Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy

MKWC is a solid place for a chilled wildlife experience. Seeing giraffes, llamas, mountain bongos, ostriches and Egyptian ducks roaming freely around the grounds is such a vibe as you can feed the animals as well. They also have lions, cheetahs, buffaloes, warthogs ,hyenas etc in enclosures, all well kept and easy to view. The environment is clean, quiet and perfect for a relaxed day out with friends or family. Entrance is Kshs 1000 per person and on a good day you can even spot Mount Kenya in the distance.

We got a very informed and friendly guide to take us round..we got to see the endangered Mountain Bongo, lions, a leopard, hyenas, Llamas and a host of other common animals rescued from the communities. I expected to see a wider variety of animals 🤔..

The place isn’t packed with a lot of animals but it does give you a chance to see some of the big cats up and close. Just note, It is not ideal to go here during the rainy season. We were not able to see all the animals and most of the animals tend to hide from the rain. Also you will definitely get rained on.

It's a nice orphanage for a quick visit to unwind, it is not a big orphanage. You can easily go round in about 45minutes. You pay 1,000/- then walk into the orphanage, however, I was not assigned a tour guide. You don't have to do any booking just walk in pay and do your tour. The animals are friendly, they must have gotten used to human beings you can easily pet the Girraffe and the Llama.

The conservancy is amazing, you get to interact freely with animals and feed some.The cost for citizens is ksh1000 and 500 for children.The guides do an amazing job taking you through.

Quite a beautiful place with a million and one sights and sounds. You basically enjoy all the animals present and the guides are very knowledgeable. The animals are rescued from different places and their histories are inspiring to listen to. Please make sure you visit this place. It's a definite recommendation for anyone in Nanyuki
