Mother Goose Hotel

My wife and I stayed at Mother Goose for four nights in Room 103, directly above the restaurants mentioned previously. It is a fabulous little boutique hotel that feels more like staying in a stylish private Airbnb than a traditional hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend it to others. The location is brilliant, right in the centre, with a lovely street view of the Dom Tower and the lively square below. You are an easy walk from everything in town, including the train station, so there is really no need to fuss with buses unless you would like to. Restaurants, cafés, and shops are everywhere around you. The room itself has wonderful decor and an airy open-concept layout. We had a large soaking tub that was an absolute treat after long days of travel. The toilet is in its own separate room, which we appreciated. Storage is limited, but we simply used the windowsill for the bits that did not fit in the hanging space. I did see someone mention a lack of floor space for suitcases, but we had two full-size suitcases with plenty of room, so that felt like an odd complaint. If you are staying over a weekend, do expect some street noise. I am quite a light sleeper, so the provided earplugs were useful. My wife, on the other hand, could sleep through a brass band, so she heard nothing at all. Importantly, we heard no noise from any neighbouring rooms above or beside us, which made the stay feel even more peaceful. The staff were genuinely lovely, warm, friendly, and happy to help with anything we needed. All in all, we had a wonderful stay and would recommend Room 103 to anyone looking to stay in the heart of Utrecht.

Don’t book rooms on the 1th or 2nd floor in the weekends! Really nice hosts, but that they rent out room 202 on Friday and Saturday nights is crazy. In that room, you are right above a nightclub that goes on until early morning. The earplugs didn’t help as the bass was shaking the whole room. Me and my partner end up leaving for another place in the middle of the night. Also there was a blood stain in the bed.

I could not have been happier with our stay at the Mother Goose Hotel in Utrecht. A small, cozy boutique hotel located in the heart of the city. I loved the location - a ten minute walk to Centraal, beautiful canals are just a minute away, six minutes to Dom Tower, seventeen minutes to the museums - you can get anywhere from here on foot or bike. The hotel itself is small, but charming. It really gave the feel of having a small place of our own in Utrecht as opposed to staying at a hotel. The lobby is small, but quaint, and our room was simply beautiful. We had a medium-sized room on the Grey Goose Floor, and I couldn't have been happier. The bed was super comfortable, and noise was not an issue for us during our stay (on a weekend). The bathroom situation was a little different - the sink and shower stall were in a little alcove in the room, and the toilet was in a VERY small closet-like room. I was worried that the room would be steamy/humid when the shower was in use, but I was pleased to see that it did not occur. The A/C (always pleasant to find in this type of hotel in Europe) and TV worked perfectly. There is no dresser, and the wardrobe was very small, but it worked for our 2-night stay. There's no fridge in the room, but you can use one in the lobby. The elevator is small, but efficient and VERY appreciated. It wouldn't have been fun to lug luggage up those charming Dutch steps! I wish I had gotten the name of the staff who worked (August 23 & 24) - because they couldn't have been more professional, helpful, or polite, and really enhanced our stay. The place was spotless, not only would I go back, I plan to.

It’s OK. The room was a good size. When I travel alone, I like to book a double room. There was lift access, but still a few very steep steps to negotiate.The mattress was very hard! The location of this hotel is great, very central! Front desk staff very friendly. A walk to the station takes about 15 minutes. One warning: do NOT order breakfast. This hotel has a deal with a vegan Italian place for breakfast to be delivered. You pay over € 20,— and it is really not worth it! Actually it is quite bad……There are many places near the hotel where you can have breakfast.

Great location with friendly and knowledgeable staff. I arrived early so left my luggage and wandered around until my room was ready . Had a great breakfast at Vegitalian , would not hesitate to add on the breakfast package . Well-detailed rooms in a great area. Don’t hesitate to book, you won’t be disappointed.

We stayed at Mother Goose Hotel from July 19–22, 2025, in one of their Suites, and had a fantastic experience. The room was spacious, comfortable, and spotless—perfect for two adults and a toddler. We especially loved the view overlooking the square, and the large windows let in a lovely breeze while keeping any street noise out thanks to excellent insulation. The hotel provided a pack and play for our toddler, and the bathtub was a huge plus for bath time. Check-in and check-out were smooth and efficient, which made arrival and departure hassle-free. The location couldn’t be better—right in the heart of Utrecht, with everything within easy walking distance and a quick, simple trip to the central train station. While we didn’t use the hotel amenities, the staff stood out for their friendly, easy-going attitude and for being genuinely helpful with restaurant recommendations. Overall, we found the Mother Goose Hotel to be a great value for the money. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Utrecht, especially families looking for a spacious and comfortable place to stay.

Very convenient location, for shops, bars, sightseeing & station ( esp as a solo , mature, female visitor) |Great decor & attention to detail for a ‘ cozy’ room. |I was in Rm 101, over the side street , so no noise from the bars in the square but unfortunately loud filter fan from the restaurant clicked on/ off , very noticeable at night. Probably wouldn’t be such a noise on a higher floor. |Staff in reception were lovely & friendly.

My favourite hotel in Utrecht. Small but lovely rooms, well set up with good coffee and toiletries. In a great spot close to everything and very comfortable large beds.

Recently name dropped Mother Goose in a review then realized I haven't even given them the proper 5 stars they deserve. So allow me to do exactly that while taking a trip down memory lane: The year was 1906... Just kidding, it was three-four years ago and my wife (then fiancee) and I were traveling through the Netherlands to Germany (Cologne), then to Belgium (Bruges), and back to Amsterdam. Our first stop after Haarlem was Utrecht, a town I had long wanted to visit since seeing photos, and we decided to 'splurge' on a nicer hotel. Mother Goose. A 4 star hotel. But it really is so much more than that. The rooms are carefully designed, each different than the other, super boutique vibes, and in a central location. We stayed two nights in the upstairs 'black room.' Not the hugest room ever but still spacious, open layout, high ceilings, wooden beams painted black, comfy bed with dark sheets, and a modern sink/bathroom area. Plus good views of the city. The darkness of the room added a cooler, more cozy element that we really appreciated. Everything was done tastefully and in a stylish way. This was our favorite hotel stay ever, and has remained that even to this day. Can't wait to go back, stay in Mother Goose again, and explore the city some more (frites in hand, of course).

We stayed here two nights in June - and our experience was just fantastic. The staff there is extraordinarily friendly, service-oriented, and helpful. Check-in was a breeze (we did it online just before arriving). They had some cancellations, and so, upgraded us to a suite (room 303). The room itself was spacious, and well-appointed, clean and comfy. The little elevator is also fun - small, but with glass sides, and a view of the outside of the building as you rise. Breakfast is across the plaza at the little cafe. The location is very central - close to the lively scene along the canals, and to other sights in Utrecht. And, though our room looked out over the little plaza, it was very quiet in the evenings. This place is highly recommended!

This place deserves 5 stars for its beautiful and well thought design. The rooms/floors are designed by color theme (gray, brown, white, and black). This does not have the feel of a hotel at all - little details including swings, feather pens, rosary beads, bath salts, stand alone full length mirrors, and other thoughtful design elements are inspired and inspiring. I stayed in the Black Suite, which has a beautiful view of the tower. The main drawback to this hotel is that it is in the middle of a very noisy square that is filled with people at night, and from which the trash is collected for over an hour in an incredibly loud way each morning around 8am. If you want to sleep with the windows open, you are going to need some serious ear plugs. There were also only two bed pillows, and one decorative pillow in this two person room, so I had to request more, which they happily and rapidly brought. It is well located for wandering around the city, and has many restaurants and bars within a stones throw. I'd recommend to anyone who isn't a light sleeper - it is among the best designed boutique hotels I have visited around the world.
