Mopani Rest Camp is a beautiful and serene getaway in the northern region of Kruger. The camp is perched above Pioneer Dam, offering breathtaking views—especially at sunrise and sunset. We loved sitting on the veranda of our bungalow, watching hippos, birds, and even the occasional elephant come down to the water.
The accommodation is clean, spacious, and well-equipped, with a real sense of privacy thanks to the natural layout and indigenous vegetation. The camp has a peaceful, uncrowded feel, making it perfect for anyone wanting to escape the busier southern camps.
The restaurant overlooks the dam and is a lovely spot for a meal or a sundowner. The shop was well-stocked with essentials.
Game viewing in the area can be more about quality than quantity, but we were rewarded with great elephant sightings, buffalo herds, and beautiful birdlife. The nearby Shipandani Hide and Tsendze Loop are excellent spots for quiet, scenic drives.
Mopani is perfect for travelers looking for comfort, calm, and a more remote Kruger experience. We left feeling completely recharged.
