I Never Liked the Caribbean—but This Island Made Me Fall in Love With It

10 Beautiful Islands Around the World to Travel - AFAR
"A UNESCO World Heritage site showcasing volcanic landscapes, dense rainforest and dramatic waterfalls, with close to 300 miles of trails that make it a standout destination for multi-day hikes and nature exploration." - Kathryn Romeyn
Still one of the best hikes. It's pretty challenging but equally rewarding to be at one with so much nature. With determination, almost anyone can make this walk despite their level of fitness.
And then the swim up the titou gorge is a must after that walk.

Amazing!! There is some rough terrain but so worth the hike. We had a 10 hour day hiking and it was unforgettable! Prepare to be hot & wet! Must put this on your TO DO list while in Dominica!

Morne Trois Pitons was the first national park to be established in Dominica (in 1975). In 1997 it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At an elevation of 762 meters, Freshwater Lake in the park is the largest lake on Dominica and the source of the Roseau River. The lake sits in an old volcanic crater at the foot of Morne Macaque.

Incredible place, feels like you’re on an episode of National Geographic. I explored with tour guide Peter Green and he was amazing! Find him on Facebook at Peter Green Bushman Tours or get his info at the Discover Dominica office in Roseau.

Untouched rainforest, well built paths. Only for experienced hikers. Gorgeous viewpoints along the path. Lots of mud due to the daily rain.

Speaking of hiking, this is an unforgettable hike. We were all adventurously dirty but only an exciting and memorable hike will do such.
