What a place !!! If you love nature, photography and painting that’s the best place to go. Only Card payments accepted. The gift shop offers beautiful items. Make sure to bring water and food if you are planning to spend time there. They have a different locations where you can seat around the garden. You will be able to see airplanes flying over the gardens and take beautiful pictures.

Google
I've been wanting to visit for a while and did not disappoint. The garden was beautiful, really enjoyed the animal sculptures and art work throughout the place. The beautiful garden was also very nice and we definitely fed the fish. It took us about an hour to walk through the whole place, we went during the week and basically had the place to ourselves.

Google
Found this botanical garden and knew immediately that it was a must-visit. The variety of plants, tropical trees and overall scenery are all peacefully breathtaking. The staff here take meticulous care of the entire garden and it’s felt throughout every inch of this property. We didn’t even know that we could have a picnic here so we’ll definitely be planning another trip again.

Google
We had such a great time exploring the gardens as a family. It is well maintained and unique plus they allow picnics and photography. We enjoyed all the frog statues around the gardens and feeding the fish. The gift shop had adorable items at reasonable prices. We picked up some wooden frogs to take home. We will definitely be back in the future. We are not local but those that are might want to look at membership pricing.

Out & About

Google
What a beautiful garden! I didn’t know of Mounts until a friend mentioned it recently. So today I came out for their quarterly plant festival and sale, which one of my new favorite festivals. The gardens itself spans acres and acres and must have over 500 varieties of plants and flowers. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing, and inspiring morning or afternoon, definitely put mounts on your bucket list.

Google
It was a lovely day to be in the garden. This beautiful outing with my family allowed us quiet time together. My husband & son loved seeing the planes fly over. Great foe romantic walks and nature lovers.

Google
Great gardens in weird airport industrial park area, once your in the garden none of that matters. Great collection of tropical trees and other plants. Some real nice scenes and water features, great designs and plant combinations. Nice layout overall, paths were good and staff were helpful/ pleasant.

Google
Such a pretty botanical garden. Small but so worth it. As I begin my journey with plants, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing them in the wild. The staff are amazing and so friendly.

Yelp
Our daughter and son-in-law moved from Jacksonville to West Palm Beach for a new job a few months ago. While we were down here visiting our daughter suggested we go to Mounts Botanical Gardens. Wow this is a nice garden! We loved it as well as our grandkids. A lot of times when my wife and travel with our Rv we always try and fine a botanical garden in the area. This garden has a lot of shade which is nice when it's blazing hot. The garden has a lot of different varieties of flowers and tropical plants. We stayed here for about 2.5 hours. We could have stayed a lot longer but the grandkids were getting hungry for lunch. The garden closes at 4pm. I think if you arrive around 11am or 12pm and take your time walking around looking at the plants and fish in the ponds you can be done around 3 to 4pm. Definitely recommend the Mounts Botanical Garden!

Yelp
We've been here several times over the years, but I think my very old reviews have dropped off the Yelp site. I love botanical gardens and try to visit one wherever we travel. This one is over 40 years old and has grown. In the past we came here to explore and one time to sample various exotic fruits and vegetables that can be grown in Florida. This time we visited during the plant palooza. In addition to vendors selling various plants, there were also other things for sale -- like honey and jewelry, etc. Plus you could enjoy the regular gardens and take in the special exhibit of metal sculpted frog sculptures displayed throughout. It was hot even early in the day so we were glad we'd dressed appropriately. The gardens are about 20 acres and we walked quite a bit of it. I love seeing the vegetable and herb gardens alongside the wetlands area as well as all the trees and bushes. Some are tropical and some sub tropical and everything is marked. It was quite busy when we went. We never did make it to their gift shop, I'm sorry to say. Nor to any of the food vendors set up. And we could only walk so much without an occasional bench rest. We did get to see the bubble machine which some kids were enjoying running through. We talked to a lot of the plant vendors -- about their various offerings and got some good advice. And we wound up buying some herb plants and one key lime tree. If you haven't been, I might suggest you putting it on your "to see" list. It's educational as well as enjoyable. And convenient to access right off Military Trail.

Yelp
Plantapalooza ... Great event and multiple Plant and craft vendors. Saw lots of our favorites and bought five plants to try at home. Next event in April.

Yelp
The Rundown: A noisy garden that is surprisingly extensive variety of plants in an easy to navigate plan. The Review: I don't know what it is with FSU extensions, but this is the second one I've been to and both are immediately next to active airports. It is not their fault, so I won't rate on the constant airplane traffic but it is important to note that if you are seeking a place to get away and be one with nature you'll have to be okay with some very noisy airplanes constantly flying overhead. With that out of the way, the gardens themselves were very nice! I felt the layout was rather simple but very effective, providing a large variety of plants across different environments in a relatively smaller footprint. Even in the "winter" we were able to encounter active butterflies and hummingbirds showcasing the nature these gardens cater to! They have changing exhibits, currently it was the frogs which were cute and I can see kids enjoying keeping an eye out for them. The app itself was... Okay. Unfortunately signage everywhere needs work. The large directional signs, almost every one was rubbed off or severely faded (fortunately it's not difficult to navigate without signs). I did appreciate that even though it is paved with clear paths there were opportunities to feel like you're encountering a "secret" when going off bath. Things like stone staircase bringing you to a secluded table, or a wide grassy path where pleasant smelling tree flowers reached down to invite you. As for plant identifiers, for how nice the overall upkeep was I was surprised how poor the plant info was maintained. One sign was stuck within a plant that it was not even referring too. Definitely signage is my main critique and needs attention. Overall, for its location and size I was quite satisfied. The "water" walkways were my favorite! The staff we encountered were friendly and easy to talk to. It's certainly worth a visit if you're looking to support local gardening efforts.

Yelp
We visited Mounts Botanical Garden for the first time. We went to see the gardens as well as the Origami exhibit. We entered through the gift shop and bought our tickets, card only no cash. Entry is $30 or $18 for seniors. There are many paved and gravel walking paths. The was a QR code to scan for a map but after scanning we had to download an app which I did not do. There are different areas representing different ecosystems. The plants and trees are very well marked with their name and a brief description. There were markers throughout the gardens for a kids scavenger hunt Mounts is very close to Palm Beach airport and planes flew overhead head constantly. We spent just over one hour in the gardens. They have a very well stocked gift shop with garden items and tee shirts.

Yelp
updated: I do like the gardens . but the noise level at times is deafening. It is NOT a contemplative place which is disappointing because the wetting is so pretty

Yelp
This place is as good as it gets. Great walkable garden. Watch out for the herb and flower garden sales area in back corner. It is important to consider family membership. Really well worth it. Not only for repeat visits to Mounts but it gets reciprocal discounts all over the place I saved $100 in both the Atlanta Botanical Gardens and Fairchild gardens in Miami. Mounts itself keeps evolving year on year and season on season. Every visit you see something new.
google avatar

Catherine C.

Yelp
I love this garden and it's worth every penny to get the annual membership so you can bring a free guest. That's how I went and I was lucky enough to come when they were having shrubs for sale at half price. I got some lovely shrubs that have survived well. Have a nice gift shop. I really enjoyed myself.

Yelp
What a beautiful serene place to visit. Definitely buy the fish food in the beginning to feed the massive koi fish. If you're into Morikami, you will love this garden. So much to look at and many photo opps. Beware of the influencers in the wild but you can spend hours and hours here and have a lovely peaceful afternoon. The girls at the front counter are super sweet and the gift shop has some nice items! Do not miss the vegetable garden, you may see a plane flying overhead.

Brandon C.

Yelp
Great place, needs more benches. It's obviously not finished and needs way more exotic plants etc, because after the first half, it's just open space. Could use some tables and benches with shade covers of course. Florida is hot, very hot. Some more staff on hand, maybe in the park itself, vending machines? A little pit stop area maybe. Just suggestions. Apart from that, best botanical garden, blows murakami murky dreary vibe clear out the water
google avatar

Carol R.

Yelp
Nice garden with an impressive path through trees, plants and shaded areas. The plants and foliage were all clearly identified which led to a nice learning experience. Today was the beginning of the frog sculpture exhibit with fun metal frog characters scattered about the gardens.

Yelp
Walked in and the women at the desk were incredibly helpful and friendly. So nice I even told them it was nice to see people like their jobs. Well if you're Looking for a nice day trip , this's is it ! We had so much fun walking through the garden. Right now they have , I believes special for Mother's Day origami exhibit and it got it so good. It was so nice I had so much photos and just letting you know go, go now. See the mother day drunk

Yelp
Gorgeous grounds, very well kept. Made for a very nice afternoon. Easy walk for strollers or wheelchair.

Yelp
This is a beautiful botanical garden. Parking is free. You pay the entrance fee inside. You can also buy pellets to feed the fish. They have a really cool/nice gazebo in the garden that's a highlight there. It was nice to walk by the ponds and feed the fish. There are benches in the trail where you can sit and admire the garden if you like. They have different plants, trees and flowers throughout. The staff was really friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
Great views! Highly recommended for all ages. I, personally, could've spent a full day reading under the shade of the trees. Quiet and serene. This is a great way to spend time in nature without the nature trying to spend time with you.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a really lovely place to go to. Especially when the weather is cooler. In the summer it is quite unbearable. But nonetheless it's definitely a must see. The lady there told me that they are open even if it is raining. So there are no refunds. There is quite a bit of grounds to cover so it's best to wear comfortable walking shoes. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot. There's a lot to see

Yelp
We were so excited to finally check out Mounts botanical garden. We had seen pictures online that were absolutely gorgeous. We purposely waited for their free day to attend since the tickets normally cost $20 per per person. We were so excited and arrived promptly at 9 o'clock when they opened. There was also a very long separate line for the tree give away but sadly we didn't have a place to plant the trees so we went directly to the garden. Upon arriving, we were told in the gift shop that we needed to pay $20 per person because we did not get the free trees. Clearly, this didn't make sense. It was not listed on their website. It was not listed in their flyer. We assumed the people in the gift shop were incorrect and proceeded to the garden. A few minutes later a young man came to the garden to tell us that we had to get our free trees or pay. Fine, we walked back only to be advised that they had run out of trees. At this point I felt like I was in the twilight zone. According to these people In order to get free entry you have to get a free tree, but they were out of trees. After I showed the employees their own website and explained once again that I didn't want the trees but would take them if I had to in order to gain free entry and asked them to please produce 6 trees (I already knew they were out) they agreed it didn't make sense. I don't know if the intention behind this policy is to punish the PBC residents that are living in apartment buildings condominiums, or trailer homes but that is how it comes across. Do better!

Yelp
I enjoyed this garden on my trip to West Palm Beach this spring. The grounds are pretty large and it took a good 2-3 hours to walk through and enjoy. At the time that I went, the garden also had a special installation of Lego statues, which was great fun. The installation was amazing with many fun statues to discover through the grounds. The gardens themselves are very beautiful with many plant species to photograph and enjoy. There is also an herb garden and pond with fish and turtles for guests to feed. We purchased fish food at the entrance and were able to enjoy this activity as well. I recommend a visit to the gardens.

Yelp
Mounts Botanical Garden was named in honor of Marvin U. "Red" Mounts, who served Palm Beach County Extension and Palm Beach County farmers for over 40 years. He established the Garden's collection of fruit trees to help produce vitamin rich foods for local families. In 1954 the Mounts building was constructed and the garden was planted. By 1964 there were 69 fruit producing trees growing on site. Today Mounts continues with its mission to "inspire and educate through nature." Featured gardens include the Rose Garden, Garden of Tranquility, Tropical Foliage Border, Herb Garden of Well Being, Dry Steam Bed, The Pines, Signature Ridge, O'Keefe Rain Garden, Florida Native Garden, Butterfly Garden, Trail Garden, Bulb Garden, Gazebo garden, Great Lawn, Children's Maze, Edible Garden, Mediterranean Garden, Tropical Cottage Garden, Windows on the Floating World, Zimmerman Shade and Color Island, Tropical Garden, Light Tropical Shade garden, Begonia Garden, Sun Shade of Extremes, and Tropical Forest. The garden has many statues, bridges, benches, and water features among the plants. Mounts operates a small thrift store near the Edible Garden. I have been to Mounts Botanical Garden many times throughout the years for special exhibits. This time it was for Stickwork by environmental artist Patrick Dougherty. Stickwork is a massive all natural structure created on The Great Lawn using 30,000 pounds of live willow branches that volunteers took three weeks by hand to assemble. Over the last 30 years Dougherty has created more than 250 of these structures all over the world. Mr. Dougherty last exhibited at Mounts in 2019. I love how interactive piece the piece is. You can walk through it and children will think it is playhouse. It was so much fun to photograph. Stickworks is included in regular garden admission. In addition to stickworks, the garden is exhibiting Tropical Holiday Trees by Mounts. Three, 8-15 foot trees designed by the Mounts Horticulture Team were created out of bromeliads, orchids, and other tropical plants. My favorite was the orchid tree located near the old Mounts entrance. I enjoyed going on a scavenger hunt around the garden to find them. The trees are on display until December 31st and also included with the regular admission price. It is always a great day to visit beautiful mounts but it is extra special when they have limited time exhibits.

Yelp
Maybe it was the time of year. Maybe it was the fact that you could hear the planes taking off and landing and smell the jet fuel from the nearby Palm Beach Airport. Or maybe it was because we have visited so many lush gardens over the past few years, but we were underwhelmed. Mounts Botanical Gardens boasts 25 unique gardens spread over 14 acres. Our favorites were the new Moana exhibit with its oversized sculptures, the floating blue window in the Mediterranean garden and the Garden of Tranquility. Many of the other gardens seemed to run together and only a few flowers were blooming. The map was very helpful to try to figure out where you were especially as the main entrance is closed. Parking and entry are at the gate behind the Florida DMV. Admission is $12 with student, senior and military discounts. We used our Mercer Botanical Garden membership benefits for reciprocal admission. There is a light show for the holidays that seemed like a fun evening to see the holiday lights at night. Bring sunscreen and bug spray.

Yelp
I came for the special Lego exhibits throughout the gardens. It didn't disappoint. It was really cool to see the different sculptures and be able to learn about how each piece was made. We went first thing in the morning when the gardens opened. That was a good move. It wasn't too crowded or too hot. There's no food on property, but it would be cool to bring a meal with and enjoy a nice picnic at the picnic tables.
google avatar

Alexi Y.

Yelp
Been up in PBC but first time yo Mounts. Went on 2nd Sat when it's free admission. The morning was drizzly and cloudy. We made it through most of it with rain jackets and umbrellas. We saw 3 main attractions: Zen Garden, Island Statues, and Koi fish. Mini version of Easter Island Sculptures made perfect photo opps. You can get fish food at the front to feed the Koi. Unexpectedly, Catfish surfaced often to eat their food. There were also Turtles waiting for their share. It was a good 2 hr stroll.
google avatar

Roger S.

Yelp
The Garden should be open on Presidents Day. It would be the perfect get-away for families on this day when parents are home with their kids.
google avatar

Mike Z.

Yelp
The front entrance is under construction so a temporary entrance is next door through an old DMV building that could use a bit more signage and beautification. Parking is scattered and not too well marked. Even though it's probably not the Mounts organization's problem but the road to get to the gardens isn't pretty. I think with their landscaping expertise, they could help the city jazz up Military Trail to make it a little bit prettier entryway. The temporary entrance is under a tent and the docent recommended paying the $1 for the fish food. We couldn't agree more since that was the highlight of the garden for my 4 year old son. Once entered, the gardens is quite beautiful. All the trees and plants have signage with nice descriptions for the most part. The butterfly garden has a lot of butterflies . The koi pond with the turtles is really cool. We enjoyed feeding them and it was so peaceful aside from the constant flow of loud airplanes flying overhead. That is probably the only negative of this location. I would recommend earplugs from the noise of the planes. There is a garden store with very friendly volunteers that know their stuff. Perhaps we would return once construction is finished and some sort of special exhibit is happening.

Yelp
Lovely! Mounts Botanical Garden is Palm Beach County's oldest and largest botanical garden. It's 14 acres and it is home to more than 2,000 species of plants. I recommend getting there early. The admission price is $10 - very reasonable. It will take about 1 to 2 hours to walk the entire garden. It is a nice peaceful stroll. The grounds are well manicured and they have so many stunning flowers. I just love flowers! There are 25 unique themed gardens such as the edible garden, the butterfly garden, the Mediterranean garden, the tropical forest, etc. My favorite was the tranquility garden, which is a very serene Asian inspired garden. My favorite moment was taking a few minutes to enjoy Lake Orth, look at the koi fish, and admire the lily pads. 5 stars. It's not the largest botanical garden in FL, but it definitely has so much to see.
google avatar

Wendy B.

Yelp
I came here with my husband and my stepdaughter and the woman was very nice and explained to me about how they have a reciprocal program which is good for harness all across the country, she told us we could walk around and if we decide to do it at the end she'll apply the $30 towards the $75 yearly pass. So we paid for the three of us to get in $10 each. The garden was nice and big and a whole variety of different types of plants, trees, they even had an herb garden and edible trees that had star fruit hanging from them at the time we were there. They also have a maze made out of hedges as well as artwork that looks to be made out of twigs? Since we were paying $30 it made sense to go ahead and just pay the extra $45 to be able to go to gardens throughout the country. Some of them have to be in excess of 90 miles. So I'm not sure that will be able to visit many others but it was definitely a nice place just to walk around.

Yelp
We got to the Mount first thing in the morning, before it became crowded. We paid $10 admission each, were given a map and headed to the nursery in a back corner. I was able to find many exotic herbs, dozens of tables were well marked with ground cover, ornamentals, butterfly shrubs, succulents, garden books .... For a few days holiday gifts & ornaments were 50% off and nursery stock was reduced. We put our purchases in the car and wandered through the gardens. Each time I go to the Mount I discover new flowers or butterflies hidden, it never gets boring. We wore comfortable shoes and explored the 14 acre, 25 garden with more than two thousand tropical and subtropical plants and trees from Florida natives to exotic herbs, palms, cactus, bromeliads & tropical fruit trees. Cutting Corners Stickworks is a massive sculpture built by Patrick Dougherty from 30,000 cedar sticks. In December it was decorated with poinsettias and garland. Where there isn't a pandemic there are informative classes, lectures and gardening workshops. There are programs for children and adults, There is a large auditorium where classes meet as well as gardening clubs. This is the perfect setting for a wedding or photo shoot. The Garden is part of the University of Florida & the Palm Beach County Coop Extension. There is the Hutcheson Complex with offices, classes, and exhibit halls. I have telephoned and emailed a master gardener with questions about plants and gardening in Florida. The grounds are pristine, there is plenty of free parking, paths well marked for easy walking, clean rest rooms at both corners of the property. We spent about 2 1/2 hours wandering around here, perhaps if there were a food truck or cafe we would have stayed longer.

Yelp
This place is magical. It's so peaceful and enjoyable for a walk or just to sit and meditate. If you enjoy nature, this is the place to go. So many plants and trees. They also have a fruit and vegetable garden as well. Social distancing is practiced and most wore masks.

Yelp
I loved visiting this beautiful botanical garden not too far from Palm Beach International airport. There is a charge for admission but parking is free. They sell turtle and fish food for $1 in the gift shop so you can feed the koi and turtles. I highly recommend stopping by to stretch your legs before hopping on your flight home.

Ann F.

Yelp
After much uncomfortableness and confusion upon entering through the gift shop whereby entry was supposed to be Free due to give away trees which were gone by 8:50 am but establishment didn't open until 9:am. She then demanded $20 entry fee. After much disputing their advertising flyer verses their website access was then granted. Once all was resolved Mount Botanical gardens was a nice experience. Thanks for allowing me to rate my experience!

Yelp
Mounds botanical in Palm Beach County's oldest and largest public garden from its beginning as a horse pasture. Mounts botanical evolved into a horticultural learning center and became a public garden in 1978. Located just west fo palm beach international airport, the 14 acre garden is a hidden gem. Mounds has 25 unique garden areas with more than 2,00 species for tropical and sub- tropical plants and trees from Florida natives, to exotics , herbs, palms, cactus, bromeliads, tropical fruit trees, and a lot more. The entrance fee is 10 dollars and at the entrance you can purchase many interesting plants. We enjoyed walking and sitting down and relaxing at the beautiful garden. We bought several plants like the Chinese broccoli, Mint and tea plants. If you are in the area I encourage you to come visit this beautiful garden.
google avatar

Adriana R.

Yelp
This 40 years old garden is like a tropical oasis located in the city of West Palm Beach, but the only noise that will remind you of that is the planes landing in the adjacent airport. It's a vast garden (16 acres), so you can easily spend a few hours in there. Among all the plants and vegetation (all of them labeled with their names) there are also an herbs' garden, a "zen" area, a pond with fish and turtles that you can feed (you purchase the bag of food for $1 at the entrance), and a nursery that sells plants. It's a great place to go to relax (even during the hot summer), and a perfect one for photography. The second Saturday of the month, Palm Beach Residents enter for free: we will surely take advantage of that above all during the winter, and we will also keep an eye on the special event, activities and exhibits that the garden offers from time to time.

Yelp
Magical! Went during the lights festival with some family. Such a great experience for children and adults alike. Must of lapped the property that they had designated for the Christmas lights 3 times! That's how much my nephew was enjoying himself! Unfortunately I've only been here just once, at night, but will be returning during the day to explore the enchanting landscapes and pathways of manicured flowers and variety of trees!

Yelp
Took my girlfriend here a couple of weeks ago. Had a lovely morning discovering what was blooming! The sunflower garden is breathtaking. Looking forward to returning when the seasons change!
google avatar

Katelynn C.

Yelp
Loud/Smelly from planes The staff is super sweet, kind and helpful but unfortunately the grounds are desperate in need of more attention and water! I still think that the fact there is a huge garden to visit is worth a visit if for no other reason than to support this type of place and to get your kids into nature to connect and run free! Maybe the grounds seemed dry because of the month I went- who knows

David S.

Yelp
Manager denied us entry even though we arrived 2 hours before closing. Poor customer service. Go to one of the other gardens on the island.

Yelp
Visiting west palm beach for a day after a trip to Bahamas & needed a day activity. Entry was 10 PP so it came out to 20. But with military discount it came out to just 10! The garden was gorgeous and had many sights to see. Some were not so alive though lol There was a also a quaint shop with a lot of goodies to purchase and some drinks available if you forgot one :)

Yelp
Mounts is a great place to take in some nature as you stroll along the paths! A wide variety of greenery just asking to have its picture taken to be captured in the moment. You can hear a plethora of sounds too from leaves falling to lizards leaping, you might start thinking someone is following you along the path but its not, nature is trying to be one with you. The scenery is beautiful and makes for a great walking date or a quiet place to regroup and refocus. A $5 dollar donation is recommended but not required. The lady in the gift shop was nice and friendly and made sure we knew where the restrooms were located in case a bio break was needed. After we finished, I noticed that you can pay a dollar for a bag of food to fish they have in the pond. If you have some time to spare and need some exercise, Mounts is the place to visit!
google avatar

Yelp
They were having a special sale on Palms and Cycads at Mounts. It cost $5 to get in to the sale. After looking over the selection we walked around the gardens. The gardens have beautiful paths that allow you to admire a wide array of plants. They have a nice gift shop and the nursery was open with plants available for purchase. We also witnessed an engagement proposal by the waterfall. Very romantic spot

Yelp
Nice small beautiful garden good for locals but worth of a long drive, very pleasant staff. Nice for pictures

Yelp
Found this hidden gem while searching for nice places to spend outside with the dogs. Mounts Botanical Garden is a beautiful garden with hundreds of varieties of plants and trees to checkout. There's also a little butterfly garden which was my favorite! It was a special event that they hold twice a year that allows dogs, so not everyday, but we loved it and so did the dogs. We will keep a lookout for more dog days. Also, no retractable leashes allowed, we learned that the hard way. Lol Overall it's a peaceful lovey place with little trails and sitting areas throughout. Also if you become a member you have free entry anytime and reciprocal memberships at about 300 gardens throughout the country! Check it out when the weathers cool! You'll love it! Awesome.

Yelp
Disappointed. In a Southern climate where the growing season is long, I can't help but wonder why this place is such a mess. Weedy, unkempt, dried-up, with little care to creating exhibits that showcase blooms for all seasons. It seems far too long since anyone preformed basic maintenance here. The grounds are littered with plant waste from, what seems, an entire season. Even my garden at home is better maintained. At least for us, this place wasn't worth the time or price of admission.

Yelp
Amazing, amazing, amazing! So eye pleasing and relaxing just walking around this place! Love the houses made out of sticks! Went to attend a plant show there a few weeks back and the turn out was much bigger then I thought! Definitely want to return when the crowd isn't there!

Yelp
Mounts Botanical Garden is a great place to wander around and explore, and THE place to go to learn about tropical plants when in Palm Beach County. The almost-always-open nursery will allow you to bring home a piece of paradise. The small gift shop is sweetly stocked with unique gifts, including toys, books and jewelry. Truthfully, when I think of Botanical Gardens, I think of manicured English estate gardens, but Mounts does not meet this stereotype AT ALL! Mounts is lush and fragrant; the plants spill over with flowers, seeds, leaves and fruit, decorating the sidewalks and lawns and giving Mounts a decidedly un-manicured effect. This is part of what makes it comfortable for me. I've always felt comfortable to touch and feel here, and who doesn't want to do that when there are so many strange fruits tempting you- jack fruit and elephant apples among them. My son loves it here. There are so many wondrous things to see and observe, so many seeds and leaves to examine, so many pebbles and mulch pieces to clutch in his little hands! Who needs playground equipment when there are paths to explore, a maze to navigate, footbridges to cross and butterflies to chase? He especially loves the herb garden, where a flowing fountain tempts him and his parents can sit and watch as he turns the circular paths. It wouldn't be South Florida without something weird, so the part of Mounts to embrace and giggle at is the fact that it lies directly in the flight path of Palm Beach International Airport. Prepare to hear the loud obnoxious swarm of jets and view the surreal giant planes from above the tops of the beautiful landscape you inhabit. I was going to dock Mounts an entire star for this, but then I realized . . . it's just ironic. After all, can't pretend you're in paradise lost here- nope- civilization roars above in a jarring way too often. A Carl Hiaasen moment! There's no food or drinks here, so bring your own. Picnic tables dot the park for your convenience, and I have noted a couple of water fountains here and there. Bring your own bug spray too, as the only thing sold in the gift shop is a Deet-filled one-time-use wipe. Unfortunately, there are no scheduled tours, so navigation is entirely up to you.

Yelp
Does not look like much when you drive by but we you walk the gardens you say WOW-- you learn so much about all the vegetation. If I lived there I would be a Volunteer. It needs some upkeep but what a great place to do your daily walks. So peaceful and beautiful. I would join as a yearly member if I lived there. We enjoyed the fish in the pond. Great spot for your self or the family.

Yelp
Lovely garden. Walked through in about an hour but realized I missed a whole section. The second Saturday of the month, palm beach residents can enter for $5 instead of $15. Go early since it gets hot. Several picnic tables, so next time I'll bring lunch and lots of water.

Yelp
absolutely breathtaking experience in nature. the garden is beautiful in many ways. the only thing that made it harder to get the full beauty of the garden was the noises overhead from airplanes landing, but otherwise beautiful place!! all of the volunteers were such outstanding and king souls. will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Flowers and more flowers....Yes, can I please go there again?! I can not believe I missed this beautiful place while driving down on military trail drive. This garden/park is absolutely gorgeous and so fun to wander and walk around in. I was fortunate to hear about it from one of my friends. We spent a good two hours here but we were out of time, but if we could have, we would have stayed longer. The gift shop has a map/brochure of the entire place, please get one so you know all the areas within. Admission is $5 (suggested donation) but so worth the visit. I would also suggest putting on bug repellent spray because I got bit a few times while there. There are some gorgeous places you can take pictures of yourself or the pretty trees, flowers etc. There is a small airport a street or two away so you can capture some nice photos of airplanes flying over. I love the fact that there were so many kinds of flowers, trees, vegetables, fruits and more to explore. They have signs and descriptions of the different garden areas, very helpful to learn. They have beautiful sitting areas to really enjoy this nice hidden botanical garden. If you have a few hours to wander outdoors/ and your in the area, head over to the Mounts botanical garden.~
