This tasteful little shop on Main Street is one of those places that can even induce coupon-crazed old me to relax, to leisurely stroll, to examine ingredient labels rather than price stickers, to want to sniff vinegars as fragrant and beautifully bottled as designer perfumes, sample truffle oils, and actually consider that cheaper isn't always better.
Mountain Town Olive Oil is the kind of specialty foods store that makes you want to wrap up in a pashmina and browse through all day examining flavored salts and handmade soaps whilst chatting with the friendly staff (and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable), in your best breezily cultured, Ina Garten-voice. (And then if you're me, you come crashing back to reality, you pick out a few items that you think are the most worth the price, and then you get the heck out of there before you leave with a purchase so small at a cost so high that it makes a shopping spree at Whole Foods seem budget-conscious).
In my case, I bought a package of truffle pasta ($10, which will allegedly feed four people, but in my case will probably feed just my face), and a package of truffle bouillon (there is a trend here...), because I've never seen such a thing before. The tiny store is absolutely lovely, elegantly arranged, with a select assortment of quality goods - foodie paradise. Definitely worth a visit.
