Great spot to try espresso or pour-overs. I read some reviews beforehand, so I had a good sense of what to expect — both in terms of drinks and service. We did the pour-over flight and had a nice variety of beans to choose from. The girl at the counter helped to suggest a third option, but didn’t offer much detail about the beans or tasting notes — mostly letting the labels speak for themselves. For a tasting bar, I was hoping for a bit more guidance or conversation about the coffees. That said, we still enjoyed the coffee, the space, and the presentation. It's definitely on the pricier side, but the quality of the beans makes it feel worth it — depending on what you pick. Just go in knowing this isn't your typical café; it's a roastery with a tasting bar.

Very confused about my experience here. Based on the reviews it seemed that they serve milk base coffee here and perhaps bake goods but I was informed they don’t serve milk base coffee. Furthermore, the $5 espresso I ordered was so sour that I found it difficult to finish. I was hoping since they roast their own beans I would get a nice shot but I was left disappointed. Perhaps it was an off day.

If you’re into coffee (or just curious to learn more), Moving Coffee is such a great spot. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down and really enjoy what you’re drinking. Definitely book a tasting flight ahead of time so you can try a few different single-origin beans as either a pour over or espresso. The staff are super friendly and know their stuff—they took the time to explain the flavors, brewing methods, and answer all our questions. Moving Coffee Roastery is a true hidden gem for coffee enthusiasts. Despite its modest size, this shop offers an impressive variety of coffee beans that cater to every palate. I opted for the iced black coffee, which was not only strong but had a delightful fruity note, making it a unique experience. Curious about their morning whisky, I plan to try that next time! My friend had the hot black coffee and was impressed by its quality, rating it well above average. The staff add to the charm of the place with their friendly, family-style service. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Always fun popping into specialty coffee shops and tasting various coffees on menu. Got a flight of three Colombians, and enjoyed the fact that I was given an opportunity to smell the grinds before the pour over. Each one had its own unique taste, and glad I went from lightest to strongest / fun tasting. Great hole in the wall spot for specialty coffee enthusiasts.

I had a fantastic experience at Moving Coffee! The coffee here is exceptionally good—each cup tastes wonderfully fresh and full of flavor. The roaster’s expertise really shows in every batch, and the whole team is professional, friendly, and passionate about what they do. Highly recommend stopping by for some of the best coffee in town!

The drinks are delightful, and I savored every sip of the coffee. The pour-overs are a definite recommendation. However, I have a minor concern about the morning whiskey (Prestige Geisha varietal). Do they employ the compound chilling technique during preparation? The bottom of the glass unveils incredible sweetness and delicate bean flavors. While the top portion has a more acidic note, which is acceptable, I wish the entire glass mirrored the exquisite taste of the bottom half. I found myself tempted to savor every drop by sucking on the frozen ice ball.

Food: in this case the beverage, one of the more memorable coffee experience in vancity. The descriptions on the plate is exactly what you will get, which is magically. I won't spoil the beans for everyone that's looking to visit. Service: it gets quite busy at times. I wouldn't say the service is very prevalent, as they are focused on the art of roasting beans and optimizing taste buds, which was well received from this visit. Ambiance: it is very inviting, no one feels out of place, limited seating, nonetheless , it is not the worst, the set up of the taste flight really sets this establishment apart from other coffee maisons.

A very very nice cafe tucked away in the inner streets by Olympic Village. Everything about it feels super authentic and the coffee definitely confirmed that vibe. It's also connected with Fife bakery so there are plenty of delicious pastries to try as well! The barista there was very nice and took the time to casually chat with customers whenever there was a lull, and the general atmosphere felt very calming. The only concern is how small the place is. Although I managed to get a seat, the place was almost entirely full and felt a little crowded with just around 5-10 people. But the seats are cute and also feature hanging hooks for jackets and bags which I loved very much!! Makes everything so much more convenient. All in all, a very great cafe to sit and chat with a friend over a cup of coffee～

I've only bought their coffee online. It's the best coffee roaster I've found in Vancouver and in fact, BC. Natural Carbpnic and Honey Carbonic are both killer. It takes me a few minutes each morning to get past just sniffing the aroma of the beans. I make pour over and it's an absolute delight making it. I use a Smeg burr grinder and I use the coarsest setting for Natural Carbonic and 2 levels finer for Honey Carbonic. Results are great. The other beans are good too. But I'm so into Natural Carbonic and Honey Carbonic.

Rude customer service. Bought several bags from them and the owner proceeded to make a snarky comment at us about their "policy" after we asked if he could grind up one bag for us (and said this as he had his hand on a grinder machine). Policy is fine, rude delivery. Won't be back!

As I regularly visit Fife Bakery which also houses Moving Coffee, it has quickly become one of my favourite spots to hang out in and enjoy a cup of coffee. Moving Coffee is run by the cheerful couple of Edmond and his wife Shirley, who welcome me every time I come to visit and chat. I learn so much just from watching the brewing process at the front of the house, as well as talking with Edmond, the Q-grader level barista who roasts the beans in the back. I still enjoy their signature Espresso roasts of Phantom or Opera as a Latté after being introduced to it by them on my first visit, but I usually let them surprise me with any new roasts that get brought in throughout the year. As a microroastery, they don't offer sweetener or cream/milk on the side as they want you to savor the original tasting notes of the coffee itself. If you want grass-fed organic milk or the alternative oatmilk in your coffee, a latté is your only option. That also means no americanos, just drip coffee or pour over. There are occasionally fact cards available with your espresso that go into detail about each roast's journey from bean to cup, as they source beans from various farms in coffee growing regions. It's also unique that they write tasting notes on the menu, which Edmond discovers during cupping sessions for the beans. So, it serves as a fun personal challenge to discover these delicate notes of citrus, jasmine, pomegranate or chocolate to name a few, when you're the customer drinking the coffee. In summer months, Shirley may also whip up Cascara sodas or Elderflower Sodas for a limited time which are also a treat! If you are an advanced coffee drinker and are used to paying more for your coffee experience, Moving Coffee has got your back with the highly sought-after Gesha Varietal coffee beans, which are available as a drink option on their menu at varying times of the year. It sells out quite fast with specialty coffee culture being quite large in Vancouver. Due to the ongoing COVID situation, they have temporarily moved their business from the bakery to online for the time being. They continue to ship out beans from there and record YouTube videos of brewing techniques if you need your coffee fix and want to support a local business.

Small operation inside Fife Bakery. Got a cappuccino and it was perfectly balanced. Vancouver seems to have quite a loose definition when it comes to cappuccinos, with some tasting like a latte. Not this one, it was perfect.

Definitely worth it. I'm a coffee novice but I know what I like and don't like. I think it was the owner who served me, he was intimidating but he certainly knows his craft. He recommended me their seasonal Sweet Blossom coffee after hearing my preference (I told him I not fond of the acidic taste to some coffees) and I was blown away. The coffee pour over was not like any coffee I have had before and I will certainly be back for more. He recommended the Gora Kone to my sister as she prefers a more fruitier taste. Of course I had to try hers to compare and it was good also! We very much enjoyed our pour overs and look forward to trying more!

I had previously given them a 2 star review because I said that their coffee was good but the owner was very unfriendly. Well, I got a notification from Yelp that my review was removed because of the language I used, which is preposterous. Anyway, now I'm reposting a 1 star review. I stand by what I said originally. The coffee is good, but the owner has a very condescending attitude towards his customers that is downright rude and insulting. I suggested a few friends go here for the coffee and they all had the same comment about the owner's attitude. His coffee is good, but it's not the best, and very expensive. Prototype is better, or at least the same, and practically half the price and with good service. I won't be patronizing this douchey business anymore.

I had their morning whiskey ($6) and I must say it's pretty good. I got it to go but the ice cube was simply too big for the paper straw to go through. I took a sip from the cup and guess what, it tastes different drinking it from the straw compared to taking sips from the cup. I'm glad the straw couldn't go through so I could get the real taste. Unfortunately, I was on the go so in the end I had to use the straw. It's a very small coffee shop with limited amount of baked goods. I was hoping to find their famous bun but it looks like they only had cookies and something that didn't catch my attention. Wish their coffee was sold in a bottle.... the barista told me I can only get them online.

This spot is probably my favourite place to grab a coffee and snack now! It's such a cute, minimalist cafe, that serves top notch items made with quality and care. The owners are also extremely knowledgeable and passionate about their products which makes every visit such a pleasant experience. I always look forward to getting my morning fix of coffee here and indulging in whatever freshly baked goodies they have on display. I am a huge fan of their pear galettes, sausage rolls, blueberry mascarpone turnovers, and lemon madeleines. If you're looking for delicious bread to take home, I highly recommend their loaves - the bread is so soft and has the perfect texture. I've tried both the cheese and olive bread and both are amazing. If you're in the area and need your caffeine fix, this is the place to do it!

Best coffee in Vancity! Don't believe it just try~ The people behind the counter is passionate about coffee beans, extraction methods, coffee machine etc. Sometimes, it is very informative to talk to them. We also buy their coffee beans to brew at home and man, even those home brewed coffee beat lots of brewed coffee that we grab on our way to work... Their drip coffee and 4oz coffee with milk are delicious.

Totally agree with the previous review. The service is very bad. The staff doesn't even want to talk to the customer or say anything. We drove 20 minutes there but left without tasting anything.

Overpriced, pretentious, and rude. Popped in because we were in the area, but after ordering I was oddly denied access to cream/ milk, while the milk is on the counter, no explanation. I get stomach aches if I drink black coffee. My wife wanted a simple decaf Americana but the only option given was a $6 latte. The coffee was good, but the service was horrible.

First time coming here to try their coffee and it was so good. I'm not a coffee snob but I know good coffee. Their slow drip cold coffee called Morning Whisky was absolutely outstanding! For me it was the whole experience of it, the combination of the whisky glass and ice sphere mimicking a whisky was just genius and it worked very well together! I had their coffee bread as well and it was made perfectly. I'll be back for more!

If in Vancouver, visit this extremely hidden, tiny standing-only bakery, highly lauded for its pour-over coffee. In my opinion-acidic and overrated. However, they DO serve the best loaves of fresh bread. I visited because my sister and her boyfriend told me they got a 10.00 cup of black coffee here and that they don't offer sugar, as they maintain that it would adulterate the taste of the brew. Huge novelty factor-- as it is pricing is on the extreme upper end!

Honestly one of the best coffee shops in Vancouver right now. Edmund is very knowledgeable about all the beans and methods, and the latte foam is just perfect. You won't be disappointed!

Lovely little hidden gem! The decor is simple, and ambiance is cozy. I tried their split, which is a macchiato and an espresso shot. I also tried my friend's pourover. All of our orders came from the same bean, but the notes are all completely different with different preparation methods. The machiatto is very creamy and thick, the coffee flavour was nicely incorporated with the milk. On the other hand, the espresso shot was clean but dense! The after taste is absolutely lovely!!!! (Sorry, I forgot what the bean was) The pourover, was the mildest and smoothest of all. The taste palette is very subtle, very tea-like! We also tried their matcha cookies! Crumbly and delicious! Absolutely enjoyed it. Overall, great place to hide out and enjoy great coffee and baked goods. However, seating is limited! I believe there are only 4 seats indoors. Definitely coming back soon :)

This place really knows what you want! I asked for a white chocolate macadamia cookie, they gave me a dark chocolate and sea salt cookie I asked for cream for my coffee they said no Normally I'd be kinda mad about such snobbery but the coffee and cookie were really good so I gotta give them props for sticking to their guns.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. Most coffee shops will adopt a sustainable food model but will fail to deliver good coffee. This place is so good. One of my coffee snob friends took me here. It's a cute little shop by Olympic Village. They're known as Fife (bakery) and Moving Coffee (roaster). The place is operated by two guys; one being a roaster and the other is a baker. Please get the Morning Whiskey (Cold brew ) and the Switch. For the switch, you have to have it in-house. The grass fed cow milk they use, elevates the flavours. So on point - like wow. Also, ask for a sausage roll- warmed and cut in half.

Sorry to give this place 1 star but it's solely on the price. $5.25 for a 10 oz latte. Ridiculous! I've had way better espresso all around the world for less than half the price. There are many options nearby that are very good for at least a dollar less for 12 oz. Not sure why these guys think they deserve to charge such an exorbitant price.

The coffee is the best. Many people will drive here just to have their coffee. Will come back if I am near the area.

This is a little pop up shop that is open inside the bakery so don't get thrown off if you don't find the sign. It took me a while to make the connection as well. I was impressed with their coffee. It was really good. Up there with some of my other favorite places in the city. They're true foodies and it was awesome to spend 20 minutes just shooting the shit about coffee. It made my lunch to just talk about food things. Prices are reasonable and standard.

Hidden inside Fife bakery is this tiny cafe serving up some of the best coffee I've ever had. They have multiple beans on offer that are carefully roasted themselves and you can choose how you want it brewed. What sets this place apart from other specialty coffee shops is their knowledge and passion--strike a conversation with the owners and you'll know what I mean. A bonus for the coffee geeks out there is that they offer one on one classes outside their business hours on everything from latte art to full on barista training!

Ambiance: very tiny (one bar area with 4 bar stools for seating and thats it! There's a small bench outside the front door for sunny days. Dont come here thinking you can study). Industrial/minimalist vibe. Clean. Neat. Coffee: i had an ethiopian bean roasted between light and medium. It came with a card with info highlighting where it's from and some distinct notes. It was extracted expertly as an espresso and tasted best this way in my opiniom even though i usually prefer pour overs. The pour over was done well, light in color, no sediment and tasted fresh (obviously). Bread: will need to try next time. Pastry: I had a monte blanc which was good but not my preference for having with coffee as it masks the subtle sweetness of an ethiopian brew. It was like a chinese pineapple bun in that it had a sweet sugared layer with hazlenut filling i believe. It was warm when served. The filling tasted fresh and not artificial. The staff: wow. I am incredibly impressed by how patient, and hard working they are. They are willing to educate you down to showing you the beans and letting you smell them. I've been to a lot of coffee places and id be the most upset if this place closed. I would 100% recommend this place to anybody curious about coffee or interested in having fresh baked goods. Chat up the staff if you have time. Theyre brimming with fun facts and info without any pretentiousness.

Great coffee. Bought some beans to go, and it did not disappoint but def more than I'd like to spend on my everyday java.

Took a pourover class with Edmund and his wife Shirley and had a fun and educational time during the session. Definitely worth the money - Edmund is a fountain of knowledge and shares it easily, making you feel comfortable no matter your skill level or prior knowledge on all things coffee.

For those of us who make their espresso at home, I write enthusiastically about Edmond's roasts. I picked up a bag of their Single Varietal 100% Caturra yesterday after reading a review of this roaster on Vancouver Coffee Snob. It is more expensive than most 3/4 lb. bags, so I had high expectations. I was not disappointed. This is the smoothest, most sophisticated espresso I have ever had. No hyperbole. I usually pick up my beans from various roasters sold at Revolver, but this is a new favourite. If you're very discerning about coffee, I would give this cafe and roaster a try.

Great coffee beans. Great coffee and friendly staff. My kids liked the cookies and blueberry scone. The owner should be proud at how well their staff treat customers. Unlike some artisanal coffee places Moving Coffee comes with friendly attitude free service.

Coffee is a serious thing for the barista here they have four or at least 3 options of great beans, and the bakery partner serves amazing cookies and breads.
