Mount Kerinci

I feel so blessed to be able to climb the mountain - with breathtaking views, landscpe, flora and fauna. I did in 1 night and 2 days but saw many people do in 3 daya as well depending on your condition. I started in Padang, driving 7 hours, staying one night at a hotel in the Kerinci village,next morning after breakfast, started hiking - 7-8 hours ascending till shelter 3 where camped. Following day at 4:30 started the summit hiking - totally different terrain than the below: volcano rocks and no trees. Mount Kerinci is for someone love challenging adventure.

The highest volcano of Indonesia standing tall at 3805m. The trail offers a very challenging trek. For those experienced climbers who have previously hiked volcanic terrain would find much easier on the summit day from Shelter 3 to summit. The most challenging part of the trek is from Shelter2 to Shelter3 scrambling through the ravines and your might end up grabbing roots to climb up during this stretch. Overall the summit offers a very nice view overlooking the villages surrounding the volcano

Hard to Very hard climb but 100% worth it Slight chance of hypothermia at the top sheila camping over night! make sure you pack warm clothes! hate gloves etc Stunning sunrise! Slightly overpriced in my opinion

Standing firmly at 3.805 meters above the sea level, this is the highest volcano mountain in Indonesia and said to be more active then other volcanoes in the country. It takes days to reach the summit by conquering thick jungle and muddy plus slippery terrains. So, as the scenery is so green and beautiful, and before having a chance to climb it, having some selfie pictures may be a good options for us.

Mount Kerinci is 3805 metre above sea level and is active volcano in Sumatra island of Indonesia. It is surrounded by the lush topical rainforest of Kerinci Seblat National Park. Last eruption was in 2013 and in 2009 it spewed black smoke up to 600 m (1,969 ft). Be prepared to get irrated by sulfur fumes coming out of the crater when you at the summit. It is adviseable not to stay too long at the summit. Overnight hiking up to the summit from shelter 3 basecamp required warmclothing and headlight. Pacing yourself to avoid AMS as the climb can be very steep.

The view of the crater from the top is incredible. It took me about 9 hours for a day hike independently (5:30am start). Many people say it's not possible in one day, but if you're fast it definitely is. A lot of mud on the jungle part of trail, quite slippery. Unfortunately a ton of trash at all the campsites. It gets really cold up there if the weather is bad, only 1 or 2 degrees with the wind chill, be prepared!

Indonesia's highest volcano, lots of great view along the trek. The view from the top is amazing. The forest is dense and you can encounter different kind of animal along the trek. Lodge and transport is easy to find.
