Disappointing – Not Worth the Price
Unfortunately, my stay at this resort on Koh Tao was a real disappointment. The price was relatively high – even considering that Koh Tao is generally more expensive than other parts of Thailand. But in the end, the value for money was simply not there.
When I arrived, it was immediately clear that the resort and buildings were very run-down. It felt like time had stood still here. I went to the reception and asked to see a bungalow before booking, as I currently live on Koh Phangan and wasn’t in a rush to book something from abroad.
The resort is spread out over several areas. A young woman from the staff took me up into the hills by motorbike to show me the bungalow – a route that would be really difficult to manage on foot with luggage. I’m a sporty person, but I was already sweating by the time we arrived.
At first glance, everything seemed very basic and minimal. Still, I spontaneously decided to stay for a week. After the first night, however, I realized it felt more like staying in a “lost place.” I had no neighbors at all – the whole resort felt abandoned, and I was basically alone in the middle of the jungle.
The bungalow was extremely dirty, and I quickly found myself sharing it with all kinds of insects and wildlife. Luckily, I asked for a mosquito net at check-in, or staying there wouldn’t have been possible for me. I had huge spiders, massive geckos, scorpions, ants, and other creatures living with me – see attached photos. Snakes were also not uncommon around the resort.
Honestly, it felt more like a paid experience to sleep in an abandoned place than a proper resort stay. I had imagined that if I ever spent time in a “lost place”, it would be free – not at this price.
So, a clear warning to anyone planning a holiday here as a couple or family: if you’re not looking to sleep in the wild surrounded by nature, this is definitely the wrong place – just check the photos.
To be fair, for hardcore nature lovers who enjoy falling asleep and waking up to jungle sounds in complete solitude, this might be a unique experience. But if you’re expecting a clean, welcoming, and well-kept resort for what you’re paying, prepare to be disappointed.
