Moon Dog Excursions

We had an incredible experience on our Moon Dog journey.   Jon is an amazing captain with a lifetime of experience on the local waters of Penobscot Bay in and around the Camden and Rockport area.  On our route to a local island, we saw harbor seals, porpoises, bald eagles and osprey.  Jon provided all the comforts we needed.  Paddle boarding into the island from Moon Dog was a highlight for all of us. Jon shuttled in all the food supplies we needed for a relaxing afternoon.  When my family returns to the area, we will book another Moon Dog excursion.

My high school students and I had the most magical day on Moondog yesterday. I’ve never seen them so happy before in fact! Jon is an awesome captain and made sure we had the best day. We saw a ton of seals basking on Robinson Rock (so cute!) had a fantastic time swimming/dunking, walking, eating and relaxing on an island beach. And to make the day even more special (hard to do!) we came across a humpback WHALE on the way home!! Incredibly rare to see that in the bay, so there was a LOT of very happy screaming following the whale home. Hands down best day of the year for me and my students. Thank you Moondog!

We had a great time on the Island Excursion trip. Jonathan was excellent at communication / helpful with day of directions / and accommodating. I highly recommend Moon Dog!

Jonathan is extremely personable and syncs your trip to your desires. The boat is a Lobster boat with chairs and love seats-very comfortable!. We went on a day trip and another evening a happy hour, sunset trip. We shucked and ate fresh oysters on the boat while watching the sunset!! Did NOT disappoint!!

My wife and I drove to Maine for the trip of a lifetime. Doing the quintessential “New England” things that Maine is famous for and memories we could cherish. We booked with Captain Jon and Moondog Excursions and we are so thrilled we did. Captain Jon has a wonderful vessel set up perfectly for a cruise on a lobster boat, but with extra care and detail all over the vessel. He was more than accommodating and personable. His expertise of the water and the surrounding Maine coast was admirable. We cruised for 45 minutes past a super cool lighthouse and saw seals and bald eagles. Upon arriving at our private island destination, Captain Jon took us ashore on his side vessel and let us explore the shoreline as he prepared lobster, clams, corn on the cob for us. The meal was literally amazing. I wasn’t a lobster lover like some but after that meal, I am. My wife and I would consider the day one of the most memorable, and wonderful days of our 35 years together. It was the little details that Captain Jon did that we were also very aware and appreciative of. And to anyone wanting a trip of a lifetime, this one is it! Thanks Captain Jon!

I have taken my kids, friends from nearby and friends who live outside of Maine on Jonathan's boat, and each and every time, people walk away saying the trip was one of their favorites outdoor experiences of all time. Jonathan grew up in the area and knows the topography, history and people of the Midcoast so well. He's an exceptional guide.

We had always wanted to go out on a lobster boat so when we road our bikes from Illinois we booked an excursion with Moondog …….what a trip! Jonathan way exceeded our expectations ! We caught lobster and even though the weather was a little rough, we still had an over the top experience!!! Our guide answered every question we had making it totally awesome !!
