"Combining two of the hottest Airbnb trends, this A-frame-cabin-slash-tree house was constructed with timber that owner Brett harvested and milled on-site and then balanced atop a quintet of ash and maple trees. The 30 private acres of surrounding Green Mountain real estate mean you’ll have total privacy as you hang out around the propane fire pit table or play board games inside. The Crooked Maple Tree House is off-the-grid, and its hosts describe the property as 'camping,' so be sure to double check what’s included (a flush toilet, indoor and outdoor showers, potable water, a propane stove, a solar cell phone charger) and what’s not (no electricity, no refrigerator, no Wi-Fi) before committing—and then embrace the tranquil seclusion." - Lyndsey Matthews, Nicholas DeRenzo

"Live high up among the trees at this secluded multi-story cabin located about a 25-minute drive north of Stowe. With three bedrooms and room for six to spread out, your group can come together in the living room around the gas fireplace or gather in the hot tub on the enclosed deck. Keep in mind that the house is on a dirt road three miles from the village of Johnson, so you’ll want an AWD or 4WD car with good snow tires if you visit in the winter." - Lyndsey Matthews

My wife and I hosted welcome drinks & food the night before our wedding at MML. ~80 people attended.||Greg and Willie are amazing! I cannot state how much this was an unexpected highlight of our wedding. The space is incredible (we rented a tent, chairs, and had it catered, while Greg and Willie provided speakers, a porta potty, and INCREDIBLE support). They really went above in beyond, both in creating their magical lodge, accompanying treehouse and the grounds around both, and the day of. ||If you're thinking of hosting an event in the Waterbury area, we couldn't recommend more

I was looking for a unique place which give me sense of vermont and this place is a winner. When we arrived we had such a wonderful and warm welcome. Greg and Willie are in charge and they have built such a place that you feel as if it's your home with no duty. The place is perfect and was everything i looked for. I loved breakfasts with so much love and attention. We were happy to meet all guests for breakfast. Eating and chatting. Special people came and left and lucky for us we came for 3 nights . You'll be absolutely disappointed if you stay there for less. This place gave me such peace in mind and today my relaxing picture is the frog placed at the entry . Exactly what you feel there . That you can breath deeply and be calm. Thank you for a wonderful stay

I've read countless reviews that talk about how wonderful places are but I generally find more value in the content of the lower rated reviews because they are less "Pollyanna". The problem with this place is that there weren't many less that excellent reviews (no poor ones) and I tend to believe if things are too good to be true, they generally are. We traveled a long way from Louisiana for this trip and for some reason I took the chance that my skepticism would be misguided. What an excellent decision that ended up being. This place was absolutely amazing!|I am a designer by education so I tend to be a little on the critical side when it comes to the execution of an aesthetic decision. Let's face it, if log cabins aren't your thing, you're not looking to stay here in the first place. But if it is, you will find a 100% commitment to creating the a luxury retreat with an unbelievable attention to detail with the highest quality at every turn. It is, in a word, impressive.|We stayed two nights and the second night we were the only ones staying there so we were able to see every room. The photos just don't do any of them justice. We stayed in the Creel Room and everything from the bed to the private balcony to the double-showerhead steam shower was without flaw. The common areas were absolutely as comfortable as they could be. The view from the front porch in the evening with a bottle of wine is an absolute must-do experience.|As for the proprietors who created this place, they are two really great guys. They make you feel like you're just a friend hanging out with them in their home... and one of the friends makes you an amazing breakfast. They are just two people who found a way to live their dream and we were very lucky they were willing to share it with us.|Thank you Greg and Willie for a fantastic experience and if we ever make it back up there again, I promise you I'm stopping by to sit on that front porch with a bottle of wine even if there are no rooms available.

Our week's stay with Willie and Greg at Moose Meadow was a far more wonderful experience than my husband and I had expected. What gracious hosts, what wonderful food and what meticulous care taking of their property. Moreover, they've created a "home-away-from-home" by making all the first floor rooms accessible (the whole kitchen), comfortable and inviting. We will definitely be returning. And, though we didn't stay in it - the Treehouse is magical.

We spent two nights in the main lodge. Do not have enough good words to say about this place! The grounds are gorgeous and well maintained. We did the hike up to the Skyloft - recommended but it does feel straight up hill! Breakfast in the morning was 10/10. Greg and Willie were amazing hosts!

We loved our week at Moose Meadow Lodge! So peaceful and relaxing! Beautiful property with wonderful hiking trails, fire pit, sky loft and pond. We stayed in the Duck room which has it's own private screened porch. Breakfast each morning was fantastic! Greg & Willie were so nice and genuine. We were greeted the moment we got out of the car and they waved farewell as we took our last drive down the gorgeous driveway. Their home really becomes your home while you're there. We would love to go back! So appreciative of their hospitality to these southerners!

Staying at Moose Meadow Lodge was one of the most enjoyable experiences I have had staying anywhere around the country. The location is absolutely beautiful, with walking trails, a pond, a gorgeous secluded property and so much more. The best thing though is the hospitality of the owners, Greg and Willie. They made us feel welcome literally while we were still walking up the steps. The amount of love and care they put into the property as well as ensuring their guests have a great time couldn’t be more evident. They were also very accommodating to our 4 year old, and she is already asking to go back. The breakfasts were some of the best I’ve had, incorporating local twists on familiar foods. We stayed in the Mountain View room which was very comfortable and as the name suggests, offers beautiful views of Vermont’s Green Mountains. It seems like good energy in general is drawn to this place, as we were lucky enough to be there for a surprise wedding, which I was happy to be able to be a (small) part of. Next time we plan on checking out the Treehouse. I feel no need to look for anywhere else to stay on future trips to Vermont as this place has everything I would look for and more in a hotel/B&B. Looking forward to returning!

Yelp
This is by far my favorite destination when traveling. I can honestly say I've never had a more welcoming and comfortable stay anywhere else. If you are looking for a real Vermont experience, The Moose Meadow Lodge is a great start to the journey. This beautiful home with cabin vibes has brilliant decor and character throughout the property. The amenities are far beyond what you'll find listed, thanks to the selfless owners, Greg and Willie. At the very least, you'll have a very comfortable stay. Greg and Willie will go above and beyond to make sure your overall visit to Vermont is worthwhile. We decided to travel to Vermont last minute for New Year's Eve. We booked the Moose Meadow Lodge on the drive up. We were welcomed with open arms. Greg showed us around the property, the lobby shop, brought us to our room and explained all the unique and exciting details of the house and property. We woke up each morning to a beautifully prepared breakfast. Since our trip was so last minute, we didn't have much of a plan. Greg was kind enough to sit down with us and help us map out our entire journey. He even helped us map an alternate route home that was more scenic. We didn't get to everything on the list, but everything he mentioned was perfect. You can tell he has a genuine love and passion for what he does. His advice and planning alone made the experience excellent. I can go on and on about the perfect stay we had. You can tell Greg and Willie are very passionate about what they do. You will never experience this kind of attention and care at a hotel. We are already planning our next stay here.

Yelp
Greg and Willie are amazing! The rooms are amazing and I cannot say enough about Willie's Aebleskiver's! Willie uses his own pancake mix which is AMAZING! Breakfasts were amazing! We rented the Mountain View Room, and what a spectacular view! Greg was so gracious and kind. We wanted to hike a little but my mother cannot walk to much. He went out of his way to make her feel included and took her on their golf cart so that she could have the experience of hiking. Beautiful rooms, amazing views, humble and kind owners! I can' t wait to go back!

Yelp
This was an amazing first stay in Vermont. We were greeted upon arrival and given the lay of the land. The owners were friendly and phenomenal! The breakfast was delicious each day!!! Absolutely loved it here and will be back!

Yelp
My husband and I "babymooned" through Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont as our last trip before our first baby arrives in April 2019. We ended our trip with a two-night stay at Moose Meadow Lodge, welcomed by Willie at the door. He gave us a tour of their beautiful lodge. I must not have seen every online photo, because I was so surprised by the beauty and luxury of the space--jaw-dropping! We stayed in the Creel Room (and learned what a creel is!) with a view of the property, Treehouse and snow-covered pond. The room is what you get if you mix your typical cabin feel with luxury! It was warm and welcoming with amazing craftsmanship. The steam shower in our room was wonderful to enjoy and large enough for two. We also relaxed in the common areas, snuggled up by the warm log fireplaces. We later met Greg and loved his humor! Both Willie and Greg made us feel as though we were staying with friends. They were genuinely interested in our day and quick to offer recommendations or call restaurants on our behalf for dinner reservations. We also enjoyed meeting the other guests as we crossed paths in the common areas. They, too, were so friendly and didn't hesitate to discuss their travels or chat about our baby on the way. We enjoyed eating breakfast together each morning, swapping stories and sharing our plans for the day. All of Willie's cooking was delicious, but his rice flour and oatmeal pancakes deserve a special call out! My husband and I ended our stay with a morning snowshoe around the property. I love that Willie and Greg offer complimentary snowshoes to enjoy! Carrying this baby bump, we didn't go far. We checked out the pond, Treehouse, and made a small loop back to the Lodge. We would love to return and visit the Sky Loft! We LOVED our stay at Moose Meadow Lodge and have already recommended it to family and friends. We hope to visit again soon! It'd be the perfect spot to stay while leaf-peeping during the Fall, too. Thank you, Willie & Greg!!

Yelp
My wife, myself, and our Pomeranian Bear came all the way from San Diego, CA to get married at the lodge on July 6, 2000. In fact, we were one of the 1st Civil Unions in VT to do so after it became a law. The Moose Meadow Lodge will always hold one of the most special places in our hearts. Greg & Willie (one of our witnesses :) ) were absolutely amazing, so gracious, and helped to make our day 100% perfect. They love what they do and that is so evident in their hospitality. Their property and lodge is everything you'd hope it would be for a VT mountain escape. We now have a 17 year old daughter and getting back to show her the beauty of not only VT but the lodge itself is high on my list of places to take her. We've been waiting until the perfect age to bring her out and it looks like 2021 (thx for nothing Covid) will be the year. You will not be disappointed by choosing this place for an amazing vacation or wedding. The property and Innkeepers will make your dream vacation that much more amazing. This place is an absolute must when in VT.

Yelp
Me and my husband stayed here for a few days in February for our babymoon and we can't stop raving about it ! If you're coming to Vermont you have to stay here. The grounds are beautiful - we wish we had more time to explore them. The lodge itself was adorable and so cozy. Our room was super clean and comfortable (we stayed in the creel room). Breakfast in the morning was really delicious and also the owner was fantastic about accommodating dietary restrictions. We didn't have any but we noticed he had options for both gluten free and lactose free diets and I'm sure would have accommodated any other needs. We had the pleasure of meeting Willie and his friend Gerry who was helping out in Greg's absence. They were such friendly and gracious hosts. Willie really makes you feel at home! We enjoyed chatting with them at night before heading to bed. The location is also fantastic- close to Montpellier , Burlington, and Stowe and a few minutes drive into Waterbury town center; so there is plenty to do. We can't wait to return in the future!

Yelp
Greg and Willie are the hosts extraordinaire! The B&B/Lodge is beautiful, comfortable and packed with amenities. From the hot tub - to the steam showers - to the vast array of hunting trophies. They provide wireless for those who think they need it, a community television and just lovely decks and livingrooms for your total relaxation. Breakfast was generous and delicious! That Willie can fry up some bacon. Their dinner recommendations are a blast and they have wonderful stories to tell if you are interested, otherwise you can trust they'll give you tons of space. The have a ton of land for hiking (up to a spectacular view), a pond for fishing and beautiful fields. In fact Greg is licensed to marry you if you are so inclined. We are so glad we found this spot which is open and friendly to all kind-hearted folks. You must check it out! We totally intend on returning next year.

Yelp
WHAT. AN. AMAZING. STAY!! Must I say, this lodge is more than a place to stay. It's an experience I'm so blessed to have had. Upon arrival until our departure, Greg and Willie were there when anything is needed or they can be of assistance and yet you are free to roam the lodge as it's your own. I plan to visit multiple times a year and look forward to my adventures on and off the property!

Yelp
We spent two nights in the treehouse as part of a family vacation and 12th birthday surprise for my son. Sleeping in a treehouse has been on his wish list since he saw a treehouse building TV show when he was around 10 years old. This blew his mind and the rest of us, too. Everything from the gracious hosts, gourmet breakfast overlooking the mountains and the beautiful surrounds and accommodations. No detail was missed and we could not have been happier or more charmed by this unique experience. The bathroom at the treehouse was one of the biggest thrills for us all--the gorgeous stone carved sink was so cool. This is a once in a lifetime experience and we hope to experience more than once! You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
This place is a little slice of heaven here on earth!! My husband & I were married at the Moose Meadow Lodge on 7-8-18. Willie & Greg are the two most amazing folks you will ever encounter. It is so obvious, that they love what they do, they put everything, heart and soul into making certain that every guest is enjoying their stay! They are super informative about where to go and things to do, but are even willing to sit and chat and relax with a cocktail or two with the guests! They make you feel like family! We just love them! Our wedding was just beautiful and we had full run of the entire lodge and property to do what we wanted. Hubby and I spent the weekend in the tree house while our guests stayed in the lodge. Everything was just perfect! We just returned from MML spending our first wedding anniversary here and had such a peaceful, relaxing stay! The food is always amazing and the weather was just picture perfect! We will be returning year after year, and encourage anyone else who is thinking about it, to jump in! YOU will NOT be disappointed!

Yelp
Saying that this place is "Highly Recommended" isn't good enough. You just need to go! Just came back today from a 2 night stay in the treehouse for my husband's surprise 30th birthday present. He was soo surprised, and Greg did an awesome job with hiding the treehouse from my huband til last minute. Total relaxation the whole time. Willie did an awesome job with breakfast in the morning. They were both super helpful on pointing us in the right direction for food or activities. I can't say enough great things about this place. It's a must for anyone who loves the outdoors or who just needs to get away. Absolutely loved our stay at Moose Meadow Lodge! Not 1 bad thing to say! If youre considering a stay here, just do it. Don't even question it. You won't regret it.

Yelp
We wanted to be married in the mountains and the Moose Meadow Lodge was the perfect choice. It is set in a beautiful location and offers luxurious accommodations. The fact that Greg is a Justice of the Peace and they offered a wedding package made it an easy choice. Greg and Willie took care of everything and we instantly felt as if they were longtime friends. The lodge is beautifully decorated and meticulously maintained. The tree house where we stayed is simply amazing. Willie treated us to wonderful, delicious breakfasts while Greg entertained us with his stories of local history. Our experience was perfect in every respect. Greg and Willie are superb hosts. We enthusiastically give this 5-star review!

Yelp
Well, sadly, we did not get to experience the Lodge (yet!) since when we booked our first stay this is when hurricane Irene hot our state and our roof caved in under the oak trees that fell. Cancelled the trip and booked it for the next year. Next year we've got pets and then realized that lodge is not pet-friendly... I tried to bargain with the owners (I would pay more to have them with us!) but Greg was insisting that no, no pets (good news for all the other no-pet people out there). Since they were too young at the time to board them at a kennel, we had to cancel the trip and got a reimbursement by mail. So, so far my experience with this Inn was good. I am sure it is great, we just don't seem to be able to visit it( Five stars for no-problem refund though.

Yelp
Five of us stayed at the lodge and tree house for a weekend as an outdoorsy bachelor party 2 weeks before a wedding. Based on the reviews we had read beforehand, we knew it would probably be great. That said, reviews and online photos didn't come close to preparing us for the flawless, tailored experience Greg and Willie work tirelessly to create for each and every guest. The initial tour of the grounds (after a very warm welcome) and personalized hospitality provided by Greg, 5-star worthy breakfast prepared and served every morning by Willie as well as the impeccably kept facilities (both indoors and outdoors) ensured we had an incredibly restful and memorable weekend. We have already recommended staying at the Moose Meadow Lodge to our friends and family in the NYC and Boston areas looking for a world class experience to recharge and "get away from it all", yet still be in close proximity to the fantastic restaurants and attractions in the Waterbury area. Would absolutely return to the lodge the next time I find myself in Vermont. Truly leaps and bounds above the typical bed and breakfast or traditional hotel experience.

Gary B.

Yelp
If there were 6 stars I'd give Moose Meadow Lodge that rating. AMAZING place! Greg and Willie do an amazing job to make you feel right at home. Every detail is in place. The public areas are spectacular. Everywhere you look are game mounts. Two BIG great rooms each with a fireplace that's always roaring! Lots of great local restaurants and tourist spots, although I could have just stayed at the lodge all day long and enjoyed! The new treehouse is AMAZING! I liked the lodge so much that I've rented the entire place for Labor Day weekend so I can bring friends for an amazing Vermont experience. If you're visiting the Waterbury/Stowe area and you don't stay at Moose Meadow Lodge, you've missed an amazing experience!
