my visit but it won't let me add it to this review. You can find it in the video and photos section

Yelp
It was set up very nicely with live music and very welcoming. This place is actually pretty dope for all ages however the price was a too high for the food options available at this event.

Yelp
We bought our tickets online but since it was during Fall season, very few people were there. We were able to go to all the areas except the beach and ride the boat. The boat was supposed to have two sailings but perhaps weather or staff made the second time cancelled. I was really looking forward to it and there was no announcement, just a simple board showing that only one sailing for the day was planned. There's two main pyramids - the rainforest and the aquarium. Both are very nice areas with great displays and many animals. Note that some boards were broken and did not display information and some exhibits were closed for construction. However, overall it was a very nice center. I might have been irritated if I didn't buy a day pass since each location was over $35 per person individually. The day pass is worth the cost. For children, the places were probably about the right size and we spent 1-2 hours per pyramid. You can easily walk through in under an hour if you are not reading anything or only taking a quick Look. We also watched the 3D, 4D, and interactive shows. Each was interesting and a full experience. The Nautilus show is definitely for younger kids but it was still interesting and very short. The 4D show was also very short at 15 minutes. We did not eat any food there but we did buy a drink container for the souvenir and it includes free refills for the day. You can easily have food in your car and eat from there because there's only entrance fees when you go into each pyramid and try to enter into the exhibit. Parking was free and easy. Can't imagine how crazy this place gets in the summer since it's not a large area. Recommend going off season if possible but then you might not get to enjoy the beach area.

Yelp
Subpar customer service. Not informative on closures due to weather. 4d theater is not worth the money charged. It has went downhill which is sad being the staple in Galveston that it is.
google avatar

Jeanie Jo C.

Yelp
We splurged and purchased the Annual Plus Membership; it actually makes sense, because it pays for itself in like two visits. It's exciting because it includes unlimited visits to Palm Beach over the summer season, and the lights and ice during the winter season. Having an afternoon open we decided to get an overview of what they have to offer: visited the aquarium, viewed the shark exhibit at the Discovery Museum, rode the colonel paddlewheel boat in Galveston Bay, and walked through the rainforest.

Yelp
There are hundreds of reviews which should adequately provide you with enough information to clue you in upon your arrival, but I thought I would mention a couple of things others may not have. First of all, the cost of the passes here can be quite expensive, but there is a way to save some money. Inside the Moody Gardens hotel lobby is the best kept secret to save money. There are two kiosks by the hotel entrance which have discounted rates for hotel guests, but that discount applies to anyone using those two kiosks. If you use the kiosks at the Moody visitors center, you will pay full price. For a family of four, you could probably save about $100 at the hotel kiosk. Our value pass at the hotel was $65 each which got us in to everything including movies and the paddlewheel. The second best secret is to come during the first week of January while all the Christmas exhibits are still open, including the amazing Iceland exhibit! The Iceland exhibit is something you definitely do not want to miss. No crowds or lines either. That same week you can get some insanely cheap rates at the Moody Hotel as well. We stayed four nights for around $500. By the second week of January the Iceland and Christmas trail of lights all come down and hotel rates go up. Needless to say, all waterpark events are closed during this time. There's a million other things I could say about this place, but much of it has already been said, so I'll stick to these simple revelations. Photos of Iceland exhibit included.

Yelp
Infinitely better than the Houston Aquarium, the Moody Gardens are the prime location for aquatic life. The Moody Gardens are divided into 3 pyramids, of which the Aquarium Pyramid and Rainforest Pyramid are must visits. With all the wildlife in the Rainforest Pyramid, it also doubles as a zoo in addition to an aquarium. I vastly prefer the Moody Gardens to the Houston Aquarium, which was around 90% amusement park rides and 10% aquarium. The Discovery Museum is the third pyramid and the least essential to visit of the 3. It's a shark-themed museum that just feels like an extension of the Aquarium Pyramid. It's cool if you're into sharks though.
google avatar

Nicolas B.

Yelp
Omg perfect place to get steps in have fun with friends and family as well as interesting I saw an axolotol and is pursued me to keep searching as well as bug pryamids and the water park is perfect expensive but worth it
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Both good and bad here. Some exhibits are really great such as the aquarium and the rainforest. Others like the dinosaurs outside and the discovery museum need work. Broken, old, or just a digital picture aren't good enough in this day and age. Boat ride was a nice experience, they do have cocktails for purchase. Food outlets ranged from functional to terrible. We ate in the rainforest restaurant. Buffet was a sad state of old unattended food but the sandwiches were ok. Chef stood at door on his phone instead of looking at the mess of the buffet. That could be a great source of income if done better.

Yelp
I did the one day pass for everything. We spent about 4.5 hours here. We came on a Friday so it was fairly busy. There are 3 pyramids - rainforest, discovery, and aquarium plus ice land and Festival of lights. The rainforest and discovery closed at like 4 pm and the aquarium closed at 7 pm. I'm not going to talk about those pyramids, you can find my reviews on their individual pages. The ice land is definitely worth checking out. It's very cold in there and I live in Chicago. They automatically give you a parka but please bring a hat and gloves. They did an awesome job with the ice sculptures. There is even a slide that you can go on, since it's ice you won't be sliding down as easily as a water slide. They also have areas that you can buy hot drinks, snacks, and souvenirs.
google avatar

Kelly B.

Yelp
This is a review of the rainforest pyramid. Wow! I did not expect this to be so amazing. I'm in my thirties and my parents are in their seventies and we had a blast here. Probably spent a couple hours here exploring. There are so many rainforest animals! It was fascinating trying to locate some of the birds and the sloths in the largest open part of the pyramid where the animals just roam free. So cool. Some of the caged insects and arachnids were SO interesting. Never seen anything like them before! I recommend going, it's worth the money. I felt like a kid again seeing all these animals for the first time!
google avatar

D T.

Yelp
Iceland & holiday lights! The ice sculptures are unreal! Dress warm it is 6 degrees. Absolutely beautiful! They will provide a parka for you, but don't forget the gloves & hat.
google avatar

Gary W.

Yelp
At this time I can only review the venue where a MMA fight was held. The arena was spacious, the air was quite cold and the entertainment was top notch. If you park in the parking garage to the right of the hotel, take the first entrance and stay left or you will be heading down to employee parking and have to back up.

Kirstyn K.

Yelp
The rooms are pricy for what you get. The service was horrible I was overcharged on my card. I called to try and sort it out and the lady kept putting me on hold to assist someone else. Very unprofessional especially when I was charged an extreme amount that I did not spend.
google avatar

Yelp
My visit to Moody Gardens in Galveston was an absolute delight! Despite the slightly higher cost, the experience was worth every penny. While I didn't manage to explore all the attractions due to time constraints with the all-day pass, I can confidently say that the aquarium pyramid alone made the trip worthwhile. It's hands down the most impressive aquarium I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. The Rainforest Pyramid was equally captivating, offering an immersive experience that left me in awe. Moody Gardens truly delivers an unforgettable adventure for nature enthusiasts and families alike. Additionally, the paddle boat ride was a delightful tour of the area's stunning houses, adding another layer of charm to the experience.
google avatar

Amanda H.

Yelp
The hotel is absolutely beautiful and worth the stay. The attractions and seasonal events are always wonderful. I'm so glad that the annual Wild Game Cookoff has here now, so much more room and parking! Definitely a staple for tourists and residents alike!

Melissa C.

Yelp
I visited the Aquarium and the Rainforest sections and was impressed by both. The aquarium tanks were some of the largest and I depth tanks I have seen. You get to walk around them at multiple levels making unique viewing. If visiting the Rainforest area during a time of year where you are dressed warmly-I would recommend wearing a sweater that you can remove- it's hot in the top section of the rainforest. But it's worth it. Beautiful all around.
google avatar

Judy L.

Yelp
I only visited the Rainforest Pyramid. The price is steep, but it was a cool experience. I liked the birds that were loose and flying around, the monkey just hanging on the handrail, and all the giant fish-spectacular. The sloth was sleeping on top of a giant pipe so didn't get to see it move but I thought it was fun. The end of the "trail" is filled with displays of bugs/insects, not for the faint of heart if you are afraid of spiders and giant Madagascar hissing cockroaches. Saw many people walk through that last part quickly not even stopping to examine the giant walking sticks that were not what I expected...
google avatar

Thomas H.

Yelp
If you're looking an aquarium to take your kids to, don't bother wasting your time and money on that downtown aquarium. Take the ride out to Galveston for this one. It has plenty more exhibits, including penguins and sea lions. There's also a snack bar towards the end of the exhibit. You can can also re-enter to double check anything you missed!
google avatar

Indira M.

Yelp
It was a perfect night to visit, Monday. No crowds but a nice number of people. There was time and room to stop and watch and entire musical display without someone blocking or trying to get your place. The 12 Days if Christmas had folks clapping along and singing. It was wonderful to watch each of the images light up as the song was being played. Walking at a leisurely pace it took about 40 minutes to go through and see all the lights. The ice sculptures are not included in the Festival of lights. A separate ticket was required. Our group also had tickets to the Festival of Lights buffet and I must say it was much better than I expected for a buffet. Salad fixings, a lot of hot and cold vegetables (though I have to admit cold brussel sprouts were unexpected). There were several main course items, roast beef, salmon, ham, chicken cordon bleu, hamburger sliders (these were over-done from sitting in the warmer), meatballs. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few. Overall I would do the buffet again. It included non-alcoholic drinks as well as dessert and coffee.

Yelp
Love Moody Gardens.. I hold an Annual Pass .. I love it !! Go any time you like... get your steps in .. see the animals & the marine life .. relax in the lazy pool ... zip line park .. documentary films .. an ABSOLUTELY JOY... benefits the animals & supports Galveston =)

Yelp
We purchased tickets for the aquarium and rainforest garden. Our first adventure was through the rainforest exhibit. As you enter, there are several interactive areas that allow you to hear the sounds of the rainforest. However, many of them weren't working. As we stepped into the actual rainforest, you will notice the extreme heat and humidity. However, there are many cooling fans throughout the tour and once you get to the lower level the temperature is more comfortable. You will also notice the gigantic plants, trees and vegetation throughout the rainforest. I think we were all in awe of how huge these plants and trees grow. The beautiful birds and other animals are quite a sight to see! Many of them are flying and freely roaming around. There were a number of knowledgeable staff stationed around the exhibit ready to talk about the different animals and birds. We LOVED it. After the rain forest exhibit, we took a lunch break at the exhibit's restaurant. The individual plates were almost as expensive as the buffet, so we all decided to get the buffet. Unfortunately, the food just wasn't that great. The atmosphere was nice and the staff was really pleasant and helpful. The Aquarium portion of the exhibit was really fun. The tanks were loaded with sea life and snakes and insects. It was all so amazing to see. Kids and adults really enjoyed the tour. There's so much more to see at Moody Gardens. I would definitely go back and check out the other activities. It was really fun and well worth the cost. I would definitely recommend.

Yelp
It's been years since our last visit. It's still quite pricey for a family of 4, so be sure to have enough stamina to do all of it, otherwise save some money by only doing your most favorite ones (most likely Rainforest and Aquarium). We started in the Rainforest which was busy, but not too crowded so you could actually see birds, fish, bats and other wildlife while being able to smell the flowers and take pictures. Aquarium was next, again busy, but not overly crowded. Lots of small children as can be expected. Up next was the Discovery pyramid, which was ok, focused a lot on sounds and music, but not all of the "hands on" instruments worked properly. Afterwards we went to the live dinosaur exhibit, which was pretty neat, especially since one of the kiddos likes Dino's. We had every intention of going on the Paddleboat ride, but we were starving and were not going to spend outrageous money on some pretzels or stale popcorn. We did buy an overpriced bottle of water for $5!!!!

Joel A.

Yelp
We took our daughter here during our mini weekend vacation and my family enjoyed ourselves and will go again!
google avatar

Yelp
Moody Gardens is the place to hit up in Galveston with kids or kids at heart. The rainforest and aquarium combo pricing is a high at $54 per adult but a cool place to visit! The rainforest has birds walking around and you can get right up to some animals including a monkey that does what she wants. They also have an ocelot and some sloths but didn't see those because they were off hiding. Friendly staff in the rainforest. The aquarium was cool as well, especially the jellyfish section. We enjoyed our time at Moody Gardens!
google avatar

Heather D.

Yelp
Took an impromptu family trip to Moody Gardens with a four year old and an eighteen month old after a recommendation from a friend. We enjoyed the rainforest pyramid and the aquarium pyramid. Staff was very friendly and took time to explain the animals to our children. The discovery pyramid left little to do, I was under the impression it would be more interactive and age appropriate activities. We spent about three hours at Moody Gardens but left to find a more suitable place to run off energy.
google avatar

Certified G.

Yelp
Kind of fun, but pretty expensive, we did the aquarium and rain forest. Worth going at least once in your life.
google avatar

Roxanne B.

Yelp
Definitely a must!! Visit on a Tuesday $70 for all exhibits and it was not busy at all!!! The rainforest was the best!! Neat seeing all the birds flying around and I read it was hot but it wasn't at all!! It was misting inside for the animals so your hair will get messy;) The aquarium had a lot of cool fish, sea lions, stingrays you could touch and even penguins!!! The Dino alive was cheesy more geared towards young kids but still entertaining. The wings over the ocean in 3D was very cool! Definitely plan to be there all day and plan out your movie experiences as you don't want to miss those. Overall a GREAT day!!!!
google avatar

Tyiekia A.

Yelp
Theres a bit of walking involved but not too much. Easy to get around.. the aquarium was entirely too basic for me, but the rainforest was pretty interesting. For what's displayed, I would say it's overpriced but it's a decent experience.

Yelp
Aquarium - 10 out of 10 Size and duration of tour - 3 out of 10 Price - 1 out of 10 We purchased the aquarium package only. The aquarium was amazing. Lots of amazing fish, sea life, penguins and sting rays. The kids had a blast. Beautiful environment. The size of the place was MUCH smaller than expected. When we got done with the tour, everyone was like, "Wait, what?! That's it?" We were there for maybe 30-45 minutes. The price for 2 adults and 2 kids was $140. For that much out of placket I feel there should have been more to do.
google avatar

Russell H.

Yelp
Nice but very small. It will only take you about 45 minutes for see everything. The food court needs to do better. The tables were all dirty. The aquarium as a whole is very nice. I do recommend.

Sherry S.

Yelp
I want to give this place a 5 star because I really liked it. Their staff though bring it to a 3 at best. First there is kiosks to self purchase things, but I was trying to figure out if we wanted the more expensive all inclusive deal. He was less than helpful. Also, we made comments about how we were reading 20,000 leagues under the sea by Jules Verne and he said the show was not about that. He then spent two minutes describing the show. We went to the show and it was 100% NOT how he described it. It also is very much based on the book. Super weird. Repeatedly, when I would ask staff questions they were unable to answer. Not one staff person was accommodating. $70 is like 1/2 the price of Disneyland but not a tenth of the service. Aquarium 5 stars! Rainforest 5 stars! They just need to train their staff better!

Julie W.

Yelp
Excellent service. Kind. Responsive. I would recommend to others. Great restaurant and views

Debra K.

Yelp
Paid $14 for water at this place which is ridiculous and then the rude lady with white hair and a pony tale made me throw it away! Bad policy and totally a money making gimmick on your behalf. Shame on you! That is not stated anywhere in your information. I'd like a refund. If you think that's ridiculous then so is your no water bottle policy you sold me not to mention the whole aquarium is a joke and could be so much better and your staff is rude and ignore your questions. Waste of money to not be able to see through the dirty water in the tanks not to mention the tanks obviously closed. Not one mention as you walk in the doors that the waters dirty or needs cleaning as we pay $60 per person to come in to see dirty water and be treated rudely by your staff. I won't be doing this again and I'm sure to tell anyone who asks about Moody Aqaurium to don't waste your money to be this aggravated and disappointed

Ellen P.

Yelp
Very deceiving! The beach appears to lead down into the water, but there is no water access from the beach and not handicap friendly at all.
google avatar

Amber G.

Yelp
I highly recommend buying your tickets inside the lobby of the moody gardens hotel and not online, you save a TON of money! The rainforest pyramid and aquarium were just ok, i think i just had higher expectations‍
google avatar

Rosemary C.

Yelp
We had a day pass to Palm Beach, such a regret, we were ready to leave after an hour.. First, the good. Tessa in the gift shop offered great customer service, going above and beyond. The rest of the staff...from parking attendants to the Palm Beach manager, HORRIBLE service. They were rude and the manager basically had a so sad too bad for you attitude. The beach itself was eh, possibly could have enjoyed it better but the rude service dampened the fun.

Yelp
First time here, mid-November, and we practically had the place to ourselves! We started off at the aquarium which was very well done. Somewhat small but they pack it in with so many animals. And for COVID, they have a good route mapped out for everyone to stay safe. The rainforest is amazing, especially entry through the rainforest canopy. I think it would be helpful to have a guide to point out animals as it's pretty tough to spot anything on your own, but birds and fish are plentiful. I would give the Discovery museum a pass because it seemed a bit dated, and much of the equipment seemed in disrepair. I missed all the movies because we got here around 1pm and were distracted by all the other attractions. Mommy (& daddy) Wednesday meant we got the value pass at $30, but you have to have 1 kid per adult. I don't think I would pay more than that for the day as prices are somewhat steep otherwise. An individual pyramid is $36.

Yelp
We purchased an annual membership and realized you can't get the benefit of the perks. There is a 25% discount for animal encounters but the calendar is always full and you can't get the discount applied to your tickets if you purchase online. You're left with going up to the ticket counter and getting turned away. When I called to speak to the manager, Brandon Cisneros, I was told he'd rather have unhappy customers and lose my sale instead of helping me over the phone. I would not recommend getting the membership if you think it's going to come with extra perks.

Yelp
Been coming here for years (since I was a child and now in my 30's), and I still appreciate the park. It's a bit touristy (food options are very priced, and there's huge gift shops in every building), but it's still an inviting venue. Everything is clean & well-maintained, and the plants & animals seem to be cared for. The theater features & discovery museum are heavily geared to children, so it's a great time spent with family. The aquarium houses a variety of sea life (penguins & sea lions are the ones to note), and the rainforest showcases many live plants & birds. There isn't much stimulation, so it can get rather dull for those who want more thrill.... Otherwise, adults can still appreciate the scenic walk arounds and a lengthy ferry ride with the admission. With over a handful of exhibits & shows, the all-Inclusive value pass is the best bargain. Just keep in mind that you're likely going to spend your entire day there, if you want to check everything off the list. You'll also want to pace yourself accordingly & keep track of the time, as some things are on a strict schedule and the park is only open from 10am to 4pm. If you're in Galveston, it's worth checking out at least once.

Yelp
Something for everyone- year round. Don't miss out on the Holiday in the Gardens. Ice Land is so impressive!
