Mount Sumbing

Second highest peak in Central Java! It was AMAZING. An unassuming hike with great views. This mountain seems to be visited mostly by local Indonesians (vs. its more famous neighbour Merbabu). It had its own character and being so high up you're above the clouds and it's magical. HIKE: We did a 'one-way' hike up from Mangli and down to Garung on the other side. The ascent can be intense but it's definitely doable, probably moderate difficulty for the ascent. We camped at Pos 3 overnight and even from here you'd be able to get incredible views of the valley below and the sunrise when it comes. The last 300m stretch up to the summit from Pos 4 may be a bit steep, but it's worth it. We realised most locals would leave their tents and most equipment at the campsite and do the summit with just a small bag, probably a smart move. We, however, did it with our heavy bags as we wanted to traverse the ridge to get to the other side. Going along the ridge/crater was definitely a challenge, highly technical. We were probably the only ones that attempted it that day. Going down to Garung was a lot less pleasant as the path was very 'slippery' and dusty. Bring trekking poles for this path if you want to save your knees. Enjoy the hike (:

very beautiful sky view.

Star hiking via kaliangkrik, it takes 4-6 hours to reach summit from basecampe, better to camp on post 3 rather than post 4, you will get best view and not get windy weather. Theres no water source via kaliangkrik, overall the best view is not in the summit but on your track especially between post 3 and post 4..

If you like active activity then trip to Mt'Sumbing Peak it's a good one, it takes almost 7 hours for me for round trip (tiktok) start at 1.30 am in the morning, we get the Mt'Sumbing Peak (Puncak Rajawali) at 5.20 am, we reach down in start point at 8.15 am.

I'm hiking Mount Sumbing with my friends in October 2017. Sumbing Mountain is located on Temanggung. The view on the Sumbing Mountain is very beautiful. We can ocean clouds. We can also see Mount Sindoro. Savanna on the Sumbing Mountain is very wide with a very beautiful Edelweiss flower. We capture this moment with photos and make silly videos. We like hiking in Sumbing Mountain.

Best sunrise and starry night sky i've ever had in my life. Super lovely. I reccomend you to visit this place in dry season, June-September, when the weather is clear. You can easily see starry night with your bare eyes. Superb view, what an unforgettable memory.

The Majestic Mt. Sumbing! Thank you for welcoming me in such a warm day! Was adoring you since my hiking journey to Mt.Sindoro. What an unforgettable hiking journey. There’re so many basecamp we can choose to hike this beautiful mountain and I chose to hike through Mangli! The fastest track I read so far. And yeah! My daylight hike was so smooth! Started to hike around 8.30 am and reach the peak around 1pm! What a day! Give it a shot! Solo hiking never that scary as people say! I did it! So spectacular scenery!

Beautiful mountain to climb. Easy to access from the main road. The park rangers has done a great job in keeping the mountain clean and trash free, compare to other mountains.
