Where to Taste Tasmania's Wine and Food From Launceston to Hobart

"A solar-powered estate in the Tamar Valley run by owners with Burgundy training, planted on a breezy ridge three miles from the River Tamar; the wines are balanced and textured, with Rieslings showing springlike aromas, peach fruit and lively acidity." - Betsy Andrews

Google
Very comfy place with hospitable staff. I liked the Riesling (2024) a lot. Platter and tasting available. Bit windy and wet when we arrived but the indoors is a beautiful spot to sit.

If you love floral white wines, this place has an awesome range. Great views and the food was fab.

Google
Great experience today, we had the grazing board and did a wine tasting. Platter was well priced for the size / quality and wines were all really delicious. The owner who served our tasting was lovely and clearly very passionate about their wines, and the rest of the staff were great too. Would definitely recommend!

Google
Moores Hill Estate offers a modest winery experience, earning a 3.0/5.0 rating. The vineyard has a pleasant setting, but the overall atmosphere and facilities feel quite basic compared to other wineries in the region. The wine selection is adequate, with some enjoyable options, though nothing particularly stands out or surprises. Service is friendly but fairly standard, without any extra touches to elevate the experience. It’s a functional spot for a casual tasting, but it lacks the charm, creativity, or standout quality that makes a winery truly memorable. Overall, Moores Hill Estate is acceptable for a low-key visit, but not a must-see destination.

I've had two lovely tastings with the team and Moores Hill over the past few months, and both times were incredible! They tell wonderful stories about their process, and I love the sustainable elements. Of course, the wine is incredible as well! One of the best in the Tamar Valley.

Gorgeous location. Stopped by for a wine tasting and platter and was not disappointed. Wonderful, friendly welcome by knowledgeable staff who were very accommodating. Wonderful experience. Would happily return.

Amazing place to have your breakfast/brunch. Wine tasting experience was amazing and the staff were very friendly. We were the first customer of the day (went in on the dot of their opening hours) and were greeted warmly. Would definitely come back again!

We came here as part of a wine tour. Besides several spectacular wines to taste, we also had lunch here. The tasting was excellent, full of explanations regarding the properties of the wine and why they chose to grow those particular grapes. I highly recommend.

Yelp
We visited this Small winery on the recommendation of another small winery that we really liked. Unfortunately our experience was just average. While the wines we tasted were all decent including Chardonnay, Pinot noir and Riesling, to my taste they weren't all that special. The tasting room itself is nice with an intimate feel and there's also a small deck outside looking down through the vineyard. Our tasting included 6 wines but the older gentleman serving us just wasn't very friendly despite our attempts to engage-maybe he was having a trying day, who knows. We are just so used to the interactive experience when talking to people about wine. This felt much more transactional and forced. In any case given the number of other wineries around, I'd probably skip this one.

Yelp
Such an awesome experience overall! The sparkling wine won us over but also the level of customer service we got from Julien and Donny made it one of the most memorable travel experiences I've even had!

Yelp
Lovely tasting plates, serene and relaxing environment on the veranda and friendly staff. A perfect dog was also present, calmly wandering around, hoping for some treats. Very well behaved!

Yelp
Visited the winery for a tasting with a visiting relative from the US and was disappointed in the service and the fact they wouldn't honour the 20% wine purchase discount from yelp check-in! Boo. I hate giving terrible reviews but it was so embarrassing to bring my cousin here. Firstly we arrive and no one was there to greet us- we could have served ourselves the wine for the tasting and we'd have drunk half a bottle between the 4 of us before anyone arrived. Next, when there was someone to serve us, the phone rang and she answered that first before serving us- big no no in customer service. Third, when she did serve us wine, it was very no frills - she didn't seem to really know what she was doing (even though she may have for all we knew) as she didn't say anything about the wines and she let my cousin choose which wine to go with first rather give guidance as to what was appropriate to try first etc Not that we're alcoholics we appreciate our wines and have been to several different wineries around Australia and the world and this isn't the standard that I'd write home about. Maybe the lady was having a bad day or thought we were there just to have some free wine. However, don't think her attitude really changed when we did buy the one bottle. I personally would have walked out when the phone rang and she picked up without apologising to us before. But one of my travel companions did like their reisling, specifically new harvest, I believe. Hopefully you'll have a better experience than us and that your yelp check in coupon is honoured. She said she check it with someone (?!?) but clearly wasn't willing to do that until after we'd bought the wine full price. More like she was going to check for future reference...although I don't know if she was even going to do that. Won't be returning here in a hurry.

Yelp
I see the bad review here...our experience was the exact opposite. We arrived at closing time and the owner served us, chatted us up, made us a cheese, plate....it was fantastic. His daughter and dog came around. Great view with ultra cool and clean tasting room/grounds. We left as members...Coz...
