Mount Halimun Salak National Park

We decided to go there twice in row. Since there's many beautiful options have to visit. Several waterfalls and pine forest was beautiful

Great Place for camp, clean air, fresh water, great view. Perfect place for 4-wheel drive but is too hard to get by sedan vehicle

It is a very reclusive national park, about 5 hours extremely bumpy ride from Bogor or 7 hours from Jakarta airport. Despite its inaccessibility, there are great forest and diverse wildlife. Great chance to spot the endangered silvery Javan gibbon and also Javan surilis and Lutung. Also spotted civets during our spotlight session. However, birdlife are a bit difficult to see despite its diversity. Recommend to stay for longer period of if you have target species to see. Regrettably we only had 2 days so didn’t manage to find our target species. There is also a canopy walk built for bird watching. You can either stay in the Cikaniki research station or nearby village homestay. Between the research station and village is the Nirmala tea plantation, where it is easier to see kingfishers and eagles. Mobile reception is minimal to non-existent.

Very natural vibes here, many waterfalls awaiting you inside the national park. The entrance price is cheap, 100k rupiah per person is enough to get yourself a good relaxing time, 50k rupiah will be enough but it will be strict to what you can get in here. The road is a bit bumpy, low ground clearance cars are not recommended here buy it the driver's good enough you may leave the place without a single dent. Be careful when it's raining season because many roads to the waterfalls are slippery because of rocks. By the way the second picture is the Lembah Tepus if you ever looked for it because the place isn't available on Google Maps

Mount Halimun Salak National Park is a 400 km2 conservation area in the Indonesianprovince of West Java on the island of Java. Established in 1992, the park comprises two mountains, Mount Salak and Mount Halimunwith an 11-kilometer forest corridor.[2][3] It is located near the better known Mount Gede Pangrango National Park, but the national park should be accessed from Sukabumi, 2 hours drive to the administration post and then 2 hours drive (30 kilometers) again to Cikaniki post gate.

I spent 6 months here conducting research in 1992 just as it was turning into a national park. The people are amazing and the scenery just breathtaking. Make the effort to get there you won't regret it.
