Moturoa / Rabbit Island

Beautiful long beach, lots of shells and drift wood. Has parking and toilet facilities. Good for swimming.

One of the best place and my fvt. Beautiful back length and breath. Much better than Tahunanui beach. Camp van can park. Toilets are there. Lot of place to cook , barbecue etc... such a pristine and amazing for family, couples and children. Can jump into water ..swim..pick the wood and make your home. Stay in your camp van...make barbecue... such an enjoyable. Buy and keep all your food stuffs as there is no shop.

Took our MTBs across on Ferry to Rabbit Island then back later same day. Very easy contour suitable for all ages. Distances are a bit on the long side vs a park re fitness so allow extra time if you have younger kids riding with you and bring water and snacks as there was no one selling food or drink at least not in early Spring

Barbecues were free of charge to use, but they weren't very good to cook off the food sticks to the hot plate and is very hard to clean. The place is nice for picnics and gatherings ,

We spent beautiful day on Rabbit Island. Toilets very close, BBQ set up everywhere, cheeky Weka around us whenever you pull your picnic basket out. Very shallow and safe for kids. Lot of shade too. Definitely worth is to go and spend a day there. We didn't do biking but looks like fun and great for beginners. One day we will come back! And if you are wind sport person bring your gear. We saw lots of them.

Large expance of sand and sea. Land side has shade and picnic tables. Changing shed with toilets. Lot of areas suitable for large groups. No overnight stays and comes one way system at beach. Popular and close.

Love this place, easy to park up , good views around the bay, lovely long walks along the beach, kids were sea swimming and it looked safe. Loads of space to find a quiet spot under all the trees
