"Moon Dog Brewery Bar in Abbotsford, a good glimpse into Melbourne's craft beer scene, makes some really inventive brews, some created by adding, say, watermelon or truffle to the vat. Last time we were there, we tucked into jugs of Splice of Heaven pine-lime IPA, a little tropical number, and finished with a Cake Hole black forest stout. For the less adventurous, there’s the Love Tap lager or Old Mate pale ale, plus cocktails, wines, and spirits for the beer-averse. Everyone behind the bar is a beer lover, so don't be shy about asking for more info about what's on tap. Every Thursday night and Saturday afternoon, one of the bartenders leads a tour of the brewery." - Carrie Hutchinson

"What's the story with this place? Brewers Josh and Jake Uljans and Karl van Buuren aren’t known for playing it safe, and this spot, an old brick warehouse that's surrounded by workshops, suits that personality. Imagine if you furnished a vast, lofty room with mismatched vintage sofas and armchairs, old picnic tables, murals, and potted palms, and you’ve pictured Moon Dog, in Abbotsford. Cool. So who’s drinking inside? Laidback beer lovers who’ve never said no to a schooner (a 10-ounce beer glass) at any time of the day. Don't be afraid to wear jeans and sneakers—it's like a uniform here. Give us the details on the beer. Moon Dog makes some really inventive brews, some created by adding, say, watermelon or truffle to the vat. For the less adventurous, there’s the Love Tap lager or Old Mate pale ale, but check out the seasonal and specialty offerings. Last time we were there, we tucked into jugs of Splice of Heaven pine-lime IPA, a little tropical number, and finished with a Cake Hole black forest stout, which was a little like a German gateau in a bottle. There are cocktails, wines, and spirits for the beer-averse. Any snacks available? If you start to feel hungry, there’s a van out the front that serves pizza. Did the staff do you right? Everyone behind the bar is a beer lover, so don't be shy about asking for more info about what's on tap. Every Thursday night and Saturday afternoon, one of the bartenders leads a tour of the brewery. Wrap it up: What are we coming here for? While Melbourne isn’t Portland (yet), there’s a strong craft beer scene, and this is a brilliant place to get a taste of it." - Carrie Hutchinson

Brewery has a great beer, but the real highlight is their all-you-can-eat pizza on Thursdays. The pizzas are delicious, and the crust is simply amazing! A must-try for pizza lovers!

Fun spot with a cool bit of decor and plenty of mismatched but comfortable lounges and chairs along the place. The beers are great and the seltzers are varied - lots of beverages for all of the crew to check out. Pool table is a nice addition

First time at MoonDog OG. Staff were super polite and fast with service. They have a great range on tap along with plenty of seltzer options. A nice small venue. The pizza was decent but not for the price. We would come again

This place is cool. The service is excellent, and I need to make a call out to Renee for her great customer service. I tried a Splice of Heaven - Pine Lime IPA which was absolutely delicious. The Tropical Crush alcoholic seltzer was a mango tasting drink, and soo yummy. My other favorite drink was a Dream Cake Coconut Cake Imperial Dark Ale. This ale was absolutely moorish, just perfect. It was like drinking a dark chocolate cake, its was just perfect. We also shared some pizzas. A vegetarian and another meat pizza which was good but the vegetarian one was a winner! Overall it was a great experience and it won't be 4 years before I go back next time haha. My partner and I shared a few drinks. Previous review - January 2016 This place is good fun. A little microbrewery in the industrial area of Richmond/Abbotsford. Interesting beers like watermelon beer, which tastes surprisingly good. It's a cool little place, perfect for a craft beer and they have a pizza van next door.

I recently visited this spot for a party, and it was a great time. The vibe was laid-back, and the area we booked with couches off to the side was perfect for our group. Although it was a bit loud, that’s to be expected at a bar, and it didn’t take away from the fun. The cider and pizza hit the spot. The venue also had an event for the AFL finals, where free drinks were involved, which made the experience even better.

This place is an absolute local institution and can’t close! It’s a social hub for doggie loving humans, beer loving humans, human loving doggos, family friendly and an important inclusive community space! Please please please keep it open!

Great crafted beer selection and interesting setup hipster bar with an awesome vibe and good music. Food options are limited to pizza which is a bit disappointing. The pizza is fabulous but a bit pricy. They have Tuesday pizza nights which you can get 10 bucks pizza.

Have been coming here every week for trivia for about 4 months, and we normally love it. Came today and ordered 3 pizzas at 7:30 (as trivia was starting), using a gift voucher from winning a previous trivia. At 8:30, pizzas still hadn’t arrived so we double checked with the bar staff. They let us know that because the payment was on a gift card, and went through as a “split payment” that the order hadn’t gone through to the pizza chefs. We asked could we be compensated due to the long wait (and because we would have been leaving soon when the quiz was over) but were immediately told no, before the staff walked off. Pizzas eventually arrived at 9:10, nearly 2 hours after ordering, with no apology. We love the trivia (especially Luke!) and the pizza was delicious, but don’t think we will be returning. There have been a few other instances where the staff came across rude but never enough to leave a review, but this was the last straw for us
