A celebration of all things good from the Pacific Rim, Morimoto Asia Waikiki well-reflects and elevates the culinary diversity drawn from Hawaii. Order family style so as to try as many treats on menu, while sharing amongst good company over cocktails. As with any Hawaiian table, pretty much any and all combinations of dishes will work. Highlights include old-time Morimoto classics such as Tuna Pizza (i.e. sashimi tostada) and Fish Carpaccio (e.g. Japanese ceviche). Sticky Ribs, in hoisin sweet chili, is a definite all-around crowd pleaser. Ishiyaki Buri Bop, Ribeye Steak (16oz) and Angry Lobster make an excellent surf-and-turf combo to close the meal — and are a joy for all senses. Served in hot stone pot or sizzling iron plates, proteins are seared and sauces bubbling table side. Desserts, top-notch. Ube Basque Cheesecake is amazingly creamy, earthy but still slightly tart. Chocolate Entremet is served flambé. Excellent and on-point front-of-house service team, providing a truly fine-dining experience, with still a welcoming and personable beach vibe. Interior and exterior seating, chic designed.

Whenever I miss the old days, I tend to go back to the foods I used to eat. For my birthday, choosing an Asian restaurant was an easy decision—I was craving Peking duck and also missed Thai food, and an Asian restaurant was the perfect way to satisfy that homesickness. The service at the restaurant was amazing and really made me feel special. Even though I made a last-minute reservation, they gave me a window seat and said that birthdays are a special occasion. I’m truly grateful for everything they did for me. The food was delicious. If the Peking duck had been sliced a little thinner and served with the meat separated from the skin, it would have been perfect. But the sweet bean sauce for the duck was absolutely spot-on!

From the moment we stepped into this breathtaking restaurant, we were swept away—not just by the view of the beach (which are absolutely stunning), but by the warm, impeccable service that made us feel like VIPs from start to finish. Every detail is masterfully done—from the sleek, modern design to the gentle ambient lighting that perfectly complements the surrounding scenery. It’s the kind of place where you feel like time slows down, and every course is an event in itself. Our server was attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable about every dish and drink pairing, and genuinely kind. You could tell that the staff takes pride in the experience they’re creating, and it shows. Now, the food? Next level. Every dish was a beautifully plated work of art—delicate, flavorful, and bursting with the kind of balance only true culinary masters can achieve. From the melt-in-your-mouth sushi to the perfectly seasoned entrées and creative cocktails, everything was unforgettable. This isn’t just dinner—it’s an experience. One that I’ll be dreaming about until I come back (which will be very soon hopefully). If you’re looking for an upscale spot that delivers on all fronts—ambience, service, views, and cuisine—this is it. Pure magic.

Vinnie the manager and Christopher our server were so kind and friendly. The moment we stepped in it was 5 star service from the hostess to the drinks to the appetizers to the atmosphere we couldn't ask for anything else. The atmosphere was classy and comfortable. We sat on the patio side with a beautiful ocean view. When I say the food was delicious that may be an understatement we will be back!

Google
Food was incredible, don’t think you can go wrong, but the duck and cod stood out. The drinks were great (get the smoked old fashion). The atmosphere was a vibe with tantalizing aromas, great music (all eras) and the overall decor. Finally, the service! Top notch all around, attention to detail, happy and attentive. Connor was our server and made it an especially great night.

The staffs are very nice and welcoming. The food was good. I love my surf and turf sushi roll the most. Had the Flaming Chocolate and it was amazing. The location is fantastic as it is in the heart of Waikiki and can see the water.

Google
Amazing! The staff are on point, from explaining the menu to being sure no allergies or special food needs. We followed the waiters suggestions and then shared. He was spot on! The duck melted in your mouth and the two sauces created so much depth. The beef and shrimp plates were equally delicious. The chef even took something as simple as fried rice to another level. The menu selection and pricing was much better and the quality of our experience was the best we have found in Waikiki. To top it off, the view…. So yummy and reasonable, we are returning tonight!

Google
WOW! Every dish is delicately designed to enhance your dining experience. The Wagyu sushi rolls were incredible. The cocktails were unique. Every single plate we ordered was delicious. It's all definitely worth the price you pay for the quality and service. There is open patio seating that has a view of Waikiki Beach at sunset that I highly recommend booking for your special occasion or date night. We really enjoyed the evening here!

Yelp
Vaguely disappointing. I felt rushed. Sat for 6 p.m. reservation , eating dinner at 6.10, handed dessert menu while still eating dinner at 6.20, out at 6.35. This is probably good for business and probably good for some customers, but I went to Morimoto's to savour a great experience by a great chef, and it was not that, for me.

Yelp
Definitely one of the best meals I've ever had. Everything was top level for sure. I can see why it has the reputation it has. Upper scale all the way. We would come Back for sure.

Yelp
The appetizers are terrible not worth $9 The entree was ok but overpriced I wouldn't go back

Yelp
Service was perfect! Took my dad for his 80th and it was a table for 8. Our server was great and really embraced helping us pick a variety to try family style so everyone got a bite of everything. Highly recommend if you have a group big enough because every flavor is incredible. Ok... sticky ribs!!!!! Next best was the fish carpaccio and the duck. Steak was wonderful. All in all we had a great experience. Tried lots of different bites and had an amazing time.

Yelp
I used to watch Iron Chef back in the day, so I just had to check out Chef Morimoto's restaurant here. Love the variety of dishes on their menu and everything looks delicious! They have a very extensive selection of sake, shochu, whisky, wine and cocktails as well. Wish I could've been with a larger party to try more items, but hubby and I tried what we could. Shogun Sidecar: Nikka whisky, Cointreau, lillet and lemon juice. Citrusy and light. Geisha Gimlet: Empress gin, black pepper syrup, cointreau, fresh lime juice and crème de violette. Not too spicy or sweet. Smoked Old Fashioned: elijah craig small batch bourbon, carpano antica formula vermouth, luxardo liqueur, angostura. One of the best old fashioneds I've had and the presentation was impressive. Chef Morimoto's Premium Sake Flight: morimoto junmai, junmai ginjo, junmai daiginjo & sparkling nigori. The taste and quality is noticeably different in each. Duck Caesar Salad: a decent size of fresh mixed greens with a good amount of pieces of duck. Orange and Parmesan went well with the duck. Ishiyaki Buri Bop: I appreciated how they prepared this table side, sizzled the buttery yellowtail against the hot pot and mixed all the ingredients. The rice was crispy and the dish was very flavorful. Ishiyaki A5 Wagyu 3 oz: Okay, for $114, I would've preferred they cooked all the pieces table side, rather than just show us how to cook one piece. We got about 6 pieces and although we cooked them just fine, that would've sucked if we overcooked one. The meat was so juicy and buttery, it just melted in my mouth. Ube Basque Cheesecake: server recommended this over the chocolate sphere that comes out in flames and it was divine! Light, creamy and the lemon cream gave it a nice contrast. There were a few instances of miscommunication and missteps with the service, but overall, we had a positive experience and really enjoyed the drinks and food. I would come back with a larger party! The place has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

Yelp
Growing up I loved Morimoto! So when we visited Oahu, I knew I had to check out his restaurant! But overall decently let down. We made reservations and it was early. We were seated all the way in the back. Not a lot of people were dining so I was annoyed we were no where near the beach views. Staff were ok, no one really went above and beyond. Our waitress didn't engage with us that much. Inside is comfortable and pretty. Menu wise, wow, you pay a lot for a little. We tried a good amount of everything and it was all delicious but left us wanting to go somewhere else for actual dinner. Ordered the orange chicken, dim sum platter, fried rice, and donuts for dessert. Everything is a la carte as well.

Yelp
Yes! Yes! and more Yes! You could say the balcony overlooking the heart of Waikiki is the best in town and you would not be wrong. If value ain't anything you track the food is remarkable. Don't forget your wallet because its best with big groups and that gets the bill rocketing. Everything is beyond great and beyond how good you think it could be. The ribs melt in your mouth and noodles make you swoon. Get the giant chocolate globe they set on fire for desert! I don't love the waygu that comes with its certificate of authenticity and for the astronomical price there are so many more extraordinary things on the menu. I know I said big groups on the balcony are the best but the bar for two ain't shabby and is a cheat code if you forgot to make reservations. I love this place and it is the best a tourist with an expense account can do on Waikiki :)

Yelp
Morimoto is worth a photo!! Made reservations for 7:30pm. We had heard good things about this place so decided to give it a try. We arrived on time and were seated promptly. We waited for about 10-15 mins before the waiter came around and when he did he asked us if we had been brought water yet. Our glasses were empty so clearly we weren't. He said he would get the water and right back. He returned quickly and filed our glasses with water and asked if we were ready for drinks. We advised yes we were ready to order drinks. At this point he said he would put the water jug down and come back to take our drink orders. Instead he walked to the table next to us and started taking their food orders. Nonetheless once we got our orders in it was smooth from there. The drinks were good. I had the casual encounters cocktail and it was very refreshing. The food started coming out one by one. The duck came out first and it was to die for. Some of the best duck I have had. Really tasty. Tender. Flavorful. We did order the house fried rice as well which is not pictured but it was also really good. The whole fish came out next. The presentation was great and the fish is deboned which makes it easier to eat. Be careful though there is always some little bones left. The end the evening we tried the Ube Cheesecake. It was decadent and really tasty with the lilikoi and the toasted coconut. If you like Ube you will like this. Overall despite the slow start Morimoto finished strong.

Yelp
The food and vibe here is unmatched. The food was delicious, every one of the dishes we ordered was really good. Must try: sticky ribs, wagyu fried rice, and the whole branzino was amazing. It was until after we finish our meal that I realized this place is by an Iron chef and it made sense, everything tasted great. Service was good but in the beginning but it took awhile in the end to get our bill and get our payment back. They need more servers on the floor, our server had tables scattered everywhere which made it harder to be attentive to each table. Understandable but still we didn't enjoy sitting there waiting to check out mostly when we have a kid who's inpatient to leave.

Yelp
Excellent dining experience and food! We ordered drinks, dinner and dessert and all were exceptional. The smoked old fashioned and lycheetini were amazing The wonton tacos were an interesting vegetarian take and the hot and sour soup were the best we've ever had. The vegetarian lo mein was delicious (although we wished it had tofu). The green beans and beef pepper steak were outstanding. The flaming chocolate entremet .... You need to order this and savor every bite. It was OUTSTANDING. The ambiance was fun for the location: Caribbean music, Hawaiian vibes, Asian food.

Yelp
They really made me feel special for my birthday ;P Ordered the Sticky Ribs, Kakuni rice thing that they cook in front of you and this duck thing you put in a tortilla, served with sauces. Sticky ribs literally fell off the bone and was super tender, the kakuni rice thing was delicious and meat was tender as well from the kakuni, and the duck tortilla was on-point as well. Desserts had an amazing presentation with flames being set off on the chocolate cake, and an ube basque cheesecake that they flame for 5 seconds. They gave me a complimentary ice cream that said happy birthday with a candle so that was fun :) Server was very on-point in recommending alcohol drinks and refilling tortillas. Lemme just say the Silky Sensei is strong. Strong af. The Lychee-tini was also strong (...too lit). The Shochu drink and the cucumber one was a lot easier to drink so I suggest going for those ones.

Yelp
Consistently good. As noted by the name "Asia," you are experiencing something Asia-like. I wouldn't describe it as traditional food, but the quality is reasonably good. The staff is friendly, and I really dining at the lanai. It can get a bit noisy during the evening due to reckless drivers, but I still love the lanai. I recommend this place. As long as you know what you are getting into, you'll enjoy it.

Yelp
The food was disappointing. They over torched the waygu roll, so it tasted like butane. We didn't even eat it. The crab with noodles special was very good, but I wasn't blown away by anything. Love Morimoto's in Maui. That is a superb meal, while this was run of the mill.

Alana A.

Yelp
Service was 5 stars from beginning to end absolutely the best. Dim sum was okay is was all pretty flavorless they all tasted like bland brackish shrimp Hamachi carpaccio and roast duck were sooo good perfect presentation and delicious flavors Pad Thai was the worst tasted like dirty fish too much fish sauce and tamarind food trucks are better for this Thai favorite

Yelp
My amazing friends decided to take me out to celebrate my graduation and picked Morimoto out from my various places I was interested in. Once were sat at our table, our waiter explained that the restaurant is family style, recommending that we order around 3 appetizers and 3 main dishes. We started with the: - Sticky Ribs: This was AMAZING, 11/10. So flavorful and tender, literally falling off the bone. I think the best thing I had all meal. - Chicken Wontons: This was okay, nothing special but the chili oil was flavorful. 7.5/10 Our mains: - Orange chicken: I personally did not want to order this as I knew I wouldn't have cared for this but my friends really wanted to so we went with the majority. As expected, it was nothing special, I honestly liked the side of bok choy more, 6.5/10 - House fried rice: Also didn't care for it, but it was a good carb dish to pair with your other dishes and it had a decent wok flavor.7/10 - Black Pepper Beef: Delicious and very flavorful, it was enjoyed by everyone at the table and they even discussed ordering another once we finished it. 8.7/10 - Surf and Turf Roll: Ordered this hoping it would help my craving of sushi and it kind of did. The waygu slides were thin but its presence was noted. Good to try but probably wouldn't order again? 8.5/10 - COMPLIMENTARY Chocolate Ice cream: it took a oddly long while for this to arrive after the waiter asked if we would've liked one. It was good, very decadent and creamy, good way to finish off the meal. The overall ambiance and lighting of the restaurant is very very warm as you can probably see from the pictures.

Yelp
Came here last week with the whole family to celebrate my mom's birthday. Our server Manu was excellent. Super knowledgeable of the menu and entertaining to all of our guests. We tried the sticky ribs for the first time and they were so tender and fell off the bone. SUPER good. We opted for a few other items on their menu to all share - the duck, pork gyoza, kakuni bop, orange chicken, crispy whole fish, and the sauteed vegetables. All of our items were delicious, but particularly their duck is super good. To drink I had their smoked old fashioned which is strong and has a good smokey flavor. You get a tableside show which is entertaining as well. Their version of the Mai Tai though, "momo tai" drink my mom was not a fan. Had a different taste....i would skip this drink. To our surprise, they gave us some dessert ice creams on the house for the little kids and an amazing tiramisu dessert for our table - which comes in a glass jar that they turn upside down and drop on a plate for you. This was probably one of the best tiramisu's I've ever had. Overall, we have been here twice when visiting from the mainland and both have been positive experiences. Prices are high ($700+ for party of 5 adults, 2 kids) but reflect on the quality of food and terrific service. Would be back again when visiting next time for a special occasion.

Yelp
I had high expectations and was plenty hyped for Morimoto, and they were met and then some! I've always loved the Iron Chef series and watched it religiously, so I was a fan of Morimoto-san and had a positive view of his brand. His special chicken instant ramen is one of my favorites hands down. Reservations were easy to get in August as back to school has reduced the crowds in Waikiki. We ended up sitting in the patio area which had plenty of sun shades, but unfortunately I was hot and got even hotter and was sweating profusely during the meal. Other than that almost everything else was perfect. Since this was my only chance until my next visit, I went all out and ordered the 16 oz wagyu ribeye and the angry lobster. I also tried their signature sticky ribs appetizer and it was just divine. The outside was crispy and sweet, while the meat just fell off the bone. The waiter told us the ribs were braised for umpteen hours and I believe him! The ribeye was pretty incredible. It was not A5 but was a mighty fine tender steak. I was able to cut it with the side of the fork! The sauce and mushrooms and caramelized shallots really took it over the top. The angry lobster was so delicious it made me happy and joyful. The sauce was delightfully coconutty curry and it was cooked to perfection. It comes out sizzling to add to the excitement. It's also served on a bed of pad thai noodles to provide some nice carbs with the dish. We also tried the hamachi tacos and the ingredients were just perfectly paired with the hamachi poke. The olive really struck me as special when I bit into it. We also ordered the house fried rice and garlic green beans to round out the meal with some carbs and veggies. They were fine and dandy but nothing over the top. Service was at a very high level as you would expect from a fine dining establishment. The servers tended to us very frequently and the waiter was friendly, helpful, and provided some nice conversation. I'd highly recommend Morimoto's and I look forward to returning on my next visit!

Yelp
I used to have it 4 or 5 because we had such a nice seating as well as host and service. But it feels like the hostess is not helpful.when we requested the seating in patio when there are 9 patio seating open... the manager was able to move us to patio seating right away which was nice. I love our waiter. I also find it interesting our table next to us who was seated after us got all the food they ordered right away including the bi bim bop we ordered... when our bi bim bop came, there was no sizzle so we asked to take them back. Few minutes later. Brand new dish with sizzling pot came as it should have been I think I was very disappointed with morimoto as we have been coming here for so long. The mgmt kept checking in with other tables as well as the next table but not once have they came to our table which is fine. Also the rice came late after the entree has arrived so I didn't really need it.

Yelp
I went to Morimoto to try out their happy hour and was not disappointed! Great ambiance and in a wonderful location! The happy hour included free seating at the bar or lounge area and seating is first come first served. We got there right when they opened at 5pm, so seating was easy for us. Getting there: In the heart of Waikiki it's easy to get to if you are traveling on foot. The sun can get intense so always make sure you have sunscreen on deck. Driving there would be more difficult due to traffic and tighter streets for parking. The food: They had great appetizers for the happy hour. I went with Wagyu Gaprao Nachos which were packed with so much flavor and put regular nachos to shame! And the gochujang spices added a nice kick! I'm also a huge soup lover so naturally I had to also try their house miso soup and hot and sour soup. I loved the hot and sour soup so much, it tasted like fine dining compared to your usual take-out hot and sour soup. The drinks: I ordered the Aloha Rum Punch which was only $9 during their happy hour! It was the perfect drink matching the tropical vibe of the island. It was sweet and refreshing and packed a great punch! Also ordered the Old Fashioned which was smoked for us tableside, such a cool thing to see! Overall I am extremely satisfied with my visit to Morimoto Asia in Waikiki, I wish I had stayed long enough to come back and catch them for dinner. Hopefully next time!

Yelp
Let me start by say Morimoto is my FAVORITE Iron Chef! Because of that, I absolutely had to eat at his restaurant in my FAVORITE vacation destination, Oahu. Morimoto Asia Waikiki is a true gem. While many of his other delicious restaurants are more Japanese focused, this location is more "pan Asian". With a beautiful beachfront location, the setting is beautiful. My husband and I enjoyed several items for dinner starting with a smoked old fashioned and lychee martini. Both were perfectly mixed. As for our delicious dinner, we ordered the pork gyoza, kakuni bop, orange chicken, and veggie lomien yakisoba. Everything was beyond exceptional. And of course, there's always room for dessert, so we ordered the chocolate entremet which is flambéd table side. The portions are perfectly sized for 2-3 people for sharing. From the moment you walk into Morimoto Asia Waikiki, you know you are in for a special treat. Not only is the restaurant impeccably clean, but the service is outstanding. Iron Chef Morimoto should be very proud of this amazing team, quality of service, and food being served.

Yelp
We made a reservation at Morimoto after it had glowing reviews from a friend and it lived up to the hype! We requested a patio table at sunset and the views were absolutely beautiful. We started with the sticky ribs, hamachi tacos, and gyoza. The ribs were spectacular! They were perfectly cooked and fell off the bone. The balance of sweetness in the sauce was perfection. The hamachi tacos were a let down. You only get two and they're pretty underwhelming. They were also pretty fishy tasting. The gyoza was good. The ginger scallion sauce was a surprisingly nice touch and complimented the pork nicely. For entrees we got the waygu fried rice, grilled kalbi and miso cod. The fried rice was one of the best I've ever had. It comes out in an iron pot and mixed in front of you, and is so tasty. The kalbi was also great but a tad over cooked as we asked for medium rare. The miso cod was the winner of the entrees. It was so buttery and delicious, I was dying for more. The service was a bit slow but it was very busy and the excellent food completely made up for it so we didn't mind. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who's in Waikiki and looking for a nice dinner spot. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
On the plus side, the food here was really excellent. I very much enjoyed the Hamachi Crudo starter, as well as both the Seabass and the Hamachi hot pot, all of which I shared with others at the table. The flavor was on point and the presentation of the Ishiyaka was lovely. Being meat eaters (not Me), they raved about the Wagyu, which they got to cook themselves on the hot stone! They said the quality was outstanding. So why the four stars? First of all, they said they would bring the plates out as they were ready, which is fine. However, we got our fish first, the meat later, and the green beans and noodles for the children a solid 10 minutes after everything else had arrived! This really didn't make any sense. It was a long wait for all the food. Service was nice, but not outstanding. And the worst part was the lighting. Oh my gosh, you guys, please do something about your lighting! We felt like we were dining in a cafeteria. The lights were on so bright, and the walls inside are decorated with large pictures of food. They really desperately need an interior designer to come work on the spot to make it more, charming, romantic, or even just enjoyable. We had bright lights shining right in our eyes.

Yelp
Came here twice and the food was superb. The A5 wagyu sushi roll was amazing. The roast duck was juicy, flavorful and just delicious. The servicer was friendly and attentive. The restaurant, what can I say? It's in Waikiki. Great vacation vibe!

Yelp
I used to LOVE morimotos when it was in the M hotel wayyy back in the day. It was an experience to say the least. They moved to another part of Waikiki and created a menu that's much more wallet friendly while still offering great quality food items and service. We love to pop in here whenever it's not too busy for a quick bite, or a full sit down meal. This time we just had a few carpaccios and cocktails
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
This place was delicious! The cocktails were excellent. We shared the vegetables with tofu, very tasty. I had the miso black cod which was very yummy. I sampled the duck which was some of the best duck I've had. Overall, a very excellent dinner, I'd definitely recommend.

Yelp
Our group of 4 greatly enjoyed our dinner here last night. Loved the ambiance and view. Service was excellent. We shared the sticky ribs, shrimp fried rice, shrimp pad Thai, Surf and Turf sushi roll, orange chicken. Everything was very tasty! Highly recommend Morimoto Asia!

Yelp
Really upscale spot with delicious food. Great for a date spot or a family. Menu isn't huge but tasty. Service was really good - waiter knew exactly what he was talking about and it was fast. Portions aren't huge and it is pricey.

Yelp
Great place! Definitely want to request outdoor seating if possible. We didn't get to sit outside but sat close to the open doors and it was very nice. We got the edamame to start - huge portion! Our waiter Yoon (spelling?!) was awesome! He gave fantastic recommendations and our meal was great all around. The smoked black cod was prepared beautifully. Very tasty, and flavorful. The garlic green beans are a must - crunchy and garlicky - you can't go wrong! The chicken fried rice was good, nothing to blow you away, but a standard well made side dish. We also ordered a bottle of the "Crystal dragon" as recommended by our waiter and it did not disappoint. As someone who doesn't love sake, I was very impressed by how smooth it was and easy to drink. The triple chocolate light the ball on fire dessert was amazing. They light it on fire table side, there is ice cream inside, and if you're a chocolate lover this is a must order. Thank you for a wonderful birthday dinner experience!!

K M.

Yelp
Pretty sad that the business manager responded in what seemed to be a professional manner until I read other responses (to poor reviews) & they were ALL THE SAME CANNED RESPONSE! Seriously?!? If you want to make your restaurant better, you should at least try to craft a personalized response. Your restaurant is riding on the Morimoto brand, otherwise I'm pretty sure you'd get half the patronage you are currently getting. If Morimoto knew how poorly his kitchen is run at this location, he'd fire everyone!
google avatar

Yelp
Really delicious food and comfy chairs. The sticky ribs appetizer are a must, and I loved the short rib. Ube cheesecake was good too. Waiter was really funny and ran into him at the waterfall on a hike the next day and he remembered us! Super personal

Hongping Z.

Yelp
Referred by some highly regarded fellow members of Waialae Country Club, we were exciting to try Morimoto first time last night. Astonishingly, instead of smiling aloha, we were greeted by an angry voice "excuse me" by a haole restaurant employee named Richard, immediately after we exited elevator to front desk of Morimoto. He repeated himself three or four times louder and louder. Our kids were scared. Although two friendly managers Kim and Vinnie came later to console us a few of times, we still question if such behavior should be tolerated in a "suppose-to-be" high end restaurant in state of Hawaii nowadays?
google avatar

David Y.

Yelp
The service was friendly, warm, and kind and the food (overall) was decent. The stand-outs for me were the crispy branzino and the (full) roasted duck. I was a bit disappointed the tortillas for the duck were not similar to the chun-bing style of (far, far thinner) tortillas than what we generally receive at restaurants that specialize in this type of duck preparation, but it was an overall hearty meal and quite delicious regardless. The ribs we ordered for appetizers were, unfortunately, a bit cold near the center of the bone, but everything else we ordered tasted fine. Shoutout to the staff - the food was alright but the service and staff made the meal and experience way better.

Yelp
The food was very classy and delicious, would only recommend for fancy occasion and gathering. I would highly recommend the Peking duck and the angry lobster dish. The orange chicken and fried rice were average, nothing to scream about. Customer service was amazing but there was a wait time to get seated. So please make your reservations.

Yelp
I took my parents here for dinner. Nice restaurant and great interior. Was waited 5mins for seated. I didn't make reservation I was worried that waited long but there's not too busy. We ordered wagyu and Mapotofu also Korea style Kalbi. This is Asian fusion restaurant. Wagyu quality was amazing but mapotofu was not great. I wouldn't recommend Mapotofu. Korea style kalbi was different than I thought. It's kind of steak style with kimchi. Meat was very soft and great quality either. Our server wasn't friendly. I was mad at him but I didn't say anything because I didn't want to ruin that moment. I wanted order coke and I called our waiter but he was just looking and me and didn't come 3times. Totally ignored me. Also when I asked him to check he explained to me about tip very kindly. I usually didnt give tip like this waiter or waitress but it was my family dinner so I give only 15%. He was Asian and I'm not Asian. That waiter was no reason to ignore or not nice to us. They thought we are visited in Honolulu from other countries. I explained him I know how to pay tip because I lived in LA after that he was very nice. This restaurant has to consider server attitude. I wouldn't recommend anyone who I know person going to Honolulu. Totally sucks this restaurant experience ever in Hawaii.

Yelp
Desserttttttttt!!! Me and my husband were walking around looking for dessert after our lovely dinner date. Honestly we were just walking and passing by. I would have to say THE BEST TIRAMISU I have everrrrrr had! I think I'm still day dreaming about it now. Lol. The chocolate sphere was so cool. It's a chocolate ball they light on fire that comes with homemade chocolates and house made ice cream. We sat at the bar and our bartender was so great and kind! We were in and out and taken great care of. We will be happy to come back !

Yelp
This is the second time that I have been at this restaurant. I would say that the first time was superior because we had a phenomenal Waiter and other staff that were very friendly and engaging. We were well-cared-for tonight and our waiter, Jed, was very good, but there were several people that did their job, but they were very much in a rush and didn't really spend time to interact with us. They did their job, but didn't go beyond that. Our busboy was very service oriented. For those who like to drink, they have an extensive menu of alcoholic beverages. First, what we loved - the surf and turf roll and the rib appetizer was excellent. We loved the duck dish. The duck was perfectly cooked. The portion was generous for the chilean sea bass. The fish was cooked perfectly. Improvements- The current chef makes many of the dishes too spicy or salty. The kalbi beef dish had very spicy sauce that made it inedible for our friend. The sauce was not listed in the description. When they served the roll, which was for 3 people, they gave us the tiniest amount possible for the little tray with ginger, Wasabi, and dipping sauce. They didn't have the courtesy to give one to each of us. We had to ask for this obvious common sense action. It was impractical to begin with, and extremely stingy for such an expensive restaurant. The black bean sauce for the sea bass would have been better off on the side. It was extremely salty. We had to have the green beans with garlic redone because the sauce they used was greasy and burned our mouths. The new order they brought back to us seemed much smaller than the initial order. I would skip their chocolate dessert. It sounds better than it tastes. My favorite restaurant on Oahu is Roy's Koolina. Everything I have ever had there is excellent. They have a fantastic happy hour. Their Chocolate Decadence is worth eating. Overall, if you choose this restaurant, ask questions about your choices to make sure everything is to your tastes and preferences. Request outside seating. Beautiful ambiance.

Yelp
We went there for pre-dinner drinks and appetizer. It is located in front of the Waikiki Beach and the ambiance is chic. The staff was friendly and fast, we did not wait long to order and to be served. The wontons were really good and not too spicy. The cocktail was original and tasty. I would like to go back and try more grin their dinner nenu

Yelp
This was my husband and my favorite date night meal in Hawaii! The fried Branzino was delicious! It was perfectly cooked with a crisp outer texture skin, not overcooked in the slightest inside, and easy to finish because it was deboned completely with a delicious sauce to pair and fresh cilantro garnish. My favorite dish was the roasted duck, because it was cooked beautifully and the homemade taco shells replicated bao style buns to eat them with the garnishes and hoisin. It wasn't overly fatty or lean, perfect cuts with super tender texture in every bite! Everything was honestly great from the service of the entire staff, our server Emerson, and the overlook we had to see the sunset over Waikiki beach in perfect weather. We loved this spot and will definitely come again when we visit Hawaii in the coming year!

Yelp
We had a fantastic meal here, most of the dishes were stellar, there were a few that were just okay. I was stuck between 4 and 5 stars, I think I'm bumping it up to 5 stars because some of the dishes were really great. Standouts - sticky ribs really are stellar, duck Caesar salad, and the malasada dessert Just okay - Kakuni bop The room where we were seated was also very hot and bright for the time of day, and unfortunately they didn't have any blinds or coverings for the window. Eventually the sun went down enough that it was fine, but seemed strange that they didn't account for this.

Yelp
Granted that this is an iron chef's restaurant it has to be evaluated as such. Let's begin: Service: fairly impeccable. Waiters are attentive. Food is brought out quickly. Empty plates are removed swiftly. Ambiance: very pleasant setting properly themed. Open kitchen concept is very nice. Fairly loud though Food: sticky ribs - have ruined all other ribs for me. Absolutely amazing. Fall right off the bone. Crispy rice tuna app - rice is indeed perfectly crispy, the tuna on top is flavorful and the topping of a slice of Serrano and 1 additional garnish push it over the top Grilled kalbi: these short ribs on a bed of kimchi are the softest ribs I've ever had. Packed with flavor, cooked to a rare finish on a very hot plate. Kimchi lacks some bitterness but packs spice. This dish also lacks a side of rice. If I was eating just ribs over kimchi it would surely be missing a side. Excellent flavor but an incomplete dish in my opinion. Ishiyaki buribop: basically their interpretation of bimbimbop. Rice with tuna slices and a raw egg in a very hot bowl and the fish is cooked within that bowl by the server at the table as well as the egg into the rice. Presentation is great. Taste of the hamachi is unlike any other fish I've had. However this dish overall seems bit simple. Just rice and fish. Tastes great and the rice went well to accompany the short ribs

Yelp
Love this seared wagyu tempura roll which came with a torched show. This was delish! We ordered only from happy hr menu but item was off their regular menu. Also ordered their dim sum sampler and wagyu gaprao nachos. If you order off their happy hr menu then you sit in their bar and lounge area. Food here is pretty good. Service was good too.

Yelp
The service was excellent, the ambiance was very chill, being right on the beach, and even the food quality was good, but the menu selections and recipes were so "meh". Didn't seem up to the Morimoto level of creativity that he's known for. I don't mind paying extra (and you will!) for excellent food and service, but this food wasn't worth it.

Yelp
Hostess was very unfriendly, not pleasant and non welcoming. She treated your guest like they were a bother which is a cardinal sin in any restaurant of your caliber. You should consider terminating any employees that cannot smile and make your guest feel welcome! Especially on an important holiday like Thanksgiving. I decided to stay because the host who sat us was very nice and pleasant. Ambiance was lively and upbeat with a nice view of Waikiki beach. Server introduced himself and went through the Thanksgiving specials. Cocktail was strong and smooth. Hot and sour soup was flavorful. Sticky ribs was the star, sweet, crispy and real tender. Hamachi taco was a treat to the senses. Sea bass was cooked perfectly, light and fluffy. Roast duck was served Peking style not greasy and paired perfectly with the scallions, sauces with tortilla. Kalbi took forever and had to send back cause it was raw. After recooked, the Kalbi was well seasoned, tender and delicious. Manager had a great presence, appreciated his upbeat demeanor and following up with the service. Overall, a good memorable Thanksgiving dinner.

Yelp
Went down to Waikiki for a staycation at the Alohilani hotel to celebrate our anniversary. The last time we stayed there we ate at the ground floor restaurant, Momsan, which is also a Morimoto restaurant. We liked it so much we ate there twice in one weekend so this trip to town we decided we'd spend more and try this place located on the second floor. We made last minute reservations in December which were easy. We arrived on time and got seated right away. The restaurant decor is really nice and I liked the open kitchen concept. Someone immediately came to give us water and let us know our server would be by shortly. A couple minutes later our server came by and immediately apologized because he said they are short staffed and he had two big parties coming in he'd have to take care of. No issues from us as we know how hard it is getting staff post-pandemic. At any rate we'd had time to check out the menu and our server told us the food was primarily family style which works for us because we like to try different things. We settled on garlic shrimp, kung pao chicken and garlic green beans, because I needed some veggies in my life. Our food came out one at a time about 5 minutes after we ordered. Everything looked good so we were anxious to dive in. We got a bit of everything and started eating and were SO disappointed. Garlic Shrimp - Nice big shrimp (whole with the head on so you have to peel) but they were overcooked and the flavor was lackluster. They were sitting in a sauce that was thick and goopy and not tasty. Kung Pao Chicken - Normal dish that was good but nothing special or extra tasty about it. It's a step up from Panda Express but I still thought it would be so much better. Sauce was on the thicker side and really too sweet. Garlic Green Beans - the saving grace and why ultimately they got 3 stars. Nice and crispy with a yummy garlic sauce. Maybe our expectations were too high with Morimoto being an iron chef. As my boyfriend mentioned, Morimoto wasn't working there that night....ha! After tax and tip we paid close to $100 and it wasn't even worth half that amount. All evening we kept brining up how disappointed we were that our anniversary dinner was not good and expensive. Maybe they had an off night because the reviews are good but it's a no for us. We won't be returning. In fact the next day, before leaving the hotel, we ate at his other restaurant downstairs. It was half the price and very delicious!

Yelp
Came here for a bachelors dinner party and I was seriously underwhelmed. The service here was great and all but I thought the food was really mid. Maybe because we are all use to Asian food from the San Gabriel valley but I can't really justify the price over here. Everything was so dam overpriced but I guess that's Hawaii. For the Peking duck I'd wish they used the Chinese sweet buns instead of tortilla.

Yelp
We love the food and excellent service at Morimoto Asia Waikīkī. Sitting outside at sunset time is so nice with the tradewinds blowing. Don't miss the sticky ribs, Hamachi tacos and Kakuni bop. Oh and that roast duck- so juicy and delicious, don't forget to order some. Half an order is great for two people to share as an entree or four people as an appetizer.
