I’ve stayed at several Mövenpick properties in different cities, and Chiang Mai stands out as a unique case: an older, somewhat dated property that is truly elevated by its exceptional service and hospitality.
The lobby is pleasant enough, but the rooms and amenities feel a little outdated and dark. I was kindly upgraded to a suite, which was spacious, though the design and layout could benefit from modernisation. It’s not bad by any means, but a refresh would make a big difference.
What truly sets this property apart, however, is the staff. Their attention to detail and genuine care for guests is exemplary. From the moment I checked in, I was greeted by name, and later that evening, when I forgot my room number, a staff member immediately recognised me and recalled my details without hesitation. That level of attentiveness is rare.
Management also extended a thoughtful gesture by providing a bottle of red wine as part of my Diamond privileges, which I appreciated. But what really impressed me was the proactive service during the evening cocktail hour. Nuchy, the Guest Experience Manager, noticed I preferred sparkling wine and personally offered to swap the red wine for sparkling if I wished. This kind of initiative and personalised care is outstanding and speaks volumes about the team’s commitment to guest satisfaction.
Special thanks to Nuchy and the entire team for making my stay memorable. While the property itself could use some modern touches, the service here is world-class and more than compensates for any shortcomings.
