Jamu: The growing popularity of Indonesia's herbal medicine - SilverKris

"A sacred, dormant volcanic massif whose fertile, compost-enriched soils support hundreds of medicinal plant species and a landscape dotted with ancient temples, rice terraces and village life. The mountain’s cultural and ecological richness has long underpinned local healing traditions, providing the flora and spiritual context central to centuries-old practices of herbal medicine and ritual." - Lynn Gail

Mount Penanggungan is a mountain that can be climbed through several routes, one of which I did yesterday via Tamiajeng, to get to the registration post you can use a car or motorbike, to climb this mountain you need to pay a "simaksi" of 15 thousand rupiah, and can be done anytime either online or offline, this place is very good for beginner climbers to train their mentality, the routes taken also vary, some are very difficult and some are quite easy, I highly recommend this mountain for beginner climbers who want to hone their mentality and physicality, with very beautiful scenery. to climb this mountain yesterday I spent 6 hours to the top and 6 hours to get back down, because it was taken through a path that had just been rained on, very slippery with a path that had lots of rocks and soil, if you want to go to this mountain I suggest wearing mountain shoes so that it is not too slippery, bring at least 1.5L of drinking water and bring a raincoat just in case it rains

Beautiful scenery during sunrise. Challenging track that need strength and agility. Good panoramic night view on camp site. Need to bring trekking pole for better balance and good camera for taking photos.

#TeamDemit Not my first time to visit and hike this mountain. So, after a long time ago, last week I decided to "Tektok" hike Mount. Penanggungan from Tamiajeng and get down passed to Kedung Udi. The landscape was stunning. Here I'm! Blue Sky Cotton Candy And Bright Sky! Thank You Mother of Nature. -Mbak Jumper-

I woke at 2am to go there, at first it was easy and after a bit I saw the top and it seemed close little did I know it was much further away than I thought. After the first half it was getting a bit harder but but still easy, about the difficulty of batur. It was still in the forest biome. Then after the 4th pos you enter the sand & rock biome. The last part is very hard. There is slippery sand and going down was even harder, if you fall you're almost garenteed to hurt yourself on the rock strategecly placed to be annoying. At least after reaching the top your grated with a lot of wind... And a good view (pictures below) and hopefully you brought some warm clothes. Sadly I didn't make it in time for the sunrise. The guide was good but didn't speak English to well.

1700 meters above sea level but the struggle is real. My second hike after Ranu Kumbolo is this Mount. Very steep, full of sand and dust. But the view is very worth. Arjuna and Welirang are in front of your eyes

I went to this mountain 2 years ago and for some reason climbing this mountain has become one of my favorite hikes. Even though this mountain is relatively short, the view offered does not disappoint. moreover, I can see the view of the city light coupled with the beauty of Mount Arjuno and Mount Welirang from here. There are many paths to the top but I recommend using the Tamiajeng route. This route has 4 posts where in posts 1 and 2 have a small grocery store that sells hiking logistics. besides that, in the entrance area there are also facilities in the form of public toilets and outbound areas. to enter this mountainous area, I only need to pay 10,000 rupiah, very affordable for these mountains which are open 24 hours. And, almost forgot, in the camping area called "Puncak Bayangan" there are also traders selling cilok, but I don't know the price. I just remember that I've seen it before. overall, I highly recommend this mountain to you!

This place is wonderfull than I thought. For motorcycle parking & entrance hiking here you pay only Rp 10.000 each. You must bring 3 liter water at least to hiking from the start at basecamp Tamiajeng - Puncak Bayangan. I left at 10:30 a.m from basecamp and arrive at Puncak Bayangan 13:45 p.m or 3.5 hours hiking trip. The hiking track it self is very tought than I predict before, even quite heavy compared to the hiking trail on Mount Burangrang via Legok Haji. The view it self I was very amaze with Mt. Arjuna at south and Mt. Merapi at East direction. My position in the photo here, it's in the Puncak Bayangan.

steep and cool looking mountain that "smokes" all year round. Often "climbed" up to the top on a nice sunny day and it normally took me about 10 minutes:). Have a look at my pictures of the mountain top and enjoy a view that you will probably not get to see soon.
