Motel On York

Motel on York gets a lot right the room was spotless, the location is perfect (super central and convenient for exploring Dunedin), and overall, it’s a solid choice for a short city stay. However, a couple of things brought the experience down a notch. The washer and dryer felt quite outdated, and when I asked for basic things like changing money for laundry or swapping out linens, the staff response felt a bit cold like I was asking for too much instead of a simple request. It’s a great place for a short stay thanks to how clean and central it is, but the lack of warmth in service might make longer visits feel a bit uncomfortable.

Checked in but put in room on the 3rd floor, if you have issues with stairs then avoid . Luckily my husband was able to carry our cases up the 4 sets of stairs . Room is average size . Clean & comfortable bed. The issue we had was NOISE . The room adjacent to ours was occupied by young men not sure if they were students as some of the rooms appear to be let out to them . All night long they were coming in & out banging the door & on their phone outside our room . Outside the motel you have students shouting & singing. I appreciate this isn't the fault of management but just be aware. We actually left a day early ..

Exceptionally clean and well appointed motel with a spacious bathroom. Conveniently located and a good value. We essentially were provided a small apartment with a kitchen and dining area for the price of a motel room. Would stay here again if in Dunedin.

The rooms are nice enough but quite small and starting to get a dated. The stairwell was a mess of leaves the entire time we were there..something like this should be attended to daily surely.

This was a good little place to stay, carpet a wee bit threadbare but everything else was fine. Parking can be problematic but the street next to the motel has carparks.

Great location handy to every thing you would need, walking or car. Comfortable rooms, helpfull friendly staff.

We were in Dunedin for the Pink concert. We booked nearly 12 months ahead and were fortunate to get in as everything was really busy. So glad we picked this motel, the location was perfect for us, walking distance to shops and restaurants, and close enough to walk back from the concert at Forsyth Barr (25 minutes a flat and easy walk). The units we had were lovely and clean and well maintained, warm and cosy on a chilly Dunedin day and had all that we needed for a great stay, the water filter tap was a nice extra and the shower was wonderful, great pressure! Our hosts were friendly and welcoming and check in and out was easy and smooth. Thank you for a lovely few days.
