Fantastic little winery! Service was amazing, food was delicious, and generous portions - you won't leave hungry! Wine was as you'd expect for the region - world class :)

Amazing place! I came here with my 5-month-old and 5-year-old, and we chose an outdoor seating area. From the start, we were warmly welcomed by the lovely staff. We had let them know earlier in the day about our plans, as we needed somewhere to spend some time while my wife was at the dentist, and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. They created such a comfortable and welcoming space for us, making it very easy to relax and enjoy their facilities. They even have a child-friendly cabin stocked with books and toys, plus a sandpit area—such a thoughtful touch for families. On the topic of food, it was second to none in terms of quality. Whether for breakfast or lunch, you’re truly in for a treat. As for the wine, we shared a bottle of their Chardonnay, and it didn’t disappoint. Highly recommend for families and anyone looking for excellent food, warm hospitality, and a great wine experience.

We stopped here on our way to Mt Cook. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is nice and the people are friendly. If we have time, we would have toured the vineyard. If I am not driving, I would have sampled their wines. We enjoyed our delicious breakfast. I ordered salmon with egg Benedict. Delicious!

An amazing lunch experience. We are able to get a table without a reservation and weren't disappointed. The duck patê was perfect and was beautiful alongside the fresh bread. The pork was absolutely amazing - my partner even saying the best he has had. The beef pie and potatoes were an excellent accompaniment. Highly recommend.

Food was pretty average at best and way overpriced. Staff inside the restaurant were annoying and made us sit in the courtyard. Luckily the manager and one female staff member gave us good service and saved the day. The wine tasting was a mess. We were told we were on the list while having lunch, checked twice, and still watched other people jump the queue. Terrible organisation and service

We often return to Mora to see Vicki and Norman and possibly one of the reasons we constantly go back to Queenstown from Australia. Vicki is the absolute best wine host in the region and our year is not complete without seeing Vicki and her furry son - tasting one of the best wines in New Zealand. Food is absolutely excellent too and definitely should not be missed.

We had a fantastic time here. The terrace is amazing, providing a chill vibe that makes you want to linger. The service is sophisticated, perfectly matching the refined cuisine. Each course is an experience, with excellent preparation, quality ingredients, and thoughtful pairings. The impressive wine selection enhances the meal even further. The restaurant features a serene garden setting with beautiful cherry blossoms in spring, creating a relaxing atmosphere. The attentive and knowledgeable staff ensure an elevated dining experience. Outdoor seating allows you to fully enjoy the scenic surroundings, adding to the charm. Our only regret is that we couldn’t come here another time.

Definitely one of my favourite wineries in the region. The olives were AMAZING 🫒♥️ We also got the tasting board which was yummy but quite pricey. And ofc delicious wines

Akarua Wines & Kitchen was our second winery that we checked out in Lake Hayes. Akarua means two vines, which is how they originally started out. It's a couple minutes drive from Amisfield. We dropped in on a Friday afternoon (around 4:45pm). It's a cute spot with a garden and plenty of tables/bean bag chairs to lounge about. The wine tasting is done in a cool converted industrial box. They do tastings ($5.00 NZD/person) where you get to try 5 wines; all five are pre-picked for you. Our server was friendly and gave us good descriptions about each wine. But man, the pours were tiny. - Akarua sauvignon blanc 2017 - decent but we've had better elsewhere. - Akarua riesling 2017 - RUA pinot noir 2016 - this one was young, light and had a very dry finish to it. We didn't enjoy it. - Akarua pinot noir 2016 - this one was aged for longer. Much smoother. - Akarua alchemy ice 2017 - intensely sweet. Our host said to try, then eat a bite of chocolate and try again. That actually worked wonders. Akarua paled in comparison to our earlier visit at Amisfield. Wines were decent but that's about it.

What a great place for a tasty lunch! The food was amazing, fresh and artfully prepared. We all enjoyed our wine and menu choices. The wait staff was very helpful in suggesting the appropriate amounts for a table of 5. It was all so delicious we ate almost every bit.

The experience was wonderful it had many options of drinks and food the staff were lovely and had a smile on their face would definitely recommend wonderful for children and adults.

Cozy little cafe / restaurant with a charming garden. An interesting menu including burgers, and the more exotic Gado Gado (delicious) and sweet including banana pancakes (delicious) and waffles. Situated near Lake Hayes, close to Arrowtown.
