Motor City Itaweon

These pies have all the visual hallmarks of Detroit pizza. The flavours are right and good, the edges have a properly fried, crispy cheese crust. But my issue is with the dough, it’s not high hydration, it’s far too thin for proper Detroit style and to be entirely honest, in parts it even felt dry akin to the kind of pizza you buy on frost in a supermarket. The analogy would be a ‘Neapolitan pizza’ in a deep dish. It just didn’t feel right and through every bite, I couldn’t distract from it. You can get Motor City pizzas in the freezer in Homeplus, and I suspect it’s the same stuff they sell in the restaurants as it didn’t feel like it was prepared on the premises. I came here with expectations high, having read the many positive reviews. They get points for even doing Detroit pizza in Korea, but then, why not do it properly?

Came back to the hotel late, and after a quick search for pizza, we had to try Mortor Citys Detroit style pizza. We live next to Detroit, so we needed to give it a try. The pizza was great, honestly a little less "greasy" than we are used to, which with real Detroit pizza adds to the overall flavor. But for a Asian twist (normally healthier than the American versions of the food), it was worth it. The staff originally told us there was an error in the kitchen with our order (after a short 10 min wait), so they gave us some free appetizers. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is nice with a view of the street below. Definitely give it a try if you're in the mood for something different

I recently visited this place and was impressed by the beautiful decor and ambiance. The food was definitely the highlight of the experience. I highly recommend trying the cheese pizza with maple syrup - it may sound like an unusual combination, but it was incredibly tasty! The fried mushrooms were also a standout dish, as were the fries. Keep in mind that the portions are generous, so you may want to share a pizza and some sides with your dining partner. Overall, I had a great time and would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a lovely setting.

Yes yes! This is fantastic Detroit style pizza with authentic toppings and it’s a great size also. One person can’t finish a single pizza and they also have a ton of sides such as fries and wings. Extensive drink menu as well. I love this place!!

We’ve been coming here since maybe 2017. This is Detroit style pizza, which isn’t going to be to everyone’s taste, but they do it well and it makes for a nice treat now and again. For people who complain about the crust being burnt, that’s not a shortcoming of the restaurant. It’s supposed to be like that. Purists will tell you the cheese should be Wisconsin brick, but it’s practically impossible to get outside the US and there are plenty of perfectly fine substitutions. As for toppings, they’ve got plenty of options. The Jackson 5 seems to be the most popular but it’s actually not our favorite — a little too much for me. I prefer one with more veg and less umami. If you want a starter, their buffalo wings are really good. They also have a small but decent selection of craft beers. We were happy with the service, as well. They were all friendly and the food came out quickly. It’s not a cheap place but it’s not outrageous.

If that's what you're looking for, you won't be disappointed. I took my family for an early lunch today right at their opening hours to avoid a long queue line (11:30AM), but I guess it's not really necessary as it doesn't seem to get as packed as I expected. I tried 3 of their pizzas: 1. Jackson 5: It's got somewhat of a Tex Mex spicy-sour kick to it. I enjoyed it. 2. Motown Supreme: Plenty of Meat with a dash of Red Peppers. The equivalent of what we, Koreans, would describe as a "combination" pizza 3. Extra Pepperoni: Self explainatory I would definitely recommend that you try either 1 or 2, as they are signature menus, AND they are pretty good- they provide a very unique taste. The pepperoni pizza wasn't bad, but nothing more than your average "pepperoni" pizza. For sides, we ordered a "Shrimp Pasta" and their "Crispy Mushrooms". It's great to see that they (seem to- not sure) knead their own pasta dough, but the pasta itself as a dish just tastes like your average 'family diner" pasta. Something the kids might like. Their Crispy mushrooms? For less than 10 dollars - sure why not? They'd be alright to chug down some beer with. Are they a must try? Nah.. Wasn't really impressed by either of the side dishes.. Their pizzas are great, but their sides can be skipped. You won't be missing out. The food was good. Not wonderful, but pretty good as long as you stick to their pizzas. Service was complete sh*t, to be honest. We spilled one of our drinks, the waiter just offered a stack of napkins and didn't even bother to ask to help clean up the floor. I literally had to have lunch sitting down on my own spilled drinks 🤣 Do you NOT have a mop in your premises??? The staff was unattentive and it's not like we dropped by on one of the busier hours. At max there were only 3 teams in 3 tables. I don't even want to imagine what this place is like at their busier hours. I could go on for days describing the unpleasantries but I think I've already made a point here. 😪 Food was good, but not good enough to have me want to come back and deal with the sh*t attitude of the staff there. Don't get me wrong, as I am not expecting to get treated like royalty at a pizza parlor. Just a very basic understanding of the word 'service' would have sufficed. I would consider ordering a pizza from this place if they ever considered offering delivery services. But I surely don't want to sit down there to dine ever again. Dear owner, unless you are going to consider delivery services, kindly consider training your staff (or maybe pay them better? Idk). There are plenty of good places in Itaewon, try harder to give folks a good reason to wanna come back again. Best pizza I’ve ever ate! Quick service. I believe no delivery is available, we never have luck. But it’s easy to make an order over phone and pick up. Great Beer choices.

Restaurant manager was very rude to my friend and l. We wanted to eat there and get take out, as well, but he wouldn't allow us to sit at a 4 top (there were many available tables). Where were we supposed to put the take out pizzas? Our laps? Anyway, the man was very impolite. No service mind at all. Very poor customer service. *DO NOT recommend*
