51 Most Romantic Places in the U.S.A.

"It's a 200-mile Vermont byway ideal for leisurely drives through charming towns like Waterbury, Killington, and Stowe, and it's especially spectacular in fall when the state's foliage is at peak color." - Cailey Rizzo Cailey Rizzo Cailey Rizzo is a contributing writer for Travel + Leisure. Google
Right off 100 east access, trail and bridge is closed due to storm damage, there is access along the road and walking across the rocks but honestly not really needed, viewed from the road is good unless you plan on swimming!

Google
Roadside falls that is very pretty, parking lot is smallish but people seem to be courteous and not camp out. Only three stars because the walking bridge to get to the viewing platform has been closed for some time, limiting access for group or candid photos of the waterfall. Travel to the falls now using a very small footpath on the road side that does not allow passing in each direction, therefore you have to count on people walking back from the falls to step out of the way against a guardrail to allow passage. This is a bit too dangerous for the families out there.

Beautiful spit to visit with parking right beside the falls. The bridge was out, but the falls can still be clearly seen from the street.

Absolutely gorgeous! Think quaint paths, babbling brooks, wooden bridge, beautiful views. Great spot for a photo op. When we went there was noone else there. No cost to enter. Simple and beautiful (This isn't a touristy spot. Dont expect gift shops, or tshirts, etc) Only about 6 parking spots and no bathrooms. You CAN see the falls from the road while driving past. Minimal walking. Not a swim spot. We did everything there was to do in about 10 minutes. We didnt know about it before stopped so it was a surprise on our trek but it was the highlight of our whole day!!!

Google
Its stunning here!! I loved the falls here. Its great spit to dip your toes in. Its bit chilly water. We had to walk on path near the street since the bridge is broken. Just make to be safe on side of road.

Google
Not to be confused with the taller waterfall of the same name in Stowe, VT. This is a very nice waterfall. Probably one of the mossier glens I've visited.

Google
My son and I always go on some type of outdoor adventure . Yesterday we drove to Warren,Vt to discover these absolutely beautiful yet breathtaking waterfalls. Definitely a place to check out.

Google

Yelp
June 7 2025: The wooden bridge to the quick hike is closed due to storm damage. If it is open, it will lead you to see the fall closer. It is still beautiful from the highway view. Definitely stop by and take a photo.

Yelp
Beautiful and worth the stop if you are in the area. We hike everywhere up here and I prefer Warren falls overall but this place is not far and very scenic

Yelp
This is what I would call nature for novices! Moss Glen Falls is a beautiful waterfall that is located right off the scenic Route 100. Make sure to pay careful attention to your GPS - because you may just pass it as you drive by. There is a small shoulder where cars can park, but it isn't a super obvious stop so once GPS has alerted you that you have arrived, you really have! No worries if you pass it (like we did) you can turn around a little ways ahead and be on your way to some beautiful photo ops. There is a pretty short bridge that leads you from the street to the falls - less than 5 min max. Once you get to the falls, they are so so beautiful. This is a really quick and easy stop if you are in the area.

Yelp
The natural scenery was absolutely stunning, worth visiting. However, there is no bathroom or portable toilet onsite! I wonder whether people are expected to use nature when they need a release.... It does not seem to be friendly to the eco system to me.

Yelp
If you are in Stowe, do not miss Miss Glen Falls! The Falls are close to downtown Stowe, easy to get to, and just so beautiful! There is no parking lot. People park on the side of the road. Even those in the worst shape will be able to take the short trail to the Falls. You can climb the rocks to get a view of the Falls from the top. We did that and then we climbed down to wade in the water and see the Falls up close. Spectacular! Even though it was the middle of summer, the water was still so cold! The water was was to shallow for swimming but the trip was well worth it!

Yelp
So....I'm a waterfall blogger and this is my first waterfall visit in Vermont. I'm a nerd that carries my maps and waterfalls guide in my car and stop wherever I am to find them and then blog the story. If you find yourself in this area and do not stop by Moss Glen Falls in Granville then you are doing yourself a great disservice. This is a 35 foot horsetail waterfall fueled by the Deer Hollow Brook. It's visible from the road and there is a small parking area just past the falls. As you approach the falls you will see a smaller fall called Little Moss Glen Falls. Smaller meaning thinner because it is still 50 feet tall. Bonus fall! There is a little boardwalk leading up to the main fall making this accessible to the handicapped. But otherwise you can go around the boardwalk and walk up close to the falls to really soak in its beauty. Definitely a breathtaking stop!

Yelp
Beautiful 80 ft falls located just a stone's throw from scenic Route 100. It's technically in the Mad River area, but also within The Green Mountain confines. It's a quick, easy stop for anyone passing by...and you really shouldn't (pass by) without stopping. Definitely worth a visit! It won't too take long. There's no official parking lot, just a large shoulder area where about 8 cars or so can fit. Be sure to park smart so as many people can squeeze in! From there it's just an easy walk on a very structurally sound boardwalk built out of recycled wood products and supermarket plastic bags to the base of the falls. Unfortunately you can't get down into the falls here like you can other places in the area (Warren Falls), but it's lovely to stand in it's mist and snap a few photos. The power of the falls obviously depends on the rainfall at the time, so it can vary. The day we visited early May it was rushing pretty strong. Keep your eyes peeled for moose, deer and black bears around the falls! Lovely little side of the road stop.

Yelp
Note this is Moss Glen Falls on Route 100 in Granville! There is another Moss Glen Falls located in Stowe that is completely different. We recently took a road trip through Vermont to see as many waterfalls as possible. One of the ones we were able to easily find was Moss Glen Falls. The Falls are right on Vermont Route 100, and we had no problem finding the falls using Google Maps. The parking area is located right on the road, and is clearly marked with a sign. From the parking area there is a boardwalk going to both Little Moss Glen Falls (to the right), and Moss Glen Falls (to the left). You can just about see both from the parking area, and the walk is very minimal. There is some information at the trailhead. The walk to the falls is very short, and the trail was well-maintained. We visited the small falls first, which were still flowing a little bit in mid-August. I imagine earlier in the season, there would be a lot more water. This is one that flows over rocks and is not very accessible as far as going in the water. The large falls is much larger, and very impressive. Just beautiful! The water was still flowing in late August 2018. Again, I am sure it would be even more impressive with higher water levels in the spring and early summer. The water is beautiful and clear and VERY cold! You could feel the cold air emanating off the water. We waded in, but it was too cold to go for a real dip. What a beautiful place to visit and dip our feet in. We had a lovely time stopping to check out this location and enjoy the beauty of Moss Glen Falls.

Yelp
One thing about traveling up Route 100 in Vermont is that there is something beautiful at almost every turn. It's not the road to take if you want to get somewhere in a hurry but it is the route to take to be wowed by central Vermont's scenic splendor. It's the road to take when you're willing to repeatedly pull the car over to check out something amazing. On this latest Route 100 sojourn, we stopped to see these falls. I've been known to go seriously out of my way to see waterfalls but Moss Glen is conveniently located just off the highway. The signs make it impossible to miss. Just pull off the road onto a small parking area. There is a pretty falls to see right there next to the road but if you don't mind taking a bit more time out of your day, you'll find that only a short walk through the woods will bring you to the real McCoy. Magical!

Yelp
It the falls It's great. I see it twice a day. There's a great maple syrup stand here sometimes in the spring. Swimming is limited. Better to head up to warren falls. Still, this is the most iconic waterfall on a road full of waterfalls. I own a waterfall for Pete's sake and I still stop and stare at this one

Yelp
Quaint little falls so close to the highway. You might miss it if you blink. We had to double back after driving right past it. There's a little wooden walk way guiding you from the small lot to a nice view of the falls. There are two falls. Both are charming and allow a little bit of reflection time in a busy world. If you're already on Route 100, make this a must-see stop.

Yelp
This past summer we decided to travel through Vermont exploring the beautiful scenery and as part of our trip we stopped at Glenn Moss Falls. These beautiful falls and the forest that surrounds it was an incredible stop and a great swimming hole. We ended up spending a lot of time here exploring the brook as well as looking at the serenity stones that others have placed. In the end, we loved our time here and we hope that in the future we can return to spend a relaxing summer day here at the falls.

Yelp
The hike is very easy at the beginning and middle. If you want to go up high and see it directly across from you, it's a little steep but still easy. A beautiful view. Going down to the waterfall was the best part; highly recommend you kick off your shoes and walk the little way right to the bottom of the waterfall. Absolutely stunning!

Yelp
Recently took this hike and what it lacks in length, it easily makes up for in the great view of the falls. Perfect for new hikers, like myself, or for families wanting a enjoyable walk in the woods. The stream/creek that guides to the top had beautiful clear water and I would love to see it in early spring when the snow melt is working its magic.

William T.

Yelp
Very beautiful and easy to access. You pull over and park on the side of Route 100 and the falls are right there without any hiking or trekking. The water was ice cold (even by Vermont standards) so it would not be a good swimming hole especially for young children. Not much to do other than view the falls. We stayed about 30 minutes and many other groups came and went during that time.

Yelp
14 miles off route 89. Incredible falls. Lots of little pools to swim in and a little area to hike. One of my favorite falls in new england. It's a special place. About a .4 mile easy hike to get there.

Yelp
This place is absolutely beautiful! The falls are majestic in all seasons.
