Moonfleet Manor, Nr Weymouth, Dorset, England - Explore & Book

"It's not often you find somewhere that delights every member of the family. In all honesty, previous experiences of family hotels with my lot have been disappointing, but Moonfleet Manor changed all that and exceeded every expectation. Perfect for those with younger children (2 hours of free childcare per night's stay – heck yes!), but equally fun for hard-to-please pre-teens, it has something for everyone. Set in a grand Georgian mansion on a lagoon behind Chesil Beach, there are activities galore: indoor pool, crazy golf, indoor football, arcade games and movie nights for the kids, plus a spa, and delightful restaurant. Staff are hugely welcoming and fun, and we all felt right at home within minutes. Your four-legged pals are equally welcome, and why not bring your friends, sister, or granny too? Spacious bedrooms have a sleek New-England-meets-Scandi seaside vibe – and not a wipe-clean sofa in sight! But you won't be in them much. Fellow guests gushed about how much they loved the place with the variety of fun things to do. This plus the laid-back atmosphere and the setting make it the only family hotel we're planning to return to. Highs Comfortable country-house vibe that will delight kids of all ages, and dogs too Far-reaching views of the sea and surrounding fields A plethora of fun activities both indoor and out – truly something for everyone in the family Close proximity to Dorset's greatest attractions – fossil beaches, Chesil Beach, Weymouth Lows Despite being behind Chesil Beach, you have to go to Abbotsbury or Weymouth to access the beach, but you can get onto the coastal path The restaurant has received mixed feedback for quality and service, but we enjoyed the food when we stayed Dogs are allowed in all rooms. Note there is a small additional charge for your four-legged pal, but they get a bowl, bed and treats" - Kate Parsons

We stayed for a long weekend at the hotel and enjoyed every minute of our stay, they upgraded us to a much better room, provided a bed to our dog and some treats. The swimming pool is great, the facilities to wash the dogs is awesome. Great breakfast with plenty of options. Nice kids clubs and 2 hours complementary daily. Lovely views from the hotel. We will be back soon! Thank you so much Tracey and Wendy! you clearly deserved a nice pay rise ! x

Service is a mixed bag. Between 5 and 1 star depending on the person. Bar and Restaurant 5 star and reception anything but helpful and friendly. shame. Summer flies are an issue not only in the food and drinks area but also in the bedroom and bathroom. Room was extremely hot on arrival. AC unit sitting there off. Could and in my opinion should have been switched on (like is was in Fowey Hall sister hotel). Unpacking with two kids in a sauna like room was less than a good start. We went for a long walk but there was no cartons of water available at reception. Glass bottle or trip to town was the solution. For these prices I expect more. This hotel was probably once a gem but is in serious need of reinvestment.

We just spent 1 night here, and wow what an easy break with our 15 month old son! Incredible facilities in the play barn, a great childrens menu and brilliant Bugaboo cots/highchairs/pushchairs! We didnt use the child care facilities but the activities looked great! Location wise its got amazing views but it is quite remote, with nothing walkable. I have only given 4 stars due to the service. We had to sit in the lounge as we had our dog, but we constantly had to chase for drinks orders. However, the biggest issue we had was our dinner. We ordered and the childrens food came out really quickly, which is great, but the adult food took another 45 minutes to arrive. By then we had ratty tired children who didnt want to be at a table anymore. We also then had issues with the bill, but this was quickly resolved with reception when we realised. Finally, we also ordered our son lunch before we left and after 30 minutes chased for it and it had clearly not been processed through the till, leaving to a hangry toddler! I would visit again and reccomend due to the ease with a toddler but the restaurant and lounge service really does need to be looked at!

Exceeded expectations in every way. The facilities here for kids are second to none, and I cannot emphasise that enough. We went for a weekend and it really wasn’t busy although I think the hotel was fully booked. The bowling lanes, billiards room and loads of spaces were generally available. The staff are incredible. They are so lovely and wonderful with kids, you can tell they’re passionate about giving kids a special time and helping families make special memories. We had Maya serve us a few times at dinner and she’s just wonderful. But really everyone is, it’s a real strength for the hotel. This hotel is absolutely oriented around children and families. You couldn’t stay anywhere better with your little ones. Any parent with young children owes it to themselves to try this hotel even if they’re sceptical, it’ll be a game changer. We saw some less-than-favourable reviews of the food before arriving and I’ve no idea what drove that. The food is wonderful. I challenge you to find a better hotel breakfast anywhere, it’s absolutely delicious. Under 2yr children eat free, yet they still get a whole fillet of salmon, beef ragu etc. I can say even that was delicious because our little one couldn’t finish it so I did! Katie provided massages for both me and my wife whilst out there. She did a wonderful job. Speaking for myself, I wanted a proper deep tissue massage with a bit of relaxation and it was exactly that. Days later I’m still feeling the benefits and my body is flushing the released toxins. Very much recommend the spa if you get a chance. And you can do! There’s an Ofsted-registered nursery on site, and it’s wonderful, and you get 2 hours childcare free every day! Brilliant! Superb hotel. We will be visiting a sister hotel in the New Forest before the year’s out and the grandparents will be invited this time. Just absolutely wonderful. We are so thankful for the wonderful experience the team provided. 5* with enthusiasm.

My 90 year old mum had always wanted to go to Moonfleet Manor for a meal, so for VE Day we visited for afternoon tea. |It was glorious!! |Exactly the right amount of carefully cut, traditional sandwiches, exquisite cakes and the best scones I've ever tasted. No skimping on the jam and cream either! The absolute best item for my mum as a coffee drinker, a POT of coffee to go with her afternoon tea.|I must add the staff were lovely too. Very courteous and friendly and we felt like we were very special people. |Will definitely return for lunch or dinner.|Well done Moonfleet!!

This hotel is only suitable for families it should clearly state that it is not suitable for couples solo adults or groups of adults. This hotel try’s to have ‘two bites of the apple’ and ends up with very disappointed guests not to mention wasting their money and time when they could of booked somewhere more suitable. There are children everywhere! including toddlers in just nappies wondering around the lounge! we booked as a couple absolutely not appropriate, unless you want to be in a nursery/playground environment all the time including the dining room and in all communal areas.

I went here on Easter Saturday with my son for a belated Mother’s Day treat. We have tried different local venues for the past four years for an afternoon tea and this was hands down the worse and most expensive. The unexciting sandwiches with grated cheese and sandwich ham had been prepared and put in a fridge beforehand making the bread dry. The scones looked lovely and were warm but when we went to eat them they had obviously just been pinged in the microwave as they had become hard. The jam tasted like a super saver quality and not an expected conserve with real pieces of strawberry. The pastry on the caramel tart was soft and the other two cakes a raspberry sponge and coffee mousse eclair were of poor cheap quality. The tea did not have any great flavour and could have been less diluted. The best part was my son’s cloudy apple juice. To top it all my son then paid and a service charge was added which wasn’t clearly stated at the time. The afternoon tea shown in pictures in your advertising was certainly not representative of what we were given. This was supposed to be a treat and I felt sorry for my son who had high expectations. I will not be recommending to my friends. I would suggest you: 1/ Make sandwiches fresh with luxury fillings and garnish 2/ Have a choice of fresh cakes inc with crispy pastry 3/ Fresh scones that can be heated at customers request 4/ A conserve with high fruit content 5/ Butter portions also given with scone 6/ Teapot not filled so much and extra teabag. Make the customer aware that the service charge is discretionary.

The accommodation and facilities are great. The staff are lovely and very attentive. Can’t fault it at all. For kids this is the perfect getaway. They have marshmallows round the fire, short movies for toddlers in the cinema room and an Easter egg hunt. They also have a lovely clean swimming pool with good showering facilities. The restaurant is quite overpriced roughly £35-40 each for starters and main course and that’s not including drinks. Bottles of beer are £7 and wine is £10 a glass or £45 a bottle. If you want to go somewhere to meet other families this place is great.

Yelp
Great location, family facilities and staff! The manor is close to the ocean and chesil beach, but surrounded by green fields. Great swimming pool, play barn for the kids and awesome outdoor areas. Has sandpit, swings and small football field. The rooms are not modern but are cosy and tidy. The restaurant and food in general was amazing since the restaurant features a Mediterranean flavour. Pricey on high season it does accommodate and entertain families with children of all ages as well as parents. If you are willing to drive for 15 minutes you'll find Weymouth beach, Lodmoor park that features go karts, sea life, etc! Overall great value for money and lovely service!
