What a gorgeous and highly diverse opportunity to step into nature! Love this space! While here we experienced incredible walking trails that invite visitors to step into an interesting variety of outdoor areas from evergreens to wetlands filled with peat moss to meadows. The trails are easy to navigate and well marked. This place is absolutely worth a visit. I can’t wait to go back!

One of the favorite nature walks in Catskills, arboretum combines man-made landscape of West and East Meadows with native beauty of Spruce Glen (old growth hemlocks there are inspiring and trail to Hidden Marsh boardwalk reminded me illustrations to Grimm Brothers fairy tales). Parking may be tight on weekends.

Serene, heavenly. Rains had just stopped and we walked on the soft wet ground and saw experienced the gentle nature with light breeze on our faces and lush green visuals. All our travel tiredness and stress the melted away instantly.

10.20.24 Lots of free parking. Free to walk around and explore. You can walk at your own pace and learn about the various trees. You can sit and relax, read a book, and take a nap outdoors. This is great for any age. Very quiet and peaceful.

Enjoyed this small garden with our family. The ladies attending the flower beds as we walked through were happy to chat about the garden, the area, and love generally. Lovely experience.

Hidden Marsh is wonderful. Hemlock trail, you definitely need some hiking boots/shoes for because it's covered in roots and rocks. Few slight inclines. Wonderful place to just stroll around as well and see the names of all the different trees, sit by the small pond and just take in nature. Can't wait to go back and do the meadow trails and woodland trail. I also love all the Thomas Cole quotes on the trails. Lovely place, and there was no charge to enter. Edit: Went back this year and did woodland and meadow areas. Beautiful and peaceful.

We absolutely loved taking in the scenery at this arboretum. Our favorite part was the trail to the marsh. I highly recommend exploring all the trails and going down to the marsh. So beautiful!

Such a gorgeous place with beautiful, creative and educational events. Highly recommend checking out what’s being held here, coming to connect with the land and supporting them so they can continue doing the wonderful things they do! Thank you for your work

Yelp
This arboretum is free to enter. It has several walking trails with distinct trees in each section. The East Meadow takes you through pine alley and was sunny and grassy. The Hemlock Trail was dense with trees and most of the trail was covered in roots. It led to the Hidden Marsh, which had a nice little boardwalk to walk out into the bright, vast marsh. We also checked out Woodlands Walk, which was a short set of loops, with fun little signs that told a cute children's story along the way. There were a few signs on the trails, but there wasn't quite as much information about the trees and plants as I would have expected. Still, it was great for a stroll and some sections felt like easy hiking, so it's a very pleasant place to wander for a few hours.

Yelp
Mhew! This place is ok if you want to kill time and take a stroll in the woods. While I do understand the term "arboretum" means various trees and plants, I hoped to see some flowers in the mix. I've been to other arboretums in NYS and they have flowers that add to the appeal of visiting these places. I stopped in to kill time since I was early for checking into my camp site nearby. This arboretum had a few miles of trails with various facts about the trees and plants they care for. If you visit be sure to donate to help the staff maintain the property. While it didn't blow me away I do understand and appreciate the hard work that goes into maintaining places like this.

Yelp
This was just okay for me. I guess we were there pretty early in the season but there was just nothing to really do but walk around. Which we did do for a while! I don't know if we were just not in the best spot but I didn't see any great views. It didn't cost anything to get in so it's definitely worth it if you're just looking to do a little walking around in nature. The bathrooms were soooo nice too which I really didn't expect!

Yelp
Came here for some hiking and fresh air during a trip in January (pre-COVID). Beautiful grounds including trails, gardens, and a boardwalk. The bathrooms were clean, the grounds well-kept, and the staff were helpful. Would definitely recommend for a brief walk in nature.

Yelp
Lovely and a must see gem when you're in the Catskills. Dog friendly except in posted areas. Be respectful and carry in and carry out. Bathrooms were clean but don't forget you need to wear a mask.

Yelp
Wish we could've spent more time here on a drizzly grey Sunday morning. After being frustrated by all the crowds near Kaaterskill Falls and Giant Ledge, if was nice to have this place to ourselves. The education center and other buildings are beautiful and look new. Even though no staff was there, the signs were clear to find the bathrooms. This is a great alternative for people who want to experience nature without all the mountains and super-hikers clogging up the trails. A perfect place for families with kids who want to run and explore without the fear of falling off a cliff.

Yelp
Beautiful if you're up for a brief walk - 45-60 mins. Lovely gardens, a maze that isn't a maze, and a nice boardwalk. We went in November.
