Mosselen Belgian Beer Café

This place was a total hit with our group! Everyone enjoyed their beers, main dishes and the delicious goulash soup. The waiter was very friendly too. Definitely recommend this place to any of my friends traveling to Budapest.

The tap beers were excellent, I truly enjoyed Kwak from the traditional glass. Fries as a starters were Ok, a bit expensive though. Service was good also, but I set 2 of 5 with a feeling of sincere disappointment, because we were mislead regarding the service charges and ended up paying twice for service. We got the receipt and the bank card terminal where we should select tip % before the payment. We selected 10% on the terminal, and after reading the slip we understood that the 13% tip was already included. We did not expect that we will be asked for the tip selection on the terminal, when it is already included in the slip, and no one from the stuff let us know about it. This is not transparent at all, and it is not fair to double charge for the same service. Moreover, I see same problem was highlighted in another review 4 days back, where the owner promised to improve here. Well, the improvement is not there yet.

Fantastic place with very tasty food and amazing beers—especially the small barrel they place on your table, allowing you to pour your own beer. Kwak beer was also great.

A fantastic spot for food and beer. The soups were amazing, especially the goulash and sweet potato soup. The main dishes were equally delicious, especially the pork in blue cheese sauce. The atmosphere was also very inviting and pleasant.

As a native of Belgium, I can confirm that this place is 100% authentic and has the feel of my native country. A wonderful selection of Belgian beers and the ambiance is warm, cozy and convivial. They clearly put a lot of effort into this place. I highly recommend.

I went in looking or a small home-style Belgian comfort meal. I just ordered fries with 3 mayonaises. The fries were not great, and not at all Belgian. However, they were made tastier by the sauces which were very authentic and gave a good impression of how frieds are eaten in Belgium. The service was friendly and attentive and the place is definitely cosy with a great selection of Belgian beers. The only downside was that they added 13% service charge to the bill and when I asked why this wasn't disclosed u front (I am used to tipping more than that at any rate), they showed me the smallest print on the bottom of the back of the menu. This left a rather bad taste to the dining experience and I did let the waiter know if they're adding this, they should mention it up front on the menu, not try to hide it, since this comes across as deceptive.

Can't comment on the food but the staff were really friendly, attentive. The beer selection is just unreal. You could easily spend a few days here just sampling everything whilst still being with it too remember what you liked. Really recommend this as a stop even just for a single beer

We visit the restaurant every 2 months and we are always very satisfied with the beers, food and the service as well. However this time when I wanted to pay, the waiter (with the beard) was very pushy he really wanted us to give tip on top of the service fee because somehow that doesn't matter. I'm fine with the 13% but pushing people to pay more gives a bad taste to a great experience. You should talk to him about that. I give 5 stars, but I'm sure I will not return again if he does that again.
