Moonlight Basin is a fantastic destination for anyone looking to experience the beauty of Montana in luxury. The ski terrain is phenomenal, offering diverse runs for all levels and breathtaking views of the Rockies. The accommodations are first-rate, blending rustic charm with modern amenities. The staff at Moonlight Basin are incredibly welcoming and provide excellent service, ensuring a memorable stay. Dining options are varied and delicious, featuring locally sourced ingredients that highlight the flavors of the region. Beyond skiing, Moonlight Basin offers a wide range of activities, including hiking, golfing on a stunning course, and fly fishing in pristine waters. The commitment to preserving the natural environment is evident in the well-maintained trails and facilities. Overall, Moonlight Basin delivers a perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and luxury. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking an extraordinary mountain getaway. Highly recommended!

Google
The property was nice, but Moonlight Basin conveniently did not disclosed that they were planning to charge my party an additional $175 per night, per guest. So after I left, they charged my credit card another $3,200+ on top of the already $4,000+ I paid to stay there. Moonlight Basin needs to be upfront with its guests and not hide this fee until they leave.

Our Niece had her wedding there this past Saturday. It was magnificent! The food was excellent, I had Elk prepared to perfection! Beautiful views, especially with the fire pits going at night. Highly recommend!

Stayed within walking distance of the Mountain Basin lodge. The condo was clean and roomy with great views. Beds were comfortable. We used the clan hot tub a couple of times. Our host had left coffee and tea which was very nice. The only slightly frustrating thing was the construction of new housing near the lodge meant we had to take the long way around to get to our place. Not a big deal but after the long drive up the mountain each day the extra winding drive seemed long. We enjoyed our stay.

I have to give the moonlight clubhouse some props. The food was horrible, but it was consistently horrible, so at least they are reliable. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, rain or shine, If you’re going in there, you’re gonna get some low quality food. Luckily, the portions were small, so you don’t have to endure the food for that long. The breakfast, or lack thereof, was a huge letdown in particular. I’m sorry, but a couple bagels and some parfaits doesn’t constitute a meal. Put a little effort into it! Throw some eggs and bacon out there, for the love of God! In addition, I have to say, that after trying multiple items on the menu, the burger was without a doubt the most disappointing. I ordered it, thinking, “there’s no way they can mess up a burger”, but it ended up being the driest, most tasteless burger I’ve ever eaten. However, I must say that the service was excellent. Furthermore, the resort itself was actually very nice, with plenty of amenities, and high class and comfortable lodging. Also, The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, and likely saved this from being a 1. But, looking on the bright side, this resort has a lot of upside because with decent food options, this is easily a 4 or 5 star.

Beautiful place especially at night the snow twinkles like diamonds! Absolutely stunning! Also you have to check out Blue Moon Bakery they have an awesome pastryand desert selection and the best pizza (pie) you can find in Montana hands down!

Yelp
Me and a group of 3 stayed in Big Sky in the Moonlight community. We made a reservation at the resturant (Moonlight Tabern) on Resi, which was confirmed so we showed up at our allotted time of 7:00pm. The staff said our reservation was canceled, which was never communicated to us, and we had no transportation to get anywhere else in the -10° weather. The manager kept repeating herself about saying it was members only (although that wasn't said on Resi), and tried to say there was a shuttle running into town, but there isn't after 5:35. There were 3-5 tables taken and plenty of tables open to seat anyone, and they wouldn't accommodate us with carry out or any food, and asked us to leave after saying that without being empathetic to any degree. How can you stay at a community and not be able to eat at the lodge? Also, they didn't allow credit cards? How is that acceptable in today's age?

Yelp
The quality of the food and service at Moonlight Basin match the beauty of the surroundings and the kindness of the wait staff. My sister and I enjoyed the restaurant and its delicious French Onion soup for lunch. Then, at 1: after the restaurant stopped serving in the bar, we moved to a booth area there and had a great time playing Dominoes and enjoying their excellent wine choices while my husband had a ball on the ski slopes. Moonlight Basin Lodge also has a great spa area. On visits past, that was my diversion of choice while the skiers skied. There's something for everybody!

Yelp
We have had a house at Moonllight for years and love the area. We live n Denver now, but still visit Moonlight and love that it is such a little sanctuary there. We love the Saddle Ridge area for a few reasons: ski in ski out steps to the Moonlight Lodge pool workout facilities dining full bar spa quiet safe We actually ski Big Sky instead of Moonlight, but love being up at Moonlight because of the staff and amenities. If you are looking for an active nightlife, you are probably better served staying in Big Sky village. If you are looking for great skiing, buy an all mountain pass and explore. The Headwaters area is great.

Yelp
Simply the best skiing/snowboarding we have had in a LONG LONG time. Even with 'early season conditions' (not as much snow yet as they would normally get) it was AWESOME. It snowed a few times and the powder is really fresh and fluffy. I don't think we waited in a lift line the whole week. If I did, I didn't notice. Long runs, well groomed, great people...and this is where the locals ski (but without the various attitudes). I want to ski at Moonlight again and again. In addition, the Biggest Skiing in America is a great ticket too - meaning Big Sky and Moonlight on the same ticket. It is worth the extra $14 or so (?) to be able to head up to the extremes and to the 6-mile run at Big Sky too. Though there are a lot more people over on the Big Sky side...it's still not anywhere as crowded as most resorts on even a weekday. We stayed at the 'Cabins at Moonlight' and they were ski in/out. This was amazing to be able to step out about 3 feet from the front door and glide down the nearest lift. They go out of the way to make sure that each and every cabin and home have ski in/out privileges. The Moonlight Lodge is really beautiful. Really nice staff and they all love their jobs. They really do. Plus the food in the restaurant is great - they have a top notch chef running the place and you are a foodie, you'll be happy. The ambience is great. Go to Moonlight!

Yelp
I spent two days here. Beautiful penthouse, amazing views of everything from 360 degree vantage. That's worth two stars. Horrible service, young and untrained staff doesn't seem to know anything about anything, the restaurant and bar only survive for name sake/location. For the amount of money spent here, the place has a long way to come before it is worth it

Yelp
Best snowboard resort in Montana! :) You can come here anytime and find fresh snow to ride and the snowboard park here is waaaaaaay better than Big Sky or Bridger Bowl in my opinion. Great staff at the bar as well. If you like zero lines and fresh powder this is the place for you!

Yelp
terrible service. Spa is supposed to be world class but they let kids in the locker room & in the hot tub - this is really disappointing when you're spending $100 for a 50 minute massage. The front desk personnel were totally clueless and couldn't give directions. They also wouldn't let us use their trash compactor even though we were staying at saddle ridge. I would stay at big sky next time.

Yelp
Spa review! The massage I had today was the best stone massage I have ever had. I even think I snored during it, i was so totally relaxed. The staff is great when you are checked, the spa is very clean, soft towels etc. GREATness!! The Sanctuary is very calming with a fire place and candles. I was given a warm neck wrap while I wait for my therapist. I was given hot tea (delicious) and snacks. My massage was AWESOME!! I highly recommend the Fire and Stone Massage. Thanks Moonlight Spa! The lodge is beautiful and huge! Bar is awesome, and great views!

Yelp
My adult son and I went to The Reserve Golf Course at Moonlight Basin this past week for my 70th birthday Father-Son Outing. Greg Wagner, Director of Golf at The Reserve, was the consummate host. He welcomed us as we arrived ... he arranged everything we needed to play this magnificent course ... he madre us feel like family! And the course is indescribable!! I have played on a number of exceptional courses in my 70 years and can safely say this course sets the standard by which all others aspire.

Yelp
Lunch was great but fairly expensive. Bloody Mary was the highlight. Potato Leek soup was very nice. Burger was tasty too!

Yelp
Oooooh yeaaa. Mooonlight Basin. That's what it's all about. It's you and the mountain. We barely saw anyone on the mountain besides at the lodges, and people getting on and off the lifts. But besides that, you practically own the mountain. Although Moonlight Basin is only a fraction of the size of Big Sky, you can find some epic runs. Some of my favorites being Lone Creek Gulley (intermediate skill necessary to turn very quick in this narrow natural halfpipe), Trapline, Double/Single Jack (which are ungroomed semi-glade/semi-trail). There's also quite a bit more park features here than Big Sky, mostly in the medium/large level, although there is a small park by the Moonlight Lodge. And did I forget to mention that lift tickets are about half the price of Big Sky!?! Stoked!!

Yelp
Avoid the bar in the hotel for apres ski. The service and offerings are terrible. The kids hot chocolate burned their tongues. My tea came in a paper cup with no spoon, saucer, sugar, or honey. No napkins either. I had to go to the bar and get these items. The waitress also forgot our order of fries. We paid our tab and left in disgust. I complained to the front desk staff who did nothing. There is a more casual cafe just down the hall, I wish I had seen that place before going to the bar in the main lobby.

Yelp
Won't ski elsewhere in SW Montana. Excellent service and great place to play.

Yelp
My daughter and I stayed in Cowboy Heaven for a week, in the summer. The kitchen was so well equipped that we were able to cook at "home" and save money! The views were amazing! This vacation was epic thanks to Moonlight Lodge!

Yelp
Excellent in all ways; uncrowded skiing, well trained staff, good food and beverage service, and a feeling of being welcome!

Yelp
Great summer resort for families. The accommodations were really nice. There are a lot of great summer activities near-by. We took our kids house back riding, rock climbing, and to Yellowstone. The resort helped us to order groceries that were there when we got there. The only complaint we had was the resort restaurant. We ate there one night, and the staff seemed to be irritated to have customers.

Yelp
Big mistake not letting people stay with the old Moonlight rates and staff. It has already become obvious that it will not be the same. I know a number of people who will not pay the price and have to deal with Boyne trained or rather no trained staff. If you didn't ski Moonlight in the past you missed it. What a shame!

Yelp
I am hesitant to write this because I don't want the secret to get out, but skiing at Moonlight Basin is a great ski experience. We've skied/snowboarded during the peak week between Christmas and New Years and the longest we waited in line had to be 6 minutes. Once away from the top of the lifts, we would ski down entire runs and see only 2 or 3 other people. I've skied all over the US, Canada and Europe and I've never had the luxury of having the slopes to myself, combined with the views, the snow conditions and the friendly staff. Keep in mind, this is being written by a former Colorado resident. While each ski area has its own unique personality, I can't imagine going back to crowded slopes anywhere else. The only caveat is that if you're looking for lots of apres ski options or big night life, this is not the place. The Moonlight Basin Lodge is beautiful and there is a bit more going on in Big Sky, but most people seem to relax in the privacy of their own homes up here. If you're looking for a place to really ski, I recommend Moonlight. The massage therapists at the Lodge are very skilled and the snowshoeing trails accessed from virtually any cabin or mountain home are a must as well.

Yelp
I got out to the Basin for the last day of skiing this year, and after skiing Big Sky and Bridger Bowl I think this is my favorite. The main 6 person lift zips you up the mountain, and you've got tons of routes to go to from there. Big Sky is bigger, Bridger Bowl is closer, but Moonlight Basin probably has the best runs if you like a sense of adventure.

Yelp
Just got back from a 5 night stay in Moonlight Basin Lodge. What a great place. Mostly a ski resort, but so much to do and see in the summer too. Not to mention the mountain concierge was fantastic. Love this place !

Yelp
This is my first year having a season pass at Moonlight Basin and I LOVE it! The skiing is amazing, and there is something for all ability levels. The Headwaters have some of the burliest, most extreme terrain I have ever ridden, and definitely the craziest terrain I have ever found in-bounds. The terrain parks are some of the best in Montana, and have a bunch of progressive features that can help you get comfortable riding rails before hitting big stuff. The snow always stays really good, there are hardly ever lift lines, and the groomed runs are long, fun, and great for taking mom/kids out. The Moonlight Lodge is beyond beautiful, the service is terrific, and the warm outdoor pool and hot tub is the perfect spot to enjoy a drink after a long day skiing!

Yelp
If you tell anyone I'll deny it, but I'm originally from California. I learned to ski at the resorts located at Lake Tahoe. I didn't really begin skiing until we moved to Bozeman and I met (and fell in love with Moonlight Basin). It's one of those great love affairs that doesn't lose any of the original passion over time. You just discover new things about one another as the years go by. You push one another to your limits and are the better for it. It's where the locals ski, and don't let anyone tell you differently. It's quiet, but it also hosts a Volcom rail jam. It's classy, but not because it tries to be, just because the people and atmosphere naturally are. If you haven't been, make a point of it. I'm willing to share.
