I had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Movie Colony Hotel in Palm Springs. From start to finish, everything was perfect. The location is fantastic—just a few blocks from downtown, yet tucked away enough to feel peaceful and relaxed.||The hotel itself is beautiful, with a charming patio and a cosy pool area that made it a joy to relax. Waking up to the sound of singing birds every morning was a nice treat too!||The staff is kind, always smiling and genuinely helpful. A special thank you to Nate, the Operations Manager, who went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. He kindly upgraded me to a lovely suite to accommodate my longer stay, and it made all the difference.||My only regret? Having to leave. I’ll definitely be back.

The first weekend in May of 2025, my girlfriend, who lives in LA, and I - from AZ - got together for a Palm Springs adventure. We chose the Movie Colony Hotel because it's adults only (very quiet), centrally located for restaurants, and, most of all, dog friendly. Our stay was amazing. I brought my two dogs with me - not small dogs - and they were totally welcome, and both our rooms had private patios, which was so convenient for me with my dogs. They could go outside onto the patio, and not be harnessed and leashed, and I was able to sit out there and relax while they hung out. The rooms are very nice, and, did I mention - quiet? The pool area is very nice, and, well...quiet. They provide a continental breakfast and a wine and cheese get together in the afternoon. We loved our stay there!

A great find to break journey from Morro Bay to Phoenix... So glad we did!!!! A welcome break after the LA traffic and so glad we didn't attempt straight to Phoenix. A lovely comfortable duplex room with large balcony.... V quiet - both in terms of location and other guests... Handy for main strip of palm springs... About a 10 mins walk... Pool was soooo welcome... In 110°f the AC was working hard but was ok once temp increased a bit. V comfy beds... And a nice, if basic, continental breakfast... So good we changed our plans and stayed final 2 days of our holiday here!!!!

Hotel rates in Palm Springs were ridiculous with many hotels charging more than $400 a night. This one seemed more reasonable. The pictures and the website promised mid-century style and luxury. The reality was a bit less glamorous. |The location was good - walking distance to downtown. We had a spacious suite with a large patio overlooking the pool. The mattresses were comfortable.|Unfortunately, the room was not well maintained. There were stains and tears on the couch. Behind it we saw somebody’s hair. The air conditioners were old and noisy.|Wifi was flaky and didn't work well upstairs. The windows were not well insulated, so there was a lot of traffic noise from the street. The layout of the suite was not practical. Despite lots of space there was no desk and a small TV was too far away from the couch.|When we arrived, we didn’t check the alarm clock. The staff didn't check it either, so it woke us up at 6 AM. |The free continental breakfast was mediocre and was not available before 9 AM on some days (8 AM the rest of the week). Fortunately, there was a good cafe across the street|This hotel would probably be adequate for a group of students on a break. We will look for something better next time.

Google
Hotel is in great location but pool area lacked character. Staff was very nice. Unfortunately had a plumbing issue the first night. Fortunately the neighboring hotel sent their maintenance since The Movie Colony’s front desk closes at 8pm. Separate from the plumbing issue, there was… •a rotten egg smell in our bathroom that was off -putting. •The water was undrinkable as it was not clear out of faucet (see attached photo) yet we were only provided 2 teeny tiny bottles of water upon check-in and no other water was provided the entire time we were there. •We were provided one robe for two people. I wore the robe on the first night yet it was removed when they cleaned the room the very next morning and no robes were provided. No idea why it was removed as I was looking forward to wearing it again. •the couch was badly ripped •the footstool was filthy For over $400/night, I expected more and personally will not be back

Nate was THE MOST AMAZING HOST we have ever had. He made everything better…. The accommodations were made to fit. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR HOSPITALITY TO MAKE OUR STAY AMAZING…. without you, our stay, including with my brother, and his girlfriend would not have been the same.

Google
A clean, cute boutique hotel that surpassed our expectations. Pool, hot tub, outside sitting area at night with a fire pit, continental breakfast each morning and wine and cheese each afternoon. An extra treat was ice cream brought to us one day around the pool.|Nate and Selena are gracious hosts and so helpful. We will be back.

Google
My new favorite place to stay in Palm Springs. The room was so cute and opened up to the pool/hot tub area. Daily happy hour was a great time to mingle with the other guests either in the lobby or by the pool. The staff was friendly and helpful. And Nate at the front desk was a delight. You can always tell how good a hotel is by how they handle a problem. There was an issue with the pluming in our room. We were moved to another room while ours was being fixed and then back to a spotless room for the rest of our trip. We will definately be staying here again.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful mid century modern hotel, with an excellent eclectic remodel. Immaculately clean and maintained. Perfect, restful, very small hotel with limited amenities but friendly and accommodating staff. Great bar area outdoors, but is not always open. outdoor seating areas are lovely and peaceful (at least in winter). Welcoming of our 2 very well behaved giant dogs (Great Danes)

Yelp
Stayed here in a suite and here are the goods and not so goods: The Good: *prime location in Movie Colony. My favorite area in PS. Also close to Uptown PS which is also a great area to be near. *if you like walking through textured and historic neighborhoods, it's located right there. *small property so never a ton of guests. *free parking The Not So Good: *the rooms are very old and not fresh *the road noise from Indian Canyon is very loud. Sounded like a car was in my room *security to both the property and rooms and deck doors are a joke. Not secure at all. *the toilets and plumbing are out dated. With warning signs to not flush much. *the towels are old and small *the AC window unit(s) don't really cool the room and are VERY loud when on *most of all, you'll see NO staff at all. We had to check in at Triada property next door and their front desk staff were a bit thrown off as were we. Literally nobody to talk to and even the subsequent days had no staff. Super odd. *I would not pay more than $120 for these rooms and that's generous. *it's a niche hotel not a boutique property. *tvs are cheap with no good speakers. Where's my Netflix as I won't stay at a hotel without Netflix log on option.

Yelp
Cute, small boutique hotel in north downtown PS. Great walking distance from many eateries, upscale to casual. Mid-mod inspired decor, quaint and simple. Rooms could be a little cleaner, specifically the room walls and corners of the shower. Gaps on the doors of many rooms need weatherstripping. You can see under or in through the cracks to most rooms. Not bad, but does need some attention.

Yelp
For my daughter's 21st birthday, they upgraded us to the two-story suite and we had the best time ever. It was unexpected and entirely wonderful. Was just there again for Christmas - needed a space separate from family/friends gathered in an overcrowded AirBnB - and it was perfect. Love the firepit space and the quaint outdoor bar. Quiet, calm, charming, romantic, a little melancholy with the holiday music. We will be back.

Yelp
Do not stay here! You can get a much better hotel for the same money. My fiancé and I booked this because of the TripAdvisor rating. We couldn't have made a worse choice. First: the lobby was closed and we had to check in at the hotel next door (not a big deal except that the workers there were complaining about dealing with this hotel) The room: Everything was dirty, stained or broken. Floors weren't vacuumed. There were stains or substantial blemishes on EVERYTHING. There was a sliding mirror, that was almost falling off the wall, just there to cover up a window. Large scratches on the wall because of it. The front door has a large gap around it that we literally watched a bug crawl through. The sliding bathroom door was on crooked and left a few inch gaps when "closed" If this room was $50-$65 I wouldn't have cared or minded, but at $200 it was a massive waste of money. I will actively tell people not to come here

Yelp
Boyfriend's review: Lobby is cute, bed was comfortable, felt clean. Design was good. My review: Friendly late night check in at the sister property. Quiet night, the room had everything we needed: modern updates with the 60's era bones. The pool guy cleaned the pool between 8-9 am. Looking good! Towels, floaties, noodles. They kept our luggage behind the counter while we explored downtown, across the street from Jefe coffee and our favorite art store: Shag. Continental breakfast was nothing I could eat: the yogurt had lots of sugar, no fruit, no protein, slices of bread, English muffins, pastries, boxes of cereal, no decaf coffee. But we had an amazing breakfast at the next door Mirasol, problem solved!

Yelp
My boyfriend picked this hotel for our one night stay for a quick weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary. Our deluxe king room was nice and included a private balcony that I wish we'd have had more time to enjoy. As is, we were pretty much only in the room to sleep and the king-sized bed was comfortable. We took about an hour in the mid morning to relax by the small pool and wished we could just stay poolside all day as the temperature quickly climbed into the 90s, even in early November. The fact that the hotel is adults only and there weren't splashing kids in the pool was a big plus! The hotel is just within walking distance to downtown Palm Springs with about a .5 mile walk to the main strip. Perfect for enjoying a warm evening but probably long enough to break a sweat during the heat of a desert day.

Yelp
Love this place! It's our go-to every time we visit Palm Springs. Staff is friendly and the privacy is great. We were there during the week and had the pool to ourselves most of our stay. It's also very close to downtown and the casino. Always a great stay!

Yelp
This place blows. No staff during night hours, lobby is closed. To come imo to the property, you would have to walk through the side gate in the pool area. . Have to contact the business next door to get anything or have questions. The lobby does not open till 9am. No ice buckets in the room. How do you get ice??? I really don't know what's so great about this place. I also realized, they do not refund if you cancel your stay. I would not return nor recommend. We should have booked with Margaritaville Resort. Notice the resort when driving-by and it looked amazing outside. Did not go inside but I would say with confidences, it would be better compared to this place. I see no difference with this place compared to motels on the side of freeways/highways. Don't let the cleaver name fool you.

Yelp
Front desk & manager are sooooo rude & unprofessional, I booked room with private patio, they gave the room to another guest, with very bad attitude said if you argue with us we gonna call police & refund your money , no option, they don't care about guests at all . If you read my message just let you you guys are sooooo rude & I'm so sorry for you Not recommended at all

Yelp
Stayed here 10-12 April...comfortable property and friendly front desk.If you're a light sleeper stay elsewhere as our a/c unit wasn't cold enough and noisy. Unit was replaced 2nd day but even noisier.Same a/c boxes in all rooms. Great location and next door excellent Mexican restaurant, El Mirasol. Front desk only opens at 9am and still no one there,as always out for 10+ mins as per sign,as we tried to checkout that time. No bar or restaurant on property and if you need assistance before 9am or after 6pm, you need to walk across to sister property. Won't stay here again, until they update their dated A/C boxes.

Yelp
We are very disappointed with this hotel for a myriad of reasons. We came here right after getting married and left early because we were so dissatisfied and could not relax here. I will list them below followed by a few decent things because it wasn't all horrible. First frustrating thing was we were not given a room pictured when making a reservation on their own site. We reserved the King Suite because it was pictured as a two story room. This was important to us because we didn't want anyone stomping on the floor above us. We were instead given Room 12, a one story suite with rooms above us. Guess what, there was a person stomping above us late at night and early in the morning. Second misstep, was the room wasn't ready and it was an hour past checkin time. Not a huge bother, but when we walked in later, it smelled so strongly of bleach. That smell was so pungent and would not diffuse at all. Third problem, the room is right next to a Mexican restaurant that plays music. The conversations by the patrons there are all audible and feels like we are at the table next to them even though all the windows were closed. The music was left on all night by mistake there and it was one of the reasons we had a horrible night of sleep. The main issue we had though was that the walls keep no sound out. The hotel is right on a busy road and you hear and feel every car pass by. I have been to motels next to busy roads that have done a better job blocking the noise. We could not sleep a wink because of this. We had an idea of turning on the AC (wall units) to try and drown out the noise. We set a temp and thought that would be good white noise. Nope! The AC unit would only turn on for a minute or less then turn off because the temp would have been reached. Then it would turn on again 3 minutes later for another minute. Hearing this thing reset and start up again every few minutes was worse than the noise outside. It needs a better temperature threshold instead of trying to fix the temp every time it changes 1 degree. The room looks mostly clean though. It definitely smelled clean because of all that bleach but that isn't a great thing. The best part was the bathroom. It looked very nice and felt comfortable. One awkward thing about it is that it has an inexplicable cutout in the all with an outlet in it. I cannot figure out what this is for. Such a weird design. Check out the pic. Oh and the water comes out cloudy from the faucet. I let it pool up in my hands and it was opaque. I couldn't see through it at all. The next morning, we went out to the courtyard for the provided breakfast. We were there with another couple waiting around because no one showed up to put the food out. We left at 9:15 to figure something else out while they waited behind. Hopefully they ate. A positive of the place is how clean the pool and spa were. It smelled clean and the water felt great. The spa jets were awesome and powerful. Sadly we couldn't fully enjoy it because of the noise of the traffic seeping in. It was better at night when the traffic was better but not enjoyable during the day. The staff was nice albeit a bit awkward. I don't want to hate on this place, because it's not all bad. It just was a horrible place to stay after getting married. It's not relaxing and it's impossible to get sleep. We weren't given the room shown on their own website. Too many things wrong. Also, even though the room looked clean, you could see the parts where they missed completely. It wasn't just one time either, some parts had caked on dust that had clearly been there for a while.

Yelp
Had a wonderful one night get away at The Movie Colony. We always look for smaller boutique hotels then the bigger ones...more charm and uniqueness. Movie Colony was wonderful! We had a nice room, the pool was great and the other hotel guests were delightful! Nate gave us an early check in and was super friendly and accommodating. They have a complementary wine and cheese in the lobby at 4pm-4:30. Nice spot to hang and have some snacks and vino, and even better when it's complimentary! We will def be back!

Yelp
Had a nice 4th of July week stay. Ultra small casual hotel. Checked in after 5:00 pm across street at other adjacent hotel lobby. No big deal for me. I see some reviews sniveling about that. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were in room #29. Front door opens to pool area. This room was nice. Two levels. Living room downstairs and shower, bedroom and outdoor patio at top overlooking pool area. Very cool setup room etc. My only beefs, two of them, would be the pool water temperature was too hot/warm. Not really refreshing. And the air conditioner was too noisy as a lot of the other reviews also state. That being said, I can certainly deal with these minor inconveniences. I'm not an ass high maintenance traveler. The location is great. Mike or less from the heart of downtown Palm Springs.

Yelp
Thank you so much Nate at Movie Colony for making our stay extra special! We had a wonderful time here- great service, nice rooms, awesome pool. The wine and cheese happy hour was delightful!

Yelp
Ants in room, dirty pool, no staff on property, dirty grounds, leaves from trees are everywhere and clear sign of no one who has swept them up in MANY days, dirty lounges around the pool, cracked in ceiling, water damage stains around the door. The little private area with the room was overshadowed with dead trees, a white dingy painted aluminum fence, tons of fallen dead leaves and dirty chairs and a tiny table. Street parking only, no lot. A bartender asked us where we stayed, we told him of how we had to leave Movie Colony, he already knew of the rif-raf the hangs there and was glad we got somewhere clean. This hotel is owned by Triada Hotel across the street from it, which is FABULOUS! We ended up booking a room there and getting out of that MOVIE COLONY PLACE. It is a shame that the Triada Hotel lets Movie Colony go to such a decline. YUCK!!! Do not be fooled by the photos. BUT shame it could be a really nice if cleaned...

Danielle R.

Yelp
We had a great stay here before, so at 9 pm when we discovered upon arrival that our AirBnb didn't have any running water this was the first place we tried. Finally some luck for the day- a room available for the two of us and our two dogs that we could check into 10 pm that night. In addition to our stay being great once again, the front desk allowed us a very late check out- 2 pm to keep us all out of the 105 heat until we could check back into the Airbnb. We really appreciate their kindness, flexibility, and nice comfortable hotel. We look forward to returning!

Yelp
Stood here for our anniversary and it was simply awesome. Nathan is a great host, mimosa at check in, the place is quiet and relaxing which my husband and I both wanted and needed. Wine, cheese and crackers in the afternoon, nice treats to have by poolside. We really enjoyed our stay.

Yelp
I had a great stay here it was just what I was looking for. It was in the Movie Colony neighborhood, it was very quiet, there were no bad ass kids running around, there was no loud music playing at night and there was no young drunk people at the pool. The MC was recently renovated so it was nice and clean. My room was very clean, nice and cool as I first walked in and it smelled good. I wasn't really expecting much seeing the price I paid but I was really impressed. Parking is very tight so keep that in mind or take an Uber if you're going out for the night. I would stay here again if I wanted to stay in this area. This hotel had everything I wanted and didn't want!!!

My 1st stay here & I will be back! Host Olivia went above and beyond to make my stay wonderful! Cute boutique hotel close to downtown with a beautiful pool & spa.

Yelp
Fly me to the moon Let me play among the stars Let me see what spring is like On a, Jupiter and Mars In other words, hold my hand In other words, baby, kiss me The paint was still wet on the staircase railing to our second floor room. The owners recently finished renovating this boutique hotel conveniently located on North Indian Canyon Drive, and the all-white exteriors and vintage-accented decor evoke 1950's Hollywood in a proto-Rat Pack kind of way. There are only sixteen rooms and they're just for adults, no kids. Jamie W. and I paid for a standard king room at $220 per night, a comparatively affordable rate by Palm Springs standards considering it was just a block away from the hubbub of activity on Palm Canyon. Our room had a nice large shower, though everything else was tightly spaced. Their dedication to period-authentic style had its downside. You could easily cut your fingers on the sharp deco knobs on the dresser drawers. The pool was small but serviceable (photo: http://bit.ly/2ut8eGM). I just wish they did a more consistent job cleaning it. The complimentary breakfast was a reasonable choice of fruit, yogurt, cereal, muffins, and bagels - though it was shameful how some of the guests left their garbage on outdoor tables throughout the complex. The reality was that the front desk staff is there only until 5PM and that you have to go next door to the Triada Hotel if you need after-hours service. All in all, even with the slight kinks, this was a genuinely pleasant stay. RELATED - Planning to go to Palm Springs? Here's a collection of places I've visited and reviewed: http://bit.ly/2uqw6KW

Yelp
We have stayed at this hotel several times and continue to enjoy it immensely. The location is amazing. You are a short walk away from several famous celebrity homes. Cary Grant and Frank Sinatra to name a couple. The hotel is adult only which makes the pool and fire pit lounge area quiet. Perfect get away for couples. All of the rooms are nice...but I would splurge for the two story with the private patio that overlooks the pool. We met Gonzalo the general manager who was very friendly and accommodating! Even with the Covid restrictions the staff and wonderful manager made our stay exceptional. We will definitely return.

Yelp
Amazing. Small boutique hotels like The Movie Colony are literally a dream. The room was immaculate. The staff were all nice and seemed genuinely happy. Nate was amazing and constantly bringing treats to all the guests. Room 27 will be my new home every time I'm in Palm Springs from now

Yelp
I totally understand there are many good reviews and horrible reviews. This is my point of view... We checked in yesterday. The front desk people are nice and friendly. We got a good impression. The property itself was cute. We reserved the room with a balcony which was nice. HOWEVER!! The room needs to be spotless clean when the new guests checks in. That is disgusting. I think the picture tells truth than words so I will post three pictures I took during my stay. I wanted to give two stars but since the friendliness of the staff I rated three.

Yelp
Sometimes plans change and can ruin a trip. Other times, plans change and it turns out to be one of the highlights of the weekend. The latter was the case for us this weekend. After our Airbnb turned out to be lackluster, we were forced to scramble to locate one night accommodations. Surprisingly, the Movie Colony had a room available that was very reasonably priced. Upon arrival we were thrilled by the proximity to downtown; an easy 10 minute walk to be in the middle of it all. But the location ended up taking second, third or maybe even fourth place on the podium. Nate, the operations manager, greeted us and was friendly, efficient and went above and beyond throughout our short stay. When we arrived, there was wine and cheese in the lobby from 4:00-4:30 which hit the spot after our scrambling. He also manned the complimentary continental breakfast and was readily available when any questions or needs arose. Though we didn't get to enjoy the hot tub or pool, they looked excellent and other guests certainly approved. Our room was spacious, clean and had every amenity we needed. If you don't need every bell and whistle of a thousand dollar a night resort, I cannot imagine there is a better place in Palm Springs to stay.

Yelp
I was so impressed by this place, no kids allowed, very quiet and peaceful vintage vibe. We had a late check in and had to walk next door, they were extremely helpful and checked us in immediately. Our room had a view to the pool and mountains, the inside of our King suite was very clean and comfortable, the outdoor terrace could be a lil cleaner but this is outdoors and you know floors will get dusty. The mini fridge was not that cold, plenty of ice downstairs by the pool. Great pool, clean and well maintained, it was warm when i stepped in as the weather was near 118 that day, yikes! Super dog friendly, dogs must be on a leash with you at all times, we loved our stay, the location is PERFECT!

Mariann O.

Yelp
We checked in the room and noticed long hair on the bed sheets as if they had not been washed. Room appeared to be clean. The patio was dirty and dusty and needed be swept from the tree leaves. There were 2 cockroaches in the bathroom. We checked out of the room immediately as soon as this surfaced as we felt very uncomfortable staying the night. We called front desk and they refused to refund our bill. We will not be returning to this hotel as the staff did not value our concerns.

Michelle M.

Yelp
Only stayed for one night but wish we could have stayed longer. Olivia was a great host juggling multiple tasks and still providing awesome service! Hope she is recognized for her hard work. Loved that the pool was heated, room was clean, overall we will be coming back.

Dan M.

Yelp
The very short version of this review is that we had a great time here and it truly exceeded our expectations. Nate at the front desk was very welcoming and had us checked in and walked us to our room about 5 minutes after we arrived. That was followed by a free wine and cheese happy hour, and an hour after that he showed up at the pool with free popsicles and ice cream for everybody there. My expectations lately have been that I'm going to be disappointed comparing what a property looks like to the pictures online, but our room was better than advertised, well decorated, and clean. Better lighting than much more expensive hotels, great shower, nice TV and AC. Truly just no complaints. We enjoyed the fact that it's a smaller property so it has a bit more of a laid back vibe. We often had the pool to ourselves and the fact of it being 21+ made the whole experience out there very pleasant. Guests here all kind of seem to be on the same page and are here to relax and have a good time. It is not a fancy hotel, but for what it is, they are executing at a very high level thanks to great design, staff, and management. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend!

Christy M.

Yelp
Just stayed there for a night loved it we will be coming back. No kids small little place Nate was great room was nice next time we will be staying longer

Yelp
I love all things mid-century modern and this hotel more than fits the bill! Clean, comfortable and colorful, the Movie Colony is, hands down, my favorite place to stay when I go to PS. While there is no restaurant per se on site, you can walk right next door to the Triad for a full service restaurant if you like. And, as you all know, PS is loaded with good restaurants. The guest rooms all have coffee makers, and that's all I needed to know.

Yelp
Had a great experience with Nate (the front desk guy). He was very professional from the day we checked in until the day we checked out. Always had a great attitude and was super friendly with my fur baby. He always had treats ready. Thanks Nate, you are awesome! The hotel is very cute. It's small but I liked that because there's less people (which is especially great during Covid). The pool was a great size and everyone stayed on their corner. I also loved the location. Great Mountain View's and it's super close to all the shops and restaurants. The only reason I didn't give the hotel 5 stars is because of the beds. They're more on the firm side which I can handle but my bf's back did not like it lol other than that, I highly recommend it. Also, parking is limited since it's a small hotel so if you're going with friends, def carpool.

Yelp
Movie Colony Hotel is a throwback 1940's inspired boutique hotel right where you want to be in Palm Springs. I booked online and opted for a King Suite. They confirmed the reservation and all was fine. About 5 days prior to check-in I received an email that the room I reserved has become unavailable. Not sure how that happens but assume someone wanted to book the room for a longer period of time. In any event, the hotel said they'd give me deluxe King. Fine. Driving into town I called to see if my room was available for an early check-in. It wasn't and I was advised to call back. I called back about 2p one hour prior to check-in. The front desk said they weren't sure if the room was ready or not. I wanted until 3p and just came to the hotel. Room still not ready. After 20 mins of sitting in the lobby the clerk came over with a pool key so I could sit by the pool while I wait. I said to keep the pool key and get me checked in. I've waited long enough and wanted my room, actually any room, that was available at this point. Within seconds they were able to get me my room. The room is great! Great lay-out and nicely decorated. I really liked the room and the large balcony. Really large bathroom and a one-cup coffee maker with good coffee and real creamer (not the powder stuff). There is a pool that seems about the right size for a small hotel. There is also a outside bar. Not sure if it's staffed in a non-covid world, but it wasn't during my stay. I'm not crazy about the fact that the room I selected, booked, and had confirmed for me, was downgraded on me 5 days prior to my arrival. For that reason, I probably won't stay here again (I want what I want) but enjoyed my stay overall.

Yelp
What a hidden gem!! Love! Love! Love this hotel! Olivia is absolutely AMAZING! She goes above and beyond to make your stay perfect! We celebrated my sister's birthday here and Olivia was so thoughtful and kind! We will definitely be back. (And on a side note, our room was great, too! We had a suite and it was so nice. Furniture was tasteful, bathroom was large and spacious, air conditioner COLD! Very clean and well taken care of.) Thank you so much for a great stay, Movie Colony Hotel! Cheers!

Yelp
Have a lovely, peaceful, and quiet Covid-cation here (our first and only one as we have been quarantin-ing to the Nth degree since early March)! We have stayed everywhere in Palm Springs from The Ace, Saguaro, V Palm Springs, The Parker, Sparrows Lodge, Korakia, and ha, even the 7 Springs Inn next door when we were attending a wedding at The Colony Palms, not to mention properties in Pioneertown and Coachella Valley for festivals in the past. So the desert is not new to us! Specifically since it is Covid, I was looking for basically somewhere to sequester away AWAY FROM THE PARTY FOLK. All we wanted was quiet, space, functional A/C, functional 'work' WiFi, and peace and quiet. I had always thought the Mid-Century design of the property was lovely, but sometimes you want a more 'party vibe' and sometimes you want a 'romance' vibe. This time, we wanted 'cool, classy, quiet' and we got it. When I called the weekend before check-in to inquire about WiFi speed and the occupancy during Covid, Nate answered my questions with friendly attentiveness. I was very heartened by this. Check-in was organized and easy: They had sanitized pens and a clear barrier at Triada, the neighboring hotel which is owned by the same company. They also provided a long list of restaurants who were offering outdoor dining. We chose to do food pickup or delivery each night from nearby restaurants, and ate safely away from crowds. Ralph's is a quick 5-min drive, and was open until around midnight each night as well so grabbing quick supplies or beverages was simple. My partner and I were both working remotely, and had no issue both taking calls on our laptops with a lot of privacy. We got a Suite and it felt expansive, large, and like a home-away-from-home. There was a pull-out sofa in the second room, along with a second TV screen that had an HDMI port to connect to our laptops for streaming, and a private deck for our room. We picked a weekday stretch so we would be with as few guests as possible for safety! All in all had a nice stay. Staff was easy to contact if any questions arose. We had a "Covid calm" few days away.

Yelp
!!BED WAS NEVER CHANGED!! Bed was clearly never cleaned. Wrinkled as if the comforter was just pulled over the sheets. Found hairs and a dirty paper towel in the bed when I pulled back the comforter. I was so disgusted I slept on the couch (I can't imagine and don't want to think how dirty it was). The bed also smelled like someone with B.O. had been in it. They should have saved some of that money they blew on interior decorating for paying housekeeping to do a good job.

Yelp
Great convenient & safe location, beautiful view outside. Cute rooms. Hot water. Mini fridge and coffee maker in room. Lyft comes quickly if you don't drive. I didn't think checking in at the hotel next door was a big deal. The staff there are very nice and that hotel is cute, so it's fun to step in there. Unlimited mini bottled water was very handy. It was quiet the whole time I was there, besides one night from 7-9, live music from the Mexican restaurant below, which was wonderful to hear. I danced on my balcony. I would definitely stay again. Especially loved the staff at the Triada hotel next door. They were friendly and helpful, that made my stay even more lovely. Wish they would open the hot tub. I would have liked to go in after the sun went down. Or maybe offer a pass to use the hot tub at the hotel next door. By the way, I don't drive and it took me about 10 minutes to walk downtown. Felt safe. I just tried to get home before dark. One night I walked at night and there was one man on the streets who seemed strange, but after I refused to talk with him, he left me alone. The whole time (7 days) I was in Palm Springs I saw about 5 homeless people and didn't have any interactions with them. So if you're worried about that, it seems pretty under control.

Yelp
Save your money. We called 3 times to check on amenities and we were lied to each time. The lobby is not open. You have to go next store to the Triana which we were told was their sister hotel and we could use their valet and amenities only to check in and find out that too was a lie. Every day so far we have to get new keys to get in our room...Pool is nothing. Rooms are nice. Love Palm Springs. Will not be back after we leave.

Yelp
Looking for a comfortable, yet distinctive, hotel in Palm Springs? You have many fine choices, and this under-rated oasis deserves a look.

Yelp
Movie colony is a great please to stay . The room is very clean and modern . The shower room is really big and roomie with two shower heads. The deluxe rooms has its own private balcony / patio. The only reason why I'm giving it a 4 the pool wasn't very clean .

Yelp
Great little spot. We had a large group and the hotel team accommodated us perfectly. Couldn't recommend this place enough. Great location as well. Walkable to great food.

Yelp
I love this place. I've stayed here 3 or 4 times this summer. Rooms are clean and recently remodeled with higher end furniture. Coffee maker and fridge in the rooms. Big walk in showers. Lots of good bars and restaurants nearby (see my review of Trio). Adults only . Nice pool. Breakfast in the morning includes fresh juice, fruit, cereal, and danish (albeit stale). I've booked each time through there website to get even a better deal - They offer deals online cheaper than the other booking sites.

Yelp
This is a favorite hotel. It is close to everything, but It is so quiet in a busy town. I love the minimum age of 21... NO KIDS! We can actually use the pool... and most days, we had the large pool to ourselves which is amazing! Nate was exceptional and took really good care of us, so, many thanks to him!!

Yelp
It was a very cool place, it needs a bit of upkeep, it's showing its age. Also the air conditioning units run all the time and are quite noisey!!!

Yelp
Nice boutique hotel in a exclusive neighborhood. Although, the parking was extremely limited and actually had to make few rounds looking for available parking in the area. Check-in was smooth and the receptionist was friendly as well showed us the hotel. The moment I opened the door, you could smell a whiff of musty odor from the first floor living room. It smelled something like a high school P.E. locker. The upstairs bedroom and bathroom was nice and clean but some of the interior decor and particularly the door leading to the balcony deck was shoddy. But no big deal because we were looking really forward to go for a swim in the pool in the hot weather, but there was a group of people already partying up with booze and such. So we skipped the pool and planned to go swimming the next morning when there's few to nobody. When I woke up in the middle of the night (1:30a) to go to the bathroom and I went to check the window to see if the same people were still partying and yep they were despite when the receptionist told me that the pool closes at 10p...and when I woke up, I went to check the window again and they left a big mess on the pool deck and they didn't even bother to clean up after themselves, oh right they were too drunk the night before...that's when we decided to check out early. Not coming back again.

Yelp
I love architecture and the old Palm Springs feel but this place is a joke. It's such a disappointment that they would let a Frey design fall a part and become a sub par hotel. No matter what room you stay in, you're going to get cloudy, murky water coming out of the facet and shower. This place needs to be purchased by an entity that would do it justice and honor its architectural significance. With so many options in Palm Springs, this has definitely fallen to the bottom of my list. The service wasn't very good the last time I stayed and the hotel staff was not accommodating. Pass on this one next time you're in Palm Springs.

Yelp
Place was actually very decent. Our room # 19 was clean . Carpet just a tad dirty but I always take slippers Wheh I travel. Entire property was small and boutique . So not too many people at the pool. Close to strip . The only thing is that depending on your room , it can be a lil noisy. You can hear or feel the cars passing by and it vibrates.. . Over all I thought was decent, ok if I were to stay again it would be an upper floor. . But if need be, I would stay again. If good price and not a room next to the street.

Yelp
The rooms were noisy with poor insulation. You could hear people walking upstairs and people walking and talking outside. The pool was old. The staff was friendly but they didn't clean the rooms even when asked to. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place.
