Mountain View Hotel Lalibela

I recently spent two nights at the Mountain View Hotel in Lalibela, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. The moment we arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality that instantly made us feel welcome. The view from the hotel is truly breathtaking — you can see the stunning mountain landscape stretching as far as the eye can see, especially beautiful during sunrise and sunset. It’s the perfect spot to relax and take in the natural beauty of Lalibela. The customer service was exceptional. Every member of the staff was attentive, friendly, and always eager to assist with anything we needed, from arranging transportation to offering local travel tips. Their kindness and professionalism really made our stay special. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and well-maintained, offering all the amenities we needed for a relaxing stay. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was peaceful and inviting — a great place to unwind after exploring the historic rock-hewn churches. In short, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I highly recommend the Mountain View Hotel to anyone planning to visit Lalibela. You’ll find great service, comfort, and quality in every detail. I’ll definitely stay here again the next time I visit!

The hotel is very well located in Lalibela. The food was excellent and the staff were all top notch. The breakfast buffet was simple but more than adequate. I loved having made to order eggs or omelettes each morning. I was with a group and we had several lunches and dinners here which were all delicious. The hotel is quite old and the rooms in need of renovations (bathrooms and power outlets). I was with a group and several had issues with outlets and sinks. All rooms have a terrace. There is a rooftop terrace which was great for some meals. Good Internet/WiFi.

Mountain view is absolutely right. Remember that Lalibela was controlled by Tigray from 2020-22. Lalibela is still recovering from that tragedy. Several hotels and restaurants still have not re-opened. Everything about this hotel is awesome! Staff, rooms, meals, etc. It's a great choice if you are visiting Lalibela (-:

The staff were truly outstanding—warm, attentive, and always ready to help. The food was excellent, with every meal exceeding expectations. The location and views were simply breathtaking. Without a doubt, this is the best hotel in Ethiopia. I had an unforgettable stay and a wonderful time.

This hotel has a great view as is written in the other reviews, but that is probably the only good thing about this hotel. Other few hotels just next door have the same view as well. I know this hotel looks good in the pictures, but the reality is a bit different. The hotel is not isolated as it might seem in the pictures, there are few hotels just next door with similar view. However, the hotel is in a quiet area which is nice, I have to say.||We stayed here 2 nights and experienced poor service. The rooms are a bit tired, the cleanliness is O.K., nice balcony, but the bathroom is really very basic, not very clean and tired too. The pressure of water is zero when your neighbor in next room is having a shower. So imagine that you are standing soaped in a shower and suddenly there is no water that you can wash with and you have to wait next 10 minutes while somebody else in other room will finish his shower. Really „funny“.||The breakfast is a joke. Not even simple. Some coffee that you might wait for 15 minutes and scrambled eggs plus some not fresh brad (probably from previous days).||There are definitely better options in Lalibela than this hotel.

Mountain View hotel says it all in the name. They have a Beautiful Mountain View from a deck designed to view a 360 degree of the breathtaking mountains at round. We went twice once for dinner and early morning to have our morning coffee and breakfast. Food was nice and staff were very friendly. I highly recommend for someone who visit Lalibela to check Mountain View. I didn’t stay at this hotel so I can not review the hotel rooms.

This is a beautiful building with a gorgeous view. The staff was all really nice. The room itself was a bit run down, we had to ask for toilet paper and the shower could only get too hot or too cold. But it was comfortable and the balcony was large with a great view. The wifi did not work the entire time we were there, which is rough when you're relying on it for any communication with guides, etc.
