I had heard a lot about this place and finally decided to give it a try. The staff were awesome—super friendly and helpful. The prices were very reasonable, which was a big plus. As for the food, it was good, but not quite what I expected. Some dishes were a bit too sugary for my taste, while others leaned more on the salty side. This is just my personal opinion, and since it was my first time trying it, I’m still a bit unsure about what the actual flavor profile is supposed to be. There were only two tables available for dining in, so I think they mainly focus on takeout. Parking can be a bit tricky, as they only have street parking that can fit about three cars. Overall, it’s a solid spot with great prices and worth trying out—especially if you’re doing takeout. I might give it another shot just to better understand the flavors.

A friend recommended this place to me and I finally decided to give it a try, it was 100% worth it! They have delicious bubble tea, sweet/savory buns, and many other things. The staff was friendly and the vibe was awesome. As someone who's 1/2 Chinese, the food hit the spot for me. Also they have very reasonable prices and are in a good location. For sure coming back for more tasty goodness :).

I’ve been to Morning Light several times, and it’s always a delight. The sesame balls (offered every other weekend) are incredible. So incredible that I have the sesame ball schedule repeating on my calendar. I also love the chicken curry bun. I tried the mochi sesame bread for the first time last weekend (offered on the alternating non-sesame ball weekends), and it is off the charts. Most notably, Ken is my favorite restaurant employee in all of VT. He is so sweet and friendly. If you’re having a down day, his kindness will brighten it up. We must protect Ken at all costs. This is a family owned business that makes delicious sweet and savory treats. Highly recommend enjoying their goodies. VT is lucky to have them!

Whats not to love? A wide selection of authentic sweet and savory buns available at a very affordable price. I got the pork bun, the pastry was fluffy and light, while the pork was sweet and tender. A perfect combo!

We ordered a mix of 10 pastries/buns/tarts between two people. We finished everything. The weekend tea and coffee takes me back to Hong Kong. The owners are incredibly warm and friendly. This place is a gem and we are so lucky to have this here in Vermont.

This is the best bakery ever!! Everything is so fresh and so much thought and attention to detail is put in to the basked goods. My roommate and I treat ourselves to morning light any chance we get, we have tried 5 of the tea flavors and probably 10 different pastries. We have been so impressed time and time again. The cashier is so knowledgable and friendly he helped us decide what we should try and was so kind. I can't recommend Morning Light highly enough. (bonus, ask for the punch card for a free bubble tea every 10th time). A few of our favorites are the taro bun, pineapple bun, mango mochi, and green tea swiss roll, as well as the taro tea, and the messy bubble milk tea. The buns are legit and remind me of the ones you would find in Chinatown’s. Picture is the cocktail (coconut) and roast pork buns. I also got a don tot (egg custard). The don tot could have used more filling and less crust. The filling also was a bit more on the creamier side texture wise. My only concern with this place is location, as there isn’t really any parking options. I suppose you could park across the street at winooski beverage and walk over.

New to town and I'm very happy I stopped by to try this place. Ken, wife and staff are very friendly and helpful with any questions. I was hungry so I tried a few things. I also returned the next following week to try more. Unfortunately they only have two small tables to seat two people at each but that doesn't matter to me. It's the food and drinks that matter. The cheesecakes are so delicious. I tried three different black iced teas. Naturally sweetened. Pork buns taste good. I can't wait to go back again and try new items.

Ken and Mama Liu helped us cater desserts for our traditional Chinese tea ceremony! Very communicative and helped us arrange pick up for maximum freshness. We ordered wife cakes, egg tarts, and mochis. Our guests loved EVERYTHING, especially the egg tarts! We'll definitely be stopping by everytime we're in the area!

An Asian bakery in Vermont?! I remember when this place opened up a few years ago. My schoolmates and I were elated that we could get Chinese style baked yummies without having to go out of state. More recently visiting Vermont a few years later, we picked up a bunch of buns, savory and sweet, to bring to a reunion of sorts. I recalled that we got cream buns and pork buns, all tasty. I haven't been able to personally step foot in the bakery, given the timing arrangements we had, but everything I have eaten from this bakery has been yummy. I especially loved what was like guabao, a "Chinese style hamburger," though I'm not sure how Morning Light called it. It had warm saucy pork and lettuce on a soft fluffy bao. I was truly impressed, especially as a born and raised Californian.

First time here and will have to return! They were closing up and had wife buns left, so I grabbed one and was pleasantly surprised by the very unique flavor and texture of the pastry as well as the price. Will return earlier in the day

So good! So friendly! We enjoyed several different buns based on other reviewers' recommendations: curry chicken, roasted pork, and coconut. All of them were flavorful with a wonderful, light but slightly chewy bun texture. We also loved the delightful egg tart and the mango mochi. Our order was ready quickly, and the staff were incredibly nice. Don't hesitate to stop here!

What a wonderful surprise to stumble upon this little gem! A short walk away from the Winooski Sunday farmer's market, this is the kind of food that's perfect for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or anytime snack. Super warm & friendly service here, and the yummiest food choices! We tried the (hot) Hong Kong Milk Tea...and are counting down the days til they open again so we can get another. It is THAT GOOD. We also tried: Sesame Ball - I had no idea they only make this every other weekend! This is always my fave, but the usual red bean filling is my least fave part of it. However! The way they make the red bean filling here - lighter, less sweet, who knows what makes it SO DELICIOUS, but it IS. What a treat! Strawberry Mochi - a whole, fresh, chocolate-covered strawberry is wrapped in super squishy-soft mochi. Perfectly lightly sweet! Mango Mochi - fresh mango chunks in the middle of that squishy-soft mochi, rolled in coconut. Yummy! Curry Chicken Bun - the soft bread bun ob this is less sweet than the traditional ones. The curry flavor is milder, too. Definitely a great choice! BBQ Pork Bun - mmmm, a soft bbq pork bun that is like delish comfort food. A must try! There are so many other things I want to try! I'll be back very soon for the Hot Dog bun, the Tuna Mayo bun, the egg tart, the custard, taro, & pineapple buns, and of course that hot Hong Kong Milk Tea!

Very friendly staff and went out of their way to accommodate me! I wanted to order a cake and some pastries for my friend's birthday and the owner was able to put together everything for me and make an exception to deliver it 10 miles away. (He even included 3 extra egg tarts complimentary!!) My friend was very happy and I can't thank the owner enough to help me surprise my friend! So pleasantly surprised to have found and Asian bakery in the area.

Good lord what a wonderful place. It's only got about 4 chairs, but there is a beautiful park about a block away on the river where you could eat. I was killing time in Burlington after dropping of my business partner for a flight which was a few hours before mine. I was just looking for a place to get a coffee and sit down. BUT, I discovered something much better. A wonderful bakery. The cold coffee was excellent, but the pork belly bun was one of the best things I have ever eaten. The staff is very courteous and professional. If I lived in this lovely town, I would go here at least once a week. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Cute and very small little pastry shop; delicious and affordable offerings. The man behind the counter was patient and kind; he suggested the coffee Swiss roll and it was to die for! We got a couple of savory and sweet rolls, all were fresh and tasty! I like that they offer a punch card for boba, as I am a complete fiend for them so I will definitely be back!

I never leave reviews but I just have to support this business in any way I can. I absolutely adore this place... the food is *amazing.* I always get a chicken curry bun, but I've also had the pineapple, cream, and ham and cheese buns, and they're all amazing. But for real, do yourself a favor and get an egg tart. And also, the guy who works behind the counter is so just so nice. Once I went close to when they were leaving and he gave me a few extra buns for free, and it made my day.

Some of the best pork buns I've ever had. Delicious and moist chunks of sweet pork with a soft, chewy and slightly sweet bun wrapped around. They are made several times throughout the day so they are always fresh and often times hot. I've had the pineapple pastry as well, which is also tasty. The buns are about $2 and 2 fill me up. Walking distance to the Winooski circle and very quick access off I-89.

As a Bay Area gal with a bone-deep love of pork buns and boba, Morning Light is a miraculous new development in my life. I adore the interesting varieties of boba, the astonishingly sweet and hot Hong Kong style milk tea, delicate matcha swiss roll cakes, comforting hot dog buns, spicy pork belly bao......... ok, let's be real, I love everything on the menu. The staff are *so* friendly. They do special pastries around Lunar New Year, too. You can order online for pickup, or gather around the service window to wait with other Winooski bao enthusiasts. I just discovered this shop this morning when I had a bubble tea craving. The drinks and pastries (both sweet and savory) all are phenomenally delicious. We specifically got the pineapple bun, coconut bun, egg tarts, pork belly bao, mango bubble tea, and taro bubble tea with mango popping bubbles. Can't wait to try their beautiful cakes next time. The people who run the shop are just the nicest. will definitely be coming back frequently. Pork belly bao is not pictured because my partner ate it before I could take a pic.

I love Morning Light Bakery! I've been going here weekly since I got back from China. Some of the best Hong Kong breads and drinks you can find in the surrounding area. Morning Light is a small corner shop. Only can seat 4 people at 2 tables, so it's better to order and go. It is a family run establishment. The family is from Hong Kong! Very friendly and they make connections with customers like me! I enjoy the bubble tea very much. They have a good selection and it is expanding as I continue to go. The pastries and breads are fresh and delicious. Fantastic price especially on the breads (only $2 each!) Keep your eye out for weekend specials!

Absolutely fantastic, gives Race St in Philly a run for it's money. Every baked item was soft, fresh, and delicious, and we tried many on our picnic lunch. The bao was world class as well (just be sure to request no cilantro if you are someone for whom it tastes like soap). Bubble tea was also delicious!

Thrilled to have this place within walking distance. Amazing handmade buns and sweet teas that aren't too expensive, morning light has become a weekly treat (and sometimes more than that even). The staff is incredibly friendly, and they seem to be adding new stuff all the time. If you're in the area and want a snack or an amazing lunch on the go, this place is excellent.

This place is great. Love love love the passion fruit iced tea and all the different buns. We've tried most of them at this point and they are all delicious, you can't really go wrong. Egg tarts are also wonderful. But, my most favorite thing to get here is the pork belly bun. I have tried for years to make bao buns at home to varying degrees of success. I don't need to try anymore, these are the best ones in the area and they have them everyday. I've also gotten some of their cakes and they are delicious as well. The "swiss" rolls are fluffy and light and don't even get me started on that passion fruit cheesecake. You can go here just to get coffee or bubble tea, but they have so much good stuff you'd be missing out. Just go and enjoy!

most amazing place on earth! i'm from long island (somewhat near queens) so i've had a lot of exposure to asian cuisine (im also chinese myself). i've been to countless dim sum and countless specialty bubble tea shops, but nothing beats morning light!!! my absolute favorite now you have to try them! and get their pork buns too! (steamed or baked or both) update: somehow i forgot to mention how amazing their service is too... i absolutely LOVE the few people who work there! (it might be family owned). SUCH nice people and so amazing to see when i'm getting my food. this whole joint really brightens my mood each time i go!

So good. Char siu baos are coated in a sweet but savory syrup and are great on a cool morning. Bubble drinks are pretty solid even at 8am. Pork belly bao was really tender with spicy sauce. It was more of a small sandwich than a bao. The egg tart was flakey and sweet. The pineapple bao was sweet with pineapple chunks and a pineapple powder crust.

If I could rate 6 stars, I would. Visiting Vermont from NYC, we came to this bakery having eaten many a Chinese baked goodies. We ordered a pork bun, curry chicken bun, pork belly steamed bun, and a red bean bun. Every single bun was an absolute delight, better then any I've had before. The warm fresh buns had to have been baked in love, the fresh curry chicken was outstanding. Steamed pork bun was better then those I've had even in Flushing, NY. Everything was wonderful, can't recommend this place enough!

This place is such a delight! Friendly folks and delicious baked goods. I particularly love the ham and cheese rolls and the coconut rolls. Pair it with a bubble tea and enjoy a relaxing snack on the river front benches down the hill. I love supporting this business - they so clearly love what they do!

Excellent buns for the Vermont area another surprise for Vermont just like California Asian bakeries

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their pineapple bun (a go-to fav of mine). Given how tiny the bakery was, I'm glad they limited the assortment of breads that they made, and focused on quality rather than quantity. For my first time, I tried their pineapple bun and their boba tea. Both were made according to Hong Kong styles (personally I am more accustomed to Taiwanese styles, but hey I'm not complaining: Asian food is Asian food in VT and I'll take what I can get). The bun was soft and doughy just how I liked it, and had a creamy filling on the inside, making for a delicious morning pastry. The boba themselves were not as chewy as I would have liked, but nothing strongly amiss there. I would love to come back and try more of their other buns! What a great find in Winooski!

Let me tell you a little bit about myself before going on to the review... I LOVE asian bakeries. I used to visit family regularly in Taiwan and without a fail, my siblings and I would get off the airplane, head straight to a bakery, fill a bag full of fresh egg tarts, buns and cakes, and feast at my parent's home. It was the best. It's been 10 years since I last went to Taiwan and partaken of this ritual, but when my coworker told me that an asian bakery had opened up in Winooski, I nearly fell off my chair as I started drooling and imagined bringing home a bag of goodies. Morning Light Bakery did not disappoint! I got a HK milk tea and a red bean bun fresh out of the oven. Both were spot on, the bun was soft, the texture just right, not too sweet and I'm pretty sure the filling was made in-house (not from a can)! The milk tea was also exactly the flavor I expected: strong tea & lots of milk. A pineapple bun, ham bun, tuna bun, and wife cake also made it home, barely. All were very good, but the pineapple & red bean buns were definitely standouts. As the other reviewer Jamie R. said, "Just go! Go now!" Reasonable prices, family owned business, great addition to Winooski! P.S. I know it's a Hong Kong bakery, so the style is a bit different from Taiwanese bakeries, but there is a lot of overlap.

I've been going here since 2019 and they never miss. Everything is super good, the employees are very welcoming, and their Facebook is always being updated w/ info on store hours and specialty items. If you're in the area definitely check them out. The pork buns are my favorite, and their bubble tea is also super great. I haven't tried any of their cakes personally but I've only heard good things.

Excellent service, have almost tried every bun and can recommend them all except the hotdog bun (but I'm not really a fan of hotdogs). Would strongly recommend the Belly Boa and an iced coffee with bubbles. This is exactly the kind of business that makes this town a better place.

These folks went above and beyond for me. They bent over backwards to make sure I got the passionfruit cheesecake I wanted in time for a very special event. The dessert was a hit, and the person of honor (a cheesecake connoisseur) said it was the best he had ever had. Top marks across the board, I will go out of my way to give this bakery my business in the future!!

Love it here!! My favorite things are the Swiss rolls, mango bubble tea and the veggie bao buns. The staff are so kind and friendly and the orders are always ready on time. This place is a hidden gem and my only wish is that they were open more days of the week!

I feel so lucky to have Morning Light Bakery within a 20 minute drive from my house. Everything is so tasty- my favorites being the regular tea with mango boba, pineapple bun, and their spicy pork belly bao. And can't forget the mango pudding. Not only is the food delicious, but the service is spectacular. You can tell they are truly good people who enjoy sharing their offerings with the community.

People working there are so nice! The iced tea with boba was great and so was the mango mousse cake. They have so many options I'm gonna have to go more and more to try them all :)

I got the pineapple bread, an egg tart, and the original milk bubble tea and all were scrumptious. The pineapple bread has the yummiest cookie-like coating on top! The employees were SO NICE! I went outside after I ordered just to attend to my dog, and before I knew it, one of the employees brought out my drink order and was super friendly. Best baked goods matched with the best service.

I love myself a Pork Bun, and this place does not disappoint. Clean, Friendly atmosphere. I will definitely be making this a regular spot to stop at in the mornings.

As a California native, I used to have to wait for a biannual cross-country trip to get Hong Kong-style baked goods or bubble tea. No longer the case with Morning Light! I love that they are a mom and pop shop, and their sweet buns, mochi, cake slices, steamed veggie/meat buns, egg tarts, and bubble tea are all so tasty. Bonus points for being so friendly and going out of their way to take good care of customers! So glad that they are here in the Burlington area!

Morning light bakery is a little gem in winooski and should be a destination for anyone who wants breakfast or lunch that is truly extraordinary. whether it's savory or sweet the quality is tremendous. I highly recommend their red bean or taro buns for those looking for sweeter fare, and their roasted pork or pork floss buns for the savory side. Their cakes are excellent for sharing and not so big as to intimidate. I almost always get some bubble tea to go as well and I'm working my way through all of their mix-ins (try strawberry milk tea with lychee). The staff are also incredibly nice. I had recently made a big order for breakfast for my work and they had everything ready to go on time and nicely separated into sweet and savory. As I was leaving they gave me two boxes of cookies on the house. If you come in I can assure you you will not be disappointed. There is nothing like morning light in all of Vermont.

I was thrilled to find out that a Chinese bakery was opening in Chittenden County. We went a few weeks ago and they did not disappoint! Their buns are fresh, warm and delicious and the staff is so kind.

Yummy! This small bakery makes low priced delicious buns and rolls. They are friendly and enjoy their craft. I am definitely going to keep coming back. Would also highly recommend their curried chicken bun and red bean paste bun.

Morning Light Bakery is a fantastic addition to Winooski. It's a bit of a small space, so there's only a couple tables to sit at, but the service is very friendly, and the desserts are fantastic. I got a bubble tea, egg custard tart, and matcha roll cake (for a very decent price) all of them tasted great, and the bubble tea didn't give me a caffeine headache the same way Fresh's bubble tea does

I've been buying pork buns in Boston's China town bakery's for years and since moving here nothing compares. Until now! Delicious! Also bought red bean buns also very good. They were out of sesame buns , but looking forward to returning and trying them as they are also a favorite I've had in Boston. Nice looking cakes in the case which we didn't try, but since we were so happy what we did try , we will go back to try other treats.
