Moorish Cafe

Went to Moorish Darwin with two friends and had an amazing night. We ordered a variety of tapas and cocktails and everything was outstanding. A special shoutout to the bone marrow and the special beef skewers, which were recommended by our waiter — absolutely incredible and definitely a must-order. Great atmosphere, amazing service by the male waiter that serviced us and delicious food all around. Would highly recommend.

We came to Moorish for lunch and really enjoyed the food—it was great and full of flavour. The staff were okay, but it’s best to book a table in advance. The lunch menu has plenty of options to choose from, and I highly recommend trying the tapas. Please note that they only accept one bill per table and do not split bills.

Moorish is worth the hype!!! The staff were attentive, professional, responsive and intuitive. The food was absolutely incredible. Amazing attention to detail. The variety, presentation, portion sizes, seasoning and garnishing was absolute perfection. Highly recommend the Pink Passion cocktail as a great palate cleanser. The sparkling water had just the right amount of bubbles. Not many restaurants have hubby’s favourite drink (Lagavulin), so Moorish is going to be a new regular for date night. The restaurant is very cozy so at the start we couldn’t enjoy the background music because the restaurant was full but as it emptied, we thoroughly enjoyed listening to Sadé playing in the background. Would definitely recommend a late-ish booking. 8pm was perfect because we didn’t have to worry about the next round of diners coming in. We were also busy enjoying each other’s company and the food to take any pictures (sorry, not sorry)

Food was very good, but when we arrived the restaurant was near empty and we got placed at a table next to another couple. Very close. I understand they were fully booked, but maybe spread people out based on arrival times. Other than that, it was a nice experience and we'll probably go back again.

We enjoyed a Friday night dinner at Moorish cafe, in July (peak, dry season). We booked a table for 2 online which was easy. The vibe is pretty young & hip, including the music, although the meals could easily cater to a variety of ages. Thete is an extensive menu & drinks list. We ordered 5 different tapas, which were all delicious! The staff were all very attentive & organised. Although we will happily award a well deserved 5 star rating, a couple of small pieces of constructive criticism though; we thought the music didn't suit the international / spanish / culture & style of the restaurant. And the order that we received our tapas was not in the order of how they were found on the menu, & felt the order in which the items were listed should have reasonably reflected the order in which they were enjoyed. We felt the prices were very resonable for the high level of the food & service. Definitely a centrally located restaurant to visit and enjoy whilst in Darwin. (PS- sorry in advance- some of the photos we had already started tucking into the food prior to photographing 🙃 as, being the usual with tapas, they all arrived separately at our table so a little tricky to remember each time to photograph)

So glad we booked dinner here, Tapas was delicious, fast service and friendly staff. Sangria wasnt bad either lol Definitely recommended this place if your in Darwin

The only reason this Tapas Bar lost stara for the Atmosphere is because they were fully booked but we were only in Darwin for 4 days over the weekend, so the only place they coukd still accommodate us was on the front outdoor tables where they are also not licensed to serve alhohol so that dampenex my atmosphere greatly in comparison to the buzz that was being observed inside!! But service was fantastic (helps that the wait staff are beautiful, tall Spanish ladies who were very sweet in accommodating us out-of-towners!! Loved it!!

Booked a table on a Saturday night. I understand venues get busy but waiting for a glass of wine 15 minutes goes beyond any excuse. Mains took a good 30 minutes. Initial drinks order got an item missing, I had to double check if that was still coming however it was never sent through the system from the beginning. Service was bad and place lacked atmosphere, needs some noise distribution so people can hear conversations within their own tables. Oh and by the way, I did order the first two bottles of sparkling water but a third one was brought up by the staff without actually requesting it…. Yet the drinks we did ordered took ages to arrive at the table. Kind of weird, in the end I had to pay for it. Overall bad experience due to service being so neglective. Food is really tasty and was the only highlight to the experience! Maybe take away next time if I decide to give this place a second chance….

Fantastic tapas. For 34 AUD ( Regularly 30 but I upgraded for the scallops). 3 dishes & sangria I ordered grilled eggplant with garlic and hot chili's, baked feta and seared scallops.

Best meal we had in Darwin, and quite possibly in our entire visit to the Top End. So many choices on the tapas menu that were appealing, it was hard to choose. Really enjoyed everything, but even better, they had a nice wine list, pleasant atmosphere, and truly excellent service. We were blown away by how attentive our server was, and the night altogether was truly an evening to remember. Definitely hit Moorish Cafe if you are visiting Darwin. You won't be disappointed.

This place has a great tapas menu - at a great price too! I love Moorish, it's a Darwin classic. I went with a group of about 5 and we were able to try multiple dishes! The garlic prawns were especially delicious, as was the kangaroo. Service was good - however they do not spilt bills which is a bit difficult for something like shares tapas. Anyway we used our Entertainment Book and got 25% off so that was great! Definitely recommend this restaurant, I think they also do full meals as well as tapas?

I love Moorish Cafe! I've been here several times, and I've never been disappointed. I had the lunch special with sangria, which was excellent. Make sure you go with a friend so you can try several different tapas.

Whenever I am in Darwin I always ensure I visit this cafe for tea at least once! Usually with a group or s couple of friends this place is perfect. The food is amazing and great to share and never have been disappointed. The range is great and very tasty. The staff are amazing and a great mix of personalities and accents! I would highly recommend a visit!

Spectacular service each and every time -Even if there is an issue the staff are professional and amazing! Skip mains and just order an array of tapas to share ! Unimaginably divine flavors and the fun of all the different foods mean you never go quiet as each pate is a conversation starter. whether its the coconut Jew fish that inspires talk of a recent island holiday or the mushrooms that have you reminiscing grandmothers breakfasts! Its always spot on with a relaxed atmosphere.

Excellent Tapas with a north African influence....great atmosphere.

Lots of good reviews about this place so I though I would give it a crack. A fusion of African style tapas and tagine a. Settled in for some tapas and reasonably priced cocktails. Great prompt service at the start then by 7.30pm the place is packed so the service staff were rushed off their feet. Very small serves for tapas- $8.50 for two tiny African meatballs, $8.50 for a tiny piece or two of pumpkin. Has some interesting flavours but after 6 different tapas there was barely enough food for one adult male let alone two adults. Great busy atmosphere but it says something about the experience when you walk back to the hotel and are having food envy going past other tapas bars.

Great potential. Enjoyed our meal here. Coucous was great. One can't go wrong with chorizo. Calamari was so bland even with the sauce it came with. Haloumi bruschetta was great. Prawns were fresh and too lemony - maybe best to mix it with the sauce first and let it stand for a minute. I expected the pork belly to be in a cube-type shaped. It was thin sliced and ok...nothing spectacular even with the sauce. Servings are tiny and it is not cheap. Atmosphere and the wait staff we had were great tho.

Enjoyed a light evening meal of sangria and 5 tapas plates between two. The kangaroo was delicious, the Banana Prawns were so fresh and great too. Actually all we had was yum, friendly service and atmosphere.

Stopped in for a light lunch and had a fantastic brunch experience! Wonderful omelet and friendly service. We will definitely be back!

Good food n atmosphere is really calm.......n drink menu was really attempting...really enjoyed it ..will be back soon.

Tapas bar, with THE BEST STEAK i have ever had (and i have had A LOT of steaks). Kangaroo was also amazing. Great customer service. Never fails

Breakfast at Moorish on a Saturday morning is one of my favorite things to do. The tapas with a big group is great too but read the fine print about the details for your choices and the staff are easily annoyed!
