Moulin de Vilgris

Anne-France and Alexis are wonderful hosts. The property and location and magical. We really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend enjoying dinner as well. Walking trail around the property was a big plus. Breakfast was very good.

If the location (not far from Rambouillet) is convenient for you, you cannot do better. The mill's owners have all the fine qualities that previous reviewers have attributed to them -- charm, friendliness and a genuine interest in guests' comfort. The landscaped grounds are particularly pleasant. Breakfast is fresh and local. And though the mill is a B&B it also functions as a sort of very small hotel, in that you can arrange to have dinner there (much more reasonably than at La Terrasses in Clairefontaine, although that fairly high-end restaurant is also worth a visit). To repeat: You can't do better, and it's a relative bargain to boot.

All around first class experience for anyone looking to relax, unwind, and enjoy the best hospitality from an awesome host. Great conversation with owners, fantastic homemade food, comfortable rooms, all while surrounded by a beautiful naturally landscaped property in the french countryside. Highly recommend!

This was our second visit - in two weeks! Quite as delightful as our first. There is plenty to do in the area and Paris is close enough for an outing. All the basics were top notch: bedding, linen, bathroom, layout, cleanliness. We greatly appreciated the tranquil surroundings and the beautiful garden after our excursions. But what exceeded every expectation was the food: almost everything was homemade and served by our charming hosts, Anne-France and Alex. Breakfasts consisted of a fruit compote, different every day, accompanied by yoghurt and jams, all homemade, as well as honey, croissants and pains au chocolat. The evening meals were a perfect balance of flavours starting with a light first course and followed by a truly delicious main course and dessert. The food is light, healthy and varied and much of the fruit and vegetables come from the garden.||With our engaging and interesting hosts as the cherry on the top, we will definitely be finding a reason to return and will be sending all our friends and family there.

We stayed here for one night and wish we could have stayed for longer. The owner is very helpful and charming and made a table reservation for us at a local restaurant for the same evening (and a very good recommendation it was too). Our room was right at the top of the house so quite warm during the heatwave of June/July 2019 but with the lovely windows wide open we were cool overnight. The room is beautifully designed with a great en-suite bathroom attached. All the little touches, such as shower gel, tea & coffee and fluffy towels were much appreciated. The beautiful garden is the perfect setting for relaxing early evening.||Breakfast is wonderful and comprises home made jams, fresh warm croissant, pains au chocolats, bread, local honey and yoghurts, more than enough to set you up for the day.||We would definitely recommend this chambre d'hote!

By coincidence we came across the wonderful Moulin de Vilgris Hotel and stayed one night on our way from Germany to Brittany. ||||On arrival we were greeted by the owner Alexis and he made us feel like we were dear relatives visiting. ||He prepared a light 3 course dinner for us which was delicious; likewise was the breakfast with homemade honey, yummy chocolate croissants and more delicacies. We enjoyed our meals in the wonderful huge garden which is a green oasis that makes you feel relaxed immediately. Our cosy room was modernly furnished with wooden floors and a brand new bathroom.||||According to our host there is a train station nearby and you can easily reach Versailles and Paris. In case you want to do some sightseeing and avoid the traffic jams in Paris.||||We enjoyed our stay very much and will come back !

This is the second time that we have stayed at the Moulin de Vilgris, just south of Paris as a stopover on our way south or west. It’s a very useful distance from Brussels and means that we get through the Paris conurbation and can start our real vacation on the first night. It’s a quintessential country cottage which has been recently modernised and set up as a bed and breakfast. The rooms are really comfortable (we stayed in the twin this time) with lovely views over the countryside. The breakfast includes local produce (cheese and honey) and the whole experience is a lovely way to start a holiday. I recommend dinner at the Terrasses de Clairefontaine, which is a 2-minute drive or 10-minute walk away.

Pretty old mill in beautiful location. Comfortable rooms with all necessities and private closed off parking. We spent just one night here on our way back from south of France but would consider this for a longer stay since such a short distance from Paris. Anne-France and Alexis are lovely hosts.
