Mount Royal Hotel

Great location right smack in the middle of town! Convenient. Building inside and out is very kept. The Christmas vibe was alive and beautiful in the front desk area. Staff was extremely polite. Nespresso machines in room. Additional coffee always available on level 2 and is good quality for all the coffee people out there. Starbucks is across the street which made me happy! Bed was comfy however our particular room (435) needs a new mattress. It was extremely caved in. Thankfully we had 2 queens that we could sleep in and woke up rested everyday so not too bad really. We had amazing views so be sure to get a room that faces the townside. I've seen other complaints about sound however we did not hear anything at all. It was pretty quiet and relaxing. Overall, I'd stay again (and will be) and would recommend.

We had a very good weeklong stay at Mount Royal Hotel. The location is excellent: right on Banff Avenue, with ski shuttles and the Calgary airport shuttle stopping behind the hotel, so a car isn’t needed. The hotel was clean, generally very quiet, and comfortable. The lobby has charm, though it’s quite small. Service was mostly very good, especially one receptionist who was extremely helpful with local ski waxing recommendations and follow-up. A few drawbacks: the complimentary coffee station was only available until 11 am, we noticed some bathroom noise at night likely from heating pipes during colder weather, and housekeeping was somewhat unreliable. One front desk interaction also felt less guest-focused. Overall, a solid stay in an unbeatable location, just short of a full 5 stars.

Lovely hotel in the most beautiful location! Right in the heart of the Rocky Mountains and walking distance to some wonderful trails with scenic views.|Shops, bars snd restaurants are on your doorstep. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.|Only reason I didn’t give a 5* rating was because the cleaner didn’t make the beds and clean the room properly. Also the mirror was in an awkward position on the side of the wardrobe with hardly any space between the mirror and wall.

The rooms are clean and comfortable, the location is walking distance to everything and the staff are friendly and accommodating. We also chose the MRH because they have an outdoor hot tub on the 4th floor. It is great, especially in winter. Upon check in, we learned it was closed due to a malfunction. We were definitely disappointed but front desk staff offered us a free hot breakfast in the restaurant. Great service. We’ll be back. (And hopefully the hot tub will be fixed.)

Such a perfect place to stay! I was on a solo trip to Banff and this hotel made me feel so safe and comfortable. A huge shoutout to all the kind front desk staff who went above and beyond in terms of the service! I would definitely recommend this one to everyone♥️

This place is phenomenal! I recently stayed at Mount Royal Hotel, and it was such a wonderful place to stay, all around! The rooms were cozy, and pretty aesthetically pleasing. I loved the big window as well, you could look down at the street, or up to a beautiful view of the mountains. My experience with the staff was great as well, they were all very kind and helpful. I love how clean everything is, and the bathrooms were gorgeous and everything was laid out efficiently. Bonus points for a comfortable bed, the mini library and 'museum' on the second floor, as well as the splendid hot tubs on the rooftop by the lounge. The views from the hot tubs are incredible, and it creates an especially gorgeous and captivating atmosphere if you go in the evening or at night. Additionally to all of this, what makes this hotel so brilliant is its convenient location, as it is located right on Main Street, downtown. This added an extra positive for us, since we spent quite a bit of our stay in Banff in the downtown or shops near our hotel, and could easily come back and drop stuff off or take a break. It's also better for the environment, as the shorter walking distance decreases the desire or need to travel by vehicle, increases people walking and decreases using cars or other vehicles running on gas, and keeps the air cleaner and helps the National Park thrive. It's also extremely difficult to find parking in Banff, so it was exceptionally beneficial to park our car in the parking lot and walk most places. There are also public transit options available in the Banff area. All around, this was a truly exceptional hotel! Would recommend!

Everything about this hotel was great and the staff at the desk were amazing. From check in to the daily chats about the area and the check out process. We were originally booked for only 2 nights but extended our stay another night we were enjoying it so much. Big thank you to the staff!!

The Mount Royal is in a prime location in Banff with free parking. (Not to be taken for granted).||We had a problem with the first room we were allocated but the hotel staff were brilliant with resolving the issue quickly which was greatly appreciated. The rooms are big enough for a few days (we stayed two nights), they are comfortable, have great showers and toiletries, quiet and my wife informed me that the robes are amazing. You can buy one if you have space in your bags. There were usb ports in the room we had for charging and tea/coffee making.||We did not use the restaurant as we wanted to see what Banff had to offer.||If I was to return to Banff, would I stay here again, absolutely.
