I visited Mosaic Templars Cultural Center for a experience assignment for my Masters class at UALR. My experience here was amazing, everything was neat and very eye opening for a white individual myself seeing the oppression of African Americans through the museum and listening to stories and Audio. Museum had a bit of everything and up to date on technology aswell. I honestly recommend it to anyone!! Especially if you don’t know much about black history in Arkansas this is a great place to know more about Black History and oppression. I think it was amazing to see history that isn’t told in history books in a place that’s free to the public. When I went they had an Emmett Till exhibit with original audio from trials and witnesses to the incident. Emmett Till exhibit is a tear jerker. Security lady was very nice. The lady at the front desk gave me an introduction of the place to help me get started and told me how to navigate through the whole museum. PLEASE GO!! #whitesilencekills

I host a motorcycle event and we take the folk on a ride and this year we selected the MTCC as our historic destination, over 100 bikers from ask over the country and Canada went to the center and we all learned so much. the staff was amazing, very knowledgeable and ask so friendly. I highly recommend you take the time to go.

Google
Excellent museum of African American history with a focus on Little Rock and the state of Arkansas. Interactive and mutimedia exhibits, historical artifacts, and seasonal displays tell the stories. I especially enjoyed newspaper and participant memorbilia from the 1963 March on Washington, and a video describing how federal housing, urban renewal, and highway funds were applied to reinforce racial segregation and upend a thriving Black business district. There are chilling displays about local lynchings and the Elaine Massacre of 1919. More hopeful displays detail the continuous Black contributions to literature, music, sports, agriculture, science, and education. Highly recommended.

So much history of Little Rock in this one building. Take the family or go and tour your own city. Learn something new

Google
A must see historic location that also delivers African American history. Being from the South I'm familiar with the overall history, however, this cultural center brings to light the local history in engaging ways.

Outstanding introduction into the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, by Carolin. She was poised, articulate, and ready to do her job. I really liked the educational spirit about her. We had such a good time moving through the center, learning about notable figures within and from Arkansas. I didn’t realize there was so much history here in this state. We don’t really think about Arkansas because we are not from here and because the state is not known for major attractions. I even went all the way up to the 3rd floor. I really enjoyed myself learning and seeing the artifacts.

Yelp
Toured this wonderful space to learn about the rich civil rights history of Little Rock. This is a must if you want to learn about all the great work that went on during the civil rights era up until now. Multiple floors of history in a historic building culminating with the restored hall on the top floor. This is a must for anyone visiting Little Rock for the first time.

Yelp
This is a cute little museum with Arkansas history of the African Americans in the state. It's not very big, but there's a lot of history there. The attendant who greeted me was very nice. When I told her I was from out of town, she gave me a nice run down of the history before I started my self guided tour. I was able to see everything within an hour (granted I didn't read every single little thing). On the 3rd floor they have their Arkansas Black Hall of Fame and a blurb about all the previous winners. I'm glad I noticed this place on the way to my hotel and decided to check it out. It was worth it!

Yelp
Wonderful experience. Great to know this place still exists. Displays of the time and period American woukd like to erase from its history. Exhibits of past and current Pioneers in the black community. The ugly and painful but true history of how America was built.

Yelp
"The museum is dedicated to collecting, preserving, interpreting, and celebrating African American history, culture and community in Arkansas from 1870 to the present, and informs and educates the public about black achievements - especially in business, politics and the arts." The museum is a newly renovated facility. It has a great layout, is very informative, and is one of the nicest museums to be found in Little Rock. Worth checking out!

Yelp
This is a museum of African American history, but you don't have to be African American to appreciate this place! It is a beautiful building, especially the ballroom /auditorium on the third floor. Parking is on the side of the building, and there is plenty! There is NO admission fee, but donations are accepted. You can go through the museum at your leisure, or schedule a guided tour. Ummm, you should go check it out!

Yelp
This place is awesome! It's a must see if you are in the area. The museum is family friendly with interesting African American history for the adults and hands on activities for the children. Little Rock should be proud. I wish the cultural center advertised better.

Yelp
It is very good a hosting art receptions. Has excellent stage area and arranged chairs. have hosted poetry, plays, and music: Free events, catered food, and ambience. No accomodationist apologies needed, this is an African American musuem. Understand the original location and title is from early 20th century experience of segregration. It was composed of highly educated blacks and upper- middle class blacks. Segregation did produce some of the most productive times in Black American history and it shown in this musuem, During non- actitivity daytime visiting time, the sound level can be overwhelmingly SILENT. You don't have to whisper--just be prepared for a very informative but quiet ambience.
