Just reopened recently after a long-term closure due to extensive renovations and other matters that impact on businesses. However,it is back with a vengeance. Relaxed atmosphere with some, if not thr best views in Brisbane, we'll you are on the top of a mountain! Decor is stylish, and modern with an excellent menu selection, and reasonably priced. We had the Summit Restaurant take on a Tapas style selection of taste bud tempting delights. Great selection of wines, and very friendly and professional staff, who were attentive to l if our needs. What I really enjoyed way that each dish was introduced and explained by each of the wait staff which just adds another level to the SUMMIT culinary dining experience . So if you're looking for that special place to take family, or friends, or a venue for a moment in time to remember then reach for the SUMMIT. Bookings are essential and parking is subject to visitors to the MT Cootha Lookout. Bon appetite!!

Magnificent view of Brisbane. Can see the whole city. Good on a nice day and you can see up to the ocean and bay. Parking can be a bit difficult on the more busy days. Worth the drive when you get up there.

This place is absolutely incredible. It’s a recreational spot where you can literally see the entire city of Brisbane, and you truly need a whole day to take in all its beauty. There’s a forested area with amazing weather and incredible plants. I highly recommend it. Honestly, until someone goes there themselves, they can’t believe how great it is.

Google
The best place I’ve ever been to. The kind of place that makes your heart happy just by looking at nature. We went there when it was raining, and it was so beautiful that we couldn’t stop admiring the greenery. I absolutely loved this place and would love to visit again.

Google
Amazing view of Brisbane, especially on a clear night when the city lights look incredible. It can get quite busy, but it’s totally worth it for the view. Great spot to just relax and take it all in.

Google
This place had few walking trials and lookouts to enjoy the brisbane city view. The trees on the other side can be trimmed a little to give atleast 270 degree view if not 360.

Visiting Mount Coot-tha was a really nice experience and an easy day out. The walk up to the summit was enjoyable and not too hard, especially since the path goes through the bush. Walking among the trees and hearing birds along the way made it feel calm and relaxing, and it didn’t feel rushed at all. Once I reached the top, the view was honestly amazing. You can see across Brisbane and out to the surrounding areas, and it’s the kind of view you could stand and look at for a long time. It felt worth the walk up, and it was a great spot to just stop and take everything in. After that, I went to the café near the summit, which was one of my favourite parts. The boysenberry ice cream was really good and perfect after the walk. Sitting there with an ice cream and enjoying the view made the whole visit feel complete. Overall, Mount Coot-tha is a great mix of an easy bush walk, a nice lookout, and a good café. It’s a relaxed place to visit and somewhere I’d definitely go back to again.

Yelp
We came here as part of a tour. It's not 5 stars because I think a trip to Brisbane would be fine without it, but I think that is probably a personal call. There are lots of unobtrusive signs giving you history of the city and lookout. So unobtrusive that you need to make an effort to find them all. On a Thursday morning in May it wasn't at all crowded and there was plenty of parking, and our van easily dropped us off at the entrance, making it very accessible. I don't remember going up any stairs. There's a gift shop and cafe to the side but you weren't obligated to go in them. I saw people hanging out with their dogs on a leash and I'd have loved to just stayed and relaxed up there with the view.

Yelp
The view from here is breathtaking. There is a small coffee shop and benches. It is a really good picnic place for families and friends.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to see downtown Brisbane. Go there in the afternoon when it's not that hot. You can see the horizon from the view point. Lots of peacocks running about. There is also the summit restaurant where you can have a meal with a view. Great place photo taking too.

Yelp
It's something you should probably do if you're in this area. The views are impressive, though the level of urban sprawl you're looking at is a tad depressing. There is a quick cafe and a fancy restaurant at the top of the mountain, and ample paved space with which to take your obligatory pictures. There are a few trails; notably this area is cut off from the botanic gardens by the giant quarry in between. The hiking I did wasn't particularly impressive in terms of the views, though you'll get a good workout as these are some steep paths. There is one bus route that goes up the mountain if you don't have a car.

Yelp
"You... *walked* up Mt Coot-tha?" my friend asked me over dinner the other night. "People don't walk up Mt Coot-tha. I drove it once and thought that was a long way!" Yep. I walked up it. And not through the nice hiking paths through the middle of the park with all of the water fountains along it. I picked a spot on the map, thought it would be cool to go visit, got off the train at Toowong and just started to walk... obeying signs directing me in places I could and could not walk-like on the freeway. Admittedly, I did have somewhat of a plan. My online maps told me there was a lookout and if I walked along the scenic route, I'd get there. So that's the path I took, a little bit farther up from the Planetarium. Halfway up a bus passed me. But I was already halfway... I couldn't take a bus NOW. I have no idea how long it took me, just that the last steep hill in the parking lot at the lookout nearly did me in. But I persevered and I made it. The view was gorgeous-stretching across the Brisbane skyline and over in to surrounding areas. Man, the lengths we'll go to for a good view. Or is it that all the hard work makes the view that much more enjoyable? I'm not sure. What I do know is this: a) The beer I had atop that mountain wouldn't have tasted nearly as good had I driven or taken the bus up. b) I rejoiced in the free wifi when I got up there. Gotta share the moment! c) What goes up must come down! While up there, I found a giant sign with a map with all of the hiking trails. I had more than enough water for the much easier walk back down. d) People DO walk up Mt Coot-tha. I met them on the paths!

Yelp
This was the first stop I made in Brisbane. As a tourist, it was perfect to see such a gorgeous view of the city and surrounding suburbs. Took the 471 bus from the city, about 20 minutes, and they run every hour. It's a pretty lookout, you can see all of the Brisbane beauty. I went on a Sunday, and it was pretty populated for a lookout. They also have a restaurant, cafe and souvenir shop, pretty convenient. Go on a sunny day, when the sky is clear so you take advantage of the view. Plus, it's free! Definitely worth the time to go up and see.

Yelp
I bring all my out of town guests to the Mt Coot-tha Lookout to see the panoramic views of Brisbane. If it's a clear day you can see out to Moreton Bay and Stradbroke Island. There's a cafe up there, a gift shop, a restaurant and an ice cream bar. I do love to enjoy an ice-cream while taking in the views. You can drive up to the Lookout but parking can be a bitch during peak times. So you might have to park a little way down the mouton and walk up. Or if you're feeling adventurous, I suggest parking down at the J C Slaughter Falls Picnic Area and walking up the Summit Track. A 3.8km journey up and back, which takes about 30 minutes up and 30 minutes down again. This way you avoid the parking struggle at the Lookout.

Yelp
I am a big fan of the only place in Brisbane i've been that has ever served me a perfect crispy skinned salmon for a main. This is the epitomy of romantic place to take your special someone, with views of the entire city of Brisbane, you can't get any better. There is a separate parking area if you drive a little bit more around the mountain so you are able to find a park usually even if the lookout parking is all full all the way down the mountain on busy nights. Booking is essential at this restaurant as it always gets busy. People get engaged here for goodness sake... I did! The prices are reasonable for a high end-ish restaurant and the service is good... professional and well, who pays attention to that stuff when you have a fantastic view... especially at night time. Brunch on Sundays from 8am too, always good if you've stayed on the mountain all night... does get cold so maybe rug up in winter. Take your date here now.

Yelp
It's a cliche, but every Brisbanite or visitor to the city should see the view from Mt Cootha at least once, and if you can bear the early start, I highly recommend getting up there for sunrise. Some friends and I decided one night that we'd wake up at some ungodly hour the next day and make the trip up there. It was, at least, Winter, so sunrise wasn't as early as what it could have been. There were some initial grumbles, but the view from the top quickly woke us up. It was a cloudy morning, but being on top of Mt Cootha meant being above the clouds. Watching the sun rise from beneath the cloudy blanket was breathtaking. There was even a Christian youth group there welcoming the sunrise with songs of praise. My friends and I descended the mountain feeling as if we'd had some kind of religious experience. Not a bad way to start the day, but be sure to schedule an afternoon nap!

Yelp
If you are staying in Brisbane or passing by, it's well worth a short detour up to Mt Coot-Tha for the stunning views. It's only a 20 minute drive from Brisbane's CBD, and it looked like there were also buses up to the summit. On our way up we saw a number of runners and cyclists, so if you fancy a challenge try out one of these more energetic options! The view from the top is truly amazing - the Brisbane high-rises look like a toy town from above, and you can see for miles, from the Brisbane River to the Pacific Ocean. We visited in the morning for breakfast, and the view at this time was simply beautiful. There is a cafe and a restaurant if you're looking for food with a view, or you can simply enjoy the panorama for free and take advantage of the free bathroom facilities, which were decent. Definitely worth a little trip outside of Brisbane to see this amazing view.

Yelp
There is not much to write for this one. The park is beautiful. The view of the city skyline and surrounding area is stunning at that height and the only downside to this beautiful peak is how touristy it gets and the slight let down of the quality of food at the cafe at the top. Luckily there is a public bus that runs to the top which is so handy and for those that cycle a lane entirely yours!

Yelp
Brisbane's Mt Coot-tha Lookout is iconic in this fine city. It is lovely to visit during all times of the day, we are talking dusk until dawn. The top of the mountain is equipped with a cafe, fine dining restaurant, a bar and souvenir shop. There are those coin binoculars that are reminiscent of childhood so that you can optimise your view of the city. I have spent many a summer evening eating delicious ice cream in cones with my husband while taking in the incredible view that surrounds. Going up there when you need time to clear your head, is almost entirely healing of your woes. Many cool evenings sitting with friends watching families bring their children up there for the first time. It is definitely the ultimate place to bring people visiting the city. But, possibly the most fun, being parked talking deeply by a friend when suspecting the people in the car in front of you are doing the deed.. Very fun. Another fantastic attribute of Mt Coot-tha look out is that you can spend nothing or spend hundreds of dollars and still have a great time, either way.

Yelp
Mount Coot-tha was the final stop during our trip to Brisbane. I'm really glad we went at the end of the trip as we were able to spot different places we had visited instead of only thinking it was a pretty view and lacking context. 4 stars.

Yelp
The Brisbane Lookout at Mt Coot-tha is a must-visit destination for any tourist or people who are new to the city. It is the spot where you get a great view of Brisbane city and river. As corny as it may sound- every time I come here, I am reminded how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful city. The Mt Coot-tha lookout offers great views anytime of the day but I suggest coming here just before sunset as that is when the view looks its best (the glare can get irritating if you come during the daytime when it is sunny). Although the place does get crowded, finding a nice spot to gaze at the city is not usually that hard. There are different ways to get to the look-out, you can either hike, drive or come on a bus as part of a your guide. So if you have any relatives visiting in the near future, make sure you include the Brisbane Lookout at Mt Coot-tha in your holiday plan.

Yelp
Beautiful spot near the city centre (10-15minutes by car or more less 20 minutes by 471 bus from CBD). Nice walk as well. Could be a nice bicycle ride downhill. Pretty nice coffee shop on the top of the mountain with gorgeous view. One of the must see things in Brisbane.

Yelp
Alrighty, listen up chaps. Whatever you do, don't take your date on a 'surprise adventure' when you live a good half hour from Mt Cootha. It's like I was trying to reenact a scene from Wolf Creek or something. As we traveled up the giant mountain, I had forgotten how desolated it looks from suburban Brisbane. Either way, just put your fellow travelers mind at ease that you are definitely not going to murder them and dump their body in the bush. If you ever want to see Brisbane high up then there's no better place. Check it out when you can, because the view can be absolutely brilliant, just make sure you don't managle an inconsiderate cyclist on your way there and back. Yes I know, cyclist are saving the planet and all that, but it's not great idea to become a martyr. If you're a photographer, you HAVE to do a sunrise / sunset. Do it today.

Yelp
As a teenager in Brisbane's western suburbs Mount Cootha was an important part of my social life. Too young to drink in pubs, we'd head up here for a hot chocolate, a deep and meaningful or two and, if you were lucky, a sneaky snog. I'm older, wiser and able to drink in pubs now, but I still hold a soft spot for this place. I'm sure teenagers are still huddled in the shadows at night time, but now I notice the families and groups of friends who come up for the view. The restaurant is passable but not spectacular, which is a shame as the view would make an amazing back drop for a fine dining experience (with day kiosk for families of course). If you have people visiting from out of town, or just want to enjoy the high places with a significant other, Mt Cootha is a great escape that's practically inner city.

Yelp
I went here with my family to celebrate my birthday last year; it was a fantastic night. We went for a special sunset menu they offer; you have to be there at a specific time (to coincide with sunset) which was a little early considering it was in winter, but hey, the family includes grandparents. By the time we ordered and received our food it was a perfectly respectable time to eat however, and during the wait we were able to enjoy the stunning view of the sun setting over the city. It's quite a large restaurant, and we were lucky enough to be seated in a separate little alcove thing which allowed us some privacy and had quite possibly the best view in the house. The food was absolutely delicious; everything from the bread we had to start through to the delicious dessert. I had a Turkish Delight Tart thing for dessert which was absolutely scrumptious, albeit a little sweet for me to handle eating the entire thing. Definitely a place to take someone you want to impress.

Yelp
We didn't check the cafe and restaurant there but just the view is totally awesome. If you are in the Brisbane area you are not allowed to miss this place. You'll find some space to park your car nearby and then just enjoy the view over Brisbane. You can even see the see from there. They also have a press-a-penny station there which was sadly out of order at that time. Would have been a nice souvenir. Oh, and there is no entrance fee to enjoy the view and car parking is free.

Yelp
Walks are great and the view is best on a clear night.

Yelp
I found the Mt Cootha lookout a good place to take visitors to Brisbane, especially if you have a few hours to a half a day to fill. There is a very nice panoramic view over Brisbane, and a nice cafe to sit at to grab a snack and conversation. The place is nicely landscaped, and there was enough parking for a weekday afternoon, although I felt like there wouldn't be enough parking on a busier day, like a busy weeknight or weekend. After stopping by the lookout and realizing it would be no more than an hour's visit, we decided to go to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary after, which is pretty close by (if you're driving, not sure about public transportation). If we were into hiking or a more substantial meal, I'm sure we could have stayed at the lookout for longer.

Jen L.

Yelp
If you want to impress friends or relatives from out of town, you must definitely take them here to wine and dine! I know I have and I always get the same overwhelmed reaction. They take in the views, ignore the prices on the menu and have a great time. To say they were impressed would be an understatement. This place should be included as a must dine destination for out-of-towners. It is the only restaurant of it's kind in Brisbane and offers views that stretch to the furthest points of Brisbane. The cuisine is predominantly modern Australian with international influences touched on each dish. The chefs do a brilliant job and the presentation is immaculate and if the tantalising aromas of the meals do not convince you, the taste will certainly demand an applause from you. Steak has always been my go-to meal for places like this. If you're spending up, then you might as well pick one of the most expensive selections off the menu. Coming here for dinner or even brunch/lunch will be one of the most memorable dining experiences any one would experience in Brisbane.

Michelle L.

Yelp
On one of my boyfriend and I's first dates, we drove to Mt Cootha with some Thai takeaway in the hopes for a romantic getaway. When we got there the parks were mostly taken, and hard to maneuver out of, but we managed to find a little hovel somewhere near the base of the lookout and trudge our way to the top. We must have come on a busy night (in hindsight I've realised it was still school holidays - BIG MISTAKE) because the railings overlooking the lookout were totally packed, as was the viewing tower at the very top. There were a lot of couples holding hands and sharing a private moment, but there was way more kids screaming and running around while their parents tried to get a handle of them. It was still a lovely date because you can't fault that beautiful view, but I'd recommend coming here as a family outing over a private place to make out. A lot of groups had the right idea and brought picnic blankets and coats to rest on on one of the grassy, hillier parts of the lookout.

LK O.

Yelp
Highest point in Brisbane with a beautiful view of the city and a cool spot for lunch during the summer months. Or be sure to plan your day with a picnic lunch and the many hiking trails cutting through the eucalyptus forest. The Powerful Owl trail is a nice workout starting at Silky Oak Picnic Area.

Yelp
Wheel of Brisbane, Suncorp Stadium, Kurilpa Bridge, glimpses of the airport, Toowong Cemetery. From atop of Mt Coot-ha at the viewing deck of the look out you can point out some of our cities most well known landmarks from this birds eye view of Brisbane proper. There's not a great deal more to be said that differs from other reviewers ode to this well-worn tourist attraction. Stay for a short time or a long time - maybe have lunch at Summit - I read they have a $35 for two-course lunch deal at the moment. A steal with views like this!

Jo A.

Yelp
we did a night bus tour to this lovely spot. A must see both day and night, day time you see everything Brisbane has to offer and at night it looks like millions of twinkling stars over Brisbane. There is also Summit Restaurant where i had a lovely chicken burger and salad.

Yelp
After the perfect perspective on Brisbane? Looking to showboat our sensational River City to family and friends? Or how about just getting a feel for the fabulous place in which you live? Well, if you've answered "yes" to any of the previous questions, then join me at the place that delivers absolute perfection to your desire and it's at Brisbane Lookout at Mt Coot-tha. This lofty platform is the ideal spot to take in the sensational views of Brisbane that stretch down and across the Central Business District and out toward the Stradbroke Islands, north to Moreton Island and south to the Gold Coast hinterland. On a clear day you can even see the planes land and take off at Brisbane airport which is a good 25km away and it doesn't stop there. The Brisbane river in all its glory can be seen snaking its way through the city, with ferries crossing from one side to the other and some of the massive and opulent homes that are built on the riverbank. Be sure and bring your camera because the pictures are definitely worth framing, and if such escapades work up an appetite you'll find plenty of light tucker to tantalise your taste-buds at the Kuta Cafe. You'll never look at Brisbane the same way again!

Yelp
What a great opportunity to 360 view the Brisbane vicinity! It was not only a nice view from the top mount, but an excellent set of trails to follow below in manifold directions! We really enjoyed walking through and actually followed the reservoir trail which was a tough downward walk/gallop/slow run.It was quite beautiful and worth your time whether you are a visitor or a local!

Yelp
I couldn't agree more, take a picnic and make your way up there after work, the view is incredible and watching the city lights come on is not to be missed. Perfect way to spend an evening.
