Best of Portland
Moonday Coffee

Google
Because of the high ratings, I expected a coffee with a stronger aroma and brighter acidity. Instead, their coffee leans more toward a stable, smooth flavor. There were a few minor shortcomings, but overall, it’s still the best spot in Portland. The baristas are super friendly and really skilled.

Great coffee shop serving speckled axe. The owner here was super friendly and indulged our questions about getting into coffee. Speckled Axe coffee beans are used. I had the Ethiopian pour over which was excellent and extremely clean and well prepared. My wife had the chai and it was so tasty and perfectly balanced with lots of spice. We had our drinks to go but it if you sit down there are nice handmade ceramic drink ware for your coffee/tea. Highly recommend this place! Wonderful experience and one of the coolest cafes I’ve been to on the East coast.

My favorite espresso I had while on vacation in Portland! Came here twice and it was very consistent. Small shop with limited space/seating but the owners are very sweet and the espresso is perfect. Bonus that they prioritize sustainability with all compostable packaging.

After one week in the ogunquit area, I had not found good coffee. Arriving here was heaven! It’s one of the best flat white’s I’ve ever had! I’m from Montreal and this coffee shop has nothing to envy from there ! And the pastry’s WOW! Can’t wait to come back to Portland just for Moonday Coffee

I have very high standards for coffee, and Moonday far surpasses them. David (the owner) has a true talent for coffee making and I highly recommend putting this spot on the list if you are in the area! Have had many different drinks and they were all amazing

Moonday embodies all the charm Portland has to offer. Thoughtful, kind, and full of flavor. The coffee is on point, the pastries from Mari make an already exceptional experience even better, and the service is stellar. My husband and I loved spending time out on the patio while enjoying coffee and blueberry pastries. Does not get any better than this. Go here.

Let me be v. clear, I was NOT a coffee snob...until Moonday. I'm a little embarrassed to admit this but I was quite comfortable with Starbucks or whatever the street had to offer me. Coffee was really just a vehicle for cream and sugar and an over-priced handwarmer (I know, I'm a bad person) but all that has changed. I now see the transformation that coffee goes through when treated with extreme skill and care. David brings the art to artisanal coffee. My go to are the cappuccinos and my partner who has family in India says that the chai is v. legit (if you crave your sweet chai latte from Starbs, this might not be for you though). I can now confidently bring my out of town coffee-snob friends to Moonday and know they won't leave Portland talking trash about our coffee! Edit: My father-in-law who is Indian is obsessed with the chai here. We spent the afternoon talking about how it rivals (beats?) the chai he's had outside of India. Hopefully he'll have it a few more times before he leaves!

This cafe is located in a refurbished shipping container. So it's very tight when it gets busy. There are a couple if benches and small tables on the side. I got the maple latte and a danish. The latte was the perfect sweetness level and tasted amazing. The danish was sundried tomato, ricotta, and pesto. It was heaven!

Yelp
Lovely coffee, maple latte was exactly the sweetness level I enjoy. Delicious and large pastries with great price. Friendly and efficient service even with a line on Sunday. It's cozy with only inside standing room to enjoy

Yelp
This tiny little coffee shop is truly special. It's in the container pop-ups on busy Washington Ave., but the moment you walk in I swear you're enveloped in serenity. Partly it's because of the design: the space is small and narrow, but with glass windows on one side that let the light in, so it feels larger somehow. In addition to the coffee counter there are display cases for Thicket Jewelry (they share the space) and a curated selection of other items for sale, such as pretty glass coffee pots and cups and Moonday's own simple, beautiful ceramic cups. And there's just something about the vibe that is part of that serenity too. They use our local Speckled Ax coffee, which is rich and terrific, and I always feel like the drinks are crafted with genuine care. For a treat I recommend their maple latte, which is delicious! There are usually a few baked goods for purchase too from the mini bakery that shares the space (I always grab one of the sea salt & rosemary shortbread cookies when they're available). You can stand at the small counter along the window to have your coffee there (room for a few people) or in nice weather, sit at one of the little tables outside. Regardless of when you drop in, you can count on having a perfect coffee drink and I guarantee you'll soak up some of that wonderful peaceful vibe too, and leave feeling like the world is just a little bit brighter.

Yelp
It's a very small shop and I wasn't expecting it to be that small in size. It's in a modern shipping container shared with other businesses separated by walls. I got the maple latte. It was my first time trying it and loved it!! 5/5 The cashier and barista were very friendly. No indoor seating unfortunately but there is some outdoor seating.

Yelp
Iced coffee was excellent. Service phenomenal, and atmosphere cute as a button. Rosemary shortbread cookie is a must try!

Yelp
Stopped in for a morning mocha - delicious! The coffee was smooth with excellent chocolate mix. They offer oat milk for the non dairy option. Neat little shop.

Yelp
This tiny coffee shop is awesome!! The owner is super friendly and their coffee is fantastic :) Their pastries by Mari are also so good, so make sure you grab something if some are available!! They offer both whole milk and oat milk, and their maple latte is top notch!

Yelp
Great single origin espresso and friendly people. Walkable to a lot in the area. Calm vibe. No seating but there was a standing bar area

Yelp
Love the vibe & views. The coffee tasted so good and the service was great. There is a garden outside with so many butterflies. It's a unique place and overall we had a great experience.

Yelp
Great coffee - got an iced with oat milk and it was just right proportion of milk and espresso. They have cute outdoor seating on the side of the cafe.

Yelp
Moonday had our favorite coffee in Portland! It's a small shop with a little bit of outdoor seating. It borders a park/viewpoint so it's easy to take your coffee and hike out back. It was a super pleasant way to kick off a morning of walking around. We got a flat white and cortado. Both were excellent! The barista had some great recommendations for the city. We were really pleased we stopped here.

Yelp
Small shop but amazing coffee. Can be a bit busy but Ice chia latte was amazing. Definitely worth getting

Yelp
It's a cute coffee shop with few tables outside. My latte was delicious. It had nice silky foam. The design was beautiful. Barista did an amazing job. Everyone was friendly. They also have very good looking pastries and nice jewelry. I would definitely come back. My daughter loved the pastry she tried.

So nice to walk into a place where they are genuinely kind and happy to see you. Serving a delicious latte and tea

Yelp
Really smooth delicious coffee!! A favorite of mine while visiting Portland this past week.

Yelp
Easily the best coffee in Portland! And the pastries were delicious. The owner/barista was so friendly and made our drinks with care while chatting with us.

Yelp
Simple and cute coffee shop. You need to try the iced maple latte!! I just wish it came in a bigger size. They also sell beautiful handcrafted jewelry!

Eugene K.

Yelp
Best latte I've ever had in my life, hands down. The care and craft that David puts into every drink is exceptional and inspiring. As a bonus, Moonday also sells delicious pastry treats by Kelsey Mari and jewelry by Thicket: unique handmade pieces that capture the delicate beauty of natural shapes like wild rose thorns and cardamom pods. Don't come to Portland without visiting this place!

Yelp
This place is a gem! The pour over, cortado, and cappuccino were all perfect-- I couldn't ask for anything better. This is easily the best place we tried in Portland.
