Motoretta Gelato

It was Bella Gelateria for a long time. I was curious how it is with a new brand. They offer tasting. I tried 1st, 2nd and 3rd one the guy says max is 2. I ordered 2 flavor regardless. The price is a bit higher than typical gelato. The pistachio flavor was good. Salted caramel was a bit too sweet for me.

I enjoyed my visit to Motoretta Gelato. It’s a small shop but has a few tables and high top chairs. The staff were friendly. There is a single stall toilet.

Absolutely delicious gelato! Quaint cute little shop, overall great first experience.

I decided to try their ice cream and you get to try 2 free flavors. I got hazelnut and it was creamy and delicious. The service was quick and friendly.

We went to Motoretta Gelato by Canada Place and tried three flavors, Madagascar vanilla, salted caramel and amarena cherry. Honestly this was some of the best ice cream I have had in a long time. It was rich, creamy and full of flavor. The vanilla was smooth, the salted caramel had that nice sweet and salty balance and the cherry was tangy and refreshing. We had the ice cream in the shop and then went for a walk along the pier which made the whole experience even better.

Open until 12am, which already makes this place dangerous—in the best way. Everything we tried was excellent, especially the affogato. The espresso shot was rich and well pulled, and the Madagascar vanilla gelato melted into it beautifully—smooth, balanced, and not overly sweet. Sorbet ranking (best to least favorite): 1. Lemon – one of the best lemon sorbets I’ve had anywhere 2. Lychee – rare to see and very refreshing 3. Mango – unfortunately a bit weak compared to the others The shop itself is very small, so seating can be tight. We came late on a cold January night and snagged the last seat—on a sunny day, I imagine it fills fast. I wouldn’t recommend coming with a large group if you want to sit, but I’d happily come back even if I had to stand.

I recently stopped in and had a delightful time. The gentleman working answered all of my questions, shared great information about the flavors and offered terrific recommendations. I had been exploring the neighborhood and this was a great place to take a break and have some delicious gelato. Even though it was cool outside, Motoretta was warm, welcoming, spacious, clean with nice windows to take in the sights. I had two scoops - Pistachio & Tiramisu - per the Gelato Concierge’s suggestion. Very nice touch with the wafer cookie and scooter art work. Thank you Motoretta! I’ll be back with friends.

Hmmmm, I remember coming to this specific location all the time but I cannot recall if they changed owners or re-branded? Is it now Korean owned? We were downtown so we thought we drop by. It’s been almost 3 years so many things have changed. The branding was on point but the ice cream was just so-so. Mainly a little too sweet. My kids have become ice cream connoisseurs so I will take their word for it. With all the competition now in the city, ice cream parlours really need to step up their game to stay competitive.

Cute gelato spot near waterfront, have been here multiple times and it's been pretty consistent. They don't let you taste flavors though which is sad cuz I wanted to try multiple :(

I've passed by this place a few times and it looked like a fairly cute spot. Finally got around to checking it out and loved it! They had good selection of dairy and dairy-free/vegan options plus a few drink options too which was amazing to see! A few seating spots inside and some tables outside I tried the dairy-free pistachio flavour and it was so good! I was quite surprised at how delicious it was.

Date of visit: July 22, 2025 I visited this gelato shop at least twice during my first visit to Vancouver about a decade ago and could not wait to return and relive the memories of that fantastic trip in the days long before the word "coronavirus" was in our collective vocabulary. Like many things, my memories were better than the new experience, though it may be because the location has changed hands. First, no shakes are available, only dishes or cones, which is disappointing as that is my preferred vehicle for enjoying gelato. In addition, there are large unfriendly signs advising that it's buyer beware when it comes to the gelato as there are no samples available in the summer. I probably should have taken these signs and headed over to one of Bella's locations, but again, the nostalgia pulled me in. Don't get me wrong my fior di latte was quite good (not as good as what I had in Bellagio, Italy, but that was also a shake, so...), and the staff was friendly and efficient, but it would have been nice to try a couple flavors before making a decision.

My husband and friends we were traveling with used to visit Vancouver on business a lot. This was a must for them when they visited, so we went a several times on our visit. I do not eat sweets a lot, but made an exception! I highly recommend the affogato. I had it with chocolate hazelnut ice cream. Yum. My husband had the Akbar Masti and the Stracciatella -both were awesome. Very close to our hotel and Canada Place. If you like good ice cream, don't miss a visit here.

Motoretta is the ultimate place for a great scoop of Italian gelato! Their pistachio is top notch, not too sweet, nutty, slightly chewy, it is totally worth the upcharge (I think $1.50?). Note - limited to 2 samples per person.

Cafe style ambiance. Really good gelato with a variety of classic flavors. Service was quick and was open on Boxing Day.

A great stop if you are in the fashion district in Vancouver. The prices are great and the Gelato is tasty! We couldn't decide on a flavor so we got 2. The tiramasu and vanilla both had unique tastes. They had some unique flavors there like black sesame, crema motoretta and akbar mashti. There are only a few seats inside, enough for 4 groups, but we chilled in there for 25 minutes and had a good time.

While visiting Vancouver, this is a great quick stop for a gelato or good coffee if you're in the area! They gave us samples with no rush nor pressure at all. Located in a convenient corner, walkable distance from convention center. Nice chill and friendly atmosphere.

A small little spot in downtown Vancouver which has creamy delicious gelato! They are open till midnight on weekends so a good spot for late night dessert cravings. They don't have a dine-in option but more of to go gelatos. I got their hazelnut, tiramisu and chocolate gelato. My favourite was their hazelnut, it basically was nutella in a cup!! The other two were also pretty good, the tiramisu actually tasted like dessert and the chocolate gelato was decadent. Only one thing, they don't let you taste flavours which is kind of a bummer because I wanted to try their other unique flavour but did not feel like taking the risk without actually trying it. Service was fast though! Would definitely recommend this place!

This occupies the OG Bella Gelateria spot from back in its prime days (before their family conflict saga and its aftermath). This place has updated the decor a bit. The gelato is a clear step down though, more muted flavours, texture a little off. I got 2 scoops: honey lavender and Akbar Mashti. both just ok. Service was friendly and quick. Prices are high (2 small scoops for over $9). Having been to Florence and trying many notable artisanal gelato places there, this place is a far cry. There is better gelato in town.

The flavors and consistency of the gelato is what makes this place a stand out. Black sesame and mango were our favorites. The black sesame flavor was spot on and not shy about the sesame flavor, which we loved. Mango tastes like you're biting into one. The yuzu citrus was a refreshing option too. They have a good amount of non-dairy options. At times, the line can be long, but the employees move with a sense of urgency. There are tables and chairs inside and outside. It's within walking distance of the harbor and a good place to walk to if staying at the hotels nearby.

Amazing gelato! I love their flavours here, they're unique and honestly all tasted great. The Almost Tiramisu was hands down my favourite gelato I've ever had. Service was very friendly and I appreciated how accommodating the worker was. A cute little space inside to eat and in a nice location!

The gelato was very good. I got the medium which was way too much. Get the smallest size. Pistachio was epic.

Motoretta Gelato just opened taking over the former flagship location of Bella Gelateria. In case you're wondering what happened to BG, do not worry. BG has 2 new locations downtown - see my reviews. Back to MG now - part of the Kitchen Table Group - has well established itself in a prime location tied in with the fabulous Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel. Offering a variety of Italian inspired gelato from Sicily, the flavours will rock your world. I was happy to find out that my favourite gelato maker, Salvatore from Passione Gelato (see my review) located at the Parq Casino, is at the helm of this new gelateria helping out. In a way he's come back home as he started right here at this location when it was BG. I tried my go to flavour - Amerena Cherry & a new flavour I'd not had before - Maple Walnut. WOW what a combo! Both flavours rocked my taste buds #yummylicious supreme! Yelpies grab your gelato & head over to the waterfront for spectacular views & a beautiful walk - the waterfront is breathtaking.

This place rocks and their gelato is as good as I've tasted in Italy! Try the special pistachio flavor from Sicily!

With the hot summer weather still going strong there is no better way to enjoy it than with a gelato from Motoretta. It is conveniently located right by the convention center - orginally the Bella Gelateria location. There was a line up when we arrived but it was quick and we up to order within 5 mins. For those who love mango you'll enjoy this flavour! The mango flavour was very bold and just about reminds me of a yummy mango pudding! Such a great way to cool down!

Checked out Motoretta over the weekend and had a great experience! The Gelato was extremely fresh and creamy! We have gotten the Tiramisu and Hazelnut which both hit the spot! Would recommend if you are in the area!

Great service very friendly atmosphere went there on Canada Day. The line was absolutely long, but it was totally worth it.

THE B E S T! Heavenly tasting! Idk how else to describe it! They also give you two free sampling options. Scoops are fare and large, I was feeling full after the two scoops and insanely happy ‍ Yummmmy Sorry I couldn't wait and I had some before taking the pics!

The gelato was good as well as the service. I would recommend getting it ina cup instead of a cone. The scoop is larger in the cup.

Very good Gelato. The staffs were very nice and patience with us as we try some flavors and decide which one to get.

I didn't really need the large size gelato, but after tasting the Amarena Cherry, I had to get the two scoop size so that I could also have my favourite Stracciatella (cream flavour without vanilla, with the perfect amount of chocolate chunks). Those two flavours go so perfectly together. I've researched these Italian cherries now - they are very tasty. There has not been a lineup the three times I have been here, but I went back after I finished my gelato to photograph the name of the cherries and there were several people in line.

R and I had our first date at this location of Bella Gelateria so wanted to try out Motoretta for old times sake since they took over. Unfortunately I have to say I missed the old Bella Gelateria. We got the black sesame gelato to try and although it wasn't bad, it just didn't live up to the same standards. Overall, not bad though!

Delicious gelato. Tasted fresh and made with quality ingredients. I'd love to come back.

Genuine gelato in downtown Vancouver! Highly recommend this for dessert or a snack! Flavors are authentic and delicious!!

The gelato is good and they have a variety of flavors. They change some of the flavors every now and then, so take a look if you are in the area and see what piques your fancy.

Dropped by here earlier in the season for some gelato after dinner. I chose the salted caramel, and wow! It was super packed with salted caramel flavour, really indulgent. Also tried a bite of my friend's tiramisu one and it was fantastic. Definitely coming back to try more if I'm in the neighbourhood.

Hard to find better gelato without going to Italy. Definitely worth a try. Convenient location too

The gelato here is so delicious. My favorite is the vegan Pistachio. It is a must try. You would never know it was vegan/non-dairy.

This gonna hurt a lot of people but it was a complete garbage. I got the pistachio and didnt expect to be that bad. It was just pure sugar. As much as i love sweet things, this wasnt it. It was a complete failure to be the most favourite flavour somehow. Try fixing the flavour of the pistachio because it really didnt fit well. I have tried good pistachio but this doesnt even pass the okay level.
