My favorite bike shop of all of the cities I have lived! They have a great stock of items and can get anything you need. I have been happy with all of their recommendations. You can tell their staff is knowledgeable passionate about the sport. They always are quick to greet right when you walk in and gave me the same level of attention whether I was buying a chain or 2 turbo Levos. Shop did a great job diagnosing and repairing my YT also. The place is definitely a great bike shop to build a relationship with whether in the store or on their group rides. Highly recommend!

I couldn’t have been happier with my experience. My wife and I ordered bikes from the Sylvia location and they were delivered and built at the Asheville store. They were fast, responsive, knowledgeable, and professional. What a great bike shop!

Google
This shop is as good as they come. Came here to purchase my 89th bicycle in my 48yrs of cycling. I Would definitely recommend them to anyone who rides at any experience level.

Google
They give great sales follow-up service. We bought our bikes there almost 4 years ago and they’ve always been very professional, timely, caring and communicative about any problems we’ve had. I highly recommend this company. Great bikes too!

Google
BEST SERVICE!! Took my bike in today because the lever that operates the dropper post was super hard to press. Charlie fixed me right up while I waited and was super helpful explaining how it works and what he was doing. Also gave me some general bike cleaning tips.

Google
Lots if great bikes and friendly, knowledgeable sales staff! They also got my old mountain bike back on the trail!!

Yelp
Dropped in after my AXS system misfired at Bent Creek. I did not call ahead of time but they got me in right away and got me back on the gravel. Wish I could remember the name of the mechanic. He was very knowledgeable and very professional.

Yelp
My husband and I have Specialized Como e-bikes which we bought in Florida where we live in the winter. Motion Makers on Brevard Rd is our shop during the half year we live in Asheville. We get all our service work done there except what comes up that's unavoidable in the winter. Derek, their mechanic who always works on our bikes, is fantastic. He is very thorough plus does a complete write-up of what he's done which prints out on the receipt so we always have a written record and don't have to rely on our memories. We really appreciate having a bike mechanic we can trust. We won't be going anywhere else.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. Second time in a row. Pseudo-cool sales personnel makes you feel like they are doing you a favor for talking to you. Didn't even want to show me any bikes. "Oh they've been sold waiting for pickup". Really? Can't even pull one out to let me see what could be ordered? I'm taking my business somewhere else

Yelp
If I could give less stars I would! I called before hand to make sure someone could look at the bike I was told yes. I took the bike up there and was told the service people were too busy to look at it but if I would leave the bike there I could get a call when they figure out what needed to be done. Well I explained that we are driving through and just needed to know what was needed. Couldnt help! When I asked what was the closet bike shop was told that "I'm not gonna give you our competitions location"! So why waste my time and tell me to bring a bike up there??

Yelp
I've been mountain biking for 25 years and have bought a lot of bikes both online and in store. Simply put, buying from Motion Makers was better then any bike buying experience I've ever had by far. The new Stumpjumper caught my interest and though I try to shop local, the dealer in my town seemed unknowledgeable and a bit pushy. I drove 90 minutes to Charlotte and visited a shop that was full of "Cocky and too cool to be helpful shop bros" all to common in high volume shops. Finally, I decided to make the two hour trip to Asheville to check out Motion Makers and I'm so glad I did. I spoke with several members of their staff and found them all to be avid and accomplished Mountain Bikers, cyclists, and outdoor enthusiasts who are as passionate about sharing the love of the sport as they are about riding. They weren't pushy, yet were quick with advice clearly learned from years of riding. I know bikes, but these guys are mountain bike savants. They all seem to be gifted riders with miles of experience and are willing to share their knowledge in a friendly unpretentious manner. I bought a bike and unfortunately had some issues with shifting performance, the brakes, and wasn't pleased with the weight. Not anyone's fault, just turns out Sram NX isn't my cup of tea. In a gesture unheard of in the industry, Ben and the guys offered to allow me to exchange my bike after nearly 30 days for a model with different components and a lighter weight frame. They gave me full credit for my exchange, and did so with the same helpful and friendly customer service they had provided during my initial purchase. I can't recommend Motion Makers highly enough. Great guys, a clean well stocked shop, and some of my favorite bike brands. (Surly, Specialized, moots, Chromag just to name a few).

Yelp
My husband is an experienced mountain biker and this place was recommended when we were in town for bike rental. When he got to the shop right as they opened and inquired about rentals and found the rental rules are ridiculous - have to have a bike rack, can't take the front tire off and put it in the SUV, have to have your own helmet, um we flew in and rented a car and don't pack helmets. Then the guy told him to go to the Hub trailhead and they had bikes to rent - nothing like that anywhere near Asheville - thanks a lot jerk. And by the way, head down the road just a few blocks to Billy Goat bikes where they set him up with a bike AND helmet, were perfectly fine with us throwing it in the SUV and they were reasonable and had better bikes - don't waste your time at Motion Makers!!!

Yelp
These guys are awesome. I called and asked if I could do a contactless drop-off. The shop was able to accommodate my request and came out to get my bike from the back of my vehicle. They were able to repair my bike quickly and Cole called me as soon as it was done. I was also able to pay contactless as well. Everyone I talked to was accommodating, friendly and professional. I would highly recommend them.

Yelp
I traveled to Asheville on a biking trip this month and stopped in at Motion Makers to grab some maps and tips on local riding, something my husband and I do on every bike trip we take. It seems like every bike shop we visit on trips has the same bike shop snobbery (you know, pick something and be snobby about it....27.5 is waaaaaaay better than 29er, blah blah blah). That gets obnoxious cuz I just want to talk to someone who gets excited about bikes like I do! These guys were such a pleasant surprise!!! No snobbery to be found here. They were excited to talk about Asheville riding and helped us pick maps with the right routes and get set up with lights for parkway riding. Loved this shop and will defiantly stop thru again next time we are in Asheville!

Yelp
Brick and mortar bike shops are struggling. You would think that a walk in customer would be welcomed & acknowledged - not here. Recently purchased house in Asheville s and looking for new bike. Friday afternoon, a couple of employees hanging around and no one asked to assist me. If stores don't provide additional (any) service why would I choose them over online?

Yelp
I recently purchased a Specialized full suspension bike from MM. The sales person I dealt with, Tom offered excellent service beginning with my phone call to find out about brands and what model might be available for me. He spent about 20 minutes with me on the phone compared with very brief conversations offered by other stores in the area. Once we came in to complete the purchase he spent a lot of time making sure the bike was right for me, adjusting things I hadn't even thought of. Additionally, a year or two ago, one of the staff helped us get our bikes on our rack properly and gave us some old tubes to tie the tires even tho we didn't purchase anything that day. We didn't forget the kindness and put Motion Makers high on the list of stores to compare once we were ready to upgrade. Thanks, great service!

Yelp
Simply phenomenal service experience. I've been to many different shops for service and this was absolutely the best. They are down to earth and helpful. The turn around time was so speedy that I was back on the bike before the rain started again. The best part is that they even had a fantastic service deal going on so I saved over $100! Without a doubt they are my go-to shop.

Yelp
I bought a bike had it for a week and tried to return it. The staff were worse than used sales men, tried their best to give me the least amount of a refund if possible. In fact, they at first they told me they do not do refunds even though their own website stated they do within 30 days of purchase. Beware, these guys will act like your best friend at first but try to return and their true colors will come out.

Yelp
Bought my first new bike in 15 years here, guys were super helpful, didn't overbro me like most bike shops, and the deal maker for me was one year of adjustments. Guys are always nice, Sam in the bike shop is always smiling and they often have great gear on sale. I used to loathe bike shops, having angry mechanic types follow me around smelling like halitosis, grease and Brussels sprouts, mocking me for not realizing the entire world now rode a one by drivetrain. I'm a lifetime customer of Motion Makers and will certainly be bringing them all of my business from now on.

Yelp
Nice shop, lots of product, good location. My problem is from the moment I walked through the door employees shadowed me like I was there too shoplift everything in site. Odd feeling at first that morphed into being completely unpleasant. Was wearing lycra bike shorts, flip flops, a t-shirt with wallet in my hand - no pockets, where did they think I was gonna stash anything. When the first guy that was helping me (at least he was pleasant to talk to) stepped away someone else started in behind me, this guy never said a word, just followed & stared. Purchased just what I had to have and split. I've never felt so uncomfortable shopping in my life.

Yelp
Great shop. Very helpful. I'm in town from Florida and had an issue with one of my wheels. I dropped it off on a Friday just before they closed. They had me back in the bike the next day and ready to race on Sunday.

Yelp
This is a great bike shop. Really helpful staff that helps us out of a jam when we were traveling in Asheville. Kept us riding and allowed us to experience the Bent Creek Experimental Forest, which is about 15 minutes away. I would definitely go back to this shop for my biking needs if I lived in Asheville. Thanks again - you guys were great!

Yelp
These guys were amazing. We came in for something that they didn't have, but they figured out a way to help us and totally saved the day for our 5-year old nephew who was so excited about biking. Really nice folks, and reasonable prices. Thanks!

Yelp
The staff here is very knowledgeable and helped me find the perfect road bike for riding the parkway. They were able to narrow down my search and work with my budget. They have a great selection of bikes and accessories. I was referred here form a friend of mine and I'm happy I went.

Yelp
Was in Asheville, NC for a few days and got hooked up with an awesome rental for some awesome trail riding.

Yelp
I have worked in bike shops and been biking my whole life; but, for Asheville, am still looking for the best fit for me. At Motion Makers, I got nickle and dime'd on having to upgrade to more expensive, lighter equipment that wasn't needed but the work horse versions were not in stock. They also charged me $40 to true a tire but "only" $20 more to replace the broken spoke that I noticed as soon as I got home from the shop. Being at the Outlet Mall, guess that it is just an Outlet store for Specialized bikes. Just starting out, like Specialized and have deep pockets... this may be the shop for you. Get your work done elsewhere!
