Seriously, if you're in Coron, you have to hit Mt. Tapyas not just once but do climb everyday 😅 It's a straight-up awesome hike. You climb a bunch of steps (a good workout, not gonna lie), and then bam! the view hits you. The sunsets? Insane. I think it is one of the most stunning views you'll ever get without having to trek for hours. The whole town and those epic Palawan islands just light up. It's beginner-friendly. It's the perfect casual climb with a massive payoff. Honestly, I'd climb this thing every day if I could. I'm already planning my next trip back to Coron just for that sunset view. 10/10, definitely recommend. And oh there are ginger cats 🐈 🥰

Well worth the 750 steps for the beautiful panoramic views of Coron and the surrounding islands! Would recommend doing this early morning of possible, where the temperatures are lower and the path is very quiet, to enjoy the viewing deck at the top pretty much to yourself. A really pretty hike to the top and stunning views are the reward for your efforts.

Beautiful spot for sunset viewing. 720 steps to the top. Took only 15 mins to go up (for a fit person with no breaks, at a leisurely pace). Well worth the trip! Stunning panoramic views of Coron.

Must-see if you are in Coron. Worth for both sunrise and sunset. Great for active and non-active people alike. Just be aware that it is a 700+ steps per way. Breathe taking view of the whole town and all the islands nearby.

Climbing the 720 steps might be hard but reaching the top is totally satisfying! Give it a try to visit Mt. Tapyas.

My highlight of coron. Amazing staircase hike, can reach summit in 10 minutes with no break if you are fit. If you aren't there's plenty of rest stops and viewpoints on the way up so you can take it at your own pace. There's super friendly cats at the top that are so cute, pretty sure the council feed them but bring them a snack if you feel like it, they deserve it. View is absolutely to die for, full sweeping 360 view of coron and the surrounding islands, perfect no matter the weather, almost better when it's just been raining as there is no people. Big cross and Hollywood style "coron" sign at the top that they light up at night.

I enjoyed walking up to Mount Tapyas as it is a challenge. You will be walking a lot of steps so I suggest bringing water to quench your thirst. Reaching the top feels like a success but the view is a wonder. It is one for the books if you want a bit of challenge. The stairs are well made so it is safe and not steep. I would not recommend this for kids and the elderly as it may be too challenging for them unless if they are fit and healthy.

The 700 steps each way were all worth it. Beautiful view at the top. We visited here as part of the Town Tour which only starts at 4PM in the afternooon. No man made shade nor benches at the top.

Yelp
Brutal 'hike' but I want to clarify what others are calling a hike and reaptly call this a straight CLIMB. This is not a meandering trail goes in different directions which I define as a hike. This is a straight concrete staircase that goes straight up in one line some 750 steps. And in all my climbing experience, climbs that traverse back and forth in a zig zag pattern aka 'switchbacks' are less strenuous on the body and breathing. Going straight up in a one line fashion is the quickest route but it is also the most taxing on your endurance. This trek on Mt Tapyas is definitely the latter. This was part of the 'Town' tour that I took on the first day here as to acquaint my self with the town and its terrain. The guide does warn us that if anybody has asthma or high blood pressure to not try,and just stay in the van. 8 of us started including our guide. Only 4 of us made it to the top as the others stopped at some point and turned back. About half way up due to the heat and humidity I was gassed. If I would have known that it was going to be this involved I would have worn lighter material clothing. I went shirtless from here on out as all my clothes were soaked. Our guide should have told us to bring more water as I only brought a small plastic water bottle. You need much more than that for this. The second half of the climb I found myself stopping more frequently. Like had to stop 4 times on the second half and only once on the first half. Finally got to the top. There's a huge white cross up there made of metal white piping. Supposedly you can see this cross from most places in town proper. There's a 360 view from up there and the special one is overlooking the sea and the neighboring smaller islands. The other side are just grassy hills. Our guide took several photos of us as he knew the vista points and cool angles. And all guides here are super versed in handling phone cameras of all types. The way down is a breeze. Looking at all the sweating faces still trying to go up. I felt their pain. But I didn't want to discourage anyone as once on top there is a feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment that will sweep through your psyche. Mt. Tapyas you kicked my ass, and I ain't mad at ya for it. You made me stronger, so much appreciated.

Yelp
People like to spend their last day of vacation in different ways: my nieces and nephew wanted to cram as much activity as possible into the remaining time we had, hubby slept in, while my cousin and I woke up early to conquer Mount Tapyas. Mt Tapyas is less than 13 minutes away on foot; but we wanted to conserve our energy for the climb. We paid P30 for a trike to take the two of us from our hotel to the base of the mountain. It took us about an hour to climb the 721 steps to get to the top and then back down, this included multiple stops to rest and take pictures (there are numerous landings and benches along the way). It was a nice climb, most of which was shaded by trees. At the view deck at the top there's no shade, so I wouldn't recommend coming when it's hot. It was a perfect spot to take in the width and breadth of Coron.

Yelp
This place is highly recommended you gotta climb 756 steps high to reach the view of the whole Coron , it's a hard climb if you can't climb no worries , your health is first. Bring lots of water and energy to climb the 700 plus stairs ... Good luck when you go !

Yelp
700 steps baby! You can do it!!! It's my first day in Coron, after getting settled in the hotel and catching a quick snooze, my tour guide popped in our hotel to take me sight seeing as well as to take me to the site's listed in my tour package itinerary. After hitting the souvenir shop and cashew stands, Mt. Tapyas was next in line. My guide Dennis pointed to the cross on top of the hill and told me "that is our next destination" as an avid hiker, I couldn't be more tickled to find out that Mt. Tapyas is the actuality of a stairmaster, my calves and bum will sure have a good work out! We arrived at the bottom of the hill, I thought he was climbing up with me but "nope" he mentioned a lame excuse such as his shin hurts yada-yada-yada lol... So solo up the stairs I go. At first I decided to sprint it, do some stair jogs to get to the top as quickly as possible, but then I looked behind me and saw the amazing vista of this island that I am just about to explore, so I decided take it easy, nice and slow until I found the right pace, stopping once in a while to take pictures of the magnificent views, the beautiful Coron! There are a few rest points where it offers different views for your enjoyment, if you are traveling alone like myself, a handy dandy selfie stick can help you get the job done of getting those amazing views with you in the scene! Just be persistent and keep it up! The rewards when you reach the top is a magnificent full view of the Island, it's breathtaking, a giant white metal Cross that you could see from almost any point of Coron sits in the middle atop this hill, if you walk a little behind the cross, you'll find a nice view of the hills and a little rest area to rest and catch your breath. When in Coron, this trek is a must!!!
