Stayed for 3 nights just after the holidays. The renovations and holiday decor were amazing. Perfect family destination with lots of activities. The food was better than expected and fast. Free tubing and snow shoeing were amazing and you cannot beat the grounds and the view. Amazing trails and lots to do color in the towns around the resort. Super reasonable price for a large suite.

This was our third stay at MVG and we once again had a wonderful experience. We were disappointed that the hot tub was closed down, but all other amenities were appreciated. We thought that coffee should be available in the lobby for the mornings at no cost. We found we had to purchase it from the gift shop. Our room was perfect, with lots of space and sweeping views of the lawn. We will return again next winter for a relaxing, easy get away in the White Mountains.

Our stay at the Mountain View Grand was very pleasant. Overall, the staff was super friendly and helpful. Our bartender Andrew was the best and went out of his way to ensure our satisfaction. Jo Jo from the bar was also amazing. Perhaps the Crown Jewel though was the couples massage we got from Scott and Cassandra. My wife remarked that the massage from Scott was probably the best she has ever had! The food was very good and the service very punctual. The fitness room was also very well equipped for a resort. We did not use the indoor pool. Our room was clean and the bed super comfy. We had a suite and the views when clear were lovely! Though the furniture and carpets were a bit dated (we had a suite). Several old NH towns were a short drive away and we had a phenomenal dinner at Taste of Thai in Littleton. Overall, I would give it 4.5 stars!

Google
Service was great. The dining room supervisor was so sweet and greeted us daily. Would make suggestions on food items. We ended up spending more on food than we would have, which was fine because her choices were very good. Great upselling in her part. We loved everything about our stay. We did a massage at the spa which was amazing Casandra did a fantastic job. The spa could have used some upkeep. There were hanger and robes overflowing. Drift glasses everywhere. They could use a person to upkeep the spa lounge.

Google
Great customer service. Housekeeping was very nice and accommodating. Beautiful scenery. If you didn’t pack snacks or drinks for your room then the closest store for snacks and drinks is dollar general ( approx 5min drive ) so plan and pack accordingly. The room ( King suite ) was comfy, nice huge tv, plenty of outlets, however the walls are thin and so are the floors above you if you’re a light sleeper then you may have problems. Parking in the back and a short walk. Approx 10-12min drive to Santa’s village. Two very very small issues, “do not disturb hanger” and plastic bag for ice bucket was not in room. However, the front desk was able to provide when requested. If you want convenience to Santa’s Village then this is your place. If you want more amenities ( kitchenette, restaurants ) besides what the hotel offers then you may want to stay about 30-45min south of the hotel ( same amount of travel to Santa’s village ) I failed to take pics of the resort but next time I will. Pics attached are from the beautiful mountains. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and I would def stay again.

This is a special hotel and resort ideal for families during any season of the year. It’s special because it’s a beautiful historic hotel with tremendous architecture detail and finishes, old paintings along the hallways, and it has a series of large open cozy areas in the lobby where families hang out with access to food, drinks, and beautiful mountain scenery at every window. The rooms are very nice, the views of the mountains are amazing, and we had two great dinners at the restaurant as well as spending time at the movie theater, the swimming pool, and the game room. They also have a great working farm that you can bring the kids to that has chickens, ducks, lamas, alpacas, goats, etc. Two thumbs up for this hotel and resort. We recommend this hotel and we will go back to experience it again during the summer. Our kids (12 and 10) loved it.

Google
Jojo is absolutely amazing! She is the best ever! We came here last year for the first time where she was our waitress for dinner and recommended the best dishes! She is so sweet and professional! We came here this year looking for her and she saw us before we saw her! She is now at the bar and is still her sweet, nice, professional self! She is the BEST!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND JOJO!!

Google
By far one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had in a while, Booking was excellent, once we arrived the property was incredible and the staff was so helpful. Our room was huge, beautiful and the views from this property were incredible!! We sadly had a quick stay but we dream of coming back to enjoy the pool, game room, or the cozy library. One thing we got to enjoy to its fullest was the bar, the staff was so attentive and once they heard we enjoyed wine Andrew the bartender arranged for a private little tour of their wine cellar which was magical! Once we returned upstairs his supervisor Yumi had prepared us with another round which we enjoyed by the fire place. It was an incredible night! Upon leaving we enjoyed a great breakfast buffet and had to check out the farm and loved all of the animals! We can’t wait to make our way back over the summer !

Yelp
Great hotel. The breakfast was really good dinner was decent. Movie room was great. The pool was amazing.

Yelp
Very awesome views! The rooms were a bit smaller and the walls between rooms were super thin,so had too much noise all the time for $500 bucks a night! The hotel also didn't have a decent coffee :( Imean they did have coffee, but the one there was was just ok'ish! Can't beat the views tho!

Yelp
Beautiful historic resort. Very clean, there's always someone vacuuming, cleaning in the common areas. Farm on location with Llamas, Alpacas, Sheep, Roosters, Hens, Cats roaming the farm area. Weddings galore-a real venue destination. Gorgeous facilities. The trails on property are gorgeous! Check out Trail 1 -Easy elevation south of resort near main road. Never found the stream but absolutely beautiful. Bring bug repellent-none available at Provisions store but informed they carry it at the Dollar General Stire a mile away. Friendly service and helpful customer service desk.

Yelp
Our favorite place ruined. This is our third time at mountain view grand. Not sure what happened but there is nothing grand about it anymore. The lobby is awful now. Big beautiful couches replace with cheap faux suede junk along with this ugly modern attempt at decor. They took down the bar wall. So what was once a cozy pub is drowned by the Loud check in noise at 4pm. No more wall paper or historic decor. Dinner served did not match the menu. We are early birds and the we noticed at breakfast no one cleans the windows at night in the main dining room. Beautiful view of mountains and kids handprints. Library was filthy and run down. Front desk couldn't answer questions about resort happenings. Gym was 70 degrees but the lobby and game room were freezing. Gym had really old equipment that was loud and half the elliptical we stuck on a reset screen. The postcards in the room had a snot on them. We just can't justify spending so much. So sad, this was our favorite place to go even though it was out of the way. It's very clear there is no management involvement anywhere in sight. Employees walk by messes without a second look. Hostess is consumed by biting her nails and there is one poor soul who has been swiffering salt off the dark wood floors in the lobby with absolutely no progress.

Yelp
not a big fan. 1st thing i felt was that the film the shining must have originated there. the doorman greeted me poorly, the check in was creepy, the elevator going up to the third floor was ancient. worst part was when getting off the elevator the CARPET WAS BARE AND TATTERED like the place was going out of business and the third floor was barely booked. the staff was great. the breakfast overpriced and only buffet avail. the rooms were clean. gym acceptable.

Yelp
I recently stayed for a week at the Mountain View Grand Resort in New Hampshire, and it was an unforgettable experience. Pros: The views from both our room and the property in general were truly unmatched. Being nestled in the heart of the mountains provided a breathtaking backdrop throughout our stay. The llama experience was an absolute must-do; walking alongside these gentle creatures and enjoying breakfast afterward was a unique adventure. Axe throwing and visiting the farm with a variety of animals were also standout activities that added to the charm of the resort. The property itself was impeccably clean and accentuated its natural beauty. The Wine Cellar Restaurant was truly beautiful and a wonderful experience. We tried the bar, and the second restaurant, as well as room service and all was stellar! Cons: While the overall experience was nice there were a few areas that left something to be desired. The front desk service, in particular, was lacking. It felt as though we had to initiate every request, which, considering the substantial cost of our stay (few thousand) was somewhat disappointing. The rest of the staff (housekeeping, activities coordinator, bar and restaurant, and the porch employees were amazing, no complaints there) but the front desk staff truly need some hospitality training. When checking in they didn't offer a map of the premises (and it's a huge property) or schedule of the activities- I had to prompt them to give it to us and I had to ask for every add-on activity (times, price) because I researched them online, not because they offered. Had I not seen the llama experience or axe throwing we wouldn't have done it because we wouldn't have known. And truly all they had to do was provide us a paper they print with the daily activities (which they did once I asked). We were also not told about the spa or all its services (which we would've done) until the last day when it was too late. Additionally, the limited scheduling of certain activities was a bit restrictive. Axe throwing being available only once a day at 10 am and s'mores offered only three times a week, rather than nightly, made it challenging to fully enjoy these amenities. In conclusion, the Mountain View Grand Resort offers a stunning setting and spacious rooms with incredible views. However, there is room for improvement when it comes to the level of service and the availability of some activities. Despite these minor drawbacks, our overall experience was memorable, but unless they change their staff training we'd consider spending those 3 thousand dollars at the Mount Washington Resort down the road. The Mountain View Resort is a historic and beautiful property and their front desk staff should treat it as such and make guests feel valued and welcome, as well as enticed to take advantage of every amenity it has to offer.

Yelp
Giving three stars because we only had hot water three out of our five night stay... I wouldn't say our stay was bad- however I wish we chose a place more closer to Lincoln as there was *so* much to do over there and this place was in the middle of nowhere. The facility was gorgeous and kept so clean, we loved the pool and the gym, and the little farm was so cool as well. The "mountain biking" was a struggle because the path for it around the premises was nonexistent and not kept up with at all- it's not actual mountain biking at all & I think they should change the advertised name of that. We also were not a fan of the restaurant needing a reservation and the menu did not have a variety of choices at all- not to mention there was no way to get something easy to eat like a casual burger (usually 'resorts' have features like that). I think their advertised site makes it look more fun than it was because honestly, finding things to do that weren't an hour away was more difficult than it should have been. I did like their texting system, it was easy to ask questions and get answers quickly and the staff was very kind and helpful.

Yelp
Nested amidst stunning landscapes, this esteemed hotel boasts breathtaking grounds and property. The ambiance is nothing short of enchanting, with meticulously manicured gardens and captivating architecture. While the bar and tavern offer an array of delectable culinary delights that tantalize the taste buds, the drinks, unfortunately, fall short of expectations. Moreover, the bar and tavern service, although well-intentioned, could benefit from improvement. While staff members are friendly, there seems to be a disconnect in efficiency and attentiveness, detracting significantly from the overall experience.

Yelp
Not what it used to be. The grounds are gorgeous and there has been a modernization of the lobby complete with a toxic wall of air freshener that is now popular in "boutique" hotels. The MVG is not boutique. It is a grand hotel where people come to take the actual air, not Abercrombie and Fitch. You smell it, breathe it and eat it. Yuck! The updates stop at the lobby. The rooms and hallways are dated and the same as they always were. The ballroom carpet is desperate for replacement. Also, covered with perfume leading to wonder what lies in the fiber. Yuck. The game room has the same pool table it did 25 years ago, as well as the same dented balls and rickety rackety sticks with frayed tips. Also, black mold in the ac unit pouring into the pool room. Harkening back to the Legionnaires debacle from December. You didn't learn your lesson after people died? The "theater" made my home tv look good. The gift shop used to be a gem and now it is a 4Imprint self-promotion emporium with a fake milk powder infused Nescafé coffee machine. Not great. The service was AWFUL. I cannot even begin to detail the lack of training that this once fine dining establishment used to herald. The kids are nice, but do I have to ask for water, really? Menus was seriously overpriced. A $60 ribeye with three "loaded" baked potatoes each the size of my thumb nail. Wow. No bread, no soup or salad, no greens could be seen. It is apparent the MVG is no longer locally owned and is operated in lieu of corporate buyout and a complete lack of attention to the details that made this hotel among the three grand hotels of yesteryear. We stayed one night. $240 + $40 resort fee + 9% tax + $200 dinner for 2 and a $60 breakfast buffet with cold potatoes. $600! That is a pricey night that could have been enjoyed elsewhere.

Yelp
Do not bother coming here during the offseason. My partner and I stayed for 3 days, and went to both the spa and the restaurant. While the amenities clearly have the potential to be nice, we had several instances of disappointing service or rude staff. The massages specifically were disappointing, and were originally the reason why we even came to stay here in the first place. Activities that were posted were not staffed, the advertised hot tub is out of service "permanently", in general the hotel is so eerily void of staff and guests that it seems haunted. On checkout, we also found that we were double charged for a dinner so it's important to triple check your folio. You are far better off going to many of the other great destinations anywhere in New England - if you're on the fence of whether or not to book, I strongly recommend you reconsider.

Yelp
We were a party of 4 and it took two hours to get our food. Two of the four dishes we ordered came out cold and they told us they would re-fire it, but after 20 minutes, they told us they would make new dishes, and we asked them to forget about it. One of the dishes (lamb shank) was mostly fat. The salmon was delicious. The manager told us that the kitchen was understaffed, but we don't understand how that's possible being that 3/4 of the restaurant was empty. Multiple groups came into the restaurant, ordered, and received their food after we did. This is statistically the worst meal we've ever had. I can't wait for every meal for the rest of my life to not be this bad.

Yelp
A wonderful venue in the heart of the White Mountains. This original grand hotel has had a great refurbishment and yet still retains the original splendor! We also enjoyed the bed and breakfast package which was a really nice option. The breakfast buffet is first rate!! This weekend was not with out challenges as we booked our room using the photograph and was assigned a substandard smaller room. This was corrected by the staff in a complimentary upgrade back to the room we expected. Also there was a great deal of confusion making a dinner reservation, our first night for dinner. After being informed that the 1st opening was 8:30PM, We drove all over attempting to eat and finding every local restaurant closed even though yelp had them open? We called back to hotel and getting another host saying there were plenty of openings. We had a great meal in the end. Overall it was a wonder long weekend and we strongly recommend making the journey!! The grounds and the interior are wonderful and so worth the trip!

Yelp
This year was a bummer. We come up every Christmas and the hotel used to have a welcoming family holiday vibe. This year the doormen were gone and none of the staff even made eye contact. The only exception to that was the horribly rude bar tender who screams at every customer. I can't be the only person to mention her. The renovations are ok but the furnishings make the hotel cold, uninviting and corporate. it feels like a Hampton Inn now. The Christmas tree outside is sad. You really cut the top of the tree off to make it fit? That hotel needs over the top decorations, a hot coco bar, a pianist in the lobby and an overall infusion of holiday spirit. Basically everything they used to have. Christmas dinner this year was also a huge letdown. The cafe menu lacks options.

Yelp
Definitely not a place to go to over the winter/ cold months. Spending the weekend inside this "resort" was excruciating. Food/Drinks: Food felt fake, microwaved, store bought, and little taste yet over priced. We came from the city where prices are the same, yet the food is much much better. We skipped out on our last meal there to get some actual food food. It's the same menu for both lunch and dinner every day, and not much around the area to go off the "resort" The drinks are mediocre. No shakers were used in the making. Very sugary and a lot of juices used. Jacuzzi/ Pool area: Felt like a Hilton indoor pool. Jacuzzi didn't work half of our stay. Kids running everywhere. Not to mention you have to go through the main lobby in order to reach this area. Hope your comfortable with everyone seeing you in a soaking wet bathing suit! Spa Experience: We were mainly disappointed by this, as this is the main reason we came. Women and men have separate lounge/ changing areas where you are given slippers and robes. Both of our robes smelt old and over used while visually stained. The slippers were both heavily used and thin. The massages were OK. We both felt as though that for the price and all the hype, they would have been worth the $$. Over all experience: Severely disappointed. This is definitely a place that older couples can go to. Piano playing in the lobby, a lot of carpeting, chess rooms, computer rooms, and a lot of time to sleep.

Yelp
We received a gift card and decided to try the restaurant. The good: friendly servers, the steak and the shrimp cocktail. The bad: Unfortunately, they were renovating so the "restaurant " was using the ball room. Needless to say the ambiance was terrible. Actually the service wasn't good either, we waited over an hour for our entrees. The salmon was over cooked and the sides were not hot. The French onion soup was awful and also not hot. We will try one more time once the renovations are completed.

Yelp
This is the singularly worst experience we have ever had at a "luxury" property. We made a specific room request 8 months in advance of the reservation, it was not honored. The toilet backed up first thing in the morning and overflowed. The room was dirty and out dated. There is zero noise insulation. Vegetables were so over salted they were inedible. Thanksgiving buffet horrificly overpriced based on options available. We were charged for a breakfast package we were not told about until checkout. They do not follow their own sustainably initiatives. Single use, plastic packaged bathroom amenities (even the soap) and all towels changed daily, even ones hung to dry. Do yourselves a favor, go to the Mt Washington Omni Resort, less money and far superior.

Yelp
We stayed here 3 nights for our Anniversary. The hotel upgraded our room for free and gave us a complimentary box of chocolates. Such a sweet and appreciated gesture. The room was spacious at the end of a hallway. Very quiet w breathtaking views. Room included a refrigerator. The king size bed was very comfortable. The resort has a working farm, golf, and many other activities. This location is best for those wanting to relax, hike, or mountainbike. Do not expect to find close places to visit or go have a drink that are around the corner. N Conway is about an hour away. If you have time definetely check out the Town of Littleton. Great Main Street w shops and restaurants. Only 15-20 minutes away. The hotel has a bar and restaurant. Cocktails on average are 14 bucks. If this bothers you then byob. Harvest Tavern is the restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. For some reason they do not have their own Yelp page. We ate dinner there 3 nights and let me tell you Ahhhmazzing. I never thought I would say this but the Ceasar salad was so tasty. We had it every night. I had the halibut one night and steak. Each dish rivaled the next. We did the breakfast buffet. $17 includes juice and coffee. You can't beat that price. Many selections including eggs, meats, waffle, French toast, pancakes, potatoes etc. Only complaint is they have one person running the buffet to serve which is ridiculous and not efficient. Also the AM table service I found to be slow for breakfast which was aggravating. My pet peeve is having to wait a long time to get check then wait even longer to have payment processed. I suggest you ask for the bill before you are even done eating to avoid the aggravation. All and all this is a wonderful hotel for rest and relaxing. We definitely will return.

Yelp
Dear fellow traveler, I would not trust any review here that doesn't mention at least some of what make this place a total gem: the immensely stunning location, historic building, manicured grounds, expansive amenities, activities galore, classic charm, and above all the wonderful staff. My stay this weekend was my 15th or so over the last 2 decades. This place is consistently awesome, even during a pandemic. The value proposition here is different than a chain. You are staying for an experience that thousands of other places aren't able to offer. I won't do it justice by telling you about the very nice clean room, welcoming valet, convenient on site restaurants, or huge gym and pools. I want to tell you instead about Misty, the barn and farm director, who spent over an hour with us connecting us with her world through rich conversation and beloved farm animals.(Hey there Finnegan the Llama!) There is Linda, also in the barn, who told us of her beautiful story while teaching us how to do create felted soaps with fibers from the farm animals who surrounded us. I can't forget the wonderful Delton in the Harvest Tavern who made sure our meal was perfect while we connected about our days. (Go Liverpool!) Or the bartender working 15 hr shifts who had a smile on her face and was hustling ALL day. Or the super entertaining activity staff who ran the most fun installment of adult axe throwing imaginable. We see your excellence, MVG staff!! If you haven't been following the news lately there is this pandemic thing going on right now. All service industries are running short on people while the demand as high for regional escapes. Somehow the MVG was able to exceed the expectations we had during the challenging time with attentive, personal and welcoming service. I can't begin to list all the ways we could enjoy this place. So check out their website and book a stay to see the amenities to help you adventure, relax, laugh, create, connect, learn and explore. Happy Traveling! View from room... how can you beat that?

Yelp
This place used to be a charming, but under new ownership it's gone downhill. Decor is sterile and unwelcoming. Food menu slashed. Activities mostly gone. Pool cold. No dressers to unpack. Staff trying but many could not communicate due to language barrier. Housekeeping barely came during our week long stay. It felt unsanitary.

Yelp
How the mighty have fallen. I am not at all surprised to see this place has slipped way down in the ratings. This place used to be absolutely amazing, but since new owners purchased it a year or two ago, I'm very unimpressed. Stayed here recently, and sad to say it was probably my last time. Way too much money for the value. Most of the front desk and wait staff have pusses on their faces all day; there's only about 6 entrees on the menu; the pool house kitchen has been closed; and the daily activity schedule has become a joke. When we started coming here in 2014, there was a woman named Ms. Baker who ran the activities. There was all kinds of stuff to do, including poolside bingo, cardboard boat races, pub trivia, etc. There was plenty of fun stuff to do all day. Ms. Baker is long gone, and now they just throw a few things on the daily sheet and call it a day. Not too much thought or effort seems to go into it. They also charge a "resort fee" which is laughable. Was $30/day last year and is now $40/day. Highway robbery. And for what? "Afternoon Refreshments" consists of flavored water and 1 plate of cookies for the entire hotel, and once they're gone, they're gone. Word seems to have gotten around because the pool and dining room were practically empty during my stay which was the height of the summer season. This place used to be packed, but no so any more. They used to have 4 or 5 footmen in the lobby; now they're down to 2. Business is clearly way down, which is such a shame. Paid $400 for 1 night including breakfast. Big room, but it was right on top of the kitchen. It was smelly and the noise of the compressors kept me up all night. Asked for a new room the next day and they charged me $500 for a room that was smaller than the one before (but a better view). So much for hospitality. That said, I will give credit where credit is due. Although a limited menu, the food, as always, was exceptional, so my compliments to the chef. Compliments also to the young lady who tends the flowers. She works her butt off all day and flowers on the entire campus are beautiful. Also hat's off to the grounds crew and the folks who run the golf shop. I played this course for the first time ever and really enjoyed it. Was probably the best part of my stay. If I swing by again, it will be for golf and the food only and will not be staying over. Sad to see so many comments from other folks like me who have been coming here for years and are really sad to see what has become of MVG. Good luck folks, but my 10+ year run in staying here has come to an end.

Yelp
I booked three night room 6 months ago. traveling with small dog this resort gladly accommodated the $1200 reservation. today I checked in and got the worst room in the entire resort. I've been given the wheel chair accessible room directly across from the check in desk. noisy and idly configured for a handicapped person. the bathroom has one tiny yellow light bulb which provides ZERO lighting above the mirror which is 5 feet high. can barely see my chin. how could a wheel chaired person see themselves? I'm not handicapped and this room lacks the view which I was promised. I see four AC units and a loading dock. Talk about being totally treated like crap. 100% this is me and my money. I asked about the other dog friendly rooms. they are down the hall in a quiet area with the same outdoor access- well it looks like none of those rooms have DOG occupying them. so I got send to the bottom of the list and given a terrible room and no management to help. really really unprofessional of this resort and NO manager on duty after 6pm. no one likes to be treated this way.

Yelp
I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could figure out how on this app. If you're looking for peace and quiet, you won't find it here! You will find scenic views, attentive staff, great food (I am told to highly recommend the maple pear salad), great drinks, and beautiful accommodations. The place is cozy with lots to see and do. And it's close to everything! I would come back!

Yelp
This is the third time we have visited MV. the first time, about 5 years ago where the resort was wonderful! Now it is under new ownership and the resort is not what it used to be: - The furniture and carpeting are looking their age. - On the Veranda (where there is a beautiful view of the Presidential Range) there is no piano player anymore, no wait staff to take drink or food orders and the s'mores by the firepit doesn't happen each night. - The pool is cloudy and fading. There is no staff organizing pool bingo or cardboard boat races. The bar pool bar is closed for drinks and food. - The axe throwing is available for 1 hour only. - the golf course is barely maintained. - Breakfast is buffet only now, no ordering off the menu. We ended up going to nearby restaurants. - Despite the long waits, the food at the Harvest Tavern was very good! And the bartenders are friendly and entertaining. Overall, the place is boring unless you have very little kids to enjoy Santa's Village and the pool. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this once great resort. Unfortunately, we will not be

Yelp
If you're looking for a relaxing, beautiful, peaceful place to getaway and unplug for a while, the Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa needs to be at the top of your list. A couple friends and I went away for a girls' weekend recently and had an amazing time! First, the grounds at the resort are uniquely positioned in the White Mountains with many outdoor sitting areas to sit back and enjoy a drink while you soak in the view from sunrise through sunset. The rooms and hallways inside are full of old, New England character, and the beds are quite comfortable to give you a energizing reset overnight. The spa at the resort is amazing, too, with enough services to make your head spin, and all provided with top-notch quality in a very serene setting! The resort is also located within an easy driving distance from a few good restaurants and breweries in northern New Hampshire, so if you feel the urge to get off campus, you have options to get around, too. Just be prepared in case you lose cell service around the area!

Yelp
Went for the Thanksgiving buffet in 2021. Didn't stay there. It was excellent. Only exception was I thought the stuffing was a little salty. There's plenty of food on the buffets to satisfy any cravings. The cocktail shrimp were superb; the sweet potato casserole, squash, potatoes, and turkey were excellent. The short ribs were perfection. The dessert tables had everything you could want. I can't remember what stood out but it was all good. Service was excellent, which is saying a lot post-COVID. I don't know how they do it. With tip & tax, it was about $175 for the two of us. We're looking at going back to the White Mntns for Thanksgiving this year and if we do, we're probably going back even tho they raised the price.

Yelp
The Mountain View Grand is so kid friendly, they have a pool, movie theater, and activity/game room with a pool table, ping pong, foosball, and air hockey. The food is good but it is expensive and has limited options. The staff is very kind. There is an amazing view of mountains out of every window.

Yelp
I have been coming to this historic hotel for 7 years except for COVID which caused me to miss last winter but come instead on Easter weekend. The service was severely lacking which is why I feel I must lower my rating. We arrived late, as we always do, and there was no valet on duty! This has never happened before. We had to load up a cart twice to bring our stuff in since we were staying 5 days and needed many layers of clothing for all 4 of us. We after driving from WNY we were exhausted. The room was beautiful. Unfortunately it was a long way done the halls to get to it. The next morning we got down for the included breakfast buffet and only had to wait 5-10 minutes. The food was hot and very good. Our server was also a very nice gentleman. The buffet line and dining area we're kept very clean however people walked in and sat themselves down when people with reservations had to wait because the hostess had no backup to cover her when she was seating a party at a table. We reserved the movie theater and we're disappointed that, unlike other years, they didn't serve popcorn. Since we have always had that in the past we didn't bring a movie snack with us and there aren't vending machines down there. We haven't gone to the pool yet. This was always a welcoming hotel that seemed to have staff year after year that we recognized and they recognized us. From the man who always held the door for us and valets that greeted us often after 9 at night the lobby, instead, lacked any staff except in the dining area and front desk. They are pleasant but it's lost some of its charm. Tonight there was 1 woman at the front desk and she couldn't answer questions about our tv and had housekeeping help us. The lobby was again empty. Past visits just always seemed to have people I'm view to greet everyone and help them with questions. They also had great offers for previous guests but that's no longer the case. Specials are for everyone with less good deals offered than past visits. We have gladly paid their high prices in the past because it felt comfortable here. The lack of friendly faces of workers just walking around from place to place doing their work has disappointed me. Having the friendly valets take us up in the old elevator was always fun too. I don't know if I will be back this summer or not. Back home and had to add a positive final moment. I went to the front desk to see if there was a valet to help us with our luggage. This very cheerful young man, who I had spoken to before, said he'd be glad to help. He went to his boss, grabbed his jacket and beat me to the room. He said he had previously been a bellhop and agreed the meeting early on through this service was important. He had been there for a couple of years which is why he had looked familiar to us. This 10-15 min interaction made me hope the recent atmosphere will be back to its old self by summer.

Yelp
Went to Harvest Table for dinner after visiting the Weathervane Theatre. I had made a 7:30 reservation. When I realized the play might run a bit longer I called during intermission to say that our party of 4 might be 10 minutes late. I was told, rather abruptly, that our table would not be held because the restaurant was sold out and if we couldn't arrive by 7:30 our reservation would be cancelled. We really wanted to try the newly renovated Harvest Table so we left the play early to arrive on time. To our surprise, the dining room was somewhat empty upon arrival and during our entire 1 hour 45 mins stay, there were at least 4 empty tables. The restaurant is fairly overpriced. I don't mind an overpriced menu if the food and ambience are outstanding, but unfortunately that was not the case. The party beside us left about 10 mins into our stay. There table was not cleaned the entire time we were there. Not a big deal, but if you're going to charge $50+ dollars for an entree, you need to make sure tables are cleaned within a few minutes of departure. My $54.50 steak was basic and the potatoes were lackluster. 2 of my friends ordered the swordfish...one was quite good and the other was clearly not the same dish!! The asparagus that came with one of my friend's dishes was raw. And, come on, a bar that charges $15 - $18 for drinks that runs out of martini glasses?? If you want to price yourself as a rockstar restaurant than you need to deliver a rockstar experience. This was not even close to that type of experience. I doubt I'd go back.

Yelp
This review refers specifically to The Harvest Tavern Restaurant and not the resort as a whole. The resort as a whole is gorgeous, but the restaurant was beyond disappointing. After serving cold clam chowder to everyone at our four top, we decided to mention the soup was cold and to please send warm soup. Our waitress said she would get everyone fresh soup. Long story short, not only was the soup cold the second time around, but they served the SAME SOUP. I know for sure because the gentleman to my right had put oyster crackers in his soup and when they returned, the soup with oyster crackers ended up with the gentleman sitting across from me. Beyond disgusting. Worse, was the restaurant's reaction to the situation. The waitress did not seem super concerned and the manager had almost the same response. Her reply was to "remove the four soups from our bill" as if this was some kind of favor and asked if there was anything else she could do. The gentleman across me instead ordered onion soup, for which they charged him! You would think they might comp a round of drinks, or an appetizer or something, but no. The next day, I brought this to the attention to the resort manager, explained the situation, and asked her to comp the dinner. She removed $30 and then said "That brings the total discount to $64, again as if removing contaminated soup is a favor. And then said "Oh, and we are going to bring this to the restaurant's attention. I pushed back but to no avail. So be aware, if you eat at this restaurant, you might be eating someone else's food, as they seem to think this appropriate at a resort of this caliber.

Yelp
The hotel itself is nice, the lobby is cozy and we enjoyed hearing the piano play and having drinks. We went on January 20 to the 25th and it was freezing. Too cold for us... nothing much to do unless you wanted to freeze outside... The tavern is cool and the restaurant gets 3.5 stars for food quality and taste. The room was decent but was dirty when we checked in. Hairs everywhere, seems like they didn't vacuum. Bed had crumbs too... very disappointing. Housekeeping took care of it and we tipped her nicely! Then we find out there's no refrigerator in the room, I was shocked. So we had to leave our wine and champagne out in the car. Not knowing it was going to be -23 degrees that night... our bottles exploded in the trunk. Including our $200 bottle of Dom Perignon... imagine our frustration! I picked this place mainly because of the spa services in the tower, I thought it was perfect for a 50th getaway celebration! Boy was I wrong, worst massage ever! The tower itself is beautiful and enjoyable but the massages were so disappointing, I just couldn't believe it! I paid a pretty penny for the massage and it was the worst ever!! We have a lot of experience with couple's massages to compare it to... so I know what I'm talking about! My first visit there in 2017 was awesome, including the spa experience... but what a disappointment this trip was...I hope they change it around but as for us, we will not return. Oh I wanted to mention that when I spoke to the front desk about issues with the Wi-Fi not working in the room her response was, nobody else has complained.... Unbelievable... I preferred to walk away and leave it at that... but that response really got me angry because I don't care about what anybody else is saying or not, I could only complain about what was going on in our room. The TV was slow changing channels so we just ended up using a mobile hotspot to use our iPad to watch movies. The lady that worked at the bar was super awesome!! People should learn from her what great CS looks like! The room service staff was also awesome!

Yelp
The good Views are fantastic Historical venue Staff are fantastic The bad Meh - I get that we're still in Covid but there is still no excuse. The accomodations are mediocre at best and certainly not worth the price of admission. The accomodations are dated, dirty and in poor repair. Food is uninspired and unimaginative. Hotel is noisy to say the least No valet service available or at least if there is it was not advertised. If you're used to modern clean accomodation you will most likely be disappointed especially given the cost per night.

Yelp
We came for two day weekend. The internet was super slow and kept on disconnecting, and we also received a small room which looked very different from the photos when we booked it. It is supposed to be a $450 suite, but bathroom is small, and there is not much space for "suite". Additionally, we wanted to microwave some food and looked for some communal microwaves because there was none in this $450 room. The front desk said there were no microwaves, but would send one to our room for $25. As someone else said and from our own experience, Mt Washington Omni Hotel is far superior for price and quality.

Yelp
This was the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. The room was absolutely disgusting. It wasn't clean there was hair in the bed. There was a beer bottle caps all over the floor. I had to request to change your room. They gave us a different room that was just as disgusting with no amenities no soap no body wash no robes Also hair in the bed. If you are ever thinking about staying at this hotel, I promise you you need to think otherwise it was the worst experience of my life. The staff is extremely rude to you they just take your money get you in there and then treat you absolutely awful. All they care about is getting your money. If there was -10 star reviews on this, I will give them that please people trust me go anywhere, but here it is the worst hotel I have ever been a part of in my entire life. The place should be shut down the Board of Health should be called on them. It's absolutely disgusting.

Yelp
We went here for a mini honey moon. While we enjoyed the premises, we did not enjoy our room. We were exhausted from the wedding and everything it entailed and juSt wanted to relax. They Thought it would be a good idea to do construction at all hours of the day... starting at 8am and going until about 4/5p- RIGHT ABOVE OUR ROOM! They didn't even Have the courtesy to wait until we left. We mentioned it and they said they wil make sure it didn't happen again.... well, it kept happening. It was extremely frustrating. They took a little bit of money off our bill which was nIce, but I really just wanted to relax. we didn't really explore the grounds because it was so cold. We enjoyed s'mores and we def enjoyed the views! The bartender, Spencer, was awesome and had Some good recommendations for places to eat and drink around the area. He also makes good cocktails! I'm not so sure i would go back. I would rather try another place first.

Yelp
No free smores buy kit in gift shop (and only 3 nights a week). No free coffee in a.m. - $3 a cup and no one seemed to bother to sit on the deck because of this. Breakfast buffet $24 (plus 22% service charge if a group of f6 or more for a buffet) which included fruit salad, pancakes/waffles, bacon/sausage, potatoes, eggs with whatever add in of the day (spinach or tomato or cheese) which made it a hard sell for kids, skimpy pastry area. Definitely not worth the price. Other reviewers have listed the cutbacks also. Not a place I intend to visit again (after 10 years). Nothing for kids to do except pool and game room.

Yelp
I have been coming to this hotel for the past 10 years. I booked 2 nights this weekend to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. When I arrived at the hotel, it was under a massive renovation. When I booked reservations, they never told me about renovations. I contacted management, and they didn't care and never apologized. I will never return to this hotel again!!! What a disappointment!!

Yelp
Probaly my 5th or 6th trip to the MVG in the last ten years but first since the onset of the pandemic. What a delight to enter the elegant and festive lobby! To a one the staff were friendly, attentive and mindful of the safety of staff and guests. Our rooms were comfortable with lovely views. We visited the farm which was a delight. Three of us had great massages in the spa. We enjoyed three meals in the Harvest Tavern and while the menus a possibly pared down from what I recall, everything was tasty. Special kudos to Tristan Silva for his friendly service. We did have a waitress at dinner who seemed to rush us (referenced in another review recently) but she was the exception. I hope that the MVG can continue to operate safely and welcome weary visitors into the traditional and lovely atmosphere offered! Hope to come back in January.

Yelp
Today was my first visit to the Mountain View Grand, for their Thanksgiving buffet. WOW, what an awesome property! I would absolutely love to return for a weekend stay to explore the grounds or just sit with a good book, taking in a world-class view. The Thanksgiving buffet was run like a well-oiled machine, and everything I tasted was perfect. All the staff members I encountered (bellhop/bartenders/buffet waitstaff) were very friendly and seemed like they really wanted to be there. The cocktails in the lobby tavern were particularly tasty! One caveat- this place appears to be super kid-friendly (I don't have kids but like them just fine!), almost to a Disneyland-type vibe. If you ain't down with kids running wild, might not be the place for you! I'm looking forward to returning to the MV Grand!

Yelp
Stayed here for 2 days, Spa was amazing, food not so much. The restaurant was unappealing so we ate at the bar, the tennis courts were dangerous, dirty and a disaster. They need to clean up their act, get better food At least sunrise and sunset was worth the trip. Rant over

Yelp
My husband and I spent a total of three nights here and had a lovely time. The stars I've taken off are for the following: - we got a king size room with a mountain view ($380 a night) and the photos online had us expecting a much bigger room with gorgeous bathroom. I'll post photos of the difference - which was a bit disappointing considering the price. - spa treatments were really lovely. Hubby had a deep tissue massage and I had a facial. We both really enjoyed our treatments but his masseuse ended his very abruptly "mid stroke". I think he just wanted us to finish our treatments at the same time. - because it's an older building, there is soo much noise from above. We can hear our neighbours talking and walking as of the early hours of the morning so we were able to sleep in which was the part we were most looking forward to.

Yelp
The resort was under construction when we arrived but I was not aware ahead of time about the renovations. The bar/restaurant that I liked was being renovated and we were directed to the ballroom upstairs, which was disappointing to say the least. The rooms were nice and the staff were friendly but a little annoying walking through the lobby while construction was going on. The hotel sent me an email requesting my feedback, to which I replied and have not heard back from them.

Yelp
*Note: 4.5 star review* My partner and I stayed here for a White Mountain foliage getaway to relax and spend some time together. We were impressed with the excellent deal we got on Expedia for the two nights we stayed. The check-in staff was kind and helpful at the front desk. When we arrived at our room, we loved the cozy feeling and great view of the mountains from our window. Of note is that we found some stains (looked like makeup) on our white bedsheets. Not a super big deal but I wouldn't expect such a high-end hotel to keep stained sheets. During our stay, we enjoyed the cocktails, food (highly recommend the Delmonico steak and the big pretzel!), and room service from the Harvest Tavern. The bartenders were quite nice and made fantastic cocktails. Excellent and extensive drink menu. We were blown away by all of the food items we ordered. I will agree with other reviewers who mentioned the high cocktail prices- they were usually worth it though! We also enjoyed the fur-farm on premise and visited twice during our stay. During the evenings, we enjoyed cocktails on the porch and lawn watching the sunset and looking at the foliage. We loved seeing the weddings on premise as well. The complimentary coffee/tea/hot chocolate/apple cider bar was excellent- I did notice that not everyone wore gloves when using the self-serve dispensers. At the end of our trip, I treated us to massages at the Tower Spa. The spa area was quite impressive and we enjoyed our massages very much. Overall, this resort has it all! It was an excellent getaway even with some of the features of the resort unavailable due to COVID precautions. This was the perfect time to visit the White Mountains (peak foliage) and the resort was in a great location to view all of the excellent changing leaves. So impressed and we will be back!

Yelp
must be new management. Tried to change my reservation. "no can do". I have a special deal which I know can't be cancelled but every other hotel in the ownership group has been flexible.I had a family issue and only asked to move it 1 day. she didn't even look. "no can do" Final nail in the coffin. We asked for a late checkout- 12:30. my husband and i are paying $400 for the tower in the spa and we don't get out until 12:00. I asked if I could have a 12:30 checkout so we could go to the room to change quickly after the session. "no can do" unless we want to pay for a second night. really $400 for a 1/2 hour when I just spent $400 in the spa! for those of you that buy the cyber specials, leave this one off your list. every other place especially the shelter harbor inn, has been incredibly accommodating. Shame on you Mountain View. Clearly, workers have a rule book to follow. not a great experience. not coming back. Restaurant was average food although good service. The trash bucket in the room was full of trash when we arrived which made me wonder if the sheets were clean.

Yelp
We stayed here for a short winter weekend getaway for Valentine's Day & that was just not long enough! The resort was beautifully situated amidst a quiet mountain town facing peaceful & breathtaking mountain view's. We didn't get to try the pool or any activities but there is a lot to do if you like winter activities like snowmobiling, tubing etc. Family activities. There is a little farm on the property with chickens, alpacas and such. There is also a lot of events and things to sign up for depending on the time of year you visit. -Restaurants- Harvest Tavern- For our arrival lunch and breakfast the next morning the Harvest Tavern boasts a beautiful picture window showing off the mountain view. The food was good, I had a chicken salad wrap for lunch and standard eggs, home-fries and toast breakfast. I never did get the honey I asked the waitress for at breakfast though. No big deal. Prices average for a resort stay. The 1865 Wine Cellar was stellar! We had an awesome table situated in this little private alcove. The whole place is covered in walls of wine racks. It's beautiful with ambient & romantic lighting. Our waitress Prim/Prin/Pram... sorry I cant quite remember her name, but she was awesome. The bread came with regular and maple butter and it was delicious. For an appetizer I had the Farmer's Market vegetable soup which was so flavorful. My husband had the bisque. I had the farm fresh chicken dish and my husband had the steak. -Room- Our room had a view facing the mountains and partial resort view. It was a cozy room and definitely made you feel nestled in. Everything was clean and updated yet still had the older charm of the original hotel. (Creaky floors lol) Room did get a bit stuffy because we turned off the ac since it was winter, but leave the air on to circulate. Very quiet. -Tower Spa- The spa was very nice looking, it was super clean and relaxing. We did the "Chroma Tub". Only one person at a time in the tub though, no couples experience for that service. I get why....lord knows what people might do...hehe. The chroma tub is huge if you're petite like me! It boasts powerful, full body jets! The jets were so powerful it was a bit overwhelming at times for me, I kept being pushed towards the end of the tub and if let go I could sink down because it was so deep for me lol. It gets hot, but about the same as any standard hot tub so it was just right. My husband was fine since he's a taller human. It was relaxing, but they took a very long time in between our turns. We waited over half hour for my husband to go in after me. i'm assuming they have to wipe the tub for sanitary purposes and drain it and everything but the appointment was supposed to be one right after the next. I think you'd be better off with a couples massage if you were going with significant other. Overall, we had a really nice trip and definitely want to go back again for a few days so we can enjoy everything this resort has to offer!

Yelp
I really wanted to give my experience 5 stars. I would have until today. Reason for 4 stars: 2 times my keys would not work so I had to schlep down to the lobby with my hands full to get new keys. The 2nd time the bellman accompanied me to make sure I could get in. Upon entering, my room was not cleaned. I didn't leave the do not disturb sign on my door and would have asked for more shampoo each time I was down in the lobby. I ran Fallen Waters trail today and was exhausted by the time I got back to the hotel. So this was really just an inconvenience. Reason for 5 stars: llamas, alpacas and goats. Front desk, farm staff, room service and bar staff were very nice.

Yelp
Stayed this past week with the wife and our two young boys ages 8 & 10. This hotel location is great if you want to get away from the busy areas such as North Conway or Lincoln. It is very quiet and close to a Santa's village as well as Clark's trading post. Being that we are going through such tough times with this pandemic, my family and I very much needed to get away but did not want to fly anywhere. We usually do a yearly trip to NH but wanted it to feel different to a certain extent. The hotel has a welcoming feeling and is getting close to needing updates as far as cosmetics. We had a basic two bed room which did not include a refrigerator or microwave. The room was very small. The safe didn't work and the room temp was hard to control even with a thermostat. The beds were not the best and the pillows were horrible. Woke up with a kink in my neck and shoulder every day. We had to pay extra for a small dorm size fridge for the week which you would think for the price would be standard for any resort type of hotel. The game room is just a pool table (seen better days), a foosball table (missing ball) and an air hockey table (chewed up puck). People leave empty glasses there all the time. Not the hotels fault but signs should be posted for the adults who don't know better. In the US, all hotels are requiring people to use masks in all public shared areas which very few if anybody did. I see why the problem persists when it comes to this pandemic. The hot breakfast was a rare site and at first, we were all in. They had gloves at the table before you serve yourself and sanitizing stations everywhere. Then we saw, people wouldn't use either and would just continue to serve and talk over the food. That was the last time I ate there. So sad that my two young children wore masks, gloves, etc to protect others, yet other guests couldn't do the same for the rest of us. I asked the staff about telling people to use the gloves (they said they would look into it) but they did nothing. You couldn't order food to go outside and eat for dinner but you could order to your room which doesn't make sense. The dinner menu was also very limited. With that said, a hotel should be able to recommend areas to eat locally but they don't offer such information and it is very hard to find lunch/dinner on a daily basis due to some restaurants closing early and not being open on certain days. This place is at least 35-45 mins from good restaurants so keep that in mind when planning and call ahead to see if places are open or need reservations. Outside there is a small farm, great pool area (can get busy), adult ax throwing, a small soccer field area with run down nets, ladder golf, basketball court, tennis court, play ground, golf coarse and other outdoor games but nothing to brag about. There is a movie room that is closed in so we didn't use it. Didn't see any sanitizing by staff in any public areas so we felt we had to constantly walk around with hand sanitizer and masks. They do s'mores at night but do it before the mosquitos come out or it's a long walk back to the room as you get attacked. When we checked out I just wanted a cart to get my own luggage and bring it down but they pretty much make you feel like you have to use the bellman's service of holding the cart while you unload/load the cart because your on a hill and the cart will roll. This place wants to be a 5 star hotel and could be with a few minor details being fixed and cosmetic updates. Left a lot to be desired. I think next time I'll stay at the usual place we stay with a full kitchen and real refrigerator for the price (standard).

Yelp
We booked a Sunday evening reservation for 7:00 pm in the wine cellar. I am so glad when I booked that the woman on the phone told me to dress warmly, as it is a working wine cellar and can get chilly. The room is beautifully lit with 5 or 6 small tables. All far enough apart to be intimate. Our hostess was a beautiful, very attentive Hungarian woman who made us feel very welcome and also made it a point to wish my BF a Happy Birthday. Dinner started with an amuse bouche of lump crab meat, goat cheese, fried onion root, tobiko and a cold beet "broth" poured over at at the table. Beautiful presentation and the perfect amount of acidity to whet the palate. My first course of the duck confit was ok, a bit bland. The BF's Oyster mushroom first course however was outstanding. Smoky, crispy, buttery, woodsy with the perfect chew...he has coined the term "crunchewy goodness" to describe them and would eat them every day in vast quantities if it didn't cost a million dollars. The second courses of squab and mushroom ravioli were showstoppers. The Oyster mushroom made a brief appearance on the ravioli which made us both happy. The squab was cooked well with almost a livery sweetness. My entree of chicken was good but a bit salty-the wheat berries were such an interesting touch. The BF's skate was well prepared with more mushrooms and well seasoned potatoes. I would like to have that cremé brûlée everyday please and thank you. We had an opportunity to meet the chef after our meal in the Tavern, he is quite talented and humble. The restaurant is very lucky to have this star on their team. Overall the meal was very good, excellent service and romantic atmosphere. The staff made every effort to make the evening special.

Yelp
This is really an aggregate of the 3 dinners I've had here over the last few years, a private party for 10 we had last year and my lunch from yesterday. The Harvest Tavern is their bar / pub area and it doesn't show as independent on YELP. I originally stopped by just to get a gift card for someone but decided to eat something since I did just hike up Mt. Washington:). The lighting is terrible for the pictures, but I had some great Brussels Sprouts and French onion soup. The bartender was great and very friendly. I'm thinking of the restaurants were separated out from the resort the scores might be different.

Yelp
Breathtaking views with plenty to do surround the campus. Doorman/bellhops etc are incredibly pleasant and hard working. The farm is a great way to expose your kids to some farm animals and the people working the farm were too notch. So why two stars? The room: clogged sink and drain. Had to ask 3 times for service. First 3 nights showers and tooth brushing were disgusting. Other than that room was fine. Room service: think frozen pizza microwaved. Do not get it. Wait staff: had a few unpleasant ones annoyed we ordered juice with breakfast(or something?) Most importantly: My kids fell in love with camp yellow lama. Where they do activities etc. They were excited to make t shirts so at a premium signed them up for that while the wife and I had dinner. THEY HANDED MY KIDS TO PEOPLE NOT ON THE CONTACT LIST. During the camp they went to the firepit where they happened to know people there who they allowed to sign them out!? These people were not mentioned anywhere! It would be like a stranger picking your child up from daycare.
