The view was breathtaking! We can see the Mount Rinjani from the summit. Went there via the Edelweis Basecamp. For time and energy saving we can use ‘ojek’ (bike service) from basecamp for IDR 100K one way. The track to camp site was quite easy with only around 30 minutes to 1 hour from 1 point to another. The challenging part was the summit. The slope of the track is about 45 degrees all the way to the first peak point. But is all worth the view!

Mt Agung (the highest volcano in Bali) It’s quite a challenging trek! It starts at midnight and finishes by midday, taking around 12 hours, including short breaks. The Trek covers 15km and has an elevation gain of 1850 meters. Trek pretty rough, rocky, gravelly, and sandy. Need climbing and crawling involved. Hard part is going downhill it was very slippery, and I ended up slipping more times than I can count, At one point, I wished for a helicopter rescue 😂, which fun experience!!! It's payoff, surrounded by mesmerising views at the very top of the clouds!!!

Climbing Mount Agung in Bali — not once, but three times. has been one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. Catching the sunrise from the summit is truly unforgettable — a breathtaking reward after the challenging ascent. The way down might seem easier, but don’t be fooled! The loose and slippery terrain makes the descent just as time-consuming as the climb. It's totally worth every step You can see Mount Rinjani Lombok from top of Mount Agung

Hardest hike i have ever done. Be prepared for a 10h (or 12h) hike in total. The way up was hard but okay and the way down was just horribly difficult and hard on the knees. There was no sunrise and no view the whole way cause too cloudy but if you’re lucky then at least you’ll have a view

Beautiful hike. Quite technical for one third to the top with ropes which I enjoyed. Fantastic sunrise with view to the Rinjani. The climb down is also full of beauties, with the perfect triangle shadow of the Mount Agung. Very healing light for all!!

A beautiful sacred mountain in Bali. Please be respectful and engage a local guide, don't be stupid tourists who ruin the place like some who made it to local news for all the wrong reasons; you are not brave, you are not a hero, you are disrespectful morons who think your rules apply to everywhere and ruin good tourism. That's why we can't have nice things. This is a very respected site, locals do ceremonies here. We went with Gung Bawa and he was the best guide, not sure if he is still doing guiding because my climb was done several years ago. He was humble, not pushy, in fact, he would advice you the best thing to do against his business interest. He also surprised us with breakfast made on the peak when we reached there, he could do it while balancing everything on the steep area. Fresh breakfast on 3031 meters? The best! I have climbed a good amount of mountains with various difficulty and Mount Agung is not for the faint hearted. The normal climbing time is short, you can go after midnight and enjoy sunrise in the morning, unlike others that need multiple climbing days like Rinjani, but I won't compare it to Mount Batur, a more commercialized mountain in Bali because the terrain is different. Mount Agung is very steep especially near the peak, where it's flat rocky terrain so make sure you have good footing and keep your body near rock climbing style. We were almost crawling and my climbing buddy was not a fan of this terrain but I love it! Well, at least on the way up because I hate going down. You have to 'let go' of you can, otherwise it would be very strenuous and you would feel the pain days after. We met a group of locals on our way down and they were still pristine with their white ceremonial clothes. There were no other climbers but us, which was really nice. The surroundings was peaceful with breathtaking scenery especially on the peak.

View from the top is once in a life time. YOU DONT HAVE TO TAKE A GUIDE! The locals will tell you you’ll have to hike with a guide and pay for a ticket (100k pp)- it’s falls!! No guide needed, no ticket cabin. The lane is intuitive. Theres pretty much only one way up- and once the road splits it’s only for short cuts, so you’ll end up in the same place. Hike wise- difficult yet breathtaking. Only for experienced hikers, the way down is tiring and long. You go down the same way you climbed up. We are very fast hikers, took us 6 hours to climb including a one and a half hour break. If traveling alone- would recommend to bring a tea maker and quality snacks for a nice bonfire stop. We continued our journey up just in time to catch the sunrise, so we won’t wait for it on the top where it’s exposed and colder.

Fantastic hike to arguably the most beautiful sunrise on the island. Despite initial reluctance, we hired a guide and ended up grateful for the experienced companion who set the pace, managed breaks, and, not least, arranged a campfire pause just before the summit sunrise. Support the locals and hire a guide, as the trail is quite long and can be slippery, especially during the descent. Guides equipped with radios can provide assistance even without network reception!
