My husband and I came for an early Valentine's dinner. We are gluten-free, and there were multiple options for us, which is great. Our waiter, Seth, was amazing. Food was definitely on point. The sweet chili chicken is savory and just packed with so much flavor. It did take a little bit of time to get our food, but it was completely worth it. We were very happy with the food, service and atmosphere.

Visited Moonstone Bistro for the first time for Sunday Brunch. We hadn't made any reservations, but there was seating available. We opted for a table on their patio. A quick check of the menu, drinks were ordered. Shortly after the arrival of the drinks, we ordered our brunch. We also received a scone for each of us, as part of the breakfast. We ordered the buckwheat pancakes, the moonstone traitor Benedict, and the classic breakfast with mushrooms and spinach. We didn't have to wait long before our food was served. It was plated well and of good portion size. I found the buckwheat pancakes to be very good. The Benedict was well like, too. The classic breakfast was a bit too greasy for the liking of that person. The service was very good and the prices were a bit above average. I thought the restaurant was inviting and had a good bistro vibe.

This is definitely my favorite places to eat in Redding. The chef and staff here make every visit special. The food is great, it’s a lot of fresh farm to table which I really appreciate. I would love to see the menu rotate and offer a more seasonal approach. (Because I’m going to eat her a lot.) The drinks are on point with a wide variety wine and cocktails. They have pet friendly seating on the patio. They offered me water, then also offered to bring some water for my dog. On top of that, they gave her a small snack too. It’s refreshing to see a high quality restaurant in Redding be so progressive and accommodating.

Google
We eat out in Redding quite often and have been to virtually every restaurant in town and for my money Moonstone is best restaurant in town. The menu is not large, but it does change periodically and what they do they do very well. The wait staff is very knowledgeable about each menu item and their descriptions of the food have you salivating. However, the chef executes and there is incredible attention to detail and the presentation is only second to the smell, taste and flavor of what is normally a gastronomic adventure of epic proportion. The intimate size of the restaurant always makes for a pleasurable hustle and bustle and really feels like a French or Italian bistro, where patrons come and linger for hours because mix of the company and food. Love this place keep up the good work!

Google
Came here hesitant. Our serve Halle B was excellent ! Our mimosas were perfectly proportioned and our meals were great. We both had the mushroom Swiss burger , mine with a chicken breast cooked perfectly , and his with beef cooked medium well (not pink throughout the whole burger) and was excellent as well. Redding does not impress us much but this did ! The champagne vinegarette has no dairy but eggs and it was so good on the salad that came with the burger ! The outside ambience had amazing heaters and just a great overall atmosphere . Love the cucumber waters !

Google
After a good hike exercise at the Whiskeytown fall trail, we were hungry and wanted to find something to eat quickly. Given the good rating at yelp, we gave it a try. We ordered some cocktail, the lunch special and the salad, they are very tasty, but it is considered quite pricy given the portion of the meal (the lunch special came with a very small sandwich + either salad / soup, for $18). By the way, the complimentary bread comes with some kind of home made garlic butter. The bread is OK, but the garlic butter is really tasty. We liked the butter more than the bread.!! Overall, it was a good experience. the waitress was very nice and we love the quality of the meal. Highly recommended.!!. However, if you are looking for a big feast without breaking the bank, this may not be the right choice for you.

Google
The Moonstone Bistro is one of the best places to eat in Redding. The atmosphere is intimate, and the food is made from locally sourced ingredients that make all the difference. You can read about the local businesses the restaurant partners with in their menu, and it really makes a difference - even the celery in the Bloody Mary is tasty! Any occasion would be worth going here.

Google
A fabulous place. Friendly staff and the food is beyond good. I am a vegan and the chef prepared a vegan plate for me that was so delicious, beautiful to look at and very tasty. I ordered sauté vegetables and the Moroccan carrots. The vegetables included asparagus, green beans, spinach and corn and the Moroccan carrots had some kind of coating and came with pistachios, sweet yogurt, wasabi sauce and toasted bread. OMG. Everything was so good. Compliments to the owners, chef, and servers.

Yelp
Our service was incredible. Food was great. Our second visit here and we will be back next time we pass through the area

Yelp
Our family of 4 returned last night for another dinner out. Cioppino was a special so I ordered that (being Italian) while others ordered the Burgers w/Fries. Of course, we started with their Fried Calamari which never disappoints! Also, ordered their new item, Lettuce Wraps. We all shared Calamari as it's the best! Lettuce Wraps were just o.k. All agreed the Burgers left something to be desired! The bread was fresh and tasty, bigger cooked nicely but bland..no mushrooms, etc. as stated on the menu? The Cuoppino sauce was tasty and I'd never had fresh made pasta in it before.. also very tasty! However there were NO Clams, Mussels, etc. , only Salmon pieces and 3 Shrimp? I was very surprised as Cioppino as I've always known it is a "seafood dish"! Sorry to have to post this but if you're looking for good Cioppino, this wouldn't be my choice! I was informed by our party that their drinks were very well made and I know my wine was tasty also. This is the reason for 3 stars! I do have to say that the waitstaff is always great!

Yelp
Top notch dining for sure a real chef he knows how to do it if you're in town swing by you won't be disappointed
google avatar

Yelp
Good Food, the price point just doesn't match up. Too expensive for what you get !! And, the waitering outside, leaves an after-taste, depending on who's up at that moment. guests can get that treatment just about anywhere. Buck-Up!!

Yelp
Second visit to Moonstone Bistro did not disappoint. Was traveling solo for work and came in for dinner. They were able to squeeze me into a booth (bonus!) before some larger parties arrived. Warm and well-paced service that moved along without ever feeling rushed. I was given the option of having the soup come out first or that and the shrimp cocktail come out together. I said surprise me or as they come up. No matter. They came out just about simultaneously and that was just perfect. Not pictured was some delicious bread and butter, too. I look forward to returning for another great meal when I get back to Redding!

Yelp
We had a lovely dinner here last night, Seth was our waiter and he was excellent! The Wildberry lavender lemon drop was delicious. We had calamari, the pasta dish and steak entree... highly recommend
google avatar

Yelp
Our waiter Nicolais was outstanding , my omelette was perfect. The prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was great

Yelp
Utterly fantastic road trip dining experience. Service was excellent. The menu is pricey, but with the attention to detail from the kitchen, and the obviously quality ingredients, it's worth the indulgence. Highly recommend. Yum! The sourdough app was coated in delicious buttery olive oil, served with olives, a walnut dipping oil, and a garlic spread. So good!!! This is not your average garlic bread; far from it. House salad was standard, but had local Armenian cucumber pieces added and the champagne dijon vinaigrette was almost drinkable. Yum. I had the shrimp on the Barbie, a coconut crusted app with a tasty slaw under. Delicious. My husband loved the eggplant parm, saying it was one of the best he's ever had, our daughter loved the pork chop, and our son annihilated his burger, made with Prather Ranch beef and served with hand cut fries (also a housemade brioche style bun). I have a dairy allergy and they were very accommodating, even though many items on the menu contain cheese, butter, etc. I appreciate how well informed our server was on the ingredients for dishes.

Yelp
From the friendly staff to the awesome atmosphere . When the fall weather hits, I strongly recommend the pan fried chicken. Also dogs are welcome on the patio!

Yelp
TL;DR Some of the best food and service in Redding. I'm a regular here. The menu has a few reliable staples, such as their burgers. They feature a seasonal rotation and experiment regularly. Wines seem to rotate too. I'm a huge fan of their fried calamari. My wife loves the fish tacos. Honestly, I've only ever been disappointed once, by a halibut that was too small and a bit undercooked. But these things happen and the staff made it right immediately. Desserts almost always hit the spot and I have trouble resisting them despite not really going in for sweets. My only criticism is the selection of spirits relies on local or regional distillers, just as they look for local produce and meats. While I appreciate giving local products a shot, when it comes to wine and spirits I'd prefer they serve the best bottles. This is particularly true when it comes to drinks in which the spirit is meant to shine, such as gin in the martini. I'm really reaching though, because there's honestly nothing to complain about here. The kitchen staff are great, and the menu items are all good. The service is top-tier. There's just nowhere better to eat in Redding.

Amber L.

Yelp
Great service! Delicious food! Good vibe! Awesome drinks! Really nothing to complain about. We'll be back.

Yelp
Food - the bread and the butter here is AHmazing. We had 3 servings!! Truly it's so good. The orange glazed shrimp appetizer equally AHmazing. The chips were perfect crispness with right amount of dressing, the shrimps were so juicy and seasoned was perfect. We had filet + prawns with broccoli is and yukon, and organic chicken with string beans and yukon mashed. SO SO good!! Service - the receptionist opened the door to welcome us in, the bartender was so nice and friendly, we sat in patio with heat lamps and the staff brought over a lap blanket for us and it was so warm.

Yelp
It's an unsuspecting fine dining experience. Seasonal menu choices. Great service. Elegant but casual atmosphere. Good for a nicer family meal or a special occasion.

Yelp
After all the stellar reviews, we expected so much more. We were wrapping up a cross country road trip from Washington and had ear marked Moonstone for dinner. I was surprised to see Bay Area pricing in Redding. But the food was lackluster. The radish garnish on the NY cut was drain worthy. A big mistake, scraped to the side. I'm not sure what they were attempting. The steak was not cut well, cartilage thru out. The mash potatoes saved the plate (butter and cream to the rescue). The egg plant Parmesan was also a mistake. Very thin egg plant, more breading than egg plant, covered by thick slices of mozzarella cheese. The wine selection (by the glass) was very limited. I had a delicious rum punch, very tasty. The saving grace was that our server was very good and the cocktail was good. If not for Seth, I'd give moonstone 2 stars. Very pricey, in my opinion.

Yelp
Terrific food and service. My coworker and I both had side salads and an eggplant parmigiana that was different, surprising, and tasty. I'm used to the Italian eggplant with a side of spaghetti. This eggplant was a fiesta, with many colors and flavors. Plenty of eggplant and gooey cheese, but also sliced cherry tomatoes and avocado in a sauce that had a variety of spices. Very good and a big portion. I took some home and my coworker suggested that I use the air fryer. Great call, as the leftovers were really good. Will be back to try more.

Yelp
When I entered the restaurant, there was a bad smell which seriously ruined the ambiance, then I was served stone cold raw pink chicken when I complained, the person providing service to my table said very quickly "you will still need to pay for that." I walked out without paying regardless, because I don't pay for badly prepared food. The fact that this restaurant is considered "fine dining" is seriously laughable.

Yelp
Recently went back to Moonstone, we were somewhat uninspired by the menu. In previous visits, there were more interesting options. I had a burger which was ok. I thought they skimped a bit on the cheese and other toppings, I also thought it was slightly underdone. Definitely not a $23 dollar burger. Service was good, friendly and attentive, disappointed by the unremarkable food and menu.

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant in town by far! During one of my experiences here I got to meet the executive chef. He was classically trained and explained the process and care he takes in cooking everything. This is not a place that pre orders food and has it delivered (like many other more high end spots in Redding). Moonstone's chefs make everything in house. The bread is phenomenal! The food is seasonal, yummy, and makes you feel good afterwards! And not to mention the cocktails are So definitely put this on your list of go to's in town.

D. B.

Yelp
This is the best restaurant in Redding! The quality of food, mostly local, is delicious with a menu that rotates with the seasons. Their customer service is excellent and the atmosphere is relaxing. Our favorite! Best fish tacos ever!

Yelp
I appreciate the farm two table experience. I really like their options for dairy free and gluten-free. Their services excellent.

Yelp
Second time coming here and it's just as good as before!! Everything is delicious so there's no wrong answer when ordering. The drinks are so fun and the spicy is definitely SPICY! So be careful if you're getting that drink. Ahi tacos were good and fresh but could have used some sort of sauce or more sauce Frybread was delicious Filet was ordered as medium and it came borderline well done Chicken Jerusalem was UNREAL. you must get this dish. Overall, can't wait to come back and visit my friends at Redding again! The staff is undeniably sweet to top it all off.

Paul V.

Yelp
From their GREAT staff to very talented kitchen, Moonstone Bistro is a must! They make every attempt to purchase local products to support local agriculture and their menu changes with the season. My wife and I feel like home when we walk in and we are so lucky to have a restaurant like Moonstone Bistro in our community!

Denise C.

Yelp
Our 4th time eating here. Hit and miss menu. Not a lot of vegetarian options all the time. I decided on veggie burger only to be told they were out of them. Ordered a salad which was excellent. Very fresh produce. High quality ingredients. Great service. Certainly worth checking out.
google avatar

Yelp
The pasta....wow!! We had a party of 8 and we all agree the Alfredo pasta was the best! And oh myyy the chocolate soufflé was amazing!!
google avatar

Yelp
The best in Redding! Our favorite spot for brunch on the patio. Jeremy is always friendly. Looking forward to another great meal soon.

Yelp
Awesomeness!!! Bloody Mary was deliciously spiced with jumbo green olives, celery & lime ;) The eggs Benedict was the bomb& potato's perfectly done ! Happy Easter brunch !! Service was excellent from the moment we got there until the moment we left. The ambiance is always nice:)

Dean T.

Yelp
One of the better restaurants in Redding. Great food! I would recommend this to anyone who like eating at more upscale restaurants.
google avatar

Yelp
Went for lunch on a recommendation and had a very nice experience. I ordered the Steamed Clams which was essentially a "potage" of small, tender vongole-type clams in a robust bowl of chunks of andouille sausage, potatoes, veggies, etc. in a delicious broth. The flavors were outstanding but not spicy. I was provided with a spoon and bread which was perfect for polishing off the delicious broth in the bottom of the bowl. Had it with a nice Gavi di Gavi. Service was prompt and friendly and the ambience top notch. I'll be back.
google avatar

Yelp
I gotta say they have great drinks! The appetizer are always delicious. Great atmosphere and service overall is really nice and friendly. My fiancé and I really do enjoy coming here for brunch esp and sitting at the bar. BUT I'm giving them 3 stars because every time we leave, we're disappointed that the entrees were just okay. We've gone several time wishing and hoping that this will be the night that they put enough salt on our food. They taste it, we see them tasting the food when they're making it but still, it never has enough dang salt! It's always just so bland.... I always feel bad asking the waiter to bring some salt for the table but gosh darn it it needs some salt! Why moonstone??? Just a little extra seasoning and we'd leave so much more happy and feeling like we got our money worth.
google avatar

Yelp
The appetizers, Big Salad, and Wine selection. Get your derrières in here. The staff and ambiance is one of the best I've been in. I had a great visit from Mt. Shasta and will be back. Jermey is a great waiter too!

Abigail O.

Yelp
I honestly wouldn't recommend this place. My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary hoping to have a nice dinner. First the appetizers, we got the shrimp and the tomato salad. The shrimp was good but the salad shouldn't even be called a salad it wasn't that good either. Second the main meal. I got the pepper steak and he got a cheeseburger. He said the cheeseburger was okay but wasn't the best which is what you expect from an expensive restaurant like that. The steak had so much hard fat on it that I wouldn't eat it much at all, the flavor was fine just wish it was edible. Our waiter asked if we wanted dessert and at the point it was a hard no. We went out for ice cream instead and it was the highlight of our night. I won't be coming back unfortunately, I was hoping for something a lot better than this.

Frank Z.

Yelp
Friend and I had a disappointing experience given the hype from others. My Ribeye "Pepper Steak" was seasoned well and cooked to perfection pink but tough as leather and with gristle. First bite I caught a sharp bone that fortunately didn't chip a tooth. Smothering it in red cabbage didn't help. My friend's fresh Halibut was overcooked and dry, and very small portion considering the hefty price of $50.00! With Garlic bread and Calamari starters, desert, and NO beverages but water the bill came to $180.00. Waay overpriced for the quality and serving size. Will NOT return.
google avatar

Zach L.

Yelp
Food was amazing, service was on point! Seth, our waiter was VERY knowledgeable of the whole menu, wine and all. Seasonal foods and fantastic drinks!
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place! The service and food and atmosphere are excellent. One of my local go-tos.

Yelp
Great menu, excellently crafted: the dishes are consistent and they have a committed following! Love 'em!

Yelp
Want to increase your risk of getting Covid while dining? This is THE place. Not one waiter who approached our table wore a mask (on Thursday, January 27, between 6:30-8:15 pm) or attempted to social distance. Even at Elio's in New York, which allowed an infected Sarah Palin to dine twice (once inside, once outside) during the past week, the waiters wore masks. In fact, this is the first restaurant I've been to during the pandemic (think France, think New York, think LA, think Cottonwood) featuring waiters without masks. This illustrates a total disrespect, even in this redneck part of the golden state, for customers who, like myself, wear a mask (to protect waiters, among others). And total disregard of the pandemic in Shasta County where its spread is being compared to the frequent wildfires. The restaurant owner's lame explanation? "Since they are all vaccinated the waiters no longer need to wear masks. And since no one else is wearing masks..." Wow! I may be the first person during the pandemic to dine out with an invisible mask.

Yelp
Moonstone has our favorite brunch. They make fresh scones and the flavors vary but are always delicious. The potatoes are next level. Can't go wrong with any dish!

Jim And Maria W.

Yelp
I really want to like this place, but I have never had a good meal here. Tonight I ordered the filet, the most expensive thing on the menu. I asked if I could have a salad instead of mashed potatoes, they said no. Then my filet came out luke warm. Wife's chicken was hot. Mother in laws halibut was not. Obviously, my filet and the halibut had been sitting there waiting for my wife's chicken to finish. After a couple bites of my filet I asked to have it heated. After at least 10 minutes, it came back, slightly warmer. Over-rated, overpriced, underwhelming, to say the least.
google avatar

Misty M.

Yelp
A group of us ladies had lunch there last week. The food is always fresh and delicious. Everybody was happy with their food and service. We like to eat on the patio. It is a nice addition.
google avatar

Erin A.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our dinner here. All of us ordered starters and mains. Salads were prepared with care. The calamari was the best preparation I've seen. It came with two great sauces and unexpected accompaniments including fried peanuts. If you like calamari, order this version. It was my favorite dish of our trip to Redding. Fish tacos were good; partly deconstructed, with what seemed like handmade corn tortillas, cabbage and line. Hint: ask for a little extra saucepan the side--I wish I did. Local craft beer was tasty and cold and outdoor tables spaced nicely. Service was friendly. Would definitely return.
google avatar

Zori D.

Yelp
Small place but very cozy! I wish they offer more days open. It's simple, the food is delicious, one of the best in town. Service excellent!
google avatar

Joyce M.

Yelp
This place is one of the nicest places in town, with great food and service, but you can never get through their phone line to make a reservation. Literally spent an hour calling, and had others in my party call on different days, same story. They should really get someone to man the phones or use a website booking page as backup. It's a pity because we were hoping to celebrate a large birthday party but booked another place instead. It's a great place if you are walking in but unreliable for a reservation.
google avatar

Karyn S.

Yelp
I had the chance to visit Moonstone Bistro while visiting family in the area. I found both the food and cocktails to be amazingly delicious - decent portion sizes with the level of complexity and flavor that I am used to finding in Chicago. If I lived in Redding, I would go broke from eating their so often. In fact, and I was honest with my family, that they are my top reason for visiting, and that Moonstone is a close #2.
google avatar

Vicki L.

Yelp
Best vegetable dish ever! Great service. Outdoor seating options. Dog friendly. Looking forward to trying the brunch.

Yelp
Moonstone Bistro is the place to be in Redding when you want the culmination of fine dining, paired with a great atmosphere of service and surrounds. The small restaurant features a wide variety of food pairings, many which are locally sourced from the surrounding area. The brunch that we enjoyed featured a French Press platter from a local coffee roaster. We thoroughly enjoyed the French Toast with a perfect berry compote, and the Eggs Benedict are absolutely to die for.

Joe F.

Yelp
Overpriced brunch but great service and appreciated the free scones. Sure other items on menu are great but potatoes tasted like they were frozen and $18 for bacon eggs English muffin and dry potatoes ain't it for me.

John C.

Yelp
Awesome food and excellent service. Not disappointed and very impressed at presentation and overall ambiance. Recommend yes!

Yelp
Visited Redding again for my sister in law's birthday... upon her request we came to Moonstone. I asked for a Moscow Mule with higher end vodka and they gave me well. The braised brisket was and sides were ok, nothing to rave about. My daughter's "secret menu" (as the waitress put it) grilled cheese were just the dinner rolls with cheese in between. 9 people and $600 later... 5 stars less 2 stars for the meh food, booze served with well liquor, and the bitchy-A-lined haired brunette bussing our table. 3 final stars for the hustle our waitress as she was super nice. BTW: My stomach hurt all night afterwards...
