Booked a table here for my birthday, what a great little find! Food was amazing, one of the best meals I have ever had (Chicken Supreme) really came together very well. Wife's steak was also amazing and too notch peppercorn sauce! The service is exceptional, very attentive staff make you feel very welcome! The view is also amazing overlooking the valley! We will definitely come back whenever we are in the lakes! Great job team, keep up the good work!

What a fantastic Sunday Lunch, the weather was great, sat in the perfect beer garden with our friends who visit occasionally. The food did not disappoint at all. 4x Roast dinners one of them GF so was given extra veg and roasted potatoes. The beef was perfect, pink and could have cut it with a butter knife. The front of house team were great, friendly as always, cheerful, helpful and cheeky. Special shout out to the Kitchen Staff today, you were on top form, appreciated. Highly recommend you visit this family run proper country inn.

After a nice long energetic walk I was looking forwaed to a pie and a pint.||Problem is I am fussy I hate a pie that is said to be slow cooked and is still tough and gristlly. Lucky several pubs in lakes do good pies like Queens Head but it was not raking bookings so decided to try mortal man.||We were greeted with a cheerful welcome, noticed the pub was very busy for a early dinner (good sign).... Brilliant Mortal Man Ale.... Then very happy fun waitress served us.||Elected the beef cheek pie..... In my belief the best cut for soft rich beef stew... And my wife fish and chips.|Was not disappointed.... Looked huge but pastry was very light but beef melt in the mouth rich and sumptuous. Filler yes but every mouthful worth every calorie. Fish and chips were great.||So in many a year coming to the Lakes I found the perfect beef pie!! (yep and it beats the great northern pie company pies which are great but not the same experience). And what's more a bloody good ale to go with it...briliant job chef.||And as for the service... Perfect just what you want it to be..... Friendly, happy, responsive and and efficient.||We shall return with family!

We had lunch here. We hadn’t booked. We were greeted in a friendly way. The pub accepts dogs without any hassle. Our family had 4 large dogs but it wasn’t a problem. ||Three of us ordered wild mushrooms on sourdough which was both plentiful and cooked to perfection. In all a thoroughly enjoyable lunch with great ambience. ||Can highly recommend.

I stopped here after a walk that was too wet to eat my packed lunch! Had a delicious vegan meal. Lovely ambience, very friendly staff and they had really nice gifts to buy too. I also enjoyed their own house IPA.

Possibly the most dog friendly hotel we've stayed in. Our room was very small but can't do much about that, more importantly it was clean and had the modern amenities needed to make for a comfortable stay. Friendly staff and lovely relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast and evening meals were lovely. Garden area is just beautiful. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic dog-friendly hotel where the staff genuinely do care for your pet and try to cater to their comfort as well as yours. Our room was clean and had the modern amenities needed to make for a comfortable stay. Complimentary continental breakfast is also a really nice touch. We ate both nights at the restaurant and cannot complain about the quality of the food or the portion size.

We stayed at a cottage near here and didn't find this gem until the end of our stay, gutted. It's a dog friendly pub/hotel. We just went for dinner on our last evening and we were not disappointed. The food is excellent and great choice and not you bog standard stuff. They have really thought about the menu and give you a twist on it so it feels like you having something different. The food is something you would find in a posh restaurant in a city. I wish I had taken a photo of the food. There was 4 of us and all had 3 courses, all enjoyed every bit. It's more like a pub than restaurant but a posh pub, seats were comfy and it felt snug and cosy. We did try and go for breakfast but they don't do it on a Sunday (the day we went), as there Sunday lunches are very popular and it gives the kitchen chance to prep for it. I would recommend you booked as it is very popular and I can see why. They have outdoor sitting too but didn't go outside so can't say what it looks like but know the view would be amazing as the cottage we had was on same level and our view was wonderful. Only negative was the 2 who asked for steaks (sirloin) medium arrived med/well more on the well side and one was very fatty for a sirloin which is a shame when on the same table you could see the other person had a no fat what so ever but then again that is me being picky but besides that it was all perfect (both steaks were still eaten thou). All in all we thought it was great which is why I gave in 5stars even though steaks weren't perfect as the food & service was that good.

Yelp
Went here for lunch and the garden had a lovely view. I ordered the Ploughmans and beside the fact it was missing the advertised cheddar, it was very tasty. My husband said his fish and chips was very good. Finding it was our challenge as we did not realize how far down the country lane it would be after the last sign we saw. We stopped and asked and we had just not gone far enough, so when you see the last sign just keep on going and you will run in to it.

Yelp
Though we only had a light lunch comprised of mostly starters and sides, everything we ordered was very well done. The service was warm and friendly, and we were very happy with our decision to visit the Mortal Man for lunch.

Yelp
Ate in the restaurant a couple of times this week. Food is homemade and fairly good dog friendly and good service
