Great sunrise trek, we decided to take a guide to help support local business. I would recommend to ask what summit you might want to do as different price for different location. We would have lovely to go to the summit. However still a stunning sunrise and beautiful views.

Very special place, I went here for the sunrise. But watch out, if you don’t want hundreds of people don’t go during the weekend. Other than that, you can see the active volcano on its full beauty, sulfurous, very beautiful Mountain shapes, and viewpoints.

I climbed this volcano in 2001. It was my first hike in Indonesia. I still remember the lush green jungle, sulfurous smell of hot steam. Dreamy volcanic landscape. And hot springs on the other side of the mountain.

Really chill hike and super beginner friendly. The trail is not too steep and pretty easy to follow. Along the way you can see an active volcano still releasing sulfur gas which is awesome to witness up close. The view from the top is beautiful. You can even spot Mount Sinabung in the distance. Make sure to bring light with you as the hike usually starts early in the morning. I start my hike at 4:30am and arrived roughly at 6 am. If you're into camping you can also set up a tent and stay overnight on the mountain. Totally worth the experience.

The volcano and hike up to it were very nice but we tried to go to the hot springs directly from the crater. There was a path marked on maps.me off to the right before the final climb to the east viewpoint. We do not recommend going this way as it was so overgrown it was also impassable.

Went with tour guide from Pariban hotel, Hendra, super duper nice guide. We stay in pariban hotel. We went up at 7.30AM, as we didnt to get bit by mosquitoes. Reach at top around 9AM+, easy trail. But it was cloudy day, so cant really see the sunrise nor the sunlight. Great views on top of the mount.

Good place to hike. Relative safe volcano mountain. Early morning hike is the best for the sunrise

Very easy trekking and we can identify the trails clearly without guide. We did use predownloaded Mapy app that mark all the trails. Once at the crater area, there are so many things to explore and see. It's nice that you can go light for a day trip and still be able to see so many things. We went back to Pos 1 at Jaranguda and walked all the way down to Semangat Gunung village for a much needed hot tub recovery!
