We booked the room at the last minute. The rooms are nothing very fancy, but it was clean. The bathroom seemed like it had recently been remodeled. I was looking forward to taking a shower and relaxing for the night, but the water pressure was low.

Google
Rooms were mostly clean, shows some signs of age but was overall pretty clean, quiet, and comfortable. Clean towels, bedding, and complimentary toiler paper, tissues, soap bars, shampoo, and conditioner were provided.

Google
This motel has all the 2-star necessities including musty smoking smell, dirty moist carpet and actual hard keys plus triple-bite marks if you can believe it. The carpet is so filthy that we were leaving black footprints in the bathroom. Yuck. It was very expensive for the experience we received. You should stay somewhere cheaper or somewhere better, but don't stay here.

My daughter and I get only see each other for about a week each year as she lives in Florida and I live here in Oregon. The owner really put a damper on our trip. The room was dirty and a bright light shone in our window every night, so we had to put a blanket over the windows. We had no TV service for 3 out of the 6 nights we stayed there. The first night the owner came to fix the TV but it broke a 2nd time and when I asked if he could come and fix it again he just laughed at me.....SO RUDE! This room cost us $240 a night and for that we expected a working TV and proper working internet (as that was terrible too)! If it wasn't for Stephanie at the front desk (who was much better dealing with customers than the owner and someone that you could actually understand ) we wouldn't have had any TV at all (nothing they could do for lousy internet though). We will never stay at Motel West again and will tell out friends and family not to either.

Google
Place looked nice, stayed for 2 nights but there was one big problem. The room smelt bad. It smelt like dogs and cats pee’d on the carpet which was made the experience horrible. We left the windows open all night and there was still the bad odder of pee. I wouldn’t recommend this motel.

Came to ski mt bachelor for a few days . Hotel ~300yds (3 min walk) to mt bach shuttle, cet bus depot, grocery store, and a few quick food options. Was 10-15 min safe walk to downtown which was great. Room was good, clean, micro and frig and owners were very nice and responsive to next rm that for some reason ran the vacuum 1x/hr at night. For the price i would stay again if venture back to bend.

Some guests from the Show on May 31st are staying here, they said it's close to the Silver Moon Brewing and everything in Town, good price for bend. If you're in town May 31st join us at the Show. Ticket Special: buy a ticket at Bend Tickets and get a second at the door for $10 by mentioning Motel West

Jason Soubliere

Google
I've stayed here 3 or 4 times now when coming to Bend to ski at Mt Bachelor. I have a Ford Transit with a bed and heater but I opt to get a room here to hang and dry gear out after storm days. The couple that runs the place is very friendly and makes you feel at home. The rooms are clean and quiet and the heat cranks! Great value for the money and a 5-10 minute walk down to Silver Moon brewing for tasty beer and live music. Pro tip... if not skiing that day you can reserve a time slot for the hot soak pool at McMenamins Old St. Francis School. $10 for 1 hr but only from 10:30-4:30 for general public.

Yelp
Clean, comfy bed, friendly staff for half the cost of a brand name motel. Everything was as good or better than any Hilton property

Christy B.

Yelp
I don't know how this place received high reviews. During my short stay, I watched the police remove the body of a girl who overdosed. It's overrun with drug addicts and homeless camps nearby. The place is old, dirty, and the staff are rude. I couldn't wait to get out of there, left a day earlier than planned. Just no.

Yelp
Our room was clean, comfortable, and provided what we needed. Best parts of the stay were the shower/bathtub, the large television with access to Netflix, and having a microwave/mini-fridge. The heating and air conditioning worked well and the beds/pillows were cozy, also glad they provided a quilt over the comforter for extra warmth. Good experience for the price. Cons: not a great vibe upon entry, just doesn't feel safe; there was no place to work since the television was placed on the desk; and they don't salt icy walk ways when it snows.

Lunsford J.

Yelp
I'm sorry but this place is a dive. I have no idea how it has better ratings than it should. It stunk so bad I had to walk in the door and immediately leave to go out and buy Febreze then come back and spray it everywhere and I mean everywhere. Then I dared to take off my shoes and walk across the room a few times and looked down at my white socks and they were black!!!!!! So gross!!!!! And it was literally in skid row! I had to sleep with one ear and one eye open because of all the degenerates walking all around it. It's literally in the worst part of town! The only, and I mean the only good thing this place had going for it, was the refrigerator. And that folks was it! I recommend spending a few more bucks and having a better night's rest than I did.

Yelp
Older reviews report things like bedbugs and unfriendly management. I saw no trace of bedbugs and the front desk lady was very nice to me. And I tried her patience. I was very tired, working without sleep, and locked myself out of my room twice. I also had a billing snafu but it was my fault not theirs. They resolved it quickly and pleasantly. No prob there. Room was clean, very clean for an older hotel. Strong perfume odor when I entered which I found unpleasant but it went away after a few minutes. Fridge, microwave, coffee maker, all work and well scrubbed. Not the best bed that I've ever slept in but far from the worst. Bad neighborhood it's true. The semi permanent residents are a mix of kind friendliness and mild nuisance. There was a guy in a very noisy diesel truck outside my room coming out at intervals and starting it and sitting in it all night long. Sure could've lived without that. At the price you could do a lot worse. Lucy's is across the street and there's a nice café in the same block. I don't think I'll be coming back to Bend anytime soon. But I don't regret staying here.

Yelp
Not sure how this place has 3 stars. Maybe we got the worst room. Holes in the walls and by the outlets. Dirty. Just all bad. No refunds for nights already paid and not used even though their establishment is crap
google avatar

Yelp
The most repulsive hotel I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing. I seriously debated demanding a refund and leaving, but stayed to avoid the inconvenience. Ugliest, tackiest, tiniest room ever. Old, disgusting, dirty, stained, torn, mismatched yard sale furnishings. Bed 'tucked away' in a hole. Reeked of cigarettes which they attempt to cover up with excessive smelly air freshener. Disgusting sticky, stained carpet. No wifi password in room. Super-slow Internet. No closet. Shower head falling out wall. Shower had no shelf to put toiletries - guess the dirty floor's good enough to put your soap. Hair dryer missing. Outlets in bathroom didn't work. Baby spider crawling around bathroom kept me company. The 8.2 ratings claim is a lie. Proximity to downtown is good, but there are plenty of hotels in Bend. Stay away from this nauseating nightmare. It is truly disgusting.

Yelp
I booked my hotel via Booking. When I pulled into the parking lot I thought I overpaid. Then I walked into the lobby to check in and it felt so upscale. I was checked in really quickly and given the key to my room. I walked into my room and was blown away. The bed and couch and all the personal touches. The bathroom is amazing with all the details. A Fridge and Microwave plus Coffee maker. The bed is amazingly comfortable, like one of the best night sleeps in a hotel bed. If it had some water bottles that would be nice.

Yelp
When I visited Bend, I was on a low budget and was staying for several nights in a row. Motel West was appealing for two main reasons: price and location. I wasn't thrilled to be staying in a motel, but my visit was surprisingly quite pleasant. The office stays open late, so checking in after 10 p.m. was not an issue. The employee working was very friendly and just required some paperwork before handing me the key to my room. The key unlocks the door knob lock which locks automatically when you close the door, so don't accidentally lock yourself out of the room! There's also a deadbolt you can use to lock your door once you're on the inside. The room itself was decent, and the bathroom looked a lot more modern than I would have expected with nice tiling on the floor and in the shower. The couch and chairs in the room looked really disgusting with the stains, but it didn't really surprise me. Being in a motel with the parking lot directly outside your room, you can hear every time a car starts or when someone is outside talking. I brought ear plugs, but without them, I would have had a hard time sleeping between the noises from the people upstairs and the diesel trucks outside. It was nice being able to walk to downtown, only a 10-minute walk to Deschutes for beer! Overall, this was not a bad stay at all. My AC unit didn't work, but it wasn't a big deal since the room stayed cool naturally from being on the first floor.

Yelp
We pulled up and there were police there. Complete shock and disgust when we found drugs in the drawer!! Terrifying to think a family could've stayed in this room and a child could've found this!! The owner has been harrasing us since we left and refuses to take responsibility for the conditions we were subjected to.

Pam C.

Yelp
Management is awful. They gave away our room that was all ready paid for earlier this year. Very rude and would never recommend this motel. Bathroom heater needs to be checked out before you use it. Fire hazard. Management terrible to deal with regarding giving room away. Technically they broke Oregon law but seem to be able to get away with it. Not recommended to stay at this place.

Doug M.

Yelp
Disgusting!! The owner and her staff / family are dishonest, unscrupulous and rude. They made several large unauthorized charges on my credit card and first denied making them and then said it was their policy and were combative and unwilling to return the funds until I threatened to have the bank reverse them. What a nasty scam! The entire trash-ridden property stinks, is very noisy, and is surrounded by homeless encampments & crack heads. For your health & safety DO NOT STAY HERE!!

Yelp
Stayed at this spot on a few occasions and frankly I do not think I will return. This last time I found what could have been pubic hair in the sheets - as well as some dirt. Lookin under the sheet I found that the mattress of had a ton more dirt and grime on it as well as some blood stains and what looked like urine. I called down to the office to complain and request that these items be changed out and was put on hold for a few minutes then told I could come down and get new sheets. I inquired about why hey won't bring them up and look at he mess and no answer. I went down to the office and got the sheets - asking the manager for a mattress pad as well and asked that he come get the old dirty ones. He came up and got the sheets and mattress pad and apologize that the cleaning crew did not do the job they were supposed to do. The motel is also full of people but I think probably live there and set around smoking in front of the rooms, so you have cigarette butts all over in front of your door as well as ashes and the stench of cigarette smoke comes creeping in through the windows if you have them open.

Yelp
"Terrible" was not available as a choice. This was, of necessity, a long term stay for me, so I really got a feel for what things are like. If you enjoy things like frequent visits from law enforcement to the property in the middle of the night, with unknown problems in the parking area, or someone else's room, this place is for you. It happened too many times to count. One block away they just finished removing the largest urban homeless camp I'd ever seen. Hotel is mere feet away from the train tracks. This is NOT the best of Bend, or even close, especially at prices it absolutely does not merit. A guy appears to be living in his small trailer, right across the street. At least half of the occupants live here and while I mean no offense, some have had the same outfit on for at least 6 mo. They are not friendly. They won't likely attack you(!), but they also are very unlikely to say hi back to you. You may wonder why I stayed long term; in my case, I got a reasonable king room and for what I needed this winter, it was livable. Oh yeah, frequently, when you turn on the cold tap in the sink, you have to wait up to 2-3 minutes before non-scalding water finally comes out. Furthermore, new management (also they were here a year or 2 ago, apparently) are not friendly (A) and refused to honor the price I had been promised for summer and very rudely told me they just wouldn't. 3rd ST in Bend is the old highway though town and most/all of the lodgings on it were built a long, long time ago. MW, while changing a few carpets this year, has matted, stained, disgusting carpeting. The heater in the bathroom is broken (no matter rt now, but in the winter?!) I will wrap this up by saying, if you thought this was long, keep in mind that I could add several other detracting factors. Only real upside is Lucy's Tacos, across the st. For a few more dollars than they are trying to get, you could score a deal at a 4-star hotel, easily. I recommend you do that if you want to enjoy Bend In a decent place.

Yelp
Great price. Bed comfortable and room nice and big. The only things were that the neighbor seemed a bit sketchy. When walking up the stairs there was a hand written note saying smoking was allowed by the picnic table but not more than 20 feet away of a window ledge of a room was an ashtray with about 10 smoked cigarette. Our bathroom fan didn't work until right before checking out. We also got there late and there was no close parking to the room. Only about 3 spaces left to park.

Yelp
This motel had the BEST front desk service!!!. True hospitality! The rooms were clean and our room had 3 queen beds!!! Sink location was very practical outside the shower/toilet making getting ready for a wedding preparations easier. Very comfortable for our tall family of 5. Will definitely stay here again when visiting Bend family.

Yelp
No reviews?! Seriously? I ended up getting this place on hotels.com because it was 1) CHEAP and 2) AVAILABLE (I'll let you make the relationship jokes)...but I got SO MUCH MORE. This place has a kind staff, great location, clean rooms, and great prices. I'm not sure what more you could ask for really. This is now my go-to motel in Bend. We even had a view of the three sisters! (the mountains, creep.) Maybe no one else has reviewed it because they don't *want* people to know about it? Oops

Tami N.

Yelp
Love this place and the staff. Sure furnishing is outdated BUT it is CLEAN!!! Will be staying here again on my next trip to Montana.

Yelp
It's a hotel. The people are very abrupt and all about business. The room is utilitarian. This is the second time I stayed here, but I'll be honest; the second time was because I forgot that I had stayed here before. I literally went to two other hotels and found them booked before I finally settled here, because the noise, service, and style were so lacking. So the first time, I had about a one star stay. It was loud, obnoxious, dirty, and annoying. The second time I stayed, it was alright. The bed was comfortable enough, there wasn't a lot of noise...however, the room right next to mine left their door cracked the entire time. The cop in me says...something's not right there. But it all worked out in the end. I wouldn't stay here again, if I had the choice. But if I didn't have a choice...I guess it's okay.

Yelp
Great small simple motel. Newly renovated, clean and attractive. Great price, exactly as expected from Google. Very pleasant staff. Recommended great restaurant nextdoor. Room clean and very comfortable. Temperature control was a little unusual because of a combined system, but both worked perfectly, and all spaces stayed comfortable. The bath was SUPER. The bath tub was great for a shower or deep soaking bath. There was a grab-bar for entry/exit to the tub. The supplies in the room were lovely. There was a heat register that kept the bathroom comfortable. The sink, outside the bathroom, was stylish, attractive and fun. Altogether a comfortable stay! They also have a great relationship with Laughing Planet, in front of them, who credit the renovation of Motel West with renovating the neighborhood.

Yelp
Stayed one night while visiting friends. Older American roadside motel, this is part of the old Bend before the gentrification. The motel as i said is older but my room was comfortable and very clean. The bathroom was adequate and the bed comfortable. Good value and reasonably quiet for just off 20/97 and Greenwood. Near to the newer gentrified part of Bend. Just a brisk walk down Greenwood and you are in the midst of the boutiques, breweries and nice restaurants.

Kaylee S.

Yelp
This is the worst place I've stayed at. The rooms were dirty and the "managers" were so unprofessional about my sister coming and having a service dog. He immediately threatened to call the cops. He first said there's no animals, then when told we have a service dog then it changed to there's no guests allowed. And as this whole debacle was happening another guest came in and said they lost power. Will not be going here again.

Gary G.

Yelp
BED BUGS!!!!!!!!! I booked a room for my daughter and her boyfriend. They checked in during the afternoon and then came over for a family gathering. They returned to the motel in the evening. My daughter got into bed and was bitten 3 times within 10 minutes. The room also smelled of smoke. My daughter and boyfriend had to then sleep on my couch. She went back the next day and was only given a partial refund. She called later to demand a full refund from the manager who refused. AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!!
google avatar

Alex F.

Yelp
The best place for the buck! Our room was very nice. The staff is great! They welcomed us upon check in and had everything ready for us. Our room was clean and the bedding smelled and looked clean, even the comforter. We had a great time and will stay here every time we come to Bend.
google avatar

Curtis D.

Yelp
Nice motel for the price. Comfortable bed and pillows. Air conditioning is good, plenty of hot water for showers. Close to restaurants. Friendly staff .
google avatar

Dina K.

Yelp
Pros- Room is newly remodeled with nice touches in the bathroom. Price was right. Close to downtown Bend. Cons- The place looks terrible from the exterior and is in a questionable location. There were folks obviously making their home there that would sit and smoke outside, leave their doors open, and let their kids run around between rooms. The staff do not speak fluent English and also tried to overcharge me on the room until I showed them the online price on my phone and said I'd just book through Expedia if they weren't willing to honor that price in person. Bed and pillows were not very comfortable. We just needed a cheap place to crash for the night, so it worked out fine. However, if you are staying in Bend a few nights, I'd recommend you spend a little extra and go somewhere nicer.

Yelp
i was so nervous when motel 6 (down the road where i usually stay) was sold out, and had to get a backup local motel for my birthday trip to bend. even if you've researched yelp reviews it's always a giant mystery what you'll walk into??! my friend and i were pleasantly surprised with motel west! clean room, no weird smell, heat worked great, mini fridge, wifi, comfy bed, good water pressure in the shower. in other words all the basics were covered! we had a middle/lower-level room on a friday night and noise through walls was never an issue. this is a perfect, central downtown bend location. be sure to grab a "bees knees" latte at the looney bean, breakfast at chow or a beer&burger at 10 barrel during your stay. the newberry national volcanic monument is just a quick ~20min drive from this motel. so many points of interest there. i recommend starting with the trail of molten lava. very easy hike, huge mountain view payoffs on a clear day. the reason i didn't give motel west a full five stars is because check-in/out is a little shady... no ID was req'd and you're issued an actual KEY (not a digital card). also there is some seriously retro room decor and window drapes happening. FYI: the "hollywood theatrical stage" red and gold bedazzled curtains make for a most excellent "we're adults but let's play pretend like we're celebrities" photo shoot opportunity.
google avatar

Jessi K.

Yelp
Crooked people. Booked and paid online needing a last minute hotel. Paid in full through Hotels.com get to hotel to check in and they said that I needed to put a $200 deposit on top of what I already paid. And I may get it back in the morning. That is ridiculous, they were rude. If I could do a negative star I would
google avatar

Jess B.

Yelp
Our room was really great for the cheap price! We were a bit worried before check in but the room has everything that a standard hotel has and was very clean! The bed was comfy and the shower was nice and hot!
google avatar

Delta D.

Yelp
Our room was the size of a closet with the bed shoved into a small space and there was not even a point of having a decent TV in the room that you couldn't see from bed or anywhere. One of the chair tops was stained and gross and glasses were unclean and front desk folks not helpful. The bright outside light shined into room making it impossible to sleep. Little details to show the lack of care on managements' part such as stained chair, duct taped blinds, and mattress sheet that totally did not fit and came off of the mattress all night. What a joke. Made for a bad start to our trip.
google avatar

Fi M.

Yelp
You can't sell a hotel room with no cold water in the taps when it is the height of August. The response was abysmal, invited to BUY water. Thank god we don't have children with us. Took 15mins of running the tap (at midnight) plus rude/reluctant staff to get cold water. It was as though we were asking for champagne. Pay the extra money and avoid.

Jeff B.

Yelp
Checked in. Went in the room there were stains on the floor, dirty counter by the sink. Turned on the TV and it looked like a TV would if you had glaucoma. Tried to go to sleep, but there were people yelling and talking outside of my room up to 3AM. No hotel personnel to address this. I guess they want the guest themselves to go out and confront the people. Who knows how that would have gone down. Next morning I go to turn in my key. The guy and his mommy were there to give me a hard time because I brought 15lb dog into the room even though the description of the Motel was "dog friendly." My dog is extremely clean, quiet, and house-broken. I mentioned that I thought the motel was "pet friendly" and they said that they needed my credit card so they can charge me an additional $20 and that I was dishonest because I didn't mention that I had a dog. I told them that I was never asked if I had a pet and that if they told me up front I would have paid it or went to another motel. The dudes mommy was bitter, snide, and derisive. What a great experience! Told them they need to learn to ask people certain questions instead of angrily confronting them the next morning. Left a real bad impression with me.

Matt G.

Yelp
Room was very clean. New appliances. New bed, new pillows. It looks like the bathroom and sink had just been remodeled recently. Super happy with this spot, will definitely return. Much better than the motel 6 and other places I have tried in bend. More affordable as well!
google avatar

Derek T.

Yelp
Way to expensive. Clerk wasn't friendly. I had to fix the toilet myself...first because it was running then because it wouldn't flush. Don't recommend & wouldn't stay again. Go down to the cheaper& better Holiday Motel a short distance away

Shirley L.

Yelp
The worst experiences possible! A used syringe was left in the room. The floor had debris, hair on it even after they said they would vacuum. The walls and door was filthy. Asked for a different room. Denied. Asked for refund, was refused. Asked for cleaning supplies to clean it our self for safety. 10:00 at night is no time you wish to contend with this mess.
google avatar

Katie H.

Yelp
So glad I read the reviews and trusted all the many folks who said this motel was an unexpected gem -- don't let the initial pause you may experience when pulling in make you doubt your decision to stay here!! From the gracious front desk and their quick response to adjusting the AC for us while we were out, to the ceramic mugs and comfy beds, this was definitely the best bargain spot we stayed in our sojourn to the PNW
google avatar

Sam D.

Yelp
Horrible! Smells awful like mold/cigarette smoke. Bug crap on fixtures and walls. Doesn't appear to be very well cleaned at all. Won't stay here again!
google avatar

Melanie F.

Yelp
We were looking for a quick, clean place to stay and we found it. Check in was quick and easy. The room was small but had everything we needed. I have to say the bed was extremely comfortable. The room smelled like smoke slightly but they had plans to lay new carpet upon our check out. I would say, for a Motel, this is not a bad last minute place to stay. The bed was super comfy which is hard to come by.
google avatar

Anna J.

Yelp
Wow this place is great! It's tucked away on a side road and easy to pass. I'm certainly grateful I found this place tonight! I stay a lot in Bend on business and I think I like this place the best! The value is amazing. The price is definitely right and I love love love love love it here!

Yelp
I read Andrew H's review, and agree. This place is a fantastic deal. $75 (with tax) on a Sunday night in mid-July. Very quiet, cheap, clean, non-smoking. Got a top floor room, two queen beds Tons of space kitchenette with a little window full fridge little work table very large area for hanging clothes, storage nice barcalounger chair with ottoman It was very stuffy and smelled kinda gross when we walked in... opened the windows and cleared it out. Shower had a lot of water pressure, full size. Bathroom was a decent size, with a window. WIFI - when working, 4Mbps down and 1Mbps up. When I woke up it was offline and I had to work. I went to the office and did my work with an ethernet cable from the little desk in there - not the best situation, but it worked. 90min later they had it working again. Overall, I am a very picky person when it comes to travel. I like fancy B&B's and truely 4/5 star hotels with high-class service. I give this place 4 stars based on it's price/performance ratio. For one night, while traveling through, this place was more than I expected for the price.
google avatar

Robert F.

Yelp
It was a great hotel... I mean a couch, chair and a full size flat screen tv... You can't go wrong... I really enjoyed staying there... Very clean, in a good location close to everything
google avatar

Melanie F.

Yelp
My husband and I we to Bend for our first year anniversary and after researching and budgeting we chose this motel. I have to say we were extremely pleased with our room, especially for what we had paid . It was very spacious , clean and nicely decorated . The bed was super comfy and we even had a 46" inch tv. We will definitely stay here again if we come back to Bend!
google avatar

Jann S.

Yelp
This is a great little motel set on a side street so there is no traffic noise. Nice room with queen size bed, new and very comfortable. We love funky decor including a recliner. There is a great flat screen TV, small refrigerator, microwave and the all important coffee pot. They also have super WiFi.

Jeff Y.

Yelp
Great A/C, great location... close to the Platypus Pub (best pub in Bend). But hard to get any sleep here with active upstairs neighbors through the night. As someone mentioned, I think people live here. Get an upstairs room and you're good to go.
google avatar

Shanna K.

Yelp
Worst bed ever. People were slamming their car doors all night. The room was either freezing or roasting from the heater there was no middle ground.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
Clean but creepy. Nice staff. Don't stay here if you're a single female though. An abundance of leering men by themselves. No women or families. One guy kept coming out and staring at my wife while she entered her room (6 times). She was there on biz alone and felt very unsafe. It might have been an isolated incident.
google avatar

Paul S.

Yelp
I stayed here on a Sat night for 1 evening. $55 night for king bed in room that also had good sized fridg, microwave, good sizerd couch, ottoman, shower/bath and dining table. Better than average lighting, could be more. Very nice inside room, much better than exterior appearance. obviously recently remodeled very nicely. Good location just off main drags. Towels smelled good! Nice owners. Good wireless inside room. They gave me 30 minute check out extension, but said no to 60 min.
google avatar

Karen E.

Yelp
Nice inexpensive motel, recently updated and very clean. Helpful staff and good location.

Marlie K.

Yelp
Worst in the West Smelly room that flooded and became a health hazard. When asked for a new room they were full, asked for at least 1 night refund so I could go stay somewhere else and the Front desk laughed at me and said "it wasn't her fault" my whole room floor was soaked from leaking pipes. A floor that has never been shampooed stained all towels brown with mold smell. I promptly checked out in the morning and complained again how awful it was that I had to sleep in that and luckily none of my stuff was ruined. I would never stay in such a dump again! Very unsanitary
