Moon Dog Excursions

Really great tour with Moon Dog out of Rockport ME. The boat: lobster boat, very clean and very comfortable, we were a party of 3 but definitely space for 6, head, large cooler with ice and water & sodas. Your captain: Jonathan is a Rockport native who has been on the water since he was a kid, friendly, knowledgeable, and will focus on your interests...ours was lighthouses and sightseeing. I will add that Jonathan was really good with our adult son who has Down syndrome (see photo). We had a wonderful morning and would love to go out with Moon Dog when we return to Rockport.

We had an incredible time on our wildlife boat tour! Was so nice to be dog friendly and our pups loved all the sights and smells. Highly recommend to anyone looking for something to do in the area. Will certainly book again if we are in the area!

We had an incredible experience on our Moon Dog journey.   Jon is an amazing captain with a lifetime of experience on the local waters of Penobscot Bay in and around the Camden and Rockport area.  On our route to a local island, we saw harbor seals, porpoises, bald eagles and osprey.  Jon provided all the comforts we needed.  Paddle boarding into the island from Moon Dog was a highlight for all of us. Jon shuttled in all the food supplies we needed for a relaxing afternoon.  When my family returns to the area, we will book another Moon Dog excursion.

Moon Excursions and Jonathon are excellent! On time, beautiful sunset cruise with lots of animals and things to see. He took the time with us to explain and make us feel welcome! Highly recommend Moon Excursions - we will be going back for another excursion next year!

Captain Jonathan gave us a great tour of the waterways of Rockport into Camden. We saw lots of seals, native birds and porpoises. He was super friendly and answered all of our questions about the area and the wildlife. We thoroughly enjoyed enjoyed our cruise and learned a lot about the area.

Jonathan, Moondog’s captain/owner, provided the nicest experience we have had on the sea in the Rockport area in several years here as full timers. He is a marvelous soul, generous of spirit, and well versed in the entire Penobscot Bay Area. And he’s wholly dedicated to the traditions of both a lobsterman and a passionate native. His stories of the area and its experiences are wonderful and his navigation is both careful and superb. And he was so great with our grandchildren, seeking out seals and other wildlife and highlights along our route just for them. His rapport with them was lovely. We enjoyed a wonderful cookout on an island in the Bay, replete with the freshest and best tasting lobster we have ever had here in Maine (or anywhere else), with corn, oysters and other great accompaniments, all served on fresh-from-the-sea seaweed scooped from the Bay. And paddle boards which were provided by Jonathan. His generous heart and love of the area makes a booking on Moondog the highlight of the season in Maine. Thank you Jonathan ~ well done!

We had a fun morning trip on the Moon Dog with Jonathan. 4 adults and one 3-1/2 year old. Jonathan is a wealth of information, and we saw lots of wildlife--including seals, porpoises, cormorants and even a very large bald eagle!

My high school students and I had the most magical day on Moondog yesterday. I’ve never seen them so happy before in fact! Jon is an awesome captain and made sure we had the best day. We saw a ton of seals basking on Robinson Rock (so cute!) had a fantastic time swimming/dunking, walking, eating and relaxing on an island beach. And to make the day even more special (hard to do!) we came across a humpback WHALE on the way home!! Incredibly rare to see that in the bay, so there was a LOT of very happy screaming following the whale home. Hands down best day of the year for me and my students. Thank you Moondog!
